TITLE Communications Officer

OTHER: Full-time, Contract

LOCATION: Fredericton, New Brunswick

GENERAL: Live Well! Bien Vivre! uses a community-based approach to help prevent and manage chronic medical conditions like type 2 diabetes in New Brunswick. Through peer support, wellness programs and experienced Health Coaches, Live Well! Bien Vivre! work with clients to help them make wellness changes and achieve a healthier lifestyle. Live Well! Bien Vivre! is a partnership between the Medavie Health Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Government of New Brunswick.

The Communications Officer reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for the implementation and continued development of an existing full-scale communications plan as we carry out the Live Well! Bien Vivre! program in six communities across New Brunswick. This position will work closely with Communications and Marketing staff of the Canadian Diabetes Association to develop internal, external and digital communications plans for the Live Well ! Bien Vivre! project that will integrate seamlessly into the Association’s overall brand identity. The Communications Officer will also oversee and support media events and community publicity with the overall goal to raise awareness and participation for the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Write, edit and proofread documents and promotional materials for print, digital and social media platforms.

2. Create, manage and update content on livewellbienvivre.com.

3. Cultivate and maintain relationships with provincial media, maintain up-to-date media lists and press clippings files, and share media coverage with project partners.

4. Support the planning and execution of events and community relations activities, including writing news releases, developing media kits, pitching stories to media, and providing event photography as required.

5. Maintain brand guidelines and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.

6. Develop and distribute the Live Well! Bien Vivre! bimonthly e-newsletter and submit content for partner publications as required.

7. Design posters, infographics, advertisements and edit photos as required.

8. Coordinate the development, production, and distribution of project marketing materials.

9. Prepare quarterly progress reports for the Project Steering Committee, including key project milestones, communications impacts and reach.

10. Provide regional communications and marketing support as needed.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Strong research, writing, and editing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of different audiences.
Media relations experience.
Demonstrated experience developing social media content, maintaining social media accounts and WordPress websites.
Proven ability to develop and execute clear and compelling communications plans.
Good customer service skills and the ability to take a creative and flexible approach to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Able to work independently.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Available for travel and for evening and weekend work
Advanced MS Office skills.
Graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite), photo editing and print production experience is preferred.
Bilingualism is preferred (English and French).
