<h2 data-section-id="65i82f" data-start="205" data-end="254">Create Your Own Line of Custom Hair Treatments</h2>
<p data-start="256" data-end="371">Creating high-performance hair treatments is one of the most powerful ways to build a results-driven haircare line.</p>
<p data-start="373" data-end="699">At Joan Morais Cosmetics School, our <strong data-start="410" data-end="533">hair treatment formulations are professionally developed and included in the course for you to use, customize, and sell</strong>. These are not just recipes—they are <strong data-start="571" data-end="603">complete formulation systems</strong> designed to be adapted to your unique brand vision, ingredient philosophy, and target customer.</p>
<p data-start="701" data-end="889">Whether you are formulating for hydration, scalp care, strengthening, or repair, these treatments can be <strong data-start="806" data-end="843">layered, customized, and combined</strong> to create a complete, cohesive haircare line.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="ubhr42" data-start="896" data-end="954">Why Hair Treatments Are Essential in a Haircare Line</h2>
<p data-start="956" data-end="1054">Hair treatments go beyond basic cleansing and conditioning. They are where transformation happens.</p>
<p data-start="1056" data-end="1074">They allow you to:</p>
<ul data-start="1075" data-end="1268">
<li data-section-id="guqgrq" data-start="1075" data-end="1120">Target <strong data-start="1084" data-end="1120">specific hair and scalp concerns</strong></li>

<li data-section-id="1c6zwbp" data-start="1215" data-end="1268">Differentiate your brand with specialized solutions</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1270" data-end="1380">From masks to oils to rinses, each treatment plays a strategic role in restoring and maintaining healthy hair.</p>

<h2 data-section-id="sien9x" data-start="0" data-end="70">Joan Morais Cosmetics School Reviews: Why We Believe in Transparency</h2>
<p data-start="72" data-end="422">At <span class="" data-state="closed"><a class="decorated-link cursor-pointer" href="https://joanmorais.com/product-category/classes/certification-courses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joan Morais Cosmetics School</a></span> and <span class="" data-state="closed"><a class="decorated-link cursor-pointer" href="https://joanmorais.com/product-category/lab-classes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Formulators LAB</a></span>, transparency and authenticity matter deeply to us. Over the years, we have worked hard to build a trusted educational space for students learning professional natural cosmetic formulation, and one of the ways we support that trust is through open and honest reviews.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="tfmcz2" data-start="424" data-end="463">Our Reviews Are Automatically Posted</h2>
<p data-start="465" data-end="664">All reviews submitted through our website are automatically posted through our system. We do not selectively approve only positive reviews or remove reviews simply because they may contain criticism.</p>
<p data-start="666" data-end="959">Our review system also identifies whether a reviewer is a <strong data-start="724" data-end="742">Verified Owner</strong>. This means the reviewer has an account with us and has enrolled in or purchased a class or course through our school. We believe this adds an important level of credibility and transparency for prospective students.</p>
<p data-start="961" data-end="1166">Just like on large online retail platforms such as <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Amazon</span></span>, verified purchase systems help provide context about whether the reviewer has actually used the product or service.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1qry1lo" data-start="1168" data-end="1217">Why We Do Not Use Independent Review Platforms</h2>
<p data-start="1219" data-end="1430">Over the years, we explored several independent review platforms and services, including attempts to use platforms such as <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Trustpilot</span></span> and <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Google</span></span> reviews.</p>
<p data-start="1432" data-end="1544">After careful consideration, we decided not to rely on third-party review systems for several important reasons.</p>
<h3 data-section-id="1ipmeq1" data-start="1546" data-end="1598">1. Reviews Can Disappear if the Platform Changes</h3>
<p data-start="1600" data-end="1756">When reviews are hosted entirely on a third-party platform, your business becomes dependent on that company continuing to operate and maintain your account.</p>
<p data-start="1758" data-end="1951">If the review company changes policies, suspends accounts, becomes too expensive, or no longer exists in the future, years of valuable student reviews and experiences could disappear overnight.</p>
<p data-start="1758" data-end="1951">Over the years, we have upgraded to different online platforms and lost valuable student reviews in the process. Because we understand the challenge of losing reviews and having to start over from scratch, we prefer not to depend on another external review company.</p>
<p data-start="1758" data-end="1951">We wanted our student reviews to remain part of our school and community long-term.</p>
<h3 data-section-id="1c6bu95" data-start="2038" data-end="2072">2. Additional Ongoing Expenses</h3>
<p data-start="2074" data-end="2227">Many third-party review platforms require ongoing subscription fees or paid plans to access features, manage reviews, or display review content properly.</p>
<p data-start="2229" data-end="2502">As a small independent educational business, we prefer to invest our resources into improving our courses, creating new educational content, updating formulations, filming lessons, and supporting students rather than paying large recurring fees for external review hosting.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="at10y8" data-start="2504" data-end="2553">3. Anyone Can Leave a Review on Many Platforms</h2>
<p data-start="2555" data-end="2730">One major concern we encountered with some independent review systems is that individuals can sometimes leave reviews even if they have never actually taken a course or class.</p>
<p data-start="2732" data-end="2848">This can create situations where reviews may be inaccurate, misleading, or unrelated to the real student experience.</p>
