CHINA / Suman Education International

We are seeking qualified and experienced TEFL teachers to deliver lessons at 4-week-long Summer Camps for local Chinese primary/middle school students to be held in cities across China in July and August. Applicants should be native speakers of British English, be full of energy and able to engage in lively interaction with students. We are also seeking several highly experienced teachers to each take a leading role in their group in implementing the 4 week programme, and to be responsible for ensuring and monitoring the quality of teaching during the programme.

Each week during the Summer Camps, teachers will deliver lessons on 6 days on, 1 day off rota. Aside from the programme, 4 days of sightseeing will be arranged during your stay in China. The cost of visa, plane tickets, accommodation and meals will all be provided by Suman Education International. Teachers will not be paid for delivering lessons but will be given a £250 allowance for each week spent on the camp.

The survival of Florida’s biodiversity and economy is dependent on finding ways to balance farm economics with proper management of water and other natural resources. Taking on this challenge is the mandate of the Hendry County Sustainable Biofuels Center. The Center will be a place for research and teaching, will serve as the learning campus and visitors park. It should become the destination where people come to learn about energy and environment in SW Florida.

Final site of the Center has not be chosen yet, there are several options to consider. Objective of this practical program is to evaluate different criteria for placing the Center (e.g. relative to traffic and urban proximity, existing buildings, land purchase for initial demonstration plots, etc.), develop the different proposed sites architectural designs and consider the site planning from different points of view.

List of main tasks:

-Review already developed design concepts of the Center;
-Get familiar with local, state and federal legislation to understand required regulations for creating your own designs;
-Evaluate different criteria for placing the Center;
-Conduct field trips to collect needed data for evaluating selected sites, create comprehensive database of related photos and maps;
-Produce your new design concept drawings of the Center;
-Review your concept plans with professional architects and decision makers;
-Incorporate into your plan suggested improvements;
-According to the obtained feedback, improve your plans.

MOZAMBIQUE / Association of Coastal Conservation of Mozambique (ACCM – Zavora Marine Lab.)

The building of our research and education centre will commence in March 2012, and we will need the help of capable, dedicated and energetic architecture or construction students (or others with relevant knowledge and experience) to supervise and assist in the field with the construction of the centre. We invite you to volunteer for a period of time (a minimum of 1 month is recommended) between March 2012 and November 2012.

In return you will gain invaluable experience in the sustainable architectural field, as well as helping with conservation efforts in Mozambique. You will experience the pleasures as well as the hardships of living and working in a remote but stunning coastal village in rural Africa. You will be working 5 days a week, and can spend weekends exploring the wonderful area either above or under water!

We offer simple tented accommodation during your stay. Should you want to stay in a room, we can help you arrange accommodation in a lodge at your own cost. Activities in the area include; Diving (reduced prices on dives and courses for volunteers), Ocean safaris with a chance of seeing Humpback Whales (june-november), Whalesharks, dolphins and more, Horseback riding, walks, birdwatching etc.

ACCM Zavora Marine Lab. is currently looking for a dinamic and independent person to co-coordinate humpback whale photo-identification project this winter (from July to October.2012) in Zavora, Mozambique. Zavora is located in one of the most beautiful coastline of Mozambique. This is a volunteer position and previous experience in marine mammals is necessary to apply. Job tasks including:
- to collect land data
- assist to coordinate a team of interns
- to collect boat data and phto ID
- to analyse data
- to produce a final report comparing data from 2011 and 2012
