One of the most anticipated moments at Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL 2025 was the Thai SELECT Award Ceremony, held at MITEC’s Main Stage. Organised by DITP Malaysia under Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, the event celebrated 53 Thai restaurants in Malaysia for their excellence in serving authentic Thai cuisine - a proud recognition directly from the Thai government.

What Is Thai SELECT?

Thai SELECT is not just any food award. It’s an official certification from the Thai Ministry of Commerce, given only to restaurants that meet high standards of authenticity, taste, ingredients, and traditional preparation. In short, it's a government-backed guarantee that the food truly reflects what you’d find in Thailand.

Celebrating the 53 Winners

Each awarded restaurant proudly received the Thai SELECT certificate, symbolising their commitment to preserving real Thai flavours and culinary traditions in Malaysia. These restaurants span a variety of dining styles -from casual eateries to fine-dining spots -all staying true to the heart of Thai cooking.

The ceremony was more than just awards. It was a celebration of cultural connection, culinary pride, and the growing demand for authentic Thai food in Malaysia.

Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL 2025 (FDM 2025) wrapped up successfully at MITEC Kuala Lumpur, bringing together the best of global food innovation, strategic trade partnerships, and future-focused agri-food solutions. Organised by Comexposium under the renowned SIAL Network, the event solidified Malaysia’s growing status as Southeast Asia’s gateway for food innovation and export.

Over three impactful days, the event welcomed more than 18,000 trade visitors, 500 exhibitors from 60 countries, and 20+ country pavilions, drawing stakeholders from across ASEAN, Europe, and North America.

Held from 1 July - 3 July 2025, FDM 2025 was officiated by YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation & Commodities, alongside YB Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy, Sabah’s Assistant Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship. Their presence highlighted Malaysia’s public-private commitment to transforming its agri-food ecosystem through innovation, halal leadership, and sustainability.

Dining With The Queens: Legumes “Nyonya” Mother’s Day Buffet, A Treat Fit For A Queen

Malaysia's renowned catering brand Legumes set the scene for a spectacular Mother’s Day celebration by hosting a dazzling preview event. Held at the Fun Fun Event Space in Puchong, the luncheon wowed attendees with exquisite culinary creations and lively entertainment. This event served as an enticing preview for "Dining With The Queens," an upcoming three-day buffet dinner dedicated to honoring mothers.

The highlight of the preview was the engaging presentations by Legumes CEO and co-founder Ms. Siow Miqi and Sales Director Mr. Earon Teh. Ms. Miqi shared the story of Legumes’ history and its evolution into a renowned catering brand. She also spoke about the inspiration behind this year’s Mother’s Day buffet event.

Mr. Earon Teh then outlined Legumes’ current range of services and upcoming projects. He detailed plans to cater to universities and local institutions, and introduced a new range of Legumes "Mini Buffet" offerings designed for smaller, more casual, and private functions. Additionally, he unveiled the brand’s new logo and brand assets, which will reflect their expanding ventures.

Very delicious and unique, I've never had anything like this before. Although panna cotta is a Western dessert, incorporating local ingredients like longan and black glutinous rice transforms it into a fusion dish that is very creamy, sweet, and appetizing.

Nyonya kuih was equally good too! The right taste and texture!

The preview event wasn't solely focused on food; it also featured a showcase of "drop-off catering" services along with a thematic buffet titled "Moonlight Oriental." Additionally, Legumes offers other thematic buffets such as "Great Gatsby" and "Sunshine," providing a diverse array of options to suit various preferences and occasions.

The buffet line was meticulously organized, radiating an aura of luxury, elegance, and charm down to the finest detail.

Guests were delighted to engage in a variety of activities, from crafting DIY flower baskets for mom to playing a themed word search game centered around the Mother’s Day celebration.

The Dining With The Queens Mother’s Day Dinner buffet is scheduled from May 10 to 12, also at the Fun Fun Event Space. Recently I attended the Flavours of Festivity: Epicurean Delights for Raya, a pre-Ramadan celebra,on hosted by California Raisins at Texture by C3 Lab in Atria Shopping Mall.

Upon arriving, I was impressed by the diverse ways California Raisins could be enjoyed during the festive Ramadan season, showcasing their versatility and everyday appeal, whether in cooking, baking, or crafting a delicious drink.

The event started with a captivating introduction to California Raisins, exploring how they journey from vineyards to our tables, adding flavor to both special occasions and everyday meals.

