Hi, do you have a little spot in the corner of a room that you just don't know what to do with? One of those lovely little sunny spaces that you might like to spend time in if only there was something to draw you in. I love decorating those little spots. It's almost like a bonus room, just by adding some furniture. Usually a little chair or daybed - maybe even a writing desk. Bring in a little side table next to a chair and you have a great spot for relaxing with a drink. Add a rug for a splash of colour and texture too. Do you have one of those spots in your home? Perhaps there are some ideas here for you - maybe even a weekend project. Have fun!!

Saturated Colour

Well from one extreme to the other - serene bedrooms with light and airy colour schemes to lots of lovely bright saturated colour. After today's dreary wet - a bit of colour is just what we need. What do you think? Would you decorate with colour? Or is neutral more your style?

Serene Bedrooms

Do you need a sanctuary to escape to at the end of the day? I certainly do. There is nothing nicer than sinking into a beautiful bed with fresh, clean white sheets and gorgeous surroundings. So many of us don't give our bedrooms a second thought and they become dumping grounds for worn clothes, beds unmade, kids toys etc. ha ha that's my room at the moment - I have the clean white sheets, but there are definately a few worn clothes and kids toys floating around too. Moroccan Pouffes

Moroccan Pouffes are a great way to add a pop of colour and personality to a room. They come in an infinate number of colours - metallics, solids and patchworks. I attended the Reed Gift Fair the other week and noticed they were a firm favourite there too with many different suppliers offering them. You could fit them into almost any decorating style, they are extremely versatile. So if you have noticed them around and wondered how to add one to your place, here's some examples to give you inspiration. What do you think? Is it time to run out and buy one now?? British Vogue

I just had to share these photos with you tonight that I came across on Habitually Chic Blog. They were shot by photographer Mario Testino for British Vogue magazine. This is not usually my sort of thing - but I just couldn't go past it. The background interiors are absolutely incredible!! Not only that, I actually like the model too. The clothes are just so retro glam!! they are out of this world. Very luscious indeed!! The Interior Designer is Lorenzo Castillo - make sure you check him out. His work is stunning.

Hi ya - Friday night at home snuggled up under my laptop and there is no place I would rather be. What a mad week!! It's been great though - lots of exciting things happening. The Daily Telegraph came to photograph one of my clients homes on Tuesday. A big thank you to my darling client who cleaned her little heart out for 2 days to get ready for them!! It is a huge job to get a home ready for a photo shoot - I am very grateful. Can't wait to see it in print.

I'm so lucky I have such a fabulous job that I can spend a day shopping as part of my work. If I wasn't out shopping today though, I would love to spend a day in any of these gorgeous home offices. Steven Gambrel

Steven Gambrel is a highly acclaimed designer based in the US. I have just one picture tonight to share from his varied portfolio. It makes me smile - why? Do you notice the two large blue glass balls tied with rope in the bottom right hand corner of the room. When I was growing up in New Zealand one of our neighbours had those very same balls in thier lounge room. For some reason they always caught my eye. I love how it makes me feel when I come across something today - and go "Oh wow!! I remember seeing those when I was a kid" Rachael Mac if your out there and reading this post tonight - do you remember those in your home??

I must do a post on macrame too at some stage - it's coming back!!! There is a fabulous designer in Melbourne who is doing incredibly beautiful things with knotted rope/macrame - so will get onto that.

In the meantime hope you like this room - I love the scale of it, the way the lounge is really low and then the gorgeous map that draws your eye up to that beautiful pendant. The gorgeous texture on the walls and all those circles/spheres repeated. This is a truely lovely room. What do you think? Do you have those moments in interiors when you come across something now that was in your home or a friends home as a child??

Happy Monday!! hope you all had a great day. I just have time to share a quick photo that made me smile today - then it's back down to the office to while away a few hours!!! My most favourite thing to do - I love working at night. It's so peaceful and I seem to get so much more done without the phone and email interrupting me. Hope you like these cute images - I came across them on Ana Antunes Home Styling Blog. It's a stand that one of her friends had at an overseas trade show. That little parrot is so cute!! he was one of my favourites from Sydney's Reed Gift Fair this week as is the butterfly and Chinese calligraphy brush. As for colours - the apples look fabulous next to those divine powder blue boxes! What a gorgeous combination - do you agree?

Starburst Mirrors

Hello, hope you have had a great weekend. I was up early this morning trimming the hedge, pulling out weeds, sweeping paths - phew!! what a crazy way to spend Sunday morning. The kids were at thier dads, so it was a good chance to get some gardening done in peace. I really enjoyed it actually. There's nothing like getting your hands dirty and feeling good about your efforts.

I have a thing for Starburst mirrors at the moment - I keep seeing them popping up in the home magazines and blogs. They are really versatile fitting into retro, classic, eclectic, exotic and contemporary interiors. What do you think, do you like them?

Tufted Furniture

Hi, I just love tufted furniture!! The classic Chesterfield sofa has long been a favourite of mine - even back to childhood I recall thinking how wonderful those lounges were. It's a funny feeling to think about now, something I still love today that sparks those childhood memories.

