Mobility of employees from one job to another through transfer, promotion and demotion is internal mobility and some employees leave the organization due to resignation, retirement and termination is called external mobility. What are the purposes of job change?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ans. What is transfer?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ans. A transfer refers to a horizontal or lateral movement of an employee from one job to another in the same organization without any significant change in status or pay. It has been defined as “a lateral shift causing movement of individuals from one position to another usually without involving any marked change in duties, responsibilities, skills needed or compensation.” &lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5). What are the purposes of transfer?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ans. It is the upward movement of an employee in the organization’s hierarchy, to another job commanding greater authority, higher status and better working conditions. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;7). What are the advantages of promotion?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ans.