<p data-start="2850" data-end="2992">Our internal review system helps provide more context by identifying verified students who have actually enrolled in our educational programs.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="105tdp2" data-start="2994" data-end="3032">Why We Could Not Use Google Reviews</h2>
<p data-start="3034" data-end="3203">We also explored using <span class="" data-state="closed">Google Business Profiles</span> reviews. However, Google’s policies generally focus on businesses that have in-person customer interactions.</p>
<p data-start="3205" data-end="3361">Because Joan Morais Cosmetics School operates as an online-only educational business, we found that Google reviews did not work for our structure.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="uheecq" data-start="3363" data-end="3411">Our Philosophy: Open, Honest, and Transparent</h2>
<p data-start="3413" data-end="3591">We believe that authentic reviews from real students are important. We also believe prospective students deserve the opportunity to read a wide range of experiences and opinions.</p>
<p data-start="3593" data-end="3635">That is why our review approach is simple:</p>
<ul data-start="3637" data-end="3808">
<li data-section-id="19nz6vf" data-start="3637" data-end="3671">Reviews are automatically posted</li>
<li data-section-id="t8cz1b" data-start="3672" data-end="3704">Verified Owners are identified</li>
<li data-section-id="1sd5a0c" data-start="3705" data-end="3759"><strong>We do not selectively publish only positive feedback</strong></li>
<li data-section-id="6n6wri" data-start="3760" data-end="3808">We believe transparency builds long-term trust</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="3810" data-end="3987">For over 20 years, our goal has been to provide professional, science-based, natural cosmetic formulation education while maintaining honesty and integrity within our community.</p>
<p data-start="3989" data-end="4131">We are grateful to the thousands of students who have trusted us with their education and who continue to share their experiences with others.</p>
<p data-start="4133" data-end="4310" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">If you would like to explore our programs, visit <span class="" data-state="closed"><a class="decorated-link cursor-pointer" href="https://joanmorais.com/product-category/classes/certification-courses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joan Morais Cosmetics School Courses</a></span> to learn more about our professional natural skin care and hair care formulation training.</p>

<h2>Essential Oil Safety in Cosmetic Formulation</h2>
<p data-start="49" data-end="306">Essential oils are powerful aromatic plant extracts that can add beautiful scent, sensory experience, and functional properties to cosmetic products. However, because they are highly concentrated, they must be used carefully and respectfully in formulation.</p>
<p data-start="308" data-end="551">A single drop of essential oil contains a concentrated amount of volatile aromatic compounds. Improper use can contribute to irritation, sensitization, phototoxicity, or adverse reactions, especially when used undiluted or at excessive levels.</p>
<p data-start="553" data-end="696">Whether you are creating products for yourself, family, or customers, understanding safe usage is an important part of responsible formulation.</p>
<h2 data-start="553" data-end="696">An Aromatherapist and Formulator’s Perspective on Essential Oil Safety</h2>
<p data-start="553" data-end="696">Joan Morais has been a practicing aromatherapist for over 18 years and has worked extensively with essential oils throughout her cosmetic formulation career and personal life. Through decades of hands-on experience formulating skin, body, and hair care products, she understands both the benefits and the powerful effects of essential oils on the skin and body. Joan has also personally experienced sensitization from products containing excessive levels of essential oils, reinforcing the importance of conservative, thoughtful usage and proper dilution practices in formulation.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="12dzrdj" data-start="703" data-end="744">Essential Oils Are Highly Concentrated</h2>
<p data-start="746" data-end="890">Essential oils are not the same as infused oils or herbal extracts. They are concentrated volatile compounds distilled or expressed from plants.</p>
<p data-start="892" data-end="904">For example:</p>
<ul data-start="906" data-end="1129">
<li data-section-id="168q0dm" data-start="906" data-end="1004">It can take <strong data-start="920" data-end="960">hundreds of pounds of plant material</strong> to produce a small amount of essential oil.</li>
<li data-section-id="1hdv1pq" data-start="1005" data-end="1053">Citrus oils are often cold pressed from peels.</li>
<li data-section-id="5rsko1" data-start="1054" data-end="1129">Some floral oils require enormous quantities of flowers for a tiny yield.</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1131" data-end="1230">Because of this concentration, essential oils should almost never be applied undiluted to the skin.</p>
<p data-start="1232" data-end="1314">Even oils considered “gentle” can cause irritation or sensitization when overused.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1jngajt" data-start="1321" data-end="1353">A Conservative Usage Guideline</h2>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-64227" src="https://joanmorais.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/eo_usage_ml_JMCS.jpg" alt="" width="900" height="600" srcset="https://joanmorais.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/eo_usage_ml_JMCS.jpg 1536w, https://joanmorais.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/eo_usage_ml_JMCS-768x512.jpg 768w, https://joanmorais.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/eo_usage_ml_JMCS-500x333.jpg 500w, https://joanmorais.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/eo_usage_ml_JMCS-700x467.jpg 700w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p data-start="1355" data-end="1447">Note: All drop counts are rounded down to the nearest whole drop. For example, <strong data-start="323" data-end="351">1.5 drops becomes 1 drop</strong>, since partial drops cannot be accurately measured.</p>
<p data-start="1355" data-end="1447">A conservative and common usage rate for many adult leave-on body products is approximately:</p>
