Dine family style on us with all your JM friends, and then send the kids to on-site childcare — also on us — while finding out what the PTA has planned for the 2010-2011 school year.

Thanks to all of you who have inquired about the fall after school schedule. We are working very hard to get the materials on line as fast as possible. We know everyone is eager, and we are still waiting on a couple of instructors who have had to make last minute changes. We appreciate everyone’s patience, and hope to have the materials on the website by Friday.

Classes begin the week of September 13 – so you will have next week to make choices and send your registration materials to the instructors. Thanks!

JM teachers and your children need you to volunteer as a Room Parent. This is the perfect opportunity especially if you can’t participate during school hours.

There can be up to four Room Parents per class. You can be a Room Parent even if your child(ren) is(are) not in that class.

Be a Super Star!

As Room Parent Coordinator you play a very important role in the classroom: you are the liaison between teacher and parents.

You will help organize and recruit volunteers for various school activities: Halloween Party, Valentine’s Day Party, Year End Party, Phone Tree, Class Contribution for the Auction, Walkathon, Updating Emergency Info/Supplies, and E-scrip and Scrip program.

JM parents are helpful and supportive. Because of this, many of the jobs you are responsible for recruiting are usually filled at Back to School Night. You can do the rest of the recruiting by telephone.

Please look for the sign-up sheets are on the bulletin board outside the office so you can sign up when you drop off or pick up your child this week. Feel free also to drop me an email or just give me a call.

Parents, remember to save some time after dropping this kids off Monday morning to stop by the Multi-Purpose Room to reconnect with other parents over coffee and sign up for various volunteer opportunities, starting at 8 A.M. for Kindergarten families, 8:30 for ALL.

The first week of school is on Minimum Day schedule, so kinders get out at 12:55 P.M. while older kids get out at 1:25 P.M. The Bell Schedule can be found here. Adventure Time is aware of this change, and they are prepared to provide additional child care to families every day this week.

There will be a lot happening over the upcoming weeks, so be sure to check back here often, subscribe to the School Calendar and sign up for the Community Email List if you haven’t already.

Welcome back to school!

Bring in all your Registration paperwork and get your teacher assignment. Get ready for school!! We will be registering all families, new and returning. At that time, Parents or a designated person(s) will be able to complete both school related and PTA requirements. Each student will receive their new Boomerang Folder and class assignment.

School begins August 30, 2010.

Join us in sprucing up the school garden and more in time for the start of school. We’ll spend a good part of August 21 — likely 10-2 — weeding, painting, organizing, cleaning — and meeting new friends and fellow school community members.