Loved for their sweetness and health benefits, California Raisins were the star of the show, enchanting everyone with their versatility and deliciousness.

As I arrived, I was greeted by the aroma of pastries and drinks featuring California Raisins. I headed to the Raisin Garden, where I explored the diverse varieties, savoring their unique flavors and
textures. It was an immersive experience highlighting the culinary potential of raisins.

This Vegan Milkshake made with California Raisins is absolutely delicious! It would be great to see it available in cafes!

We enjoyed a variety of culinary creations featuring raisins, presented by two well-known pastry chefs from Malaysia. These demonstrations offered innovative recipe ideas, combining traditional Raya flavors with modern culinary methods.

Chef Aison is a skilled artisan baker with a rich culinary background, celebrated for his creativity in crafting artisanal baked goods.

He showcased his talent by creating several unique pastries featuring California Raisins, such as California Raisin Hazelnut Babka, California Raisin Kouign-Amann, and California Raisin Carrot Cinnabon.

On the other hand, Chef Lawrence Bobo, nicknamed 'The Mad Scientist' for his innovative approach to pastries and confectioneries, brought his expertise in patisserie to the table.

He crafted a series of delectable treats including California Raisin Apple Tarte Tatin, California Raisin Chocolate Orange Cake, and California Raisin Vanilla Petit Gateau.

During lunch, we had the chance to indulge in a full epicurean experience.

We started with a refreshing California Raisin & Calamansi Spritzer and a California Raisin Waldorf Salad as an appetizer.

For the main course, we were treated to delicious hot dishes and bakes featuring California Raisins.

This Nasi Berani with raisin served with juicy grilled chicken is absolutely my favourite!

The meal concluded on a sweet note with a mouthwatering California Raisin Apple Tarte Tatin, followed by delightful California Raisin Chocolate Cake

And California Raisin Vanilla Cake as the grand finale of our lunch!

Thanks to these two talented chefs for serving us delicious food infused with California raisins!

As the event came to an end, each of us was handed a tote bag filled with California Raisin snacks to take home. We also received booklets featuring recipes from Chef Aison and Chef Lawrence Bobo, giving us the chance to try making these delicious treats ourselves.

The event really emphasized how incorporating California Raisins into our daily diets, especially during festive seasons, can have lifestyle benefits. As a natural sweetener and easy snack, they perfectly suit the preferences of health-conscious individuals like me.

Ms. Margaret Beales, an international beauty specialist from Spain with over 35 years of experience. She shared valuable insights on the significance of early skincare regimes for maintaining skin health and preventing premature aging.

She also demonstrated how to apply the Eternal range for the best effect on stage.

This was followed by a presentation of awards given to the brand and its associates presented by SISTERS magazine. Unique Aesthetics Sdn Bhd was honored with the Top Leading Trusted Company For Professional Brand 2023/2024 award.

The Skeyndor Eternal Series also received the New Successful Product Innovation of The Year 2023/2024. La Skinz Beauty Centre was recognized with Editor’s Best Choice 2023/2024 and The Best Service of Beauty Salon 2023/2024 awards.

The event also marked the launch of Skeyndor's Christmas and New Year CSR project, benefiting Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras, home to 123 children. Gifts were received by En. Jamalludin bin Wahab, the principal of Rumah Kasih Harmoni on stage.

Experience the Jingle and Magic of the U.S. Potatoes Festive Extravaganza

The Jingle U.S. Potatoes All The Way Christmas Workshop, a unique culinary event celebrating the versatility and flavor of U.S. potatoes, took invited guests and influencers on an immersive journey through the world of potatoes. Hosted at FunFun Event Space in Puchong, the event featured a variety of activities, cooking demonstrations and interactive workshops. Although it was a very long drive to Puchong it's all worth it because I have fun!

The event kicked off with guests arriving to a vibrant product showcase. They were presented with a Potato Christmas Garden displaying an array of U.S. fresh potato varieties such as Russet, Red, and Purple along with different cuts of frozen U.S. potatoes as well as instant U.S. mashed potatoes mixes.

I had the pleasure of attending the Maysense The Enchanted Beauty, the Gift of Life event at ParkRoyal Collection Kuala Lumpur recently. The atmosphere was truly glamorous, and I couldn't help but feel a tad underdressed. The event looked really nice, and the event was well-organized!

The launch, MAYSENSE’s inaugural event in Malaysia, took place at the stylish PARKROYAL COLLECTION in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, attended by MAYSENSE team members and business partners, notable wellness influencers and invited guests.

