I decided to embrace the 80s for my trip to Southerndown beach in South Wales last weekend. I matched my bright purple and pink swimsuit with the new Oxford St Fuchsia lipstick shade from Rimmel London. You can read my review of the new Rimmel lipstick shades on Sugarscape here.

I had my nails done by Red Carpet Manicure last week. I chose bright red, but it just ends up clashing with most of my outfits. It's supposed to last up to three weeks but I already have a few chips after four days, so it's not looking too good for my review so far!

Invites for London Fashion Week started coming in at work today. After years of following the whole thing online and through Twitter, it'll be great to actually be there and see some shows. Now I'll just have to work out what to wear...

So a couple of weeks ago I went to Notting Hill Carnival. These pictures are from the Sunday, because the Monday was far too messy to document. The main thing I thought about when choosing an outfit was being comfortable. For me this means wearing my Vans and a huge oversized denim jacket. Surrounded by people wearing face paint and feathers I didn't feel festive enough so I picked up my headband from a stall. It felt very fitting at the time, although I don't think I'll be getting it out again!

At the end of the night we found this painting of Usain Bolt. Couldn't resist copying his slightly wonky celebration gesture...

I went to V Festival in Hylands Park this weekend with the girls from Sugarscape. It was so hot we thought we were going to melt! I wore this outfit on the first day we arrived. Cut-offs were definitely the way to go but I stood out like a sore thumb around all the Essex girls in their bikini tops and even smaller shorts! It was so hot I had to plait my hair back, long hair is not good in the heat.

We spent lot of time wandering around looking for good street style for Sugarscape (harder than you might think!) We also spent a good amount of time sat in the shade in hospitality with super cold beer. The heat was unbearable!

When the temperature finally cooled down we caught a bit of David Guetta before heading off to watch Ed Sheeran.

Styled to Rock launch at The Box, Soho

Last Thursday I was invited by the kind girls at Diet Coke to attend the Styled to Rock launch party at The Box, Soho.

Styled to Rock is a new show being produced by Rihanna to find a new hot young designer.

You can read my interview with Henry Holland, who's a judge on the new show here.

I also spoke to Rihanna's stylist Lysa Cooper, but we'll save that interview for closer to when the show starts on Sky Living on August 14.

I was also *this* close to talking to the lovely Nicola Roberts. But unfortunately my blagging skills were no match for her PR. I wrote about her outfit here.

But I did grab a chat with the amazing Bip Ling and that totally made up for being Nicola-less.

Bip's going to be a mentor on the show in one of the episodes. She said she put her vintage clothing skills to use for a special challenge!

I just love her Louis Vuitton, Yayoi Kusama sunglasses. She's so cute!

Meanwhile, we sent Kate for strawberry ciders and she came back with the most disgusting white wine EVER. #drinksfail

I wore this out last Friday to Camden with my housemates. I don't usually like bodycon dresses, but the thick knit of this Urban Outfitters dress is really easy to wear. I matched the dark wine colour of the dress to my lipstick. I bought the MAC diva shade when I was in New York at Christmas and don't usually wear it in the summer, but the rubbish weather we're having is a perfect excuse to wear autumn shades now!

17 Dazzle The Night (£2.99 available at Boots from November), LAQA & CO Nail Polish Pen in Birthday Suit and Topcoat (£11 each from Asos), W7 Stronger & Longer Nail Treatment (£1.99 available from Fragrance Direct).

I started out this nail look because I wanted to try out the new LAQA & CO nail polish pens. But after two coats I was disappointed with how difficult the pen was to use and the finish was streaky and uneven. The packaging and design of the product is flawless, but the nail polish itself isn't worth the £11 price tag.

I was about to take it all off and try another colour when I remembered I had my 17 Dazzle the Night nail polish to try from the Boots Christmas press day a couple of weeks ago.

I just used one coat of the gold shimmery glitter and it completely transformed my nails. The streaks in the colour were covered and I was left with this lovely pastel pink shimmer nail look.

I finished my nails with the LAQA & CO topcoat nail polish pen to seal the colour.

Now I can't wait to try out the Dazzle the Night colour with my other nail colours. It adds a touch of sparkle to transform the colour. It goes to show paying more for beauty products doesn't always pay off. This £2.99 bargain will be perfect for Christmas!

A vintage maxi dress is my favourite thing to wear on these chilly July days because I can feel summery but still wear the socks and boots I need to keep warm! I love the batik print of this dress. It reminds me of something my mum would have worn in the 80s. I threw my customary biker jacket over the top to toughen it up. What are you wearing to keep warm this July?
