* Added another extension point, Jerry Services - a collection of independent common services that may also be wired using Spring. The only dependency would be on Jerry Core.

* Added EmailService as part of Jerry Services.

* Added another extension point, Jerry Taglib - a tag library containing common functionalities and wrappers for Jerry Core services.

* Added an InsertResource tag, used to generate proper linking URL for CSS/SCRIPTs with proper URLs including the application context.

Google Static Maps API

Just checked-in the code for Google Static Maps API. It is an ultra-thin wrapper over programmatic access for generation of image URLs using the Google API.

The code is available under the Jerry/src/jerry/apis/google/maps directory. Javadocs and binaries ready-to-use are on the way.

A very simple usage example is as under,

    GoogleStaticMap map = new GoogleStaticMap(40.709028,-74.018672, 512, 512, "myKey");
    map.setZoom(14);
    map.addMarker(40.702147,-74.015794, "blue", 's');
    map.addMarker(41.702147,-75.015794, "red", 'a');
    map.setMapType(GoogleStaticMap.MAP_TYPE_MOBILE);
    response.write(map);

Greetings to all!!!

Today, We welcome yet another helping hand. One of my very good friends has joined the project today. This is another brick in the foundation we are building. His presence would increase the pace of development, not just because of work, but his being a constant source of motivation and inspiration.

Who is he? Well, you would have to wait for a day, when I introduce all my friends on board.

My First Step!

Yesterday, I took my first step. It was a very small step in the course I pursue, but it a big one, as it marks the start of actual journey.

Back to basics - the first prototype for Filter Manager is complete. What exactly is the Filter Manager? Well, it is a sort of admin service where-in one would be able to deploy filters, modify their properties, activate/de-activate them on the fly, without restarting the container. This provides an authoritative control over what runs inside the application over the web.

It is based on the Intercepting Filter pattern, and is able to use any filter, without any code modification, as its sub-filter (but with limitations) and vice-versa. Meaning you could use any filter that you write for me, as a normal filter in any other web application as a usual filter.

To harness the complete power of the Filter Manager, you might need to modify your existing filters to comply with a contract, so as to provide additional functionality to activate/deactivate/refresh.

I am still a long way to my first destination, but for those of you curious, you can check the code in the repository.
