Jets Making the Playoffs? Stranger things have happened!

Sure.... the Jets making the post season this year looks like a long shot. But ya know... stranger things have happened. Take 2009 for instance. After the Jets lose to Atlanta by a score of 10-7 in week 15, Rex Ryan says the Jets are out of it only to find out later that statistically, they still had a shot.

Yes it was a long shot but it was a shot. With week 16 looming and the Jets heading into Indianapolis to take on the undefeated Colts (boy have things changed in a scant two years huh) the Jets needed a series of unlikely events to unfold. According to the reports, for the Jets to make the playoffs they needed to:

Beat Indianapolis (14-0),
Hope Jacksonville (7-7) loses at New England (9-5), AND
Miami (7-7) loses vs. Houston (7-7) at home.

In addition to that the Jets also needed either of the following:

Have Baltimore (8-6) lose at Pittsburgh (7-7), OR
Denver (8-6) lose at Philadelphia (10-4).

It was a serious long shot and we seemed in need of an act of God for things to swing in our favor. Guess what happened:

Our Jets beat Indy 29-15 (yeah, yeah, I know... Peyton sat out... boo hoo)
New England beat the Jaguars 35-7
Houston beat Miami 27-20
Pittsburgh beat Baltimore 23-20 and
Philadelphia beat Denver 30-27

Whod'a thunk it?

The unthinkable happened and the Jets went on a road winning streak to get to the AFC Championship game. Is it possible that history repeats itself again... WHY NOT?

The miracle the Jets need this year is about as unlikely but no less possible.

First... the Jets (8-7) need to beat the Dolphins (5-10) in Miami to have any chance.
Next, we need Baltimore (11-4) to knock of division rivals Cincinnati (9-6) and
Houston (10-5) at home needs to take out Tennessee (8-7)
Finally we need either Oakland (8-7) at home to lose to San Diego (7-8) or
Denver (8-7) to lose at home against Kansas City (6-9)

However unlikely... it's certainly not impossible. I'm going into Sunday with an open mind and not less than a few prayers to the football gods. Maybe you'll join me? I mean what the hell... stranger things have happened (and only a couple of years ago too).

Meet Jets Super Bowl III Champ Mike Stromberg at Peabody's this Weekend.

Hey Jets Fans,

As if you didn't have enough great reasons to come out to Peabody's this Saturday to watch our Jets take on Stadium rival New York Giants... now you've got another.

I received a call today from Mike Stromberg of the Super Bowl III New York Jets team and he and his family plan on joining us at Peabody's for the game Saturday. This will be Mike's second appearance at the fan club as both he and Earl Christy attended a game last season. Not sure if Earl is available or not for the game but Mike is a great guy and we are very excited to have him back at Peabody's with us.

Be sure to bring your autograph book as Mike is always willing to take a picture or sign something for the fans.

Secret Santa & Jets / Giants game at Fan Club on Saturday.

I know it's been a rough couple of days after the disaster of a game in Philly. But as always, our Jets come on strong at the end of the year and are still in the hunt for a playoff birth. Jets Primed to Hand Pats 3rd Loss in a Row!

Hey Jets Fans,

In the words of my man Bart Scott, I "CAN'T WAIT" for the Jets / Putz game this Sunday Night!

The anticipation for this game is as close to a playoff feel that you can get midway through the season. Could we have asked for a better way to take over the AFC East than by taking on the hated New England Cheatriots at JetLife Stadium and beating their asses on National Television? I think not!!!

This is a game the Jets must win to prove to the nation that we in fact are the dominant force in the AFC East not the Cheatriots! I believe we have everything going our way for that to happen. We are firing on all cylinders at the right time and are taking on a team that has lost two and is not looking all that special at the moment. Rex, the team, and the fans are ready to take over the East and stay on top all the way to home field advantage for the playoffs.

Now I know this game is on national television and I know it's on a Sunday night and that you all have to work on Monday and yadda, yadda, yadda.

I say that's all a load of CRAP and are just a bunch of lame EXCUSES!

What you need to do is grab a friend (or five) and get your asses into your car and head over to Peabody's to join us for the game. Make believe you had tickets to the actual game at the Stadium and make a day of it.

Sure it's easier to sit at home and watch the game in your underwear or something than it is to make an effort to come out to P's. But come on... sitting at home simply can't compare to the Stadium worthy atmosphere of watching the game with 100+ of your closest Jets Fan Cub family members.

The level of excitement during the game, the tension of a big third down, the euphoria of the win... it's simply not the same when you sitting home alone. Sure you may be a little tired on Monday morning but you'll be happy you came out and your Jets are worth it, aren't they!

