The Karma Fund To Benefit Hero Dog Who Saved Owner Dan Fitzgerald

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Tue, 09 Aug 2011 00:22:00 +0000

A good friend of mine was recently shot at a wedding reception when a man wearing a hoodie opened fire into the crowd. Dan Fitzgerald's (my friend) dog was shot twice while attacking the shooter and had one of his legs amputated as a result. If anyone can or is interested in helping pay the outstanding vet bill please call the VCA Specialty Animal Hospital (203) 854-9960 and mention "The Karma Fund" to leave a donation.

It's not often pit-bulls are in the same sentence as hero as this pit bull truly is one of a kind.

Sony Playstation Network PSN Update For PS3 v3.61

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Sat, 14 May 2011 23:30:00 +0000

As Sony is near ready to restore the Playstation Network ( PSN ), there are some things you must know and do before hand. There will be a required PS3 software update (v3.61) that will require you to change your password.

You will only be able to change the password on a PS3 that you own or a PS3 that you have activated your PSN account on as an added layer of security. If you haven't downloaded any content on your system you will receive an email to your registered sign-in Id email address.

In the email you receive, there will be a link that you need to click to get further instructions to change your password. After you complete this, you will be able to sign in using your new password.

Sony is strongly recommending that you complete this software upgrade before the Playstation Network is completely restored. The v3.61 update is a critical step toward making the Playstation Network more secure.

If you are unsure how to manually update your PS3, turn it on first obviously. You will see a message in the top right corner informing you that an update is required. Next, Go to SETTINGS and go up to System Update. Select update via internet and you will see a message saying "The latest update data was found Version v3.61. Select ok. Next it will show the new user agreement (read it) then scroll to the right and select OK. Then it will show the option of turning off the system after update and the START button. I wanted to keep mine on so I just clicked START. When the download is completed, the system will automatically start to install it.

Once you have completed this the system will restart and bring you back to the home page. Go to the PSN sign-in screen and take note of the email address you use in case you have multiple email addresses and aren't sure which one you used. Keep an eye on your email and wait for Sony to send you the rest of the instructions to restore your account.

If you know anyone with a PS3, make sure you share this with them now so they can be prepared for the restoration of the Playstation Network!

Sony Playstation Network PSN Update As Of May 10, 2011

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Tue, 10 May 2011 17:23:00 +0000

I know you're all T.O.'ed about the downtime on Sony's Playstation Network ( PSN ) Outage/downtime due to the severe network intrusion. According to Patrick Seybold and the Playstation Network Blog, there is still no definite answer to when the service will be made available again other than "It will likely be a few more days".

I know the majority of you are ticked and so am I.. However, if it takes a bit longer to test the integrity of the newly restructured system, so be it. I am also among the 77 million some odd users who's information was stolen and I would like the peace of mind knowing that my information will remain safe.

A recent post on the Playstation Network Blog indirectly indicated that Sony was having their new network voluntarily attacked in order to test the new upgrades and firewalls from what I can make of it. It seems that there may have been holes in the new infrastructure that needed to be addressed... again, this is just an observation resultant of me following this issue extremely closely and picking apart every word they used.

Hopefully, this will be resolved in "the next few days" for real this time because we have all heard this since the beginning.

Sony's Playstation Network And How They Are Handling It

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Wed, 04 May 2011 19:39:00 +0000

As you would imagine, with a large scale criminal cyber-attack, their would most certainly be a large scale investigation. Well, Sony has been and continues to conduct that investigation today into the details and events that forced Sony to take the Playstation Network ( PSN ) and Qriocity services offline.

Sony Computer Entertainment America's Chairman of the board, Kazuo Hirai has submitted his written answers to the questions by Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce about the network intrusion and theft of user data and possible credit card data.

While there is definite evidence that personal data has been stolen from the servers, Sony is uncertain about the credit card numbers being stolen. The network service team and forensic teams have confirmed that queries were made to the servers for user data but that the hackers were also playing "clean-up" as they went along in order to cover their steps on how they executed this very well planned and highly sophisticated unauthorized intrusion. No major credit card companies have reported any increase in fraudulent activities to this date as a direct result of the cyber attack... but that still is not enough to rule out the possibility that the hackers have obtained them.