<ul data-start="1449" data-end="1527">
<li data-section-id="6aj1qf" data-start="1449" data-end="1491"><strong data-start="1451" data-end="1489">9 drops per 1 ounce (30 mL / 30 g)</strong></li>

<h2 data-start="0" data-end="84">Why the Type of Formulation Matters with Essential Oils</h2>
<p data-start="0" data-end="84">The type of formulation also matters significantly when working with essential oils.</p>
<p data-start="86" data-end="350">Essential oils are lipophilic, meaning they dissolve best in oils and oil-soluble ingredients rather than water. Because of this, essential oils are generally incorporated more effectively into <strong data-start="280" data-end="306">anhydrous formulations, </strong> products that contain no water — such as:</p>
<ul data-start="352" data-end="443">
<li data-section-id="nj3k3l" data-start="352" data-end="365">Body oils</li>
<li data-section-id="1ud06j5" data-start="366" data-end="381">Facial oils</li>
<li data-section-id="v0pgjd" data-start="382" data-end="391">Balms</li>
<li data-section-id="4gz7va" data-start="392" data-end="402">Salves</li>
<li data-section-id="ltu0dp" data-start="403" data-end="417">Oil serums</li>
<li data-section-id="10aibos" data-start="418" data-end="443">Butter-based products</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="445" data-end="607">In these systems, the essential oils are naturally compatible with the oil phase and tend to distribute more evenly and remain more stable within the formulation.</p>
<p data-start="609" data-end="964">Water-based formulations, such as lotions, creams, gels, sprays, and toners, are different because they are composed largely of water. A lotion, for example, is commonly around <strong data-start="786" data-end="807">70% or more water</strong>. Since essential oils do not naturally dissolve in water, they require proper incorporation into the oil phase and stabilization within the emulsion system.</p>
<p data-start="966" data-end="1048">Without proper formulation techniques, essential oils in water-based products may:</p>
<ul data-start="1049" data-end="1215">
<li data-section-id="16x4g34" data-start="1049" data-end="1080">Separate from the formulation</li>
<li data-section-id="17ugwdr" data-start="1081" data-end="1103">Float to the surface</li>
<li data-section-id="6w507p" data-start="1104" data-end="1132">Create uneven distribution</li>
<li data-section-id="10uw7am" data-start="1133" data-end="1188">Increase the risk of localized irritation on the skin</li>
<li data-section-id="u9wd9x" data-start="1189" data-end="1215">Affect product stability</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1217" data-end="1307">This is one reason emulsifiers and solubilizers are important in water-containing systems.</p>
<p data-start="1309" data-end="1534">Because essential oils are often more effectively “held” within oil-rich systems, anhydrous products can sometimes provide a smoother and more elegant aromatic experience at lower usage rates compared to water-heavy products.</p>
<p data-start="1536" data-end="1804" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">However, safety guidelines and dilution considerations still apply even in oil-only formulations. An anhydrous product can actually increase skin contact with essential oils because there is no water present to dilute the oil phase. Conservative use remains important.</p>

<h2 data-section-id="g99bvd" data-start="0" data-end="82">Safflower Oil for Babies and Children: Benefits, Uses, and the Science Behind It</h2>
<p data-start="84" data-end="464">Parents are increasingly looking for gentle, plant-based ingredients for baby and children’s skin care. One lightweight botanical oil that deserves more attention is <span class="hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline"><span class="whitespace-normal">Safflower Oil</span></span>. Rich in essential fatty acids and known for its soft, silky feel, safflower oil has been studied for its potential to support the delicate skin barrier of babies and children.</p>
<h3 data-start="84" data-end="464"><a href="https://joanmoraiscosmeticsschool.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/Safflower_Oil_Babies_JoanMorais.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Download Safflower Oil for Babies</a></h3>
<h2 data-section-id="7k42sy" data-start="677" data-end="701">What Is Safflower Oil?</h2>
<p data-start="703" data-end="881">Safflower oil is pressed from the seeds of the safflower plant (<em data-start="767" data-end="789">Carthamus tinctorius</em>). It has long been used in food, traditional wellness practices, and cosmetic formulations.</p>
<p data-start="883" data-end="925">There are two main types of safflower oil:</p>
<ol data-start="926" data-end="988">
<li data-section-id="erdi2t" data-start="926" data-end="960"><strong data-start="929" data-end="960">High-linoleic safflower oil</strong></li>
<li data-section-id="1hyzhl9" data-start="961" data-end="988">High-oleic safflower oil</li>
</ol>
<p data-start="990" data-end="1155">For baby and children’s skin care, the <strong data-start="1029" data-end="1054">high-linoleic version</strong> is generally preferred because it is rich in omega-6 fatty acids that help support the skin barrier.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="2nr569" data-start="1162" data-end="1194">Why Baby Skin Needs Extra Care</h2>
<p data-start="1196" data-end="1318">A baby’s skin is thinner, more delicate, and loses moisture more easily than adult skin. Newborns and young children have:</p>
<ul data-start="1319" data-end="1459">
<li data-section-id="el1ubu" data-start="1319" data-end="1346">A developing skin barrier</li>
<li data-section-id="126gm4g" data-start="1347" data-end="1391">Increased transepidermal water loss (TEWL)</li>
<li data-section-id="1v9x8l" data-start="1392" data-end="1427">Greater sensitivity to irritation</li>
<li data-section-id="1u2tpyu" data-start="1428" data-end="1459">More vulnerability to dryness</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1461" data-end="1527">This is why choosing the right oils in baby care products matters.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1de8j2l" data-start="1534" data-end="1585">Benefits of Safflower Oil for Babies and Children</h2>
<h2 data-section-id="mp5qcl" data-start="1587" data-end="1614">1. Rich in Linoleic Acid</h2>
<p data-start="1616" data-end="1671">High-linoleic safflower oil contains a large amount of:</p>