So... no excuses people! I expect to see you all on Sunday night for the biggest game of the season. I've got a whole bunch of new Jets merchandise for the raffle and we've been asked to record a video prior to the start of the game that just may wind up in front of some NBC and/or NFL reps. You gotta be there to be a part of it.

Ready to take over the AFC East? I am.

Jets vs. Pats: A Battle For First

With first place in the AFC East at stake the Jets take on division rival New England Cheatriots. Usually facing the Cheatriots strikes fear and negativity into most Jets fans across the nation. This time around it feels a little different however. The Patriots appear to be heading for rock bottom, and the Jets are playing the best football they have all year. Not to mention the Patriots are coming to JetLife Stadium where the Jets have yet to be defeated (4-0)

Since ending their consecutive games with 30+ points, the Patriots have failed to put up 30 or more points since. For the first time in seemingly ever they have lost at home and have lost back to back games. They do not have an easy task at hand avoiding three straight losses, which might call for Tom Brady’s execution and Billacheats job termination by loser Boston fans everywhere.

Let’s look at the facts: In the words of Jets LB Bart Scott, the Cheatriots “can’t stop a nosebleed!” The Jets ever improving run game will find holes all over the field and dominate time of possession much like in Buffablow. This again will leave the passing game wide open for Sanchez, who despite a horrific interception in the endzone last week and a dropped snap has played flawless football the last few weeks. If you take away the debacle in Baltimore Sanchez’s QBR on the year would be 95 and good for 7^th in the league.

On the offensive side of the ball New England poses no threat to any team, let alone the team with arguably the best secondary in the NFL. They have no deep threat, or any ability, besides that midget Wes Welker, to get open forcing Brady to throw in to coverage more than….ever…leading to a heavy increase in interceptions for the bald Uggz model. The Jets will not let that guy with 30 names run all over them like they did in their previous game against the Cheatriots, and in the last two games the Jets improved Run D has held two great rushing attacks under 100 yards.

The Patriots time as the ruler of the AFC East is fast coming to an end. They are looking old and slow, and the “defensive genius” Bellicheat can’t figure out how to stop anybody in the league. It is time for the Jets to step up and take control of this division. A win Sunday night, and three “easy” games to follow, the Jets could easily find themselves at 9-3 and on cruise control to a division crown and first round bye. Imagine the Jets not in a wild card road game…

Jets Kill the Buffa-blow Bills

Hey Jets Fans,

After what's felt like an eternity, our New York Jets are back in action this weekend with a 1pm game against the Buffa-Blow Bills and the New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay will be rocking it out to the max.

I first want to take a minute to remind everyone to set your clocks back 1 hour before hitting the sack on Saturday night or you'll wind up missing the start of the game... that would suck!

So, here we go again with another must win game for the Jets. Feels like I've been saying that a lot recently!

The Jets need to take it to the Bills hard this Sunday as we trail behind them in the division by one game. The ground and pound needs to be in full force. A few more TD's to Plax (or Santonio) wouldn't bother me much either.

However, a win on Sunday would put us even with the Bills in the division and give us the tie-breaker against them. If the Giants can pull off the win against the Patriots, we would be tied with New England for the division entering next weeks game against the Patriots, at home, on Sunday night. Hell, as long as we beat Buffa-blow, even if the Pats beat the Giants, we still get to take on New England at home playing for the divisional tie. Two back to back high stakes games! That's Jets football isn't it?

Peabody's should be hoppin' on Sunday as 1pm games generally bring out the biggest crowds. So, as always, be sure to arrive early to claim a seat and enjoy the ride that is Jets Football!

Make or Break November: Jets vs. Bills

With two games against Buffalo, one against New England, and a west coast trip sandwhiched in between, Novemeber is make or break for the New York Football Jets.

The Jets look to do something they have yet to do in the Rex Ryan era and come out strong following a bye. Looking to build off a three TD performance, all to Plaxico Burress, Sanchize and the Jets can put them selves in a position to control their own destiny in December.

The first task at hand is the surprising Buffalo Bills squad, who in my opinion is still the Buffalo Bills, in Buffalo. I mentioned the impact of Aaron Maybin before the Chargers game and he did not make me look stupid as he recorded yet another sack and forced fumble. Don't look now but the fomer first round pick playing the best Football of his career gets an opportunity to go against the team that drafted and cut him. Do you think he will be amped up for this one?

On the flip side; former Jets "do it all" man Brad Smith gets his first crack at his former team. Although a huge fan of his as a Jets special team stud, and "wildcat" operator, I do not quiver at the thought of facing him as he poses minimal threat. Don't expect much production from Smith against this Jets D, and top tier special teams. Look for the Bills to run some gimmick plays early to try and get him involved.

