But snow can be fun, too! Gusts of wind created a natural mountain in the backyard, and Jasmine had a blast climbing it. More than a week later, there’s still a nice layer. And we’re expecting more this weekend! Most New-Yorkers hate it. I don’t, even if it means I need to shovel. Beautiful scenery more than make up for it.

I brought my parents to the airport one day after so many flights were canceled due to the storm. Theirs was delayed for an hour and a half… which turned into eight hours and a half. JFK was quite a sight. You couldn’t tell where the lines ended and luggage were piling up. You see these people on the escalator? They’re not going down, they’re waiting. When my parents arrived at destination (after missing their connection twice), they had no luggage. To this day (ten days later), they only received two out of four.

Finally, we had a nice snow storm, the first of the season. I know you can’t tell here but the layer was quite thick. The wind swept snow, sculpting desert landscapes that could easily reach four feet in some places.

I’ve seen this van quite often on our street but to actually capture this detail on Christmas day seemed to be most fitting. As for 316, I had to google it. From wikipedia: John 3:16 (chapter 3, verse 16 of the Gospel of John) is one of the most widely quoted verses from the Christian Bible, and has been called the most famous Bible verse. It has also been called the “Gospel in a nutshell” because it is considered a summary of the central dogma of traditional Christianity: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16 (King James Version). There you have it.