<ul data-start="1672" data-end="1712">
<li data-section-id="h95ene" data-start="1672" data-end="1712"><strong data-start="1674" data-end="1712">Linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acid)</strong></li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1714" data-end="1795">Linoleic acid is an important component of healthy skin barrier lipids and helps:</p>
<ul data-start="1796" data-end="1884">
<li data-section-id="1r34n0l" data-start="1796" data-end="1818">Reduce moisture loss</li>
<li data-section-id="19mqyzl" data-start="1819" data-end="1840">Support softer skin</li>
<li data-section-id="6qi5vr" data-start="1841" data-end="1860">Improve skin feel</li>
<li data-section-id="11pkdl7" data-start="1861" data-end="1884">Protect delicate skin</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1886" data-end="2008">Research has shown that oils rich in linoleic acid are often more supportive for infant skin than oils high in oleic acid.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="gcrl7h" data-start="2015" data-end="2043">2. Lightweight and Gentle</h2>
<p data-start="2045" data-end="2062">Safflower oil is:</p>
<ul data-start="2063" data-end="2125">
<li data-section-id="dmd9hy" data-start="2063" data-end="2076">Lightweight</li>
<li data-section-id="pt4dzb" data-start="2077" data-end="2093">Fast absorbing</li>
<li data-section-id="8nyoll" data-start="2094" data-end="2105">Non-heavy</li>
<li data-section-id="hq52yz" data-start="2106" data-end="2125">Silky on the skin</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="2127" data-end="2162">This makes it especially useful in:</p>
<ul data-start="2163" data-end="2252">
<li data-section-id="ffzt2" data-start="2163" data-end="2182">Baby massage oils</li>
<li data-section-id="o0teze" data-start="2183" data-end="2204">Lightweight lotions</li>
<li data-section-id="bw0y8b" data-start="2205" data-end="2226">Creams for children</li>
<li data-section-id="l160ub" data-start="2227" data-end="2252">Sensitive skin products</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="2254" data-end="2336">Unlike heavier oils, safflower oil usually leaves less greasy residue on the skin.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="howqwe" data-start="2343" data-end="2379">3. Helps Support the Skin Barrier</h2>
<p data-start="2381" data-end="2475">The infant skin barrier is still developing after birth. Supporting the skin barrier may help:</p>
<ul data-start="2476" data-end="2576">
<li data-section-id="xfblg" data-start="2476" data-end="2494">Minimize dryness</li>
<li data-section-id="yxxvm0" data-start="2495" data-end="2514">Improve hydration</li>
<li data-section-id="t1bsk" data-start="2515" data-end="2543">Reduce rough or flaky skin</li>
<li data-section-id="1w981mx" data-start="2544" data-end="2576">Maintain healthy skin function</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="2578" data-end="2687">Studies on infant skin care suggest that linoleic-rich oils can help support barrier integrity and hydration.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="18b6adq" data-start="2694" data-end="2731">4. Excellent for Baby Massage Oils</h2>
<p data-start="2733" data-end="2812">Baby massage has been traditionally practiced in many cultures and may support:</p>
<ul data-start="2813" data-end="2875">
<li data-section-id="dncjqv" data-start="2813" data-end="2825">Relaxation</li>
<li data-section-id="1mjlspg" data-start="2826" data-end="2848">Parent-child bonding</li>
<li data-section-id="5vjc1y" data-start="2849" data-end="2858">Comfort</li>
<li data-section-id="snvyy2" data-start="2859" data-end="2875">Sleep routines</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="2877" data-end="2982">Safflower oil’s smooth glide and lightweight texture make it an excellent choice for baby massage blends.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="b2hvmj" data-start="2989" data-end="3031">Studies on Safflower Oil and Infant Skin</h2>
<h2 data-section-id="cau4f2" data-start="3033" data-end="3066">Research on Linoleic-Rich Oils</h2>
<p data-start="3068" data-end="3168">Scientific research on infant skin care often compares vegetable oils used on newborns and children.</p>
<p data-start="3170" data-end="3205">Studies have examined oils such as:</p>
<ul data-start="3206" data-end="3263">
<li data-section-id="u0dxtb" data-start="3206" data-end="3221">Sunflower oil</li>
<li data-section-id="rkaktv" data-start="3222" data-end="3237">Safflower oil</li>
<li data-section-id="1h95hi3" data-start="3238" data-end="3249">Olive oil</li>
<li data-section-id="1bi5hka" data-start="3250" data-end="3263">Mustard oil</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="3265" data-end="3415">Researchers found that oils rich in linoleic acid generally performed better for supporting infant skin barrier function than oils rich in oleic acid.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="aqaqlm" data-start="3422" data-end="3463">Why High-Oleic Oils Can Be Problematic</h2>
<p data-start="3465" data-end="3524">Some studies suggest that oils very high in oleic acid may:</p>
<ul data-start="3525" data-end="3642">
<li data-section-id="1wth844" data-start="3525" data-end="3567">Disrupt the skin barrier in some infants</li>
<li data-section-id="1ldmiol" data-start="3568" data-end="3599">Increase irritation potential</li>
<li data-section-id="cvh5k3" data-start="3600" data-end="3642">Affect skin integrity with excessive use</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="3644" data-end="3767">This is one reason why formulators often prefer linoleic-rich oils such as safflower or sunflower oil in baby care systems.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="8hzsw5" data-start="3774" data-end="3810">Research on Premature Infant Skin</h2>
<p data-start="3812" data-end="3900">Premature babies are especially vulnerable because their skin barrier is underdeveloped.</p>
<p data-start="3902" data-end="4008">Studies on topical vegetable oils in premature infants found that essential fatty acid-rich oils may help:</p>
<ul data-start="4009" data-end="4080">
<li data-section-id="cpmawu" data-start="4009" data-end="4033">Improve skin condition</li>
<li data-section-id="12tl4m6" data-start="4034" data-end="4053">Reduce water loss</li>