There were seven stations dedicated to each of the products, with a final station for us to experience the products for ourselves.

MAYSENSE commemorated the moment by taking pictures at a special photo booth and joining an Instagram contest, an exciting line-up of programmes complete with a lovely lunch to serenade the crowd.

The event began with a speech by Mr Hank Yan, the Chief Operating Officer of MAYSENSE. He said: “Our journey, deeply rooted in science and inspired by nature, has always been about harnessing the purest ingredients to create products that not only enhance beauty but also promote holistic wellbeing. MYAirline Announces Temporarily Suspension of Operations starting 12 Oct Until Further Notice

MYAirline, which began in 2021 and took off for the first time in December 2022 with leased Airbus A320 planes, has been making headlines for a range of issues. These include the sudden departure of their CEO, Rayner Teo, and difficulties in paying their service providers and employees on time.

Since 21 August, MYAirline reduced the number of available seats on domestic flights by 25%. They've also had trouble operating at busy airports, like Singapore Changi Airport, due to limited landing slots, even though they were given a two-year extension by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.

Up to yesterday, news broke that MYAirline is close to securing a new investor, potentially Abang Abdillah Izzarim Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, the son of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. This could provide much-needed financial relief for the struggling airline.

The recent suspension of services has surprised many. I haven't had the chance to fly with MYAirline yet, and I hope they can get back to regular operations soon.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, 12 October 2023 – MYAirline regrettably announces the suspension of its operations effective 12 October 2023 until further notice. The airline has come to this extremely painful decision because of significant financial pressures that have made it necessary to suspend operations pending the shareholder restructuring and recapitalization of the airline.

In a statement from the Board of Directors, MYAirline said "We deeply regret and apologize for having to make this decision as we understand the impact it will have on our loyal passengers, dedicated employees and partners. We have worked tirelessly to explore various partnership and capital raising options to prevent this suspension. Unfortunately, the constraints of time have left us with no alternative but to take this decision."

We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and we are committed to assisting you through this situation. Kindly reach out to us at customercare@myairline.my, and our support team will be readily available to provide their assistance. In the meantime, we are advising affected passengers to not head to the airport and seek for alternative travel arrangements to their destinations.

The Board, shareholders and all of us at MYAirline will be working tirelessly to resume operations as quickly as possible but at this stage we are unable to commit to any timeline. We reiterate our sincerest apologies for any difficulty and inconvenience arising from this suspension and will do our utmost to provide any updates which become available.

Discovering Wonders of Blueberries at the Blueberry Wonder Workshop

I have always love blueberry and I am a big fan of Oregon Washington Blueberries! I am thankful to be invited by Oregon Washington Blueberries to dove into a world of health and flavour at the Blueberry Wonder Workshop which took place at Wellness City in Bukit Jalil.

This event was a real treat for the senses, offering a wonderful mix of interesting talks, cooking demonstrations, hands-on activities, and delicious treats all centered around the healthy Oregon Washington Blueberries.

The workshop kicked off with an engaging speech by Mr. Eddie Saw, who represents US Blueberries in Malaysia. He talked about the fascinating history of blueberries and their transformation into a superfood. A representative from KL Wellness City, the venue sponsor, also shared some insights about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, which fit well with the wellness-focused event.

Wellness advocate and social media personality Iman Azman spoke passionately about the importance of blueberries in our everyday lives. These tiny but powerful berries have become a regular part of modern diets because of their outstanding nutritional benefits and their ability to be added to a wide variety of dishes and beverages.

Iman added, “My little ones especially, love blueberries in their cupcakes and as a parent I feel more assured adding fresh quality and nutritious ingredients into their favorite snacks and drinks.”

The event's culinary experience was made even better by Chef Zie Zie, who showed how to make a delicious Seared Chicken Quinoa Bowl with Fresh Blueberries.

If you’re not one to ride with the waves of nature, but really enjoy thrilling activities, you can opt for jet-skiing and water-skiing. If you’re more into fun and games, bowling will be a way to go.

I have to admit, Putrajaya is a world of its own, and the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel is a world of its own too. The moment you step inside, you will be blown away by the majestic of...EVERYTHING! The grand lobby is, well, grand! It’s like walking in a shimmering gold light castle with window panes overseeing the expand sky outside.