Revis and Cromartie will completely shut down a less than par WR core, and leave the rest of the team to again focus on stopping the run. Fred Jackson comes into this game fourth in the NFL in rushing yards. Take him out of the game and this offense has no shot at succeeding. The Jets have defended the run significantly better as of late and I expect that trend to continue.

On the other end of the ball the Jets SHOULD be able to move the rock at ease against a very poor Buffalo Defense. Yes, I am aware that they shut out the Redskins, but that is the Redskins people. John Beck shouldn't even be cleaning fellow players jock straps, let alone leading an NFL team at QB. The offensive line has showed a lot of passion as of late, even turning to the media to respond to threats from fellow and former teammates. Normally I tend to disagree with this kind of nonsense, but the O-Line has played phenomenal the last two weeks compared to the slow start to the season they had. Against the Chargers the Flight Boys posted a season high 161 rushing yards against one of the leagues top run defenses, and Sanchez often found himself with more than 0.3 seconds to make a throw in the pocket.

Ever since Rex proclaimed the Jets were going back to "Ground and Pound" they are 2-1. Look for them to pound the ball down Buffalos throat with the run, and for Nacho to find open WR all day long. The Jets will handle the Bills with ease, and set up a monumental game against New England (we could use an assist from that other New York team this week) in two weeks on Sunday night football.

Jets vs. Bills 1 pm Sunday.

Back on Track: Jets Find Life at MetLife Stadium

In a must win game, the Jets won. Ugly or not, a win is a win. Enough listening to “experts” and their surgical dissection of the Jets and their downright hatred for a team that carries themselves with a certain amount of “arrogance/cockiness” which if it were any other team would be called “swagger.” Sure they talk; sure they haven’t looked like the super bowl team their head coach has pegged them as, but going into week 7 at 3-3 the Jets are one, yes one, game out of holding a wild card spot in the AFC so let’s lay off the week 6 panic button and look at the positives (there are positives).

Did anyone see the work Wayne Hunter did on Cameron Wake last week? He absolutely dominated him the majority of that game, helping put at ease the many concerns regarding the OL. Jamaal Westerman has filled in incredibly well for injured Bryan Thomas. His athleticism brings a much better pass rush threat than Thomas did; something our defense has been missing for years. Since re-signing Aaron Maybin to the roster, three games now, he has two sacks and three forced fumbles, yes Jets fans, that’s more production than Vernon Gholston had in his entire career. Kendrick Ellis is getting better by the down.

In a year where altered rules were supposed to prevent kickoff returns Joe McKnight is averaging 44 yards per return. His elusiveness on returns has gained enough respect and trust with the coaching staff to earn him some offensive snaps (god knows they could use all the help they can get); he caught two passes last week for 25 yards. Speaking of the offense, has anyone even noticed Sanchez has been responsible for 4 TDs and no turnovers the last two games? The defense will keep them in every game they play if he doesn’t turn the ball over, regardless of how many poor third down passes he makes causing fans to cheer for his deportation.

Looking forward…

We can only hope that the SuperChokers will be as ignorant as the Dolphags and attack a sub par run defense by throwing repeatedly at Revis Island, but don’t count on that. Since my existence I don’t think San Diego has won a game of any significant meaning, thanks mostly to, and at no surprise, another Shottenheimer formerly roaming the sideline. I don’t expect much to change on Sunday, as a win for the Chargers would solidify them as a legitimate contender, so look for them to do what they do best and choke.

The offense has to get going early as a lead will detour them from their thus far solid run game (which has elite potential verse the Jets) and put pressure on the frail shoulders of Philip Rivers. Revis will shut down V-Jax (if he plays) and Rivers will make at least one major mistake which must be taken advantage of with a TD, not another damn field goal. My only concern is finding a way to stop Antonio Gates (should he also play). When bored with Gates you have to think Rivers is going to attack Cromartie who will most likely be matched up against Malcolm Floyd (another deep threat), so he needs to step up and not commit any penalties, and/or get help over the top.

I expect LT to execute at least one perfect form finger roll pose in the Endzone, as he did so many times in SD, and Cromartie to miss, in perfect form, at least one tackle as he did so many times in SD as well (I'll never forget him letting Greene trot into the endzone to wrap up a playoff victory in '09, a true Jet at heart from the start).

Control the clock, don’t turn it over, and let your defense and special teams work their magic. In other words do what you have mostly failed to do this year and, “play like a Jet.”

Jets WILL Squish the Fish Tonight!

Hey Jets Fans,

If ever there was a time for a must one, tonight is the night. Things certainly look good for a Jets win as Gang Green is 2 - 0 at home this year and is going up a Dolphins team that has not won a game yet.