<li data-section-id="1l8gwp" data-start="4054" data-end="4080">Support barrier recovery</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="4082" data-end="4211">While sunflower oil has been studied more extensively, safflower oil is chemically similar due to its high linoleic acid content.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1baipyg" data-start="4218" data-end="4268">How to Use Safflower Oil for Babies and Children</h2>
<h2 data-section-id="yg3s9k" data-start="4270" data-end="4289">Baby Massage Oil</h2>
<p data-start="4290" data-end="4338">Safflower oil can be used alone or blended with:</p>

<h2 data-section-id="buqsik" data-start="4428" data-end="4454">Lightweight Baby Lotion</h2>
<p data-start="4455" data-end="4500">It works beautifully in emulsions because it:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" data-section-id="ut45mw" data-start="0" data-end="36">Why Gentle Baby Skin Care Matters</h2>
<p data-start="38" data-end="315">A baby’s skin is delicate, sensitive, and still developing. After birth, the skin transitions from the protected environment of the womb to exposure to air, fabrics, temperature changes, and environmental elements. Because of this, baby skin can easily become irritated or dry.</p>
<p data-start="317" data-end="611">Many commercial baby products contain strong fragrances, harsh detergents, unnecessary dyes, and overly complicated ingredient systems that may not be ideal for delicate skin. Gentle, plant-based baby care products can help support the skin naturally while keeping routines simple and soothing.</p>
<p data-start="613" data-end="850">In many cases, newborn skin only needs warm water and a very mild cleanser. When products are used on the skin, especially products that remain on the skin like balms and ointments, they should be very gentle and thoughtfully formulated.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A newborn baby is born with wrinkly skin and a protective layer called the vernix. This vernix will naturally fall off during the first week. Avoid rubbing or removing this layer. Newborns have thin and sensitive skin compared to mature adult skin. Because of the thinness, this can make baby skin prone to bacterial growth and irritation.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Choose Natural &amp; Organic Ingredients</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Products applied to a baby’s skin should be minimal, gentle, and made with high-quality natural ingredients whenever possible. Plant oils, botanical extracts, hydrosols, herbs, and gentle waxes can help nourish and comfort delicate skin while keeping routines simple.</p>
<p>Gentle baby care products should be formulated with baby skin in mind and designed to support the skin’s natural protective barrier.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" data-section-id="21671x" data-start="1136" data-end="1171">Gentle Plant Oils for Baby Skin</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Plant oils also called vegetable oils and carrier oils provide rich nourishment,  protection and lubrication. The best plant oils are the least processed, organic, cold pressed and unrefined. The oils listed here are suitable and gentle for babies and children.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph" data-start="1173" data-end="1235">Some of the most popular plant oils used in baby care include:</p>
<ul data-start="1237" data-end="1601">
<li data-section-id="sue55a" data-start="1237" data-end="1320"><strong data-start="1239" data-end="1254">Apricot Oil</strong> – lightweight, mild, nourishing, and excellent for sensitive skin</li>
<li data-section-id="vcsqyg" data-start="1321" data-end="1409"><strong>Safflower Oil – </strong>lightweight, fast-absorbing, softening, and gentle for sensitive skin</li>
<li data-section-id="vcsqyg" data-start="1321" data-end="1409"><strong data-start="1323" data-end="1337">Jojoba Oil</strong> – technically a liquid plant wax that helps protect and soften the skin</li>
<li data-section-id="oj9sn1" data-start="1410" data-end="1480"><strong data-start="1412" data-end="1429">Sunflower Oil</strong> – rich in vitamins A, D, and E and easily absorbed</li>
<li data-section-id="1hnswhi" data-start="1481" data-end="1543"><strong data-start="1483" data-end="1503">Sweet Almond Oil</strong> – softening, conditioning, and soothing</li>
<li data-section-id="1faxz44" data-start="1544" data-end="1601"><strong data-start="1546" data-end="1561">Avocado Oil</strong> – nutrient-rich and deeply moisturizing</li>
</ul>
<h3 data-start="1603" data-end="1709">These oils work beautifully in baby massage oils, diaper balms, ointments, and moisturizing body products.<br /><br /><a href="https://joanmorais.com/safflower-oil-for-babies-and-children-benefits-and-skin-care-research/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Learn more about Safflower Oil for Babies and Children </a></h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"> </h3>
<h3>Herbs &amp; Ingredients</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Herbs contain natural healing and beneficial properties. These can be excellent for sensitive baby skin or can help sooth diaper rash.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Calendula, <em>Calendula officinalis</em>: all-purpose skin healing herb. Calendula is soothing to the skin  and promotes healing of minor cuts, rashes and chapped skin.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chamomile, <em>Matricaria recutita</em>: Chamomile is a gentle herb to use for soothing rashes. It helps to relax and  soothe the body and it is also anti-inflammatory.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chickweed, <em>Stellaria media</em>: Chickweed is known for its healing properties for rashes.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lavender, <em>Lavandula officinalis</em>: Lavender helps to soothe, calm, relax and promote sleep. Lavender is known as  a skin reparative herb that promotes rapid healing.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lemon Balm, <em>Melissa officinalis</em>: Lemon Balm is a mild herb that helps to calm and relax.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Oatmeal, <em>Avena Sativa</em>: Oatmeal helps to soothe nerves and the skin. It helps relieve itching.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Plantain, <em>Plantago major</em>: Plantain helps to heal wounds and reduce itching.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Roses, <em>Rosa centifolia</em>: Roses are calming, soothing and comforting.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hydrosols</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Hydrosols can be beneficial for baby skin. These are mild and deliver plant nutrients to the skin. Hydrosols are often a gentler alternative to essential oils for babies and children.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Try: Organic German Chamomile, Organic Lavandula Hydrosol, Organic Yarrow Hydrosol</p>
