Declared exchanged at Aiken’s Landing on November 10, 1862. Rejoined the company prior to March 1, 1863, and present or accounted for until wounded in the hand at Chancellorsville, Virginia May 1-3, 1863. Rejoined the company prior to September 1, 1863, and present or accounted for until captured at Winchester, Virginia, September 19, 1864. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until transferred to Aiken’s Landing on March 15, 1865, for exchange.</li>

Born in Johnston County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting at age 18, February 24, 1863, for the war. Reported missing at South Mountain, Maryland, September 14, 1862, but rejoined the company prior to May 1, 1863. Present or accounted for until paroled at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865.</li>

<li><strong>Levi A. Honeycutt</strong>, <em>Private</em><br />
Resided in Johnston County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Wake County at age 22, July 15, 1862, for the war. Reported absent sick on December 8, 1862, and died in hospital at Danville, Virginia, January 19, 1863. Cause of death not reported.</li>
</ul>

<li><strong>Nathaniel B. Honeycutt</strong>, <em>Private</em><br />
Resided in Johnston County and enlisted in Wake County at age 20, July 15, 1862, for the war. Captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 1, 1863, and confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware, until transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, October 15-18, 1863. Confined at Point Lookout until released after joining the U.S. Army on January 23, 1864. Assigned to Company A, 1st Regiment U.S. Volunteer Infantry.  On July 27, 1864 the 1st U.S. marched to Elizabeth City, N.C. and then returned to Norfolk, Virginia. On August 9, 1864, the regiment was ordered to the Northwest Frontier. They went by sea to New York and then left New York by train. Companies A, F, G, and I were sent to Milwaukee and then to the Minnesota District. For a year Company A served at Ft. Ambercrombie, F at Ft. Wadsworth, G at Ft. Ripley and I at Ft. Ridgley. In July 1865, they were ordered to begin assembling at Ft. Snelling for mustering out. The other companies had gone on to St. Louis, took a boat up the Missouri River to Ft. Rice, Dakota Territory, companies B and K being assigned to Forts Union and Berthold. On May 6, 1865, they were ordered to Ft. Rice. On October 6, 1865, the 1st Regiment was authorized to leave Ft. Rice. Companies A, F, G, and K arrived at Ft. Leavenworth to be mustered out and were reassigned to western Kansas to guard a new stage line to Denver. That winter they suffered from blizzards, starvation, and Indian attacks.  In November 1865, the other six companies marched to Ft. Leavenworth and were mustered out November 27, 1865. On May 22 1866, Companies A, F, G, and K were mustered out at Ft. Leavenworth.</li>

<li><strong>Sir William Honeycutt</strong>, <em>Private</em><br />
Resided in Johnston County and enlisted in Wake County at age 25, July 15, 1862, for the war. Captured at South Mountain, Maryland, September 14, 1862. Confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware, until transferred to Aiken’s Landing, James River, Virginia, October 2, 1862, for exchange. Declared exchanged at Aiken’s Landing on November 10, 1862. Rejoined the company prior to March 1, 1863, and present or accounted for until captured at Gettysburg. Pennsylvania, July 1, 1863. Confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware, until transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, October 15-18, 1863. Confined at Point Lookout until transferred to Boulware’s Warf, James River, Virginia, where he was received February 20-21, 1865, for exchange.</li>

<li><strong>James F. Honeycutt</strong>, <em>Private</em><br />
Resided in Iredell County where he enlisted age 18, May 5, 1861. Deserted on or about May 1, 1863, but rejoined the company prior to October 14-15, 1863, when he deserted at Warrenton, Virginia. Company muster roll dated October 31- December 31, 1863, states that he was “in arrest at division headquarters since 5 December 1863.” Court-martialed for desertion prior to May 13, 1864, when he was reported in confinement at Castle Thunder Prison, Richmond, Virginia. Pardoned by President Jefferson Davis on or about August 3, 1864, after volunteering for service in the Winder Legion for the defense of Richmond against the Sheridan Raid. Captured by U.S. forces at Summit Point, Virginia, August 10, 1864, and confined at Old Capitol Prison, Washington, D.C., August 17, 1864. Transferred to Elmira, New York, October 24, 1864, and released at Elmira on May 17, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance.</li>

Enlisted in Orange County on February 26, 1862, for the war. Died at Richmond, Virginia September 12, 1862. Cause of death not reported.</li>