However, this is a Jets vs Dolphins game... on Monday night!! CRAZY SH*T happens during Jets vs Dolphins games like these. Even still, I expect the Jets to come out and crush the Dolphins. The Jets have a huge chip on their shoulders and need a big win in a big way to stay in the race for the AFC East.

I know the game is on TV but I urge you all to get out of your house (if only just for the first half) and come join your Jets brethren at Peabody's for some food, fun and football. Peabody's will have some great specials as always and we'll be doing the the Live Broadcast, the 50/50 raffle, the Jets merchandise give-away's, and the inductions into the clubs Hall of Fame.

I think we're gonna have a big win today and Squishing the Fish to do it is always a ball. I'm heading out to P's in a few and I hope to see you there too.

Back in the Spotlight: Jets vs. Dolphins

With two Sunday night games under our belt, the Jets are back in the spotlight for Monday Night Football and the implications of this suddenly "must-win" game are beyond high. Looking to snap a three game losing streak and avoid possibly falling three games behind two division opponents, the Jets return home where they are 2-0 to take on division foe Miami.

At 0-5 with a backup QB, who couldn't beat out Jimmy Claussen in Carolina and was inevitably cut for the arrival of questionable (although not questionable now) first overall pick Cam Newton, this game should turn out similar to the smack down we laid on Jacksonville in week 2.

This has not stopped Miami WR Brandon Marshall from running his mouth (somebody has to step in for OchoNoShow's silence since it appears his days are dead and gone). In a interview this week Marshall stated he has kept his emotions in check this season, but plans on being ejected by the 2nd quarter of Monday nights game, aiming comments directly at Bart Scott and former division rival Antonio Cromartie. These are two players I would shy away from messing with being as Bart Scott is a freak of a specimen, and Cromartie impregnates everything in his path.

I expect Sanchez to build off a much better performance last week against the Cheatriots, where he was 3-4 dropped passes away from having a hell of a game. In his short career Sanchize has always stepped up when his back has been against the wall, and I expect him to play some serious ball these next four weeks.

The departure of non-existent, and apparent locker room cancer, Derrick Mason, has paved way for one of the most exciting young players on our Roster, Jeremy Kerley. Nacho connected with Kerley on a 9-yard Touchdown pass last week, and his youth and speed gives us more deep threat options (if our damn offensive line can hold long enough to let a deep route develop).

The Jets should have 8 in the box all game and completely shut down any Miami rushing attack (although that may not even be enough given our struggles against the run this year), forcing lowly Matt Moore to beat us in the passing game. The only way I see Miami scoring a touchdown with this goon at quarterback is if the sometimes elusive Reggie Bush breaks a screen pass, which the Jets have to be sitting on going into this game.

Monday Night Football; CAN'T WAIT!

I know, I know... last weeks game against the Ravens was a disaster! Let's move on.

The good news for this weeks game against the Patriots is that our defense only gave up 13 of those 34 points in Baltimore. If our D can keep the pressure on Brady and not allow him to get the ball to Welker, we have a great chance of winning this game.

And win we must!

Going 2 - 3 with the Patriots sitting at 4 - 1 is not something the Jets, Rex or I want to be facing. It's going to be up to our offense to get back to the old "Ground and Pound" they've been talking about and begin to chew up big chunks of the clock before they put some points up to keep the ball away from Brady as much as possible. Something along the lines of last years playoff game would be just what the doctor ordered.

Not only would it put us even with the Patriots at 3-2, but it would give us the tie breaker advantage over them, (at least up to this point). It would also be the confidence boost I think Sanchez needs after getting knocked around silly last week.

Since tomorrow's game is at 4:05, you need to be certain to get to Peabody's early to get a prime viewing spot. Patriots games always attract a bigger than average crowd and with so much riding on this game I expect a heck of a turnout.

Also, since we've gone smoke free this season, we're seeing a lot more kids and families coming out to watch the games so be sure to bring a friend or family member with you to experience a Jets game at P's first hand.

New York Jets vs Baltimore Ravens - Sunday October 2nd, 2011 at 8:20pm

Hey Jets Fans,

Quick reminder that tomorrow's Jets game against the Baltimore Ravens is shaping up to be a big early season game. After the tough loss last week against the Raiders and an away game against AFC East division rival Patriots next week, Sunday's Ravens game is a pretty big deal. I know the game is on regular TV but that should not keep you from coming out and joining your Jets family for the game.

I certainly think the Jets have something to prove after last weeks collapse during the second half against the Raiders. There is plenty of added motivation as well after last year's season opening loss to the Ravens not to mention the history of many of the Jets-Ravens players and personnel. I'm sure sexy Rexy and the rest of the coaching staff are going to be fired up for this big game and will be passing on that fire and determination to our boys in green. Jets 24 - Ravens 17

If you're planning on coming out to Peabody's for the game, be sure to get there early as seating will be at a premium. The earlier you get their the easier it will be to nab a seat.

