Camping Trip + New Camera = Awesome

I just picked up my Sony NEX-5 last week, after a few months without a camera after my Canon broke. I really got to break it in a bit over the weekend, as I went camping at Crawford Notch Campground in New Hampshire.

It was an absolutely great weekend. The weather was perfect, and it was a lot of fun to just be able to sit around and cook and eat and drink and talk. And take pictures. I am totally an amateur with photography, but this camera makes it pretty easy to take a damn good picture. From close-ups with the wildlife:

To stargazing. We got to camp on Friday night, at the tail end of the Perseids. I saw about 2 dozen shooting stars, but wasn’t able to get them on film. I was, however, able to get some great shots of the Milky Way:

All in all, it was an excellent trip, one of those weekends that always makes Summer seem much too short.
