2011 Holiday Promo- 2012 is going to be Sweet

I wanted to talk about how I did last years holiday promo.

The idea was to send honey to existing and potential clients with the tag line 2012 is going to be sweet!

Here’s how it got done.

1. Locate a local beekeeper and honey.

I wanted to incorporate images into the promotion so I needed to a beekeeper that would be game for having his/her photo taken.

About 30 seconds into my conversation with Ray Claxton I knew he would be great. He loved the idea.

He is a super-friendly fellow and quite the character. If you want to know about bees. He’s your man. His website is here.

Shoot went well. It was a cold morning so the bees were a little grumpy about being woken up. I left with only three stings.

2. Find a Jar

I didn’t want the typical hexagon glass jar for the honey. I was looking for something more like an old whickey or pharmacist bottle.

The problem with those is that the openings aren’t big enough for honey to flow out of.

I did a lot of research and ended up finding the jars locally at Duval Container.

3. Labeling

I rebranded late last year. More on that later.

I have a new logo and I wanted to introduce it on this promo.

Can’t say enough good things about working with Brunet Garcia. More on that later too.

I decided to use stickers for the labeling. I was worried about the price because I did have a budget.

Luckily I stumbled upon StickerMule. I sent them my logo and they did a great job. It was within my budget as well. Sweet.

4.-Finishing Touches

After a few trips to Jo Ann and Michaels I found some actual scrap leather to use around the top of the jars to attach the tags.

I printed the tags in-house using my Epson 9800. I produced about 100 of them.

They ended up looking really nice. What do you all think?

I have always enjoyed coming up with ideas for my promotions.

Hello everyone. Meet Henry Wilson Hande.

He was born on November 7, 2011 and came in at a whopping 6 pounds, 4 ounces.

I couldn’t be more proud of his mom. She is a rock star.

I had no idea I could love something so much.

What a trip being a parent is. I am looking forward to this most incredible ride.
