A stream spray usually has a greater range, up to 15 to 20 feet. A stream is not as affected by breezes and winds as a cone mist or fog. A good stream shot directly in the face is likely to stop all but the most determined assailants.

A cone mist unit has a wider spray pattern and finer density than the stream sprays. A typical range is 6 to 8 feet. They are considered by many to be more effective when they hit the assailant and be more likely to have "instant" stopping power than the stream spray. A good cone mist OC spray will stop a determined attacker in about two steps. Cone mists can be uncontrollable in the wind. Spraying directly into a good breeze not only shortens the range considerably, but the spray may affect the sprayer. It is essential for those using cone mists to realize they must spray and then move away very quickly.

Fogger sprays put out a super-fine mist similar to a fire extinguisher and are generally considered to be most effective in terms of stopping power.An assailant caught in an OC fog is virtually helpless instantly. By breathing the OC spray, the mist goes directly to the lungs, making it hard for the assailant to breathe. Most foggers have a range of 15 to 20 feet. They are only slightly affected by breezes outdoors and work well even against a wind. Foggers are also the best defense spray units for home defense because of their range and their ability to create a barrier fog that stays in the air for several minutes.

I was watching the news the other day and I saw that a gym teacher in Ohio gave five young men drugs and alcohol and had sex with them, for her own satisfaction, with no concern for the young men or their families.

Then, when she was caught she tried to plead insanity, saying that she had mental and physical ailments, which combined with her vegan diet and use of alcohol, an antidepressant, impaired her ability to tell right from wrong.

I'm not saying all teachers are bad - there are really good and caring teachers out there. But there are a few that corrupt these kids for their own purpose, and the thing is, you don't know which ones to trust.

It's time for people to start talking to their children when they're young about the trust of teachers and anyone of authority.They have to be more responsible for the protection of their children.

To prevent your children from being a victim, you have to have an active role in their lives. It means paying attention to your instincts, to other people, and to your surroundings. It means training yourself to act defensively to any action that seems out of place.

A 15-year-old girl was shot in the neck at a high school in North Carolina. What's going on in our schools today? The young girl was in stable condition after surgery. Two assailants were arrested for the shooting at the school.

In another case, a man was charged with attempted first-degree murder in the shooting and wounding of two eighth-graders at a middle school. The shooter was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Why are people with mental issues walking around with guns? It should be impossible for these shooters to buy guns. The gun laws in this country really need some reform.

Remember, this was opening day, and he was beaten so badly he was hospitalized with brain damage and more. This same young man was released to rehabilitation in October, and just started speaking and moving his limbs. All of this for the so-called love of the game.

People should feel secure every time they go to the ballpark. No matter what sport is involved, they should feel they have security around them at all times in or outside the park.

Fans at these games take loving their team to another level once they mix rowdy friends and alcohol together. You know that to avoid becoming a victim, you need to take charge of your own safety. These older women and men go through different types of abuse including physical, emotional, financial, sexual, neglect and abandonment.

There are two cases I want to talk about. The first one is when an 81-year-old woman was body-slammed and mugged in a subway station. A woman pushed the elderly woman to the ground and stole her purse, and ran off with several paychecks that were in her pocketbook from the job she still works despite her age.

The other case is when a 75-year-old woman was beaten and put in the trunk of her car. The assailants poured gasoline all over the car but didn't light it. The cruelty in this story is that the woman was renting a room to one of the assailants who robbed her and treated her this way.

The reason I pick these two stories is that most of the elderly people being attacked are older women. I think it's time for people to find a way to start protecting their loved ones and stopping the abuse.

When I woke up this morning I got up and looked around and said thank you universe for another day. Then the day started.