<p>These gentle ingredients can be incorporated into simple botanical baby care formulations.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Formulating Organic Baby Care Products</h2>
<h3 data-section-id="69iwk7" data-start="2265" data-end="2305">Baby Bath Botanicals and Herbal Baths</h3>
<p data-start="2307" data-end="2396">A calming herbal bath can become a beautiful evening ritual for babies and parents alike.</p>
<p data-start="2398" data-end="2439">Simple bath botanical blends may include:</p>
<ul data-start="2440" data-end="2508">
<li data-section-id="1s25g0n" data-start="2440" data-end="2449">Oatmeal</li>
<li data-section-id="mn0mmf" data-start="2450" data-end="2469">Calendula flowers</li>
<li data-section-id="10tk0rf" data-start="2470" data-end="2489">Chamomile flowers</li>
<li data-section-id="fkwzz1" data-start="2490" data-end="2508">Lavender flowers</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="2510" data-end="2677">The herbs can be placed inside a muslin or organza bag and infused into warm bath water. Oatmeal baths are especially popular for helping soothe dry or irritated skin.</p>
<p data-start="2679" data-end="2791">Herbal baths are not only relaxing for babies, they can also create a calming experience for the entire family.</p>
<h3 data-section-id="1wk3nmz" data-start="2798" data-end="2833">Natural Baby Balms and Ointments</h3>
<p data-start="2835" data-end="2982">Balms and ointments are popular baby care products because they help protect the skin from excess moisture while providing nourishment and comfort.</p>
<p data-start="2984" data-end="3030">Simple natural baby balms are often made with:</p>
<ul data-start="3031" data-end="3094">
<li data-section-id="25svti" data-start="3031" data-end="3043">Plant oils</li>
<li data-section-id="3vhfbw" data-start="3044" data-end="3059">Plant butters</li>
<li data-section-id="1na8wkt" data-start="3060" data-end="3094">Gentle waxes like candelilla wax</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="3096" data-end="3208">These formulations can help create a light protective barrier on the skin while remaining gentle and breathable.</p>
<p data-start="3210" data-end="3287">Many parents also enjoy making multipurpose family balms that can be used on:</p>
<ul data-start="3288" data-end="3356">
<li data-section-id="8qdpa0" data-start="3288" data-end="3298">Dry skin</li>
<li data-section-id="nqajcf" data-start="3299" data-end="3313">Rough elbows</li>

<li data-section-id="11lyeav" data-start="3341" data-end="3356">Chapped areas</li>
</ul>
<h2 data-section-id="1yqfajs" data-start="3363" data-end="3397"><br />Essential Oil Safety for Babies</h2>
<p data-start="3399" data-end="3463">When it comes to babies and essential oils, less is always best.</p>
<p data-start="3465" data-end="3694">Essential oils are highly concentrated and should always be properly diluted before use. Some parents prefer avoiding essential oils completely during the newborn stage and instead use hydrosols for a gentler aromatic experience.</p>
<p data-start="3696" data-end="3714">Hydrosols such as:</p>
<ul data-start="3715" data-end="3755">
<li data-section-id="14c9dwz" data-start="3715" data-end="3734">Lavender hydrosol</li>
<li data-section-id="u85prp" data-start="3735" data-end="3755">Chamomile hydrosol</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="3757" data-end="3860">can be lightly misted into the air or added in small amounts to bath water for a subtle calming effect.</p>
<p data-start="3862" data-end="3983">Always patch test new products before use.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="mnn0l4" data-start="3990" data-end="4033"><br />The Importance of Touch and Baby Massage</h2>
<p data-start="4035" data-end="4151">Natural baby care is not only about ingredients, it is also about connection, touch, and creating calming routines.</p>
<p data-start="4153" data-end="4177">Gentle massage may help:</p>
<ul data-start="4178" data-end="4282">
<li data-section-id="1symp1t" data-start="4178" data-end="4195">promote bonding</li>
<li data-section-id="iwa7xw" data-start="4196" data-end="4218">encourage relaxation</li>

<p data-start="4284" data-end="4389">A simple massage oil made with gentle plant oils can become a peaceful part of bedtime or post-bath care.</p>

<h2 data-start="85" data-end="373">Purple Shampoo (Blue Shampoo)</h2>
<p data-start="85" data-end="373">Purple shampoo, also blue shampoo depending on the tone, is a specialized toning cleanser designed to neutralize unwanted warm tones in the hair. It’s one of the most widely used corrective maintenance products in both professional salons and at-home hair care routines.</p>
<p data-start="375" data-end="535">If you’re formulating hair care products or building a line, understanding how toning shampoos work gives you a powerful, high-demand product category to offer.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="7ctflt" data-start="542" data-end="578">What Is Purple (or Blue) Shampoo?</h2>
<p data-start="580" data-end="692">Purple and blue shampoos are <strong data-start="609" data-end="638">color-depositing shampoos</strong> that use pigments to visually correct unwanted tones:</p>
<ul data-start="694" data-end="804">
<li data-section-id="1rhb8tg" data-start="694" data-end="747"><strong data-start="696" data-end="714">Purple shampoo</strong> → neutralizes <strong data-start="729" data-end="745">yellow tones</strong></li>
<li data-section-id="12ujuhz" data-start="748" data-end="804"><strong data-start="750" data-end="766">Blue shampoo</strong> → neutralizes <strong data-start="781" data-end="804">orange/brassy tones</strong></li>
</ul>
<p data-start="806" data-end="843">This works based on <strong data-start="826" data-end="842">color theory</strong>:</p>
<ul data-start="844" data-end="924">
<li data-section-id="1b1eblu" data-start="844" data-end="894">Purple sits opposite yellow on the color wheel</li>
<li data-section-id="guby7k" data-start="895" data-end="924">Blue sits opposite orange</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="926" data-end="1023">So when applied to hair, these pigments visually cancel out warmth, leaving the hair looking:</p>
