It was a first for many of the students who attended and everyone seemed to have really enjoy their first coding experience. Once we have the formal programme fully developed and tested we aim to showcase our findings and experience as good practice to UAL and the sector and look for this training to be better supported and embeded. We would also like to start developing online learning resources (short animations and videos) for all the programme activities and create a online course.<br><br>The DIAL project found many staff and students were lacking vital basic web building knowledge and skills, students and staff have told us they would appreciative some advice and support in this area. There was a general feeling that having a basic understanding of web environments, processes and developments should be viewed as a important requirement of any professional, training professional and practitioner.     <summary type="html"><![CDATA[<p>DIAL&rsquo;s advocacy for sustained cultural change has been an invaluable inspiration in evaluating and refining our priorities and approach. DIAL&rsquo;s participative, forward-looking and integrated perspective has highlighted the important areas of staff/ student collaboration, harnessing the power of mutually supportive practice communities and the merits of embedding relevant technology in purpose/subject-specific contexts. How to be a virtuous rather than a vicious circle and an open rather than a closed one.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>OER13 is inviting abstracts for papers/posters&nbsp;within its&nbsp;three key themes of:&nbsp; Evidence - Experience - Expectation</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>We anticipate presentations which will share&nbsp;lessons learned to inform the feedback loop, stories of current activity to share good practice, and creative solutions to achieve greater emphasis on openness in education.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Booking will open shortly with the price of this two day conference including one night accommodation on campus at &pound;205 (including celebration reception and gala dinner). We had a very productive and long conversation about the digital at UAL. John then introduced me to Justin Banbury&lrm; and Steve Howells&lrm; who are key IT contacts and potential DIAL collaborators to work with in the areas of digital capacity and demand, they are also involved in a UAL wide digital capacity project called &lsquo;digital life&rsquo;. Briefly describe your approach to evaluating your DL project. * What&rsquo;s needed here is not a lot of detail or tables, just an outline of your overall methdology/design and/or the stage you feel you are at?</p> <p>The early aims of the DIAL project was to run small and defined mini projects within a wider DIAL project/programme. Therefore our approach was to evaluate each pilot project group individually at the beginning of their projects. This early localised evaluation helped to define the mini projects aims and objectives and improve the overall focus of the DIAL project. Five pilot DIAL projects were identified at the beginning of the project.