Did you know it is rumoured the Chesterfield Sofa was first commissioned by PhilipStanhope the 4th Earl of Chesterfield (1694-1773) with its distinctive deep buttoned, quilted leather upholstery and low seat. Apparently there is no definative answer as to when it was actually first designed. This is good enough for me. I know it's been around for a very long time and it has inspired so many more fabulous designs since. Here's some gorgeous images to lose yourself in - what do you think? Accessorising Bathrooms

Hi there, wow what a couple of days I have had!! First a phonecall yesterday from 'The Telegraph' wanting to photograph one of my homes for thier Saturday Home Magazine!! Very exciting - so stay tuned and I will share more when I can. The photo shoot is set for next Tuesday.

As if that wasn't enough excitement for one week when I get a phone call from 'House & Garden Magazine' today also wanting to photograph one of my homes!!! Oh my god!! I nearly fell over backwards. So fingers crossed we have the right interior for them. I'll have to come back to you on that one. Still uber exciting just to get a phonecall from them. They are a great magazine that I have subscribed to for many years.

Today's post is on accessorising bathrooms. I have had two queries from clients this week about how to accessorise thier bathroom and just jazz it up a bit. One of them has a new modern bathroom that is just a bit clinical for them, the other is a dated but charming Art Deco style with pedestal basin, art deco sconces and those big old fat crackle finish tiles. So here's the latest on decorating the bathroom.

A new trend that I have seen emerging is to decorate your bathroom with furniture items and treat it as just another room in your house that needs furnishing. This is fine if you have a large bathroom and room for that extra piece of furniture for va va voom. If your room is small then it's as easy as adding artworks, trays, vases, candles and coloured towels. Have a look at these images - hope you find some inspiration.

Maps

I'm loving Maps in interiors at the moment. I came across one of those huge Paris maps in separate frames recently at a trade show and fell in love with them all over again. Vintage maps with thier beautiful subdued colours look great in traditional or classical interiors. Whereas, a more recent, brightly coloured map is well suited to a modern interior. They are great in kids rooms and studies. You can either wallpaper your whole wall in a series of maps or have a massive custom mural made up as a feature wall. My favourite though are the framed vintage maps. I love thier subtle colours and texture - the crease lines and even little tears in them. Here's some lovely interiors featuring maps. Would you use them in your home?

Hi there, hope everyone had a great weekend. My son turned 2 last week, so we had a party for him on the weekend. So it was a mad rush of cake making, wrapping pass the parcel, making pin the hat on Woody and general cleaning up. Phew!! all over now and he had a lovely day - even if he was the only boy at his party. Ha ha.

Hi there, after Valentines Day this week I have been noticing lots of pink in fellow bloggers posts. So thought it would be a good idea to do a pink post. It's amazing how a pop of pink can really make a room sing. Most of these rooms only have 1 or 2 pink pieces, and that's all they need to make a beautiful statement. If your a pink fan, but not sure how to add it in to a living room or dining space that you need to share with the man in your life - maybe a pink egg chair is the answer!! Ha ha.

Make a Grand Entrance - part 1

Hi there, I'm thinking about entrance's today. There is nothing more welcoming than being greeted by a lovely console table, a mirror or artwork hung over. It's even better when you accessorise it with lamps, books, boxes and vases. I love the idea of 'padding out' a console table by adding matching stools or chairs either side for symmetry and just to lengthn the console. The chairs or stools then also become a great place to sit and put your shoes on before you walk out the door or throw your bag on when you come in. Hope you like these images below - some are quite simple and some very elaborate!! What do you have in your home?

The lamps bring Symmetry to this composition. I love the books and boxes - it's a very personal entry.

Animal Print

I am a huge Zebra print fan and have always been. Lately though I have been exploring other animal prints. Shagreen (Stingray) is a new favourite of mine. Faux Shagreen that is. Well actually I prefer all my animal prints to be faux - being an animal lover. Here's a few images featuring Shagreen, Ostrich, Giraffe, Tiger, Cheetah, Crocodile etc.

Hello, I seem to have collected an awful lot of dining room pictures lately. They are so fun to decorate - I love mixing and matching tables and chairs, adding a pendant light or chandelier. Rugs are also a great way to add personality, pattern and colour. All of the international designers I admire love to decorate their formal dining rooms with lots of colour and pattern. They believe in making a real statement in a room and why not amp up the wow factor in a room that you don't spend an awful lot of time in. It makes for great dinner conversation too. Do you agree?

Chinese Ceramic Stools

I'm in love with ceramic stools at the moment. They make the most lovely little side table or stool, bringing lustre, colour and personality into a room. They originated in China around 1000 years ago and were traditionally used in gardens. The antique versions of the stools that are still around tend to be from the late Ming Dynasty - early 17th century and later. They have a range of different decorations including fretwork and pierced motifs. One of the most common decorative effects is the nail head detail. This comes from old Chinese drums where the skins were stretched over a frame and held in place with nails.

They have become really popular in interiors over the last 50 or 60 years and it's not hard to see why. Take a look at these beautiful images featuring the humble ceramic garden stool.