While our resident Super Bowl Champ Earl Christy can not be with us for the game, we will be having all the usual game day festivities including the fan favorite raffle, Jets Chant's, First Down Calls, Jets Fuel and more. If you can't be at the game you must be with us at Peabody's.

Gnomie
12-27-2009 to 9-25-2011

We did have some sad news this week as the entire New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay mourns the loss of Gnomie the Gnome. A fixture of the fan club since 2009, he helped usher in many Jets wins with his magical powers and helped lift the spirits of Jets Fans in Tampa when things looked bleakest. At the time of his passing he was an astounding 19 wins & 7 losses.

R.I.P. Gnomie... we'll miss you.

On a happier front... I am told that Gnomie's successor will be joining us on Sunday and he hopes to bring as much magic and joy to Tampa Jets Fans as his predecessor. I'm sure Gnomie would be very proud!

Just a friendly reminder that Sunday's Jets game against the Raiders is at 4:05pm and that if you want to get a seat you need to think about getting to P's early (and I don't mean 3:30 either).

We've had a really nice crowd the last couple of weeks and have met some great new people and we only expect things to get bigger as we continue to grow. As of tonight we are at 589 registered fan club members on our way to #600.

A Jets victory tomorrow puts us at 3 - 0 and on the road to the bowl. Be sure you are there to be a part of the excitement of the game, the crowd, the chant, the raffle and the camaraderie of your Jets family. As we like to say, "If You're a Jets Fan, You're Family!"

Forget calling them the New York Jets. Forget Gang Green, forget Same-Old-Jets... forget it ALL.

The official nickname for our boys in green really needs to changed. I propose...

THE CARDIAC KIDS!!!

It's a tough thing being a Jets fan sometimes. I get it. But if last season taught us anything it's that you can not count out the Cardiac Kids until the last tic of the clock is off the board

So all you New York Jets fans that were bellyaching in the 3rd Quarter or who left the bar, turned off your TV or, heaven forbid, left the stadium before the game was over, well.... SHAME ON YOU!!! After last season you should know better.

I learned that lesson 11 years ago the hard way on a fateful Monday night back in October of 2000 during a Jets / Dolphins game now affectionately known as the "Monday Night Miracle". That night the Jets were down 30 - 7 at the end of the third quarter and I was a doubter. I left that game before the 4th quarter to beat the traffic home.

Uy.. what a ma-roon.

I wound up missing the second largest fourth-quarter comeback in NFL history and the largest comeback in Jets history. That game has also been voted the greatest game televised on ABC's Monday Night Football. And I missed it because I didn't believe.

Since that day, I never say it's over until it really truly is over.

If you tuned out or turned off, you missed another exciting come-from-behind victory and the soul lifting victory-dance that followed after it was over. You missed the screaming and the yelling and the excitement of the blocked punt returned for a TD all because you didn't believe in our Cardiac Kids.

You missed the Revis interception! You missed the Nick Folk 50 yard game winner (are you serious... Nick Folk actually hit a clutch 50 yard field goal... come on, who was thinking that was going through... holy crap!)

It's enough to give you a coronary!

All the gloom and doom on your faces in the third makes me crazy. You gotta believe people. The Cardiac Kids believe in themselves and in their coach and they never give up. This is football people and strange things sometimes happen. The nice thing is those strange things seem to be happening in the Jets favor these days.

The Cardiac Kids love play with our emotions. The bring us down... down really low, down to the ground before they kick in the after burners and blast us off into the heavens on the highest of highs.

That's Cardiac Kids football folks.

Sure it was ugly at times and sure we have some work to do. But, when it really counted, the Cardiac Kids came through once again with a heart pounding and nearly heart stopping win.

These are not the Same Old Jets, the same old Jets go on to lose that game.

THESE ARE THE CARDIAC KIDS!

Sure you may need to call your doctor to up your dosage of Blood Pressure medication before you head out to watch them play but you also better strap in and enjoy the thrill ride known as New York Jets Football!

Did 9/11 claim a loved one?

Hey Jets Fans,

While Sunday September 11th, 2011 is the beginning of what is shaping up to be another exciting and fun season for our New York Jets, WE MUST NEVER FORGET the tragedy that occurred on that day 10 years ago.

I was working in Manhattan that fateful day and had to evacuate my offices in Rockefeller Center and spend the night in the city at a friends house due to the horrific attacks on the twin towers.

However, I also consider myself very lucky that day! Although several of my friends worked at the World Trade Center, they all got out safe and thankfully, no one close to me or my immediate family perished when the towers collapsed.

