I had already forgiven him
I proved that by driving there
I wanted to show him off

When will this poison dissipate?

Dear readers

I was in Livingston studios on Sunday with their lovely baby grand piano, and the wonderful Leo Osborn.

The Songs 'Caledonian Sleeper' and 'Valentine's Day' were treated to Leo's ivoric tinkledom.

And here is a hilarious outtake (we didn't actually get an 'intake' - I wanted to lie on the piano but Kev said the lid would squash the microphones - killjoy).

In the interim, before the outer rim of my debut 'studio' album, 'More Quirk, Less Work' - an album of acoustic streams of consciousnesses; overspills from my Debut album 'Insert Quirky Title Here...' - is available for download. Yes of course you understood that sentence.

...Just recorded lovely double bass by Tom Herbert (Polar Bear, Acoustic Ladyland) for the new album.

I'm really looking forward to how these tracks will sound! A track called Caledonian Sleeper, one called My Secret Hell, and we did some double bass on the new recording of What Is It In You? Which will NOT sound the same as the old version! Eeeek!

Tom and Kevin Feazey (with whom I am co-producing the album) have exactly the same beard. I'm so sorry I did not get a photo opportunity in. You'll just have to take my word for it. I do not have the same beard as either Tom Herbert or Kevin Feazey. We had a lovely conversation about war and governments, conspiracies and responsibility. Sociological debate is mandatory in my house. Kev instructed me to hide the Shania Twain video I had in my bedroom (the recording room). I'm of the understanding that every human being holds Shania Twain's lightbeam closely to their hearts. She's for the people. But sometimes her music is misconstrued and, to unenlightened people, can seem quite scary. As a result of the concealed video, working its power under a Tori Amos VHS and some remote controls, Tom's bass parts were performed excellently. Some even with a bow! Sumptuous loveliness (musicianship has become like food and/or a good quality John Lewis feather duvet to me).

And of course the new album will be finished soon. It is a 'radio friendly' album, so I will be punting it to big labels. I'll keep you posted if it pays off.

I will shortly release, on BandCamp, an EP I originally released via the web last year via Wears the Trousers Magazine, called 'The Bastard Left Me'. It consists of mostly f***ed up songs (the best kind) that didn't make my 2007 album 'Insert Quirky Title Here', some new ones that won't make the next album; all are good and angry in their own way. Antisocial but Productive

Peckham Finishing School for girls - EMOTIONAL!

I watched all three episodes of Peckham Finishing School for Girls and thought it was just amazing! Started thinking... bit of crappy BBC3 entertainment to eat medinner with but by the end I was HOOKED! Then inspired, then I cried! I wish they'd have made more! Was a great insight into human beings, trying their best to transcend differences, and make changes in their own lives.

I am absolutely in LOVE with Kerri-Ann - She's a girl I'd love to meet up with for coffee (or tea). (And a fag.) Or collaborate! From the snippet they showed, she seems like a really good songwriter! I hope she gets more than 87 pounds a fortnight soon... I think you get more when older than 25...

A rather lovely odd day (therefore lengthy blog)

So originally I was well pissed off to be missing the football as I had previously liked to watch England play around with the ball, (like it's food on their plate but they're not hungry) in pubs, and identify with men, whom I usually don't identify well with, because I am a woman you see.

Of course I would have forsaken even any ideas of football in my head if my beloved Grandfather had been able to attend a reading of his poetry, which happened at Lauderdale House in Highgate today. Alas he could not. Though it was LOVELY! Nice to hear Don's poems read out loud, and great gluten-free sandwiches and juice too (food obsessed).

And so straight after, I clocked the familiar face of this girl I used to idolise from this children's drama I watched as a child. Trying to remember the name of it, I told my sister. 'Moon something, moon something...'

I'm a bit funny around famous people (I'll blog another time about the Captain Darling party toilet incident), and especially people I really remember or have been hugely inspired by, so I couldn't dare go up to her, and was quite happy with a 'See you later' I got from her at the door. Anyway my aunt who had had some champagne (feck, sounds well posh) took me over to her to talk a bit more, and I of course felt like a complete t**t especially because after she told me it was Moondial she was in, I started going on about her shoes in it and only realised later that I got confused between her shoes and the shoes in the Clarks advert I really wanted. I digress into personal expiation. Anyway, then I couldn't go to the toilet, because it had officially closed, and there were people doing experimental dance to MC Hammer (indeed), and she still hadn't left, so she took me by the hand to the toilet which felt like some great personal growth experience to be taken to the toilet later in life by my idol from when I was nine and then her say 'you'll be alright on the way back won't you?' And me to say 'yeeeenoyeeees' but mean 'YES YES I WILL be very alright now you have released me and made me into an independent WOMAN who can come back from the toilet and fight through the experimental MC Hammer dancers ALONE!!!' (me, famous people, idolisation and toilets: A theme).

And then we met Sylvester McCoy (my favourite Dr Who)! Who the Moondial lady had said earlier read my Grandfather's poetry very well one time, so we asked him to read one and he did (unfortunately I took it sideways then I tried to convert it with free software and it didn't go well, so the straight vid is below but really sped up, and the proper one is here but sideways).

So after all of that jocularity amongst famous people we left (with a flower and a vase - no need to question) to go to Tesco and get Pizza Express pizza (yes it's an advert) and sit in the park and eat it. But before that, Craig (brother of sorts) got tired of holding vase so put it outside tesco next to dog. Dog was hot so drank water. Picture to show:

My word it has been a long day today...!

Haw haw!! see my joke there then that I did...

I seem to be addicted to Ryan Adams, sleep (at any time) and Caperberries. So there you go.

Small news is I'm doing a cute little community festival in East Barnet on Sat 3rd July, playing some time between 3 and 5pm... Come up if it's sunny!