When you walk into the dining area, you will be drawn by the seductive smell of pastries, main dishes and all aroma you can possibly identify. Do you like Japanese food? Go to the Midori Japanese Restaurant. Do you like Chinese food? Go to the Summer Palace Chinese Restaurant. Do you like Italian food? Head on to the Tuscany Italian Restaurant & Pizza Bar. Just thinking about it makes me hungry. I’ll be right back! Okay, I’m back!

Gotta grab some bites if you know what I mean. Okay, where were we? Oh, the wonders of food. I love food. Let’s head to the last wonders I can think of when I think of this hotel, the accommodation!

As some of you might know, I moved in to my own place on 12/12/18 and I am busy shopping for furniture and electrical applicants to fill up my place.

For once I fulfilled my childhood dream to have my own pink princess room lol

My shopping list is never ending and I always on the look out for good deal so that I can save more to buy more items! Need to be smart shopper eh!

So I have heard of Desa Home as it's pretty popular among Kepong folks (ah Kepong is my fav place to go for steamboat!). And one of my 2019 resolution is to live a healthier lifestyle. I have started to swim regularly, go to gym & even started cycling! I tried to make sure that I exercise 3-5 times per week. Part of the plan also to change my eating habits which I want to have less carb, less oil, salt, preservative and MSG - which means less outside food, more home cooked food!

Hence I decided to buy Philips Viva Collection All-In-One Cooker HD2137 after reading so many good reviews about this. After checking few places, I decided to get it at Desa Home because the price is really affordable at RM 529!

This machine can slow cook, pressure cook & multi cook very fast. Super amazing cooker, cos this can even bake & make yogurt! I'm really in love with it!

I made Lotus Peanut soup with ribs in pressure cook mode for my dinner. Foolproof recipe, all the ingredients put in the pot and press"Pressure Cook" mode and "Start". My soup is ready in 20 mins :)

Nowadays I cooked for my meals every often, before I go work to bring lunch to office and after work too, cos this magic multi cooker saves me a lot of time & effort :D Best investment ever!

My Sharp Air Purifer FPJ30LB, I bought it for RM 339. I was advised to get this model as the coverage area is 23m² and will be perfect for my room size. Main reason I need this is because my previous air purifier stopped working after 7 years. As some of you might know, I got sinus with really sensitive nose (especially to smoke & dusts) and I'm allergy to dust mite ( I did an allergy test in hospital to know about this!)

I read that this new model can remove mold, viruses, allergens, odors and static electricity from the air. Also I personally think that this has more powerful air suction compared to my previous one. Also I can't wait to ON the Haze mode function when Indonesian starts burning the forests/plantation again...lol (better still please stop burning!)

I think clean air is the first step to healthy living hence this is definitely a must buy for everyone lol! Honestly feel i sneeze lesser and sleeps better at night too! When my mum came for a visit & slept over with me a while ago, she said my room air smell fresher and air feel cooler compared to my brother's room. So immediately she asked me to help her to buy one and put in her room back in Johor. I think unless one experiences it the difference it's quite hard to convince anyone cos air is still air too many people.. (Hahah now I sound like Sharp salesman already, this is my honest testimonial k!)

I like the clear top window on the lipstick case making my life easier by looking at the shades at a snap rather than opening one by one to pick the colour, whether it’s in a cluttered handbag or makeup drawer.

This town is far from being a little quaint. It’s seen a rise in tourism-based businesses that caters to much of the traffic that comes in. As one of the most sacred and revered landmarks, the Big Buddha attracts its fair share of visitors from all around the world. For both religious and sight-seeing reasons, this 45 meters tall humongous statue of a sitting Buddha sits at the top of Nakkerd Hills, overseeing Chalong, Kata and Rawai. The drive up to Nakkerd Hills is an experience in itself, with a majestic view of the island at your disposal.

6. Wat Chalong and the Phuket Temples

Also in Chalong is one of Phuket's most important temples. A Buddhist temple with a seemingly endless glass decor adorning the building, it’s quite a sight for the everyday vacationer. STEP 1

Gently massage the skin on your neck, lifting it by sliding your fingertips towards the front of your ears, with your palm on the jaw. Repeat three times.

I have been traveling quite intensely for the past few months since August from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh, Mui Ne, Nha Trang and Dalat (and I got a trip in coming 2 week time!) and to keep my skin healthy is not easy. If I could bring my Panasonic Nanocare Facial Steamer would be great but I think to pack a few tubes of skincare seems more convenient.
