Its truly an amazingly photogenic place they have done a great job. So my friends belly up and enjoy

Breaching the Summit

Hipstamatic is a wonderful tool. I emphasize tool, a camera is only as good as the person holding it, it requires that ability and training to develop that sense of a good image. The Hipstamatic can be used as a serious tool to create art. If you are a photographer that is has an obsession with sharpness and clarity even at giant prints well then maybe your should choose an 8x10. But i think that my tiny cell phone camera produces art from my eyes view.

I use my small pocket camera too capture images when i forgot my DSLR or just did not feel like shooting with it that day, as in the case of this photo. Cameras are tools, film is a tool, dark rooms, photoshop, lightroom etc. etc... all tools. Put them to good use and you can create great art.Mophie Juice Pack Air iPhone 4 And 4S Battery Case - 1145JPAIP4BLK

This is a great mystical landscape created by these two combinations, The slightly brown toned monochrome of the film the overall feel is very old but also very mystical

Hey every one check out this site I entered some of my wine pics in this contest.

Len: John S; Film: AO BW

This combo is great. High contrast light leaks spots and all greatness going on here.

I am generally not a wildlife photographer, however i do like to shoot animals that i find on my treks when I can. This handsome little fellow is a common sight at La Jolla Shores Beach. I often see these birds hopping around the sand looking for what ever it is that they eat. I told you not a wild life photographer if I was I could probably give you the exactly what kinda bird this is. However, for me image is important to me so well I will let it go i like the shot.

A Path Through the Trees: Daley Ranch Escondido, Ca

Lens: Chunky; Film: BlackKeys B+W

Lens: JohnS; Film: AO BW

These shots i know are similare but i thought i would show some of the differences between a couple of the Black and White films in hipstamatic. The black keys is slightly muted added to by the light leaks from chunky. And i truly like the dated border. This film always to mee gives and impression of color even though when I look closer I truly cannot find any.

The AO BW is has amazing contrast, the blacks are super dark and I love it. It never ceases to give a stunning look.

For today because I am loving the mannequins that I shot recently I decided to add a few more. This time in color.

I though for today i would share more of the Fashionistas. Share my experience with these lifeless creations of fashion or marketing or what have you. Either way they are interesting and amazing to me. For me some of the most interesting photographs contain people. These do as well or pseudo people as the case may be, observe them watch them tell me there is not something mildly alive.

Untitled: Fashion Mannequin 1: Hipstamatic Lens: Loftus; Film: US1776

Out at the mall yesterday decided to use my time to be creative. Mannequins are slightly disturbing to me almost people that have been frozen in time and dressed to the idea of some form of product designer. However, they make great subjects. She stands regal in a perfect pose looking as a perfect example of a human being. The strangest hing is that even though you know this fashion model is fake there is almost life behind the eyeless stair.

An Epic Battle

I always like the border on big up and it frames this shot well adding to the battle. With the central figures in near washed out tones and the surrounding still brightly colored this battle is framed well.

The Pugilist; Lens: Slavador 84, Film: Alfred Infrared

2012-03-21T02:06:00.000-07:00

What a totally Cool this shot this is at least to me. I have always enjoyed the random distortions of the Salvador lens it has a great way of creating a dream scape. This one seems especially distorted the figures are twisted almost beyond Dali and to the point of Picasso. The Colors continue work great for this image, I am not generally a fan of the Alfred film the fake infrared usually does not do it for me, but here it works

Hello all I know it's been a few days since posting work has been bordering on insanity.

Any way with the release of the be SnapPack I thought I would share what it looks like. Sorry no concerts lately but some not shots of a Harley Davidson shop will have to do. Gotta say I am liking this pack. Under general lighting conditions it looks like hell at least with the particular lens but in the dark it shines like a new Les Paul. Or Harley.

I can imagine this working put well. With this weekend being St. Pats I'm going to use it in some dimly lite areas and we will see more how it works at least I hope any way.