More info on the Playstation Blog

The 8 page written letter from Kuzuo Hirai

So how does Sony Computer Entertainment of America plan to compensate it consumers for being patient while they investigate the matter and restructure the network and add extra security precautions? When services come back online, Sony is offering a "Welcome Back" program that will include 30 days of free Playstation Plus subscription, 30 days of free service for Music Unlimited service as well as extending these free subscriptions in the amount of total days the service has been offline. They also intend to offer complimentary identity theft services to U.S account holders.

Sony's employees are still working diligently around the clock to get the network back online with an increase in firewalls, enhanced levels of data protection and encryption and even a new undisclosed loction to house their new servers.

As you know, more information will be provided as it is received. Make sure you bookmark us to keep up to date with the Sony Playstation Network intrusion status!

Sony Playstation Network Outage Status As Of Tuesday April 26th 2011

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Wed, 27 Apr 2011 02:18:00 +0000

Ok, in answer to my own question at the end of my last post, it has been revealed that the hackers HAVE obtained our personal information according to the Playstation Blog. From usernames to password to addresses, email, and profile data have been stolen. While they (Sony) are still unsure if credit card information may have been acquired as well.

If you have used your credit card for online PSN purchases, you should monitor your credit score and account balances for unauthorized activity. Sony WILL NOT be calling, mailing or emailing you in regards to this whole situation. In the event you do receive any messages, they are not from Sony they are from someone trying to obtain your personal information. DO NOT REPLY to any of these attempts. Sony has even hired a well-known Security firm to conduct the investigation into what happened.

Sony is pretty much rebuilding the Playstation Network from scratch to enhance security and network infrastructure in order to protect personal information. They are working around the clock in hopes to have the network back up and running in the next week.

WHEN the Playstation Network and Qriocity come back online, you are urged to sign in and

change your password right away.

PSN Update Playstation Network and Qriocity Still Offline

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Mon, 25 Apr 2011 16:17:00 +0000

Update April 25th 2011

As of early this morning, Patrick Seybold of Sony has stated that Playstation Network and Qriocity are still not back online. He is unable to give a timeframe as to when the services will be available again. What happened to 2 days?

Patrick indicates that it is a time intensive process and that they are working to get PSN and Qriocity back online quickly. He thanks everyone for their patience even though out of the thousands of gamers I have seen on the Playstation Blog and other places, are all but patient. Maybe 2% are... the ones who have no problem finishing up a campaign in single player while they wait.

The part that bothers me most is we all don't know if any of our personal information has been compromised. Patrick, if you see this, make sure you address this in your next update because I have seen a lot of people with this same concern.

Keeping you informed,
JJ3K

Sony Playstation PSN Network And Qriocity Undergoing Maintenance

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Fri, 22 Apr 2011 22:45:00 +0000

So Sony has pulled down the Error(80710A06) message you would get while trying to log into the Playstation Network. What you see now is a message that reads:

Playstation Network is currently undergoing maintenance.

Now I don't know what you're thinking but... MAINTENANCE? Was It scheduled maintenance? I thought that was something to prevent failures and KEEP things running smoothly. Thats what I consider an oil change in my car.

~~Maybe Sony should be a bit more honest with everyone and stop taking the easy way out.~~ (see update)

With so many new releases and the integration of Steam this has got to be the worst time to have the servers down.

When this is all over I wonder how it will impact the publics' trust in the Playstation Network? Will it have an impact on upcoming new release sales? Who knows... I guess we will soon find out who PSN's real fans are.

UPDATE

Playstation blog has officially released a statement stating that the problem stems from an external intrusion.

This is Sony's Official statement found on Playstation Blog:

"An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share."

Update- Playstation Network Hacked

noreply@blogger.com (J.Cintron) — Thu, 21 Apr 2011 17:47:00 +0000

According to Patrick Seybold, Playstation's SR. Director, PSN will be unavailable for another day or two while they continue to resolve the matter.

I have seen my share of network downtime, but most is related to server upgrading and maintenance. This is ridiculous and I know millions of you sure as hell agree.

What I wanna know most is if our privacy is still protected. I would like some sort of confirmation from Sony that OUR user information has not been compromised along with this whole event.