The same can not be said for some of you.

This Sunday, the directors of the New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay would like to remember the friends, relatives and other loved ones that lost their lives on 9/11. If you wouldn't mind sharing with us the name of the person who perished that day and their relationship to you, we would like to honor them during the game. Just click here to send us the details.

Our motto since the beginning has always been "If You're a Jets Fan, You're Family!" and on this night of remembrance, we choose to honor those folks in our Jets Family that are no longer with us. A couple of notes based on the questions I've received.

The costs mentioned are for the Ticket and the Tailgate (BYOB as alcohol is not included). The included bus ride is just if you want to ride the bus from Duffy's bar in Miami to the Tailgate. Most of us will NOT be doing that and the cost is not cheaper if you don't take that bus.
There will be an additional and separate cost if you want to take a bus from Tampa to Miami and back and/or if you need a hotel room.
You do not need to take our bus or stay at our accommodations to grab these tickets.

AFC Champion New York Jets. Sounds good, doesn't it?

Hey Jets Fans,

Just two more days to go until the Jets take on the Steelers for the second time this season. Has this felt like the longest week ever or what?

It's business as usual at Peabody's for the games on Sunday. Drink specials, food specials, etc. The raffle is also going to be huge as we try to get to a take home pot of $400.

If anyone would like to donate something that we can give away in the raffle please let me know. It can either be Jets stuff or some other product or service that you have like the limo guys did last week.

Anyway, I've heard from a lot of you over the week and I know you're just as excited and anxious for this game to start as I am. Some are more nervous about this game than when we played New England. Maybe it's because we hate the Patriots more than the Steelers. Maybe it's because we know the Pats better. Maybe it's because it felt more personal after the shlubbing they gave us 6 or so weeks ago. Not me!

Let's remember something here people... we've already beat Pittsburgh this year. We already know that we can do it. If you're looking for motivation for these Jets, look no further than the heartbreaking 2005 Jets / Steelers playoff game where kicker Doug Brien became the first person in NFL postseason history to miss two field-goal attempts in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. That was excruciating. This year will be different!

Need more motivation..., how about making it to the AFC Championship game last year only to lose to the Colts, missing our shot at the Bowl.

Last years team got to the AFC Championship game with a rookie quarterback and a rookie head coach. They got to that game without the help of LT, Santonio Homes, Antonio Cromartie, or Jason Taylor. Guys like LT and Taylor have had great careers without a Super Bowl win and they are hungry... they are going to inspire the younger guys in the locker room and they are going to play like there is no tomorrow... in other words the are going to "PLAY LIKE A JET!"

Well people, as I've said before they are not the same old Jets... they are Different New Jets. They are more experienced. They are more confident. They are more sure of themselves and they seem to thrive being the underdog that no one gives a shot to win.

But you know what... we're on our way to one of the most incredible streaks against some of the best QB's to play the game. We are going to win this game and we are going to the Super Bowl. Remember what Earl says because he's dead on... "IT'S OUR TIME!!!" YES IT IS!!! JETS WIN!!!

Ready for Jets Football Sunday? Here's a few things you should know.

Hey Jets Fans,

I'm sure you all already know that our New York Jets head into Foxboro this Sunday at 4:30pm to play the Pats. Screw the Patriots!

If last Saturday's crowd is any indication, this Sunday's crowd is going to blow it away. Be sure to come early to get your seat as I know we have people coming in from all over Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando, Spring Hill and more. I've spoken to Peabody's management and they do seem to be much better prepared for the Green onslaught this week.

Here's a few things you should know.

New York Jets Super Bowl III Champ Earl Christy will be in the house with us on Sunday to help lead the charge. Earl's always willing to shake a hand, give an autograph or snap a photo with the fans. If you're lucky, he may even let you try on that Jets Super Bowl Ring he wears. Earl is well know to the regulars in the fan club for his "It's Our Time" chant and his word of the week. Earl's word of the week this week is also how our boys in green will be on the field: RELENTLESS! That's Perfect!

As always we will be doing our 50/50 raffle and Jets prize giveaway. However, to make it even more fun this week, after the regular half-time drawings are complete be sure to hold onto your raffle tickets as we'll be giving away Jets stuff during commercials and throughout much of the rest of the game.

Speaking of the prizes, last weeks big winner went home with $300 in his pocket. This week should also bring in quite a large pot. However, we'll be sweetening the deal even more by adding an extra special prize into the raffle...

Fan club member Peter Zacek, owner of All Access Limousine, has offered up a 3 Hour Night Out on the Town in a 10 Passenger Limousine as another great prize for the raffle. The only stipulation... the winner must be wearing Jets Apparel. Sounds like a fair deal to me!

