Sunday's Best: If I Stay..

Yesterday I watched the film If I Stay with Chloe Grace Moretz and Jamie Blackley (heart emoji insert here!!). I didn't even know that it was based on the book till after watching it. So my next thing is to get the book. For me, I love to watch a film first thats based on a book so that I can visualize the character's faces in the film. I'm very visual so it helps to be more connected to the story.

Anyways, back to my post! Today's Sunday's Best is kind of fueled by the love of the story in If I Stay. (Spoiler Alert!) I love how much music and love is connected and then the connection between Mia and Adam.
It reminds me of my days of being 14 years old and madly in love with this guy who was 4 years older and who played the guitar, piano, drums, you name it he can probably play it. I was that girl crushing on that guy who just made you froze when he passed by or when you can't sleep because you can image his eyes when he plays the guitar or the little cute faces he makes.

FashionMondays: If I could go back in time.

I've been studying about the Edwardian era and it's fashion in my latest assignments for school. I just fell in love with everything. If I could go back in time, this is the era I'd love to experience all because of the beautiful clothing.

I love the details of the pleats, the body form of the dresses, and how gorgeous the details and fabric used in those days. Even the little detailed accessories like the umbrella, gloves, and hair pieces are just down right STUNNING!

In the Edwardian era the Gibson Girl was created. The Gibson Girl was known for her curvaceous shape, voluminous hair and was an independence woman. If you haven't heard of the Gibson Girl, well then you're just missing out on everything. Till this day, I see women try to apply this look into their everyday wear or how they want their bodies to have the S-curve (invented by using a type of corset that angled your body in a forward lean).

The photo below is Camille Clifford in 1906. She won a contest that was seeking for that exact girl, The Gibson Girl.

Something this elegant makes my heart melt.

A movie that I'm sure everyone and their moms watch that portrays this era is Titanic.

From their Merry Widows hats...

...to their elaborate jewel dresses.
Pastel colors were normally worn during the Edwardian era but Titanic went for a more dark tone and exotic theme in color and style.

If I could, I'd love to incorporate the Edwardian era into my future wedding dress.

I wanted to dedicate today's Fashion Monday to my Minnie. I am definitely one lucky mama to have such a goofy, talented, loving, happy little girl. God sure loves me!

I wanted to share our Halloween costumes since she's at the age where I have to slowly step back and allow her to be who she wants to be. If I could, I'd find every character duo there is so that we can be costume buddies. But she's already telling me, "No ma, I want to be by myself" ... Tear!

WishList Wednesday: LUSH Heaven

Hello beautiful,

Not quite on my wishlist because I just bought them a couple days ago but I did have it on my wishlist for quite some time. I was so happy to find out there was a shop near me, so I'll be enjoying more bubble baths now!

I love love love love LUSH products. The fact that it's from organic fruits, vegetables, essential oils and safe synthetics makes me feel secure in what I buy. The biggest thing about their products is that they don't test on animals. It's a safe zone for our little friends.

I quote, "We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again." -Lush.com

who doesn't love long candlelit baths or sharing showers ;) ;) and bonus is smells sooooooooo GOOOOOD! Let's all enjoy those winding down moments in the bath.

Also, for those who may have a hard time going to bed, restless nights I highly suggest having a bath for your wind down moments and then reading a book right before you sleep. Getting off the electronics a couple hours before bed really does help, TRUST me.
And Lush can definitely boost your sleep with a relaxing bath.

Sunday's Best: Pulling a Carrie Bradshaw

Since I've recently watched Sex and the City movie 1&2 I couldn't get a few outfits out of my mind and had to recreate it from my wardrobe.

I cut a maxi dress that I didn't care so much about and knew it was cheap enough to cut away. I put the dress on and marked where my belly button was with a sharpie on the dress (tiny mark). Then I took the dress off and laid the dress down, flat and wrinkle free so I can measure how big I wanted the opening to be. I started off with a more narrow triangle because it's always safer to cut little by little unless you are confident in your measurements and cutting.

Once I made sure each side had about the same amount of material on both ends, I started to cut. I gave and took a few inches here and there and the lines weren't exactly straight. But like I said in the beginning, it was cheap enough to make mistakes and if it didn't work out, Oh well I'll try again with another dress.

I was pretty stoked with the results! I added a normal white button up over the dress and tucked in the front part of the white tee into my jeans. I added a statement belt and necklace as well to add more color and sophistication.

Can't forget the BCBG Max Azria snake strap heels! The perfect touch to the whole outfit.

Casual Friday: Feeling the color blue

For today's Casual Friday, I threw on this oversize sweater, over the knee socks and sandal heels and shopped at LUSH. I'll share more about that in another blog post soon.

I love that the days are getting much cooler because I love to layer and wear oversize sweaters, it's just the perfect combination.

I must share my all time fashion inspirational movie/tvshow, Sex and the City. Instead of the story line, it's the fashion line that catches my eye every single time. What Carrie wore when she first met Mr. Big, what Samantha wore when she walked down the red carpet and Miley Cyrus wore the same thing, what Charlotte wore for Carrie's wedding, or what Miranda wore when she was out in the desert riding a camel (I'm referring mostly to the movies 1 and 2 because I just finished watching it).

Sex and the City, like to most women, is their own story. I know for myself I can relate in so many ways and I can definitely find inspirational looks for everyday life.
I love to push outside the box when it comes to fashion. I hate going by what someone says I should wear...damn it, I'm sticking to what I know and what makes me, ME. Sex and the City helps with that inspiration and determination to stay just the way I am.

P.s I can't get over what goes on in Patricia Fields mind, one word...BRILLANT!

Today's Sunday's Best is dedicated to PAST lovers. A quote that rings in my ears everyday is "The Past will never have anything NEW to say". From my experiences, I've learned that the past will most likely repeat all the same things, if you allow it to. I also know that in faith things can change. But what I learned over all is that the past is there to brighten your future. The past allows you to learn and grow then make better decisions for the future that you want, need, and deserve.
The reason for this quote and this dedication is because sometimes we allow the past to ruin our future. We get caught up in old flames, repeat decisions and land in the same spot we've been trying to get out off. I love this faux fur jacket with a slight hood because it gives off a pretty vibe. If I decided to wear a dress and wanted to keep the pretty vibe I'd definitely add this piece. FashionMondays to Bill Cunningham

I've collected some of my favorite quotes from the one and only Bill Cunningham. The only photographer that knows street fashion and embraces it with realness, curiosity, and covers every street there is. He's not one to be in your face about it, he rather stand on the side observing every piece of clothing and then captures what speaks to him. If I can have just 50% of what he sees in fashion, I'd be content about life overall. He's my fashion idol. He taught me more about fashion then any designer there is because capturing fashion isn't work, it's fun.

I hope someday to be photographed by him, know him and pick his brain for someone who's met fashion daily, face to face.

Casual Friday

BUT..for me, it's a day to relax, be in the most comfortable clothes I have, aside from just wearing my robe (if I could, I would all day everyday) and catch up on blogging and the fashion world.
