As Americans flying in and out of Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino airport (FCO) we often use the Leonardo Express train located at the airport for a non-stop 32-minute ride departing almost every 15 minutes to central Rome at Roma Termini train station. Follow signage for the train once you depart customs, take the nearby escalator up, and cross the sky bridge to the train where you can purchase your ticket. We usually buy the 14€ ticket online at trenitalia.com and change the language to English by selecting from the main page on the top right-hand corner, which is the Union Jack flag for English. The Leonardo Express ticket is good for any time on the day you select, so if you buy a ticket but are delayed you can take the next train without changing tickets. Service conveniently runs from Rome FCO airport to Roma Termini train station from 6:08 am to 11:23 pm and from Roma Termini train station to FCO airport from 5:20 am to 10:35 pm.

Good news, save big when buying a Mini-group of 4 Leonardo Express tickets at the same booking, 10€ each, and children aged 15 and under have reduced fares.

Once at Roma Termini train station, continue your journey on a train to most of Italy, or find the taxi queue that is located outside the front doors. See our future articles on travel destinations throughout Italy, as well as first-hand Italian hotels, restaurants, wineries, and event recommendations. Fancy attending a wine tasting or yoga festival, and of course lots about churches and museums, we are here to help your dreams come true! More travel fun, less jet lag!

Janet’s travel tip: check Italy’s official website for upcoming strikes that may affect your travel at

https://scioperi.mit.gov.it/mit2/public/scioperi

and just use Google Translate! As you can see, strikes are announced well in advance and although may not directly affect your travel, still good to know.