In addition to all the cool stuff happening on Sunday, there's something else you might like. Linda Mitchell, one of our newest members, recent Tampa transplant and long time Jets fan has a bunch of old school Jets memorabilia she's planning on selling. She'd like to offer these items up for sale to the members of the fan club first before putting them up on Ebay or Craigslist. IT'S PAYBACK TIME!!! Jets / Patriots - Round 3

Hey Jets Fans,

The Jets head into Foxboro this Sunday at 4:30pm to play our hated rivals the New England Patriots. (FEH!)

Peabody's will be completely off the hook so get their early or be prepared to stand. We had about 200 fans for the Colts game and I'm guessing we'll be anywhere in the 250 - 300 range on Sunday. I can't wait!!!

Now, let's step back here a second. Every Jets fan remembers the Monday Night Nightmare from just a few short weeks ago. Let's face it... it was UGLY!

But you know what... PAYBACK IS SWEET!

We tasted the sweetness of it against the Colts last week holding Peyton and his Colts to just 16 points and only two possessions in the second half. That's what being motivated by payback can do for a team.

If it was personal last week for Rex, this week it's personal for everyone on the team. This time it's pure revenge!

Here's a quote from the email I sent shortly after the loss to the Patriots:

"... if we'd won that game and then likely faced the Patriots again in the Playoffs, there is almost no way we'd have won. Winning three in a row against Brady and Belichick is nearly impossible. However, when we face them again, and we will face them again, it will be in the playoffs, when it truly counts and we'll have a huge chip on our shoulder and a reason to avenge a night that we'd all sooner forget."

And guess what... I was spot on.

Sunday has a different feel for the team and for the fans because we had our heads handed to us last time. If we had beat the Patriots both times this season, we'd have gone into New England thinking we were the shit and that we had the Pats number.

However, getting beat up on a few weeks ago raises the intensity on this game for every player, it raises the intensity at every practice, on every coach, and the memory of that last game will be the JET FUEL for every PLAY on Sunday that will push our Jets to new heights and on to the AFC Championship Game!

You know why... because ever Jets player in the locker room and every Jets fan in the country does have a chip on their shoulder and does have a reason to avenge a night that they would all sooner forget.

What better way to forget it then to send New England home. This is the season tiebreaker and this is the only one of the three games they'll play all year that REALLY counts.

For the Jets it's time to renew the passion and the fight. It's time prove to themselves and the rest of the league once again that the Jets are indeed Super Bowl contenders.

Screw the Patriots and screw the naysayers!

JETS WIN!!! Count on it people.

The latest mention of the Tampa Jets Fan club appears in the book "100 Things Jets Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die" by author Bill Chastain. Number 48 in Bill's book (p.122) is Join a Jets Fan Club.

About halfway down the page Bill cites the New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay as an example. Very Cool... Thanks Bill!

The book also has lot's of other great stuff including information on famous Jets players, famous games, famous plays, trivia, even the evolution of the Jets uniform. Hey Jets Fans,

I know you all must be as stoked as I am for the Jets Wildcard Weekend game this Saturday at 8pm against the Colts. Screw all the naysayers... we WILL be winning the game and moving on. I was at the 41-0 playoff game that we beat up on Peyton and this time IT'S PAYBACK from last year!

Peabody's will be showing both the early game and the Jets game and we will be getting the same food and drink specials for the evening that we normally would get on Sunday's. I've spoken to management and told them to expect a VERY large crowd and I've been told they are ready for us.

One thing I want to let everyone know about... over the last couple of years we've been saving tables for a select few including fan club "officers", friends and family of club founders and several tables for folks who have been coming to every game for the last several years. All in all about 8 tables in the front area. Those will continue to be saved.

Unfortunately... EVERYONE has been asking me to save them a table and I'm just not going to be able to do it. If you are one of those whose asked me over the last two weeks or so to save you a table, you're just going to have to make every effort to get to Peabody's early to grab your spot and please do not be upset if you are asked to move from a reserved table. I'm REALLY SORRY if that upsets anyone but I just can't police every table.

It's going to be a mad house and I want EVERYONE to get along and have fun. I've always thought of the fan club as my other family which is why our slogan is "If You're a Jets Fan, You're Family". So please, win or lose, treat the other Jets fans you'll run into at Peabody's like family as well. Be respectful, be nice and please... no fighting.

Big Day for our New York Jets and the Fan Club

Hey Jets Fans,

December 19th, 2010 was certainly was a big day in Jets history! Gang Green wins a game in Pittsburgh for the first time ever, LaDainian Tomlinson moves ahead of Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen into 6th place on the all time yards from scrimmage list, Brian Schottenheimer actually called some decent offensive plays and the New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay registered its 500th member.