<ul data-start="1024" data-end="1079">
<li data-section-id="10o7ijh" data-start="1024" data-end="1036">Brighter</li>
<li data-section-id="15bpz2h" data-start="1037" data-end="1053">Cooler-toned</li>
<li data-section-id="1dpw4y8" data-start="1054" data-end="1079">More refined in color</li>
</ul>
<h2 data-section-id="wkdkkq" data-start="1086" data-end="1119">The Purpose of Toning Shampoos</h2>
<p data-start="1121" data-end="1183">The primary function is <strong data-start="1145" data-end="1166">color maintenance</strong>, especially for:</p>
<ul data-start="1185" data-end="1316">
<li data-section-id="t2iekt" data-start="1185" data-end="1221">Blonde hair (natural or lightened)</li>
<li data-section-id="a1k3wr" data-start="1222" data-end="1244">Gray and silver hair</li>
<li data-section-id="yh43fq" data-start="1245" data-end="1276">Highlighted or balayaged hair</li>
<li data-section-id="d7mm0y" data-start="1277" data-end="1316">Bleached or chemically lightened hair</li>
</ul>
<h3 data-section-id="19kbee" data-start="1318" data-end="1335">What it does:</h3>
<ul data-start="1336" data-end="1472">
<li data-section-id="1eawqqw" data-start="1336" data-end="1356">Reduces brassiness</li>
<li data-section-id="16k3ujr" data-start="1357" data-end="1402">Enhances cool tones (ash, platinum, silver)</li>
<li data-section-id="ch1vc9" data-start="1403" data-end="1436">Brightens dull or yellowed hair</li>
<li data-section-id="cjrhj3" data-start="1437" data-end="1472">Extends time between salon visits</li>
</ul>
<h2 data-section-id="kqurx4" data-start="1479" data-end="1527">How It Works (Cosmetic Chemistry Perspective)</h2>
<p data-start="1529" data-end="1607">From a formulation standpoint, purple shampoo is a surface-deposit system.</p>
<h3 data-section-id="vn8ka8" data-start="1609" data-end="1627">Key Mechanism:</h3>
<ul data-start="1628" data-end="1895">
<li data-section-id="6o2i9g" data-start="1628" data-end="1715">Water-soluble or dispersible direct dyes (basic dyes) deposit onto the hair shaft</li>
<li data-section-id="eqyctl" data-start="1716" data-end="1793">Hair, especially porous or damaged hair, has a negatively charged surface</li>
<li data-section-id="p8yu1c" data-start="1794" data-end="1895">Many toning dyes are cationic (positively charged), allowing them to lightly adhere to the hair</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1897" data-end="1935">This is <strong data-start="1905" data-end="1928">not permanent color, </strong>it is:</p>
<ul data-start="1936" data-end="2007">
<li data-section-id="1pkarmb" data-start="1936" data-end="1947">Temporary, does not color the hair purple if formulated correctly</li>
<li data-section-id="17txjwe" data-start="1948" data-end="1974">Surface-level deposition</li>
<li data-section-id="g98xfc" data-start="1975" data-end="2007">Gradually removed with washing</li>
</ul>
<h2 data-section-id="14kgnzi" data-start="2014" data-end="2062">Key Functional Components in a Purple Shampoo</h2>
<p data-start="2064" data-end="2171">A toning shampoo is not just about adding pigment, it must balance cleansing, deposition, and hair feel.</p>
<h3 data-section-id="m4b5sz" data-start="2173" data-end="2197">1. Surfactant System</h3>
<ul data-start="2198" data-end="2321">
<li data-section-id="1b9r6lm" data-start="2198" data-end="2321">Mild cleansers are preferred:

<h1 data-section-id="5tkiey" data-start="146" data-end="217">Making Your Dreams Happen: A Simple Formula That Still Works Today</h1>
<p data-start="219" data-end="311">You are filled with dreams and visions of who you are meant to be and what you want in life.</p>
<p data-start="313" data-end="468">These dreams are not random. They are your <strong data-start="356" data-end="372">unique gifts, </strong>present since the day you were born. They are a reflection of who you are and why you are here.</p>
<p data-start="470" data-end="513">Yet, for much of our lives, we resist them.</p>
<p data-start="515" data-end="703">We try to become someone else… to fit into expectations, belief systems, and roles that were never truly ours. And in doing so, life becomes complicated. We feel disconnected. We struggle.</p>
<p data-start="705" data-end="785">An eagle is born an eagle.<br data-start="731" data-end="734" />It does not spend its life trying to be a blue jay.</p>
<p data-start="787" data-end="824">It simply becomes what it already is.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1w075q9" data-start="831" data-end="862">The Origin of This Formula</h2>
<p data-start="864" data-end="961">Over 20 years ago, Joan Morais created a simple, powerful framework to bring dreams into reality.</p>
<p data-start="963" data-end="1011">She didn’t just write about it, she <strong data-start="998" data-end="1010">lived it</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="1013" data-end="1055">Using these exact principles, Joan became:</p>
<ul data-start="1056" data-end="1242">
<li data-section-id="cgq2tm" data-start="1056" data-end="1107">One of the <strong data-start="1069" data-end="1107">first natural cosmetic formulators</strong></li>
<li data-section-id="1ciy3sq" data-start="1108" data-end="1164">A <strong data-start="1112" data-end="1164">pioneer in online cosmetic formulation education</strong></li>
<li data-section-id="yy3mdi" data-start="1165" data-end="1242">The founder of a globally recognized <strong data-start="1204" data-end="1242">online cosmetic formulation school</strong></li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1244" data-end="1254">And today?</p>
<p data-start="1256" data-end="1293">She still uses these same techniques.</p>
<p data-start="1295" data-end="1313">Because they work.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="oyavmv" data-start="1320" data-end="1369">A Dream Is a Goal—And It Starts in the Mind</h2>
<p data-start="1371" data-end="1403">Every dream begins as a thought.</p>
<p data-start="1405" data-end="1463">Before anything exists in physical form, it must first be:</p>
<ul data-start="1464" data-end="1499">
<li data-section-id="1fws0wl" data-start="1464" data-end="1477"><strong data-start="1466" data-end="1477">Thought</strong></li>
<li data-section-id="ke71n9" data-start="1478" data-end="1488"><strong data-start="1480" data-end="1488">Seen</strong></li>
<li data-section-id="80nrv7" data-start="1489" data-end="1499"><strong data-start="1491" data-end="1499">Felt</strong></li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1501" data-end="1549">It is not enough to hope your dream will happen.</p>
