Bucket List - "Cyrano"

Cyrano de Bergerac is my favorite play of all time. I'm delighted that after five years of lobbying, I'll finally get a chance to direct it at DCP Theatre. I couldn't be more excited. Auditions are Feb 24 & 25. I hope to have a fabulous influx of new auditioners juxtaposed with the DCP members. This is a HUGE show, and I'll need a cast of 20-25 to fill the 45 roles! Keep checking back for more info as we get closer to opening night on May 31!

Two New Gigs!

Hello to everyone. It has been some time since my last post. I decided to take some time off after the passing of my father. It was time I needed, and I'm feeling ready to start tackling the world again. So we'll start with the newest gig that is THIS FRIDAY! I'll be singing with the Merrie Madrgials again. You can spot us at the Skippack tree lighting or in one of the many eateries. We'll be caroling through the night. The next gig is a special one, I'll be performing with two amazing ladies at DCP Theatre in October 2013. Check back for more details. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday!

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Once you've feasted and shopped, come to Skippack! It's the annual tree lighting, and the Merrie Madrigals will be back again. We go on at 6pm, and then we'll be caroling through the restaurants and bars. So come hear us sing and then stay for some great food. If nothing else, it's worth seeing the men in tights! ;)

A New Gig!

I've been cast in the amazing production of It's a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play at dcp theatre. What role, you ask? Not Mary. Not Violet. Not even Zuzu. Nope. I got the best role of all. I'm the foley artist!

Wait. You don't know what that means? Well then, let me clarify. The foley is the person who makes all the sound effects. Remember, this is a radio play. So we'll need live sound effects on stage. And I'll get to do them, just like they did back in the day. I've been waiting for this show to start since it was announced last year. It's going to be a blast. Reservations are going to be required. The holiday show sells out every year.

A New Gig!

Yes, I have another gig. I'll be playing the role of Hippolyta in Michael Dutka's world premier of Midsummer Night's Dream. It's an opera based on the work by Willy Shakes. This is a work in progress, so it's only Act 1 Scene 1. My part is rather small, but it's still amazing. Along with that, there will be fencing demonstrations and "Spontaneous Shakespeare". And it's free! Can't ask for more than that.

Directing Debut! Audition Alert!

Hey everyone, fabulous news! I will be making my directorial debut at dcp theatre. I am directing the fabulous thriller The Ghost Train by Arnold Ridley.

"Imagine it's the 1930s, and you're traveling by train on the Maine Coast Railway. All of a sudden the train is stalled by a silly man who's lost his hat out the train window. Now you've missed your connection, and you're stranded in a tiny railway station with several other passengers. However, this isn't just any ol' stop-off. The station master weaves the yarn of the phantom locomotive that comes barreling down the tracks with fire at its wheels. Certainly it can't be true? But once the station master turns up dead, we start to wonder if there is any truth to the tale. Join the silly Brit, the spatting spouses, the newlyweds, the spinster, and their mystery guests as they discover the truth behind the ghost train!"

The show dates are as follows:
June 4, 5, 6*, 11, 12, 13*, 18, 19, 20*.
All performances at 8pm, except matinees (*) at 2pm.
Tickets are $12, $10 for children and seniors.

So, of course if I'm directing a show, I'm going to have auditions. My first time being in charge of auditions!! Can you tell I'm excited? So, here are the details:

April 4, 5 at dcp theatre
7:30pm
7 men and 4 women mixed ages 20-60. One male must have an English accent. Cold readings from the script with possible call backs TBD.

Yes, it's almost that time. My recital is at St. John's in Lansdale on Feb 15th @ 4pm. This has been several months in the making, so I hope you can make it. Many thanks to Judy Malis Rosenfeld, my voice teacher, who has been enduring my insanity these many weeks. Also a huge thank you to David Furniss who will be my accompanist.

This is a truly beautiful program. German lieder from Schubert, French art songs from Faure, and the best in Italian and American arias. Yes, opera. But you will love it, because it's wonderful. All that and the St. John's Choir to sing Mozart with me. How can you say no? See, you can't!

Bring friends and loved ones. Bring strangers off the street.

My Recital

I’ve been asked to give a recital at St. John’s. This is a pretty big deal. It’s an hour of me singing. Just me. And they don’t ask just anyone, so I’m pretty honored. The music will consist of German lieder, French art songs, Italian and American arias, and one piece with the choir.

This is very important to me. Recitals don’t come along every day, or even every year. I’ve been working hard for the past few months to make this a special concert. What would make it even more special is your presence. It’s a free show, so why not? My goal is to completely fill this space. I want it to be standing room only. I want St. John’s to be happy they asked me to sing.

So please save the date and attend if you can. Also, send this email to anyone you think might be interested. Bring friends and family to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of incredible music.

I have one request apart from your attendance. Please do not bring flowers. I know that it’s customary, and I greatly appreciate the thought. But if I fill this church like I want, I’d have to build an addition to my house just for the flowers. Instead, please donate to St. John’s with their free-will offering after the show. Your funds will help to keep the music program going. And if they have a big haul that night, maybe they’ll invite me back.

I look forward to seeing you there. I know it’s going to be great.

Can you handle it? Yet another gig and another photo. I only wish I could keep this up forever.

I'll be caroling with the Merry Madrigal Singers on November 28, 2008. We'll be part of the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in Skippack, PA. We're starting from The Body Serene at 6:00pm and caroling through the shops. It's always a wonderful time. You can click here for more info.

Yes, I promised more photos, and here I have another show update. But first things first. I've posted another pic from my shoot with Scott Church. I just love them. I've got one more that will be coming, but you have to wait until next month.

So, new show news. (Wow, that's a strange sentence.)

I'll be performing with the St. John's Chancel Choir in their annual Christmas Concert. The North Penn High School Chamber Singers will also be singing with us. There is some beautiful music prepared. As always, the concert is free with a free-will donation. The show is Sunday, December 14 @ 7pm. Check the gig box above for more details. I’m just too excited that I had to share my news with you right away.

First up. David Furniss of St. John’s U.C.C. has asked me to perform a recital. Why is that so exciting? Because it’s a whole lot of me singing whatever I like. I’m actually very honored. David doesn’t ask just anyone to perform a recital. The congregation has been very supportive of me, and I’m grateful for such an opportunity. The recital is scheduled for February 15, 2009 @ 4pm. Mark your calendars now because this is one night only.

Second, I spent today at the studio of Scott Church. I needed new headshots, and I knew he was the man to see. I’ve been following his career for several years, and I’m enthralled with his work. We spent several hours creating some beautiful shots. I’ve uploaded one already in the Media section. I’ll be releasing the others over time. Hey, it keeps you coming back.

So mark your calendars. February 15, 2009 @ 4pm - St. John's. No, I can’t say it enough.

Upcoming Show

My next show is The Foreigner by Larry Shue. I'm not staring in this one. I'm back working the technical side. I'm the assistant director, and I'm running lights and sound.

The Foreigner is a very funny show. The scene is a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by "Froggy" LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occasionally runs training sessions at a nearby army base. This time "Froggy" has brought along a friend, a pathologically shy man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. So "Froggy," before departing, tells all assembled that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. Once alone the fun really begins, as Charlie overhears more than he should made with the thought that Charlie doesn't understand a word being said. That he does fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry for the "bad guys," and the "good guys" emerge triumphant.

Hello everyone. Welcome to my new website. This has been a long time coming, and many thanks to D.E. Christman for building it. It's more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.
