I moved to a larger condo, took some great courses and just got word I've received a third FACTOR demo award.  This means I will be back in the studio once again with Ron Lopata working on 2 new songs.

One of the songs I plan to record will feature tuba, trumpets and stand up bass. Looking forward to that one. The other will be a more basic production of the song I co-wrote with JC Smith from Ole.

Today I co-wrote with JC Smith of Ole Publishing. We came up with a very pretty song called "My Happy Place".  Don't let the title fool you, we both feel it's quite a gem.  I look forward to working with JC more in the future as we happen to be neighbours :)

We had a great chat over breakfast and he was extremely helpful. It's nice to meet people I click with. Rob provided me with a few choice publishing contacts and encouraged me to introduce myself.  While he is not the first to give me this push, I feel more prepared now than ever before to start developing a rapport with the various publishing companies.

I also received 250 copies of the 91.5 The Beat compilation which includes "We Wanna Be Free" and the singles from the other 4 winners of the contest.

After 3-4 years of pushing on slowly, I have a nice physical product to push.  I have a few contacts I have already sent the EP to in hopes of getting some FM spins.

Still moving forward with plans to record 2 demos with Ron Lopata. More update on the way.

I am pleased to announce that FACTOR has approved an application of mine for funding.  Basically this agency which is funded by the Government is giving me money to record music. I don't have to pay it back. It is a grant that is given to support the creation of music.

This weekend's workshop spawned 3 new songs with a variety of other writers, overseen by professional writers John Capek and Stan Meissner (seen above). The titles are as follows.

"She's No You" written with Adrienne Leopold and Steven Demetrious
"Gotta Be #1" written with Denis Chadbourne and Sonya Lapensee
"Little White Lies" written with Tara Shannon and George Axon

It was an enjoyable weekend in which lots was learned and I had a chance to practice the art of cowriting not to mention patience and humility :)

"Time Waits For No Man" somehow made its way onto CIXX - London 106.9 FM which is Fanshawe College's radio station. Big props to them for spinning my tune and I plan to send them a CD with more material tomorrow :)
