Starting in September I will be the new Obesity and Food Addiction blogger for HeartSupport. What is HeartSupport?

Heartsupport is community based online help for those struggling with all types of addictions, although we focus primarily on addictions to, sex, food, internet, substances and money. Heartsupport believes that everyone has a life story and that his or her story is unique. They also believe that there is strength in numbers. To know that you are not alone in life’s struggles and that someone else has been through what you are dealing with can be the greatest gift and relief.

Heartsupport’s hope is that the stories shared through their website will not only show people that they are not alone in their struggles, but also that they can empower those who read them to begin their recovery journey, and someday share their story as well.

I have the opportunity to not only share my own story with others who are struggling. But even greater, I have the opportunity to lend a voice to those who are deep in their own struggle. Stay tuned for more updates and my involvement with HeartSupport.

Source Food Addiction

The past few month s I’ve diligently complied your questions/ comments and sometime in the fall there will be a couple new features on the website. One of the features is a segment called “Facts, Lies and Untruthatudes; the skinny on all things weight loss.” This is an open forum where I address all things weight loss and conclude if it is a fact, a lie, or simply, an untruthatude.

The next thing I will be unveiling is a bible study that not only stands on its own, but also can work in conjunction with the Gospel According to Chubby. I am kicking around a few titles, but right now I refer to it as “The Daily Pita”…..because for those struggling with weight, “Daily Bread” is just too high carb.

Also, the eBook should be available sooner than later as well as the audio version of “The Gospel According to Chubby” should be available for pre-order as early as November.
That’s the update for now.

First. Barnes and Nobel has officially signed on to carry “The Gospel According to Chubby” You can pick it up on-line or in-store. More often than not, you may not find it on their shelf at first. But if your local B&N store is out of stock, they will quickly order a copy for you and have it to your store waiting for pickup with in a few days!

That was the good news. Now, the bad news.

A recent study by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has revealed that our thinnest state in 2010 (Colorado with and obesity rate of 19.1) is larger than our fattest state was in 1991. (Mississippi with an obesity rate of 15.7)

This means in less than two decades our country has become so overweight that our strongest fitness ambassador is now worse off than our weakest.

I am normally a man of many words… but these truths have left me speechless. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I took a moment to celebrate my independence by hand writing a letter of encouragement to our first lady Michelle Obama in regards to her fight on childhood obesity. I also sent her a copy of the book so she could experience some of the trials first hand from the mind of an obesity survivor. Whether she reads it or not, well, that is beyond my control. Regardless, I feel it was the right thing to do. So if you would send up a little prayer for the little book that could, I would appreciate it.

In the meantime, I am taking this week to finish dry walling my basement and I will return next week with a brand new video blog and an obesity statistic that you will literally find unbelievable. By the way, to those who wrote in, thank you for getting the joke of the “Nashville Flood Edition.” Your “real” copies are on the way
