It’s a perfectly pleasant Sunday on the second long-weekend we’ve had in a row in now [in New Zealand], and I’m just head out for an hour+ of hot yoga. These are my favourite links of the week – I hope at least one of them tickles your fancy!

I’ve managed to come up with quite a beauty wishlist over the past couple of weeks – I think I’ve become a bit  obsessed! However, beauty products aren’t cheap in New Zealand so this could become an expensive habit rather quickly. In actual fact, the thing I want the most is a beautiful vanity set-up… Unfortunately, there’s no hope of me getting one without moving houses first.

These are a few of the products topping my list of most-wanted’s.

Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector

I am SO curious about Lancome Visionnaire. It claims to smooth the appearance of fine lies and pores, and improve overall skin appearance – and has some pretty impressive stats to back it up. I’d love to give it a go to see if its all Lancome claims it to be.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Perfume

This perfume smells amazing. I’d heard quite a few people talking about it before I smelt it and I could definitely see what all the fuss was about! Next time you’re in a department store, spritz on a bit of a tester. You’ll see what I’m talking about.

O.P.I Fly and O.P.I Rainbow Connection

I love this teal colour from the Niki Minaj for O.P.I collection, perfect for day-to-day wear when you’re not in the mood to match your nail polish to your clothes. I’ve had my eye on the rainbow glitter concoction for awhile.. I’m a bit worried about its reputation for being difficult to remove, but I think it might just be worth it.

M.A.C Ravishing and M.A.C Please Me

I’ve only recently become a M.A.C lipstick convert after acquiring my first shade – Lady Danger – last weekend. to be frank, it’s the best lipstick I’ve ever owned. These are pretty basic shades, but they’d be great to have on hand for day-to-day wear.
M.A.C Makeup Brushes

I am in dire need of some proper makeup brushes! I do have a couple – one that I use to do my eyeshadow and another for applying powder – but I’d love a full set, especially for eye makeup. After all, I mentioned that one of my goals for this year was to make more of an effort with my eye makeup so, so I need the right tools.

Smashbox Softbox Eyeshadow Palette

I recently acquired Smashbox’s ‘Smokebox’ eyeshadow palette and I’ve taken quite a liking to it. The softbox palette, however, is for creating a much more natural look. I love the little add-ons it comes with too.

Ruby’s AW 12 collection – ‘Capital City’ – is starting to drop at the end of this month (or so I’ve heard!). I’ve really been taken by the look book for this collection, as each look seems to have been put together particularly well. Every time I look through it I’m taken by yet another jumper or cute pair of pants. I love the interesting use of contrasting textiles in the pairing of fuzzy jumpers with metallic shorts, and the nice use of traditional winter colours (black, brown, grey) alongside bright splashes of pink, orange, and blue. These are a few of my favourite looks from the Capital City look book.

I’m not sure how or why but this editorial for Harper’s Bazaar is epitomizes how I feel right now (in a good way!). That out of the way – I’ve been debating all day whether or not I’d post Link Love this week. I wasn’t the most productive this weekend, and wrote off all Sunday catching up on the sleep I missed out on thanks to Saturday night’s party (still – it was loads of fun!). As you can see, I’ve decided to go with it. Mainly because this week’s goodies are super-inspiring and I don’t want to wait another week to share.

• This post from Nubby Twiglet (dated December) popped up in Google Reader earlier this week for some reason. I’m glad I did because we can always use a bit of encouragement to do what we love.

I love the structure in both of these bags! The Diane von Furstenberg would look perfect around the office, while the Marion on the other hand would be the perfect partner on midnight adventures.

I’m torn! Which one would you choose? Or do you have another bag in mind that I should be looking at(!)?

I love Wildfox’s White Label Spring/Sumer 2012 look book for their collection titled ‘Pony Tale’. The designers’ inspiration was the simple idea that even through we might have outgrown Barbies, My Little Pony’s, and plastic castles, we can still do all the ‘grown-up’ things we dreamed about when we were little. i.e., wear lipstick and high heels, go to parties, kiss boys, and travel the world; an aesthetic that is successfully communicated through a concoction of candy-floss hair, pastel colours, flowing sleeves + skirts, and fantasy prints.

Highlights: High-low cut tops, soft knits, pastel jumpers, and cross prints (the brown jumper with the white cross print is my favourite!). + did I mention the Jeffery Campbell collaboration in the shoe-department? So. much. goodness.

One week into 2012 already! How have you spent it? I’ve got a few things to check off my to-do list before I go back to work on Monday, but otherwise I’ve done a good job at setting the tone for 2012: Crafted beauty, creativity and organisation – with plenty of relaxation and time spent with good people. I spent the first few days of 2012 de-cluttering and organizing my living spaces. I’ve trashed un-useable beauty products and makeup, cleared my closet of unwanted clothes and shoes, and emptied my handbags. I’ve also installed a full-length mirror and finally have a hair-station. It’s a WIP, but it’s better than having to use extension cords to get my styling tools to reach the bathroom mirror. I’ve also spent a bit of time crafting my intentions/resolutions for 2012 – for both my style, and my blog.

1. Learn the art of soft curled hair and eye makeup, and take the time to get the look I want – too often I rush through my hair/eye makeup and opt for my ‘usual’ over learning something new and getting creative.
2. Wear more nail polish and rings - time and time again I note polished nails and rings as the cherry on top of any spectacular outfit.
3. Buy the things I want before the things I like - this means buying the Marc Jacobs handbag rather than the five dresses I like on my next trip to the mall.

1. Take a lifestyle, rather than a fashion orientation - I love clothing, shoes, and fashion but I love other things too and I want my blog to reflect that. My goal for 2012 is to turn this blog into a blend of fashion/lifestyle, with a focus on creating and retouching your (beautiful!) life.
2. Post regularly! - posting and looking after a blog with school/work already competing for your precious time is hard! However, with school easing up I’m in a new position to dedicate more of my time to blogging.
3. Build a media kit - i’ve been meaning to do this for some time, but this year it’s time to make it happen!