All-in-all... a good day to be a Jets Fan!

The turnout at Peabody's was a little light yesterday (probably due to the outcome of the last couple of games and because the game was on regular TV here in Tampa) but still, the crowd of about 75 was quite Loud and Proud as our Jets opened the game big thanks to Brad "give that guy the ball some more" Smith.

As for highlights, well besides the Brad Smith opening kickoff run-back, just about everyone in P's (and the country?) was completely fooled by Sanchez's run into the end-zone. The play looked like just another one of Schotty's Shitty calls up the middle when all of a sudden we look up and see the Sanchize scamper into the end zone... HOLY CRAP! Did you see that? WOW!!! Nice call Schotty... you think maybe we can see some more of that the rest of the way?

The defense didn't disappoint either. I've always been a big fan of a defensive safety and with punter Steve Weatherford consistently pinning the Steelers deep, it was a beautiful thing to watch Jason Taylor bust through the line and get 2 for the Jets late in the game. I do wish we could have held the ball a bit longer and kept the Steelers offense off the field but hey... I'll take it!

Of course it wouldn't be a Jets game if your heart was not pounding and your nails were not chewed to the bone and our boys in Green did not disappoint did they? Watching Ben and the Steelers march down the field in the last minute of the game was not on my list of things to do yesterday. But in the end the Jets kept them from scoring and took home a much needed win.

Next week looms large now as the Jets must head to Chicago and take on the Bears for a 1pm game that's sure to make for a packed house at Peabody's. Be sure to be there early as we are winding down the regular season and 1pm games on Sunday are always the most crowded. If you've been thinking about coming out but have not yet made the trip, Sunday's game would be the time to do it.

We're also going to be doing Secret Santa next week so be sure to bring a wrapped Jets-related gift worth between $10 and $20 dollars to Peabody's to participate.

Lastly, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to become a registered member of the New York Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay. I never would have thought when I started this thing six years ago that it would turn into this amazing adventure with over 500 registered members and nearly 2,000 visitors a month to our website. I may have been the one to get the ball rolling but it's thanks to all of you that our fan club is one of the largest and most cohesive Jets fan clubs in the world. Jets must rebound against Miami on Sunday.

Hey Jets Fans,

The Jets play their next game this Sunday at 4:15 against the Miami Dolphins. We'll be at Peabody's as always ready to root for our boys in Green and damn sure ready to forget Monday nights debacle in Foxboro.

Sure... Monday's spanking by the Patriots was an embarrassing nightmare of a game. It might also have been exactly what the Jets needed... a MAJOR wake up call!!!

Nothing at all went right for the Jets on a night that Tom Brady was on top of his game. Sanchez looked like he was throwing directly to the Pats secondary, the o-line stunk it up, our receiver's couldn't pull the ball in when it count, our kicker continues to "Folk-up", our punter (who is usually solid gold) was kicking 13 yarders, and the defense, despite a couple of sacks, couldn't do shit to stop the dink and run that the Patriots pulled off with precision all night. Quite simply it was a thrashing of epic proportion.

You know what... it needed to happen. We needed a kick in the ass. Now it's time to move on.

I've been saying all week that if we'd won that game and then likely faced the Patriots again in the Playoffs, there is almost no way we'd have won. Speaking of forgetting that game, did you hear what Rex did? I loved hearing this one... on Wednesday, after an off day for the team on Tuesday, Rex called the team out by one of the practice fields and led them to a hole in the ground where he literally buried a football from the Patriots game. Basically, he held a funeral for the game and it's memory. Dead and buried... how cool is Rex!!! Love that guy! Some of the players said it was the most memorable motivational tactic they'd ever seen. We'll see soon.

Now, it's time to renew the passion and the fight. Now it's time prove to themselves and the rest of the league once again that the Jets are indeed Super Bowl contenders. The Jets need to take out Miami with the same kind of precision the Patriots did to us. None of these late minute comebacks. None of this letting a team back into it late in the game. We need a complete game! A game where there is no question who the better team is.

Keep in mind that Miami games are typically always tough games. No matter how good or bad each team is in a given year, a Jets / Dolphins game is always interesting. Sunday's game needs to be lopsided. We need to show everyone that Monday's game was a fluke, an abberation, voodoo, something. That was not Jets Football.

Our schedule does not get any easier over the following two weeks either. We've still got to play Pittsburgh and Chicago before finishing up against Buffalo. We've got to finish strong. I actually think the Jets play better when playing as underdogs anyway. They like showing everyone they can win when no one thinks they can.

Sure..., Monday's loss sucked but it's not the end of our season. It's just the beginning of our run for the Super Bowl. Monday's game is the one we'll look back at and say... that was the game that changed our attitude and made us stronger!
