Emerson College invites applications and nominations for the Dean of the School of the Arts. The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School and is responsible for leading the intellectual and creative growth of its departments, programs, and faculty within a framework of shared academic governance. The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and serves on the Academic Administrators Council with three deans and the seven academic department chairs to help lead the academic direction of the College. Qualifications and Requirements
• Earned Ph.D, M.F.A., or other terminal degree.

• Actively assist in fundraising, development initiatives, and alumni and donor fulfillment in coordination with the President and the College’s strategic plan.

• Demonstrated leadership on diversity-related initiatives and ability to work effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse faculty and students across disciplines in a collegial manner.

The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with current area faculty and to teach undergraduate and graduate level coursework as dictated by school and program needs in: theatre by/with/for youth; research methodologies; theory, history and literature; and specialized courses in the candidate’s specific research area. Additional job duties include: maintaining an active research profile through scholarly publication and conference participation; directing and serving on graduate committees including MA theses, MFA applied projects, and PhD dissertations; supervising student field experiences and professional internships.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctoral degree in theatre or a related field and at least one year’s experience as a lead instructor at a college or university. Candidates will also have a research record in theatre by/with/for youth and one or more of the following: community engagement, applied theatre, activist performance, educational theatre.

Desired Qualifications: An MFA in theatre or an equivalent record of creative practices focused on children and youth with experience in producing/creating works of performance in non- tertiary contexts is highly desired. Bilingual candidates are also highly desired.

Start date for this position is August 16, 2012.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute scenic designs/implement working drawings through hand and computer drafting while ensuring the work product serves the plans provided by the designer. Create detailed cost outs for each production. Attend all design meetings, production meetings and technical rehearsals.

Planning, evaluation, scheduling, implementation, engineering and supervision of all technical aspects (including sets, props, and special effects ) of performance programming, resulting in the highest level of artistic product produced in the most cost-effective manner. Actively participates in budget planning for future and current seasons.

Work to ensure safe, clean, organized and efficient working areas in scene shops, theatres and production storage areas. Maintain tools and equipment. Actively participate in long range planning for equipment and facility needs.

Supervise ATD, carpenter, scenic charge artist, props master, overhire carpenters, technicians, and apprentices. Actively recruits production staff and overhire.

Serve as emergency technician to assist with the prompt resolution of show-related incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years TD experience
Expertise in carpentry, rigging, welding
Ability to hand draft, working knowledge of AutoCAD and VectorWorks
Working knowledge of stage mechanics and technical theatre (lights, sound, properties, projection, scenic art)

Job Description
The Director of Youth Programs provides the leadership, strategic direction, management and coordination for the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit Programs Department. The Director of Programs oversees the planning and implementation of all Mosaic programs, productions and workshops. The Director of Programs is responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with Mosaic programs staff, sponsors, parents and young artists. Primary Responsibilities

· Manages the design, implementation and management of curriculum for all Mosaic programs and workshops. Evaluates programs, workshops, curriculum and staff based on the Mosaic Model of Youth Development through the Arts.

· Ensures Main Stage staff and First Stage contractors receive the training and orientation necessary to ensure the effective, out-come driven execution of their assigned responsibilities.

· Acts as department liaison to Operations, Marketing and Development staff and coordinates information needed for program marketing and youth recruitment, grant application and reporting, productions, community performances and Mosaic business operations.

· Takes a proactive role in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of program funding sources.

· Oversees the management of program documentation.

· Provides program reports to CEO, Development staff, Board of Directors, funders and sponsors on a regular basis.

· Manages the Programs Department in a fiscally sound manner, ensuring that the appropriate systems, staffing and procedures are in place to support the achievement of youth development, artistic and financial goals. This includes developing and managing Programs line items in the organizational budget.

· Recruits and manages communications with the Arts & Youth Development Advisory Committee.

· Occasionally facilitates workshops on behalf of Mosaic in alignment with the Mosaic Model of Youth Development through the Arts.

· Serves as a visible spokesperson and advocate for Mosaic’s mission and programs in the community.

· Other duties as determined and deemed necessary due to job requirements.

BACKGROUND: Founded in 1987, First Stage Children's Theater has grown from a small theater for young audiences to a nationally acclaimed company drawing annual audiences of more than 135,000 people. With a season including six mainstage plays and two First Steps shows (more than 300 performances annually), First Stage has become one of the largest programs in the nation. First Stage Theater Academy teaches life skills through stage skills—offering classes for students of all ages, cultures and abilities. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Early Stages Program Director will oversee the evaluation, maintenance and development of Theater Academy programming for students age 3 through 4^th grade. This dynamic role will include significant involvement with adjunct staff, parents and students. The Early Stages Program Director will report to the Academy Director. Duties include (but will not be limited to):

• Recruiting, hiring, and evaluation of all Lower elementary faculty, teaching assistants, and student intern positions.

• Develop new programming and maintain existing programming.• Assist in creating and overseeing a progressive year round curriculum.

• Train teachers in Creative Drama methods and pedagogy

• Be available to teach as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires advanced knowledge of theatre both as an art form and as a tool for developing life skills. Expertise in developing and overseeing Creative Drama curriculum and the ability to confidently and publicly articulate the Academy program and philosophy are necessities. Excellent communication skills are critical, along with the ability to adjust communications styles to varied youth, parent and professional populations. The position will occasionally require local travel to schools and other community destinations. Advanced degree in Children’s theatre or Child Drama, teaching experience, curriculum/lesson plan development and youth work experience are required. Some weekends and evenings required. . Responsibilities include:

• Copyedit submitted manuscripts for AATE’s digital magazine Incite/Insight to meet established quality standards.

• Encourage submissions from authors based on editorial schedule and features.

• Copyedit and proofread articles to ensure consistent accuracy and style in accordance with established conventions.

Requirements include:

The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte (CTC) is seeking a Director of Education. CTC is a fully producing, professional theatre company whose primary audiences are young people ages 3-18 and families. The director is responsible for facilitating and organizing the work of the Board’s Community Involvement and Education Committee.
