When you look good, you feel good - confident, radiant, energetic. This might sound obvious, but to me it goes deeper than the boost of self-esteem you get when you walk out of the salon with just the right cut, or the most amazing colour. There’s another step: what you do with those good feelings.We have all seen women using their looks to feed their self-centredness. But I think the lift, the brio you get from looking your best ought to be used to spread good vibes to others. I don't think you can look good, spread bad vibes and be true to my vision. Some people think they look good, but no, their inner light is switched off. You can look beautiful and be negative, but I don’t call that beauty. The outside reflects the inside. Beauty is the inner radiance that often needs help to get out, to be manifest as physical. Some women feel negative because they are not in touch with their beauty. They have seen “hair stylists” (I hate that word) who have tried to make them look like cookie cutter imitations of the flavour of the week.. It doesn’t work, they hate their hair, and they want to hide. They are blocked, and when that happens only negativity can get in. But when you are unblocked, your energy is released, and energy is what we’re made of. So you shine, the world opens up, you see colours, and hopefully you want to give to others. I help people to discover their own beauty; their own statement and I educate them to care for their particular hair. I feel blessed because my energy flows into my clients. I don’t want to make myself out to be a Svengali, but I do see remarkable changes in my clients. Because I’m so involved with a woman’s emotional system, there’s an interplay, we make each other’s blood flow. I polish her aura - and erase the darkness outside it. I love the light outside, the sun, and the light in people. I hate the darkness.I grew up in darkness. I come from a war situation. Because I have suffered in my past, I am incredibly grateful that today I can bring happiness to my clients, that I can make a difference, that I can spread good vibes. Women joke about being “Jieafied”, but there’s something to it. I don’t understand the process, exactly, but I know it has something to do with the transfer of energy - I believe in Reiki. I have had people call me and say, “Wow, you changed my life”. TRANSFORMATION

What is this process of transformation? Let me just say that when someone comes to my chair, I get inside their soul. I see not only their bone structure but also their aura - their needs, personality, their aesthetic, where they are in life. I am helped by the client profile people fill out. It lists their activities, interests, products, and health conditions. My access to clients, more than anything, accounts for my success. Yes I have developed my technique to the highest level, but that is not enough. Even my inspiration - from art, fashion, and architecture - is not enough. I need to know what the client is all about. It’s like clothes; if you don’t do the right tailoring, it won’t fit the person. For both fashion and hair, at the end of the process is a statement.It starts with making the client feel safe. People want security - and hair is the drape of security. It’s also the focus of so many insecurities and complexes. When the client walks into the salon, she is greeted with enthusiasm and kindness. I have created a Mediterranean ambiance of style and warmth. The salon, an airy, high-design two-story space, allows for traffic, not chaos. I thought it was important to have two dressing rooms and two washrooms. The journey that ends with good feelings must start with comfort.. You are not a number at Salon Jie; you are a star, my star. It’s a nurturing experience. You are acknowledged. And you don’t have to be rich; you can work in a store. We sometimes give discounts. This is a conscious place - conscious of beauty but also of the individual’s real life situation. My staff is trained not only in hair but also in dealing with people. We have weekly lecture/discussions to improve ourselves on every level. Most of the people who walk in, no matter how stressed they are from the big city, quickly “get” the experience - they are so in sync with the place that I often feel they have been sent to us. They become positive. There are only a few exceptions - people I have stopped seeing because they hurt my heart and my energy. They ’re just too negative to carry my statement. You see, the hair I give is full of positive vibes. And you know what this translates into? The greatest life force of all: sexuality. When you feel sexy, good things come to you. With a touch of glamour, you’re switched on. And yet there is a fear of being sexy. Don’t be afraid of this. Look your best, be confident. And spread good vibes.