<p data-start="1551" data-end="1560">You must:</p>
<ul data-start="1561" data-end="1652">
<li data-section-id="1g9xlsa" data-start="1561" data-end="1579">See it clearly</li>
<li data-section-id="yitnmh" data-start="1580" data-end="1615">Feel it as if it already exists</li>
<li data-section-id="hllezb" data-start="1616" data-end="1652">Repeatedly return to that vision</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1654" data-end="1709">This is not wishful thinking—it is <strong data-start="1689" data-end="1708">mental training</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="1711" data-end="1745">And it must be paired with action.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1mgikra" data-start="1752" data-end="1789">The Power of Small Action Steps</h2>
<p data-start="1791" data-end="1841">All dreams—big or small—are achieved the same way:</p>
<p data-start="1843" data-end="1886"><strong data-start="1843" data-end="1886">Through small, consistent action steps.</strong></p>
<p data-start="1888" data-end="1922">Everything in your life right now:</p>
<ul data-start="1923" data-end="1995">
<li data-section-id="1b4nvff" data-start="1923" data-end="1938">Your career</li>
<li data-section-id="151ps6m" data-start="1939" data-end="1961">Your relationships</li>
<li data-section-id="14uoxcv" data-start="1962" data-end="1979">Your business</li>
<li data-section-id="1u9p0ij" data-start="1980" data-end="1995">Your skills</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="1997" data-end="2019">…started as a thought.</p>
<p data-start="2021" data-end="2055">Then you took action—step by step.</p>
<p data-start="2057" data-end="2097">The same process applies to your dreams.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="qepx7k" data-start="2104" data-end="2139"> Creation Is a Natural Process</h2>
<p data-start="2141" data-end="2197">The process of creating your dream is no different than:</p>
<ul data-start="2198" data-end="2262">
<li data-section-id="1u2cn8h" data-start="2198" data-end="2218">Growing a flower</li>
<li data-section-id="1mzhsiy" data-start="2219" data-end="2238">Raising a child</li>
<li data-section-id="1xehfg9" data-start="2239" data-end="2262">Building a business</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="2264" data-end="2304">It is a <strong data-start="2272" data-end="2303">natural, repeatable process</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="2306" data-end="2322">But it requires:</p>
<ul data-start="2323" data-end="2372">
<li data-section-id="j710oc" data-start="2323" data-end="2336">Intention</li>
<li data-section-id="d59d6m" data-start="2337" data-end="2350">Attention</li>
<li data-section-id="1l6w7na" data-start="2351" data-end="2372">Consistent action</li>
</ul>
<h2 data-section-id="hk9bdv" data-start="2379" data-end="2415">When It Feels Hard… Keep Going</h2>
<p data-start="2417" data-end="2460">There will be moments when doubt creeps in.</p>
<p data-start="2462" data-end="2566">When things don’t go as planned.<br data-start="2494" data-end="2497" />When others don’t understand your vision.<br data-start="2538" data-end="2541" />When progress feels slow.</p>
<p data-start="2568" data-end="2596">This is part of the process.</p>
<p data-start="2598" data-end="2641">And this is exactly where most people stop.</p>
<p data-start="2643" data-end="2721">But this is also where everything can change—if you simply take one more step.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="1bzs2q7" data-start="2728" data-end="2750">Take Another Step</h2>
<p data-start="2752" data-end="2891">When things go wrong and you feel down,<br data-start="2791" data-end="2794" />You share your dreams and others just frown.<br data-start="2838" data-end="2841" />When the money is low,<br data-start="2863" data-end="2866" />And everywhere you owe.</p>
<p data-start="2893" data-end="2971">Take a little break and have some fun,<br data-start="2931" data-end="2934" />But don’t leave your dreams undone.</p>
<p data-start="2973" data-end="3063">The rhythm of life is a natural swing,<br data-start="3011" data-end="3014" />Filled with highs and lows that sometime sting.</p>
<p data-start="3065" data-end="3141">Many times when close to our dream,<br data-start="3100" data-end="3103" />We give up as hopeless it does seem.</p>
<p data-start="3143" data-end="3237">We don’t see the dream is only a step away,<br data-start="3186" data-end="3189" />If we hung on, it would happen in another day.</p>
<p data-start="3239" data-end="3333">You were born to achieve the dreams in you,<br data-start="3282" data-end="3285" />Take another step until your dreams come true.</p>
<p data-start="3335" data-end="3348">~ Joan Morais</p>
<h2 data-section-id="186sto9" data-start="3355" data-end="3383">The Power of Stillness</h2>
<p data-start="3385" data-end="3453">When you slow down—when you become quiet—something powerful happens:</p>
<ul data-start="3455" data-end="3527">
<li data-section-id="l4umys" data-start="3455" data-end="3475">Intuition speaks</li>
<li data-section-id="jcqorv" data-start="3476" data-end="3497">Inspiration flows</li>
<li data-section-id="1cqo8d5" data-start="3498" data-end="3527">Ideas arrive effortlessly</li>
</ul>
<p data-start="3529" data-end="3575">Your dreams are always communicating with you.</p>
<p data-start="3577" data-end="3616">But you must create space to hear them.</p>
<h2 data-section-id="196f8rn" data-start="3623" data-end="3653">The Simple Dream Formula</h2>
<p data-start="3655" data-end="3715">This is the exact formula Joan created—and still uses today:</p>
<h3 data-section-id="h40esv" data-start="3717" data-end="3772">1. Keep your life the same… with one small change</h3>
<p data-start="3773" data-end="3824">Add <strong data-start="3777" data-end="3799">30 minutes per day</strong> dedicated to your dream.</p>

<h3 data-section-id="n1njq4" data-start="3906" data-end="3931">2. Choose one dream</h3>
<p data-start="3932" data-end="3963">What have you been putting off?</p>
<p data-start="3965" data-end="4008">Don’t overthink it.<br data-start="3984" data-end="3987" />Don’t figure out how.</p>
<p data-start="4010" data-end="4047">Just decide:<br />

<h3 data-section-id="9ha3ny" data-start="4049" data-end="4081">3. Don’t worry about “how”</h3>
<p data-start="4082" data-end="4123">Your job is not to figure everything out.</p>
<p data-start="4125" data-end="4140">Your job is to:</p>
