"This album, Black Water by Jenny Dalton, was
a pleasure to listen to, and after looping too many times to count,
I’ve found there are a few songs in particular that really stand out for
me...The words are interesting and have just the right amount of darkness to
keep them intriguing and mysterious without being angsty. .Some of the tracks have this airy quality to them, like Jenny took all
the best qualities from Enya and skipped the cheesy reverbs and string
lines, leaving the album with the same calmness, but far more emotional
relevance.." - Bucket List
Recorded in a house in Stillwater, Jenny Dalton’s new album evokes a

(or sometimes autoharp), and muted or absent percussion. Also,
performing at 10 pm will be the talented punk-rock-turned-folk songsmith
Andy Elwell, and, at 11 pm, country-fried psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll band by way of Coon Rapids Red Daughters fresh off their CD release at Icehouse. sneak into your consciousness without you ever realizing it. Recently,
the Minneapolis musician took some time away from the Cities to retreat
to Stillwater, allowing her to nurture and write new tracks for her new
album, Black Water. The record lives on the edges of singer-songwiter indie-rock, but has elements of haunting ambient rock thrown in. Black Water gently
buzzes with soft static and the rustle of life's more humble, quiet
moments; listen to it on a late evening with the windows open as summer
gives away to autumn.

Gimme Noise caught up with the singer

Dalton recorded and produced all nine tracks, “cocooned” in a
Stillwater house. On “Wolf Named Someday,” Dalton produces an eerie
vocal quality backed by soft piano and shuffled beats. The song shifts
back and forth between this eeriness and a sense of hope as she sings,
“Puttin’ on my nice red dress for the wolf named someday.” She’ll be at Northeast Minneapolis staple the 331 Club this Friday for her release show."
which is due out on September 2. The first single offered up from the
new collection is the moody and haunting, "Wolf Named Someday," and the
shadowy clip suitably compliments the saturnine quality of the track.
The album was inspired by Dalton's time in Stillwater, and the
leisurely, picturesque setting on the banks of the St. Croix River.
Shortly before she is due to give birth, Dalton has planned a CD release
show at the 331 Club on September 5, backed by her stellar band
featuring Martha Weir (the Chambermaids), Joe Gaskill (Kill To Kill),
and Brian Lake (Buildings), who is also the father-to-be. Dalton's
strong, inspired batch of new songs should make quite an impression on
the local music scene." - CityPages Gimme Noise

Interview on Vents Magazine

.."Let ́s talk about your latest material, Black Water. and the whole 9 yards. Black Water was all done at home by myself, so it
felt experimental and meditative. It was a very solitary process with a
lot of late nights. Since I was able to use my iPad for some of it, I
was able to sit out on the deck under the moon, surrounded by trees,
with bats flying around, and I was listening and creating in that kind
of surreal environment. It was nice to be able to create the music in
the same type of environment that inspired it."..
Minneapolis coming to perform in Pittsburgh at AVA Lounge on Thursday,
February 21 and we’re here to tell you a bit more about this talented
lady. Her name is Jenny Dalton
and she’s drawn comparisons to the artists previously mentioned,
combining elements of piano, autoharp and percussion into one unique and
intimate performance. With three releases under her belt, Dalton has
been making music for well over seven years now. Her latest, Blood Folk,
was released in 2011. She is currently embarking on a U.S. tour which
kicks off today in Knoxville, Tennessee and wraps up in April in
Chicago.
Dalton’s aesthetic has been described as ethereal, timeless and
haunting. Her songs evoke a train of thought that burrows deep into the
listener’s soul. 'From tracks that induce a pensive mood to those that
stimulate activity of the sensory system, Dalton’s songs have the
potency to touch people emotionally, particularly those emotions that