The last of the three is my daylight shot

Daylight Shooting Time

Libatique 73 and Pistil, this is quickly becoming one of my favorite combos, it works great for gritty portraits. I wanted to show what I was doing for daylight shooting time. I apologize for the repeat use of this combo but I truly like this.

Daylight Shooting Time

Lens: Matty ALN; Film: Blanko

2012-03-10T10:10:00.000-08:00

This was a totally cool find digging through old photos. This is an exceptionally cool alien land scape that was taken at lake Hodges in San Diego. This film and lens combo created another world. An acid sea and strange green land scape.

I also realized how well these to images fit together creating a singular more powerful image.

Approaching 1000

2012-03-08T10:53:00.001-08:00

Hello every one I just wanted every one to know this blog is rapidly approaching 1000 views. ( can you hear the peasants rejoicing). Ok sorry for the Monty Python reference, I'm kind of excited.

Any way I am trying to think of a good idea for a post when it does happen. Any one have any good ideas. If so hit me up.

Today's post. Lens: Libatique 73; film: dream canvas

I like the old almost rust look of this combo. Looks like an old color film before they had it dialed in correctly. Great for shots of dilapidated buildings and well random stacks of wood, boxes, and trash.

Lens: Jimmy; Film: DreamCanvas

2012-03-07T12:55:00.001-08:00

Took this shot on the bank of Dixon Lake in Escondido, Ca. I really enjoy the dreamy colors the washed out and uneven appearance of the print it some what reminds me of alternative processing.

Dream Canvas seems to lend itself to this and I think jimmy really helped pop the greens and yellows.

Lens libatique; film pistl

2012-03-06T08:51:00.001-08:00

Shot taken this weekend. This lens film combination is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Lens: Libatique; Film PistilSalton

2012-03-05T12:01:00.001-08:00

This film combination is great and I have started to truly love it especially for scenes like this. Overall it seems to deeply saturate the brown mid tones while washing out some of the grays to more of a antique feel.

These are a shots of the Salton Sea in California. The surreal dreamy quality of this is pretty cool and gives a sense of impending adventure.

Lens: Watts; Film Blanko noir

2012-02-10T00:28:00.000-08:00

What dont i love about this combination. High contrast, saturated color its great.

I love bridges always have love to photograph them. There is something in the journey about a bridge it is beautiful. Have i mentioned i love hipstamatic and its ability to allow only the thought of framing, its the new holga, maybe...

Queen Califua's Magical Circle

2011-12-08T23:16:00.000-08:00

Lazy Sunday afternoon at Kit Carson Park in Escondido, Ca. While there I visited the magical circle it truly was quite magical.

Queen Califua's Magical Circle
Aetist: Niki de Saint Phalle's

The overall size and scale of the sculptures are awe inspiring. To shoot this series I intentionally chose the hipsta settings. Lens John S film big up. This combo lends itself to a sharply contrasted with heavily saturated color print. Even the colored borders of Big Up that occasionally annoy me seem to add to these shots.

So this is my trip through the queens garden. If any one is ever in the neighborhood it's defiantly worth checking out.

Changes to format

2011-11-16T00:38:00.000-08:00

So if any one is paying attention i have not posted much lately. Life is kinda getting in the way so I have decided to change the format just a bit. I started this blog in the idea of shooting every film with every lens in the Hipstamatic app, while im still keeping this blog predominately orientated to the Hipstamatic images, im not going to go in such a linear fashion. I apologize for this but i would rather post more often and with better images than force those on a set schedule.

Lens: Kaimal Mark II; Film: BlacKeys Super Grain

Im not a huge Fan of these two working together I think the lens causes the print to be washed out near the center, and the contrast excessively decreased.

Lens: Tejas; Film: AO BW

This i like dirty high contrast. You know the exact opposite of what every one has told you to do. Love the vignetting, love the little scratches in the print. This is every thing you are not supposed to do in a print.

Lens: Lucifer VI; Film: Inas 1969

This is a great combo to me, the random color aberrations, and it is nice and beautifully sharp. I will be using it at lot me thinks.
