Funnels are an essential tool in digital marketing, designed to guide potential customers through the buying process. However, despite their importance, many funnels fail to deliver the desired results. In this blog post, we’ll explore why funnels fail and provide actionable strategies to optimize them for success.

The Importance of Funnels

Funnels are structured pathways that lead prospects from initial awareness to the final purchase. They help in managing and nurturing leads, ultimately converting them into paying customers. The structure typically includes stages such as awareness, interest, decision, and action. However, even well-designed funnels can fail if not properly executed or optimized.

Common Reasons Why Funnels Fail

Lack of Testing and Measurement

One of the most common reasons funnels fail is the lack of testing and measurement. Marketers often set up a funnel and expect it to work flawlessly without monitoring its performance and making necessary adjustments.

Example: If you create a funnel for a new product but don’t track metrics like click-through rates (CTR), conversion rates, and bounce rates, you won’t know which parts of the funnel are underperforming or why.

Solution: Continuous Testing and Optimization

Regularly test different components of your funnel, such as headlines, CTAs, and landing pages. Use A/B testing to compare variations and determine which performs better. Continuously monitor your metrics and make data-driven decisions to optimize your funnel.

Example: Implement A/B testing for your landing page headlines. Track which headline generates more leads and use the data to refine your strategy.

Misalignment Between Funnel and Audience

Another reason funnels fail is misalignment between the funnel content and the target audience. If the messaging, tone, or offers don’t resonate with your audience, they won’t engage or convert.

Example: A funnel targeting young professionals might fail if the language used is too formal or the offers don’t address their specific needs.

Solution: Know Your Audience

Conduct thorough market research to understand your audience’s preferences, pain points, and behaviors. Tailor your funnel content to align with their needs and interests.

Example: Use surveys and social media polls to gather insights about your audience. Adjust your funnel messaging and offers based on the feedback received.

Overcomplicated Funnels

While it’s important to provide value and nurture leads, overcomplicating your funnel with too many steps or intricate processes can overwhelm prospects and cause them to drop off.

Example: A funnel with multiple opt-in forms, upsells, downsells, and cross-sells might confuse and frustrate potential customers.

Solution: Simplify Your Funnel

Start with a simple funnel and gradually add complexity as needed. Focus on creating a seamless and intuitive experience for your prospects.

Example: Begin with a straightforward funnel that includes a landing page, an opt-in form, and a thank-you page. Once you see consistent performance, consider adding additional steps like email sequences or upsells.

Case Study: A Successful Funnel Optimization

Let’s explore a real-world example of how optimizing a simple funnel led to remarkable results.

Scenario: A client needed a last-minute sales page for a niche market Christmas offer. Due to time constraints, there was no time to set up a full funnel.

Strategy:

Create a Basic Sales Page: The sales page was straightforward and focused solely on the offer.

Promote via Social Media: The page was promoted directly through social media posts.

Measure and Optimize: The campaign was monitored, and key metrics were tracked.

Results: The sales page converted at an impressive 11%, significantly higher than the typical 2% conversion rate for sales pages integrated into full funnels. The success was attributed to the simplicity of the offer, the niche market focus, and the urgency created by the limited-time Christmas special.

Optimization: The strategy was further optimized by turning the offer into an evergreen campaign with a time-limited availability from the opt-in date. This maintained the urgency and consistently achieved an 11% conversion rate throughout the year.

Strategies to Optimize Your Funnel

Focus on High-Converting Elements

Identify and prioritize the high-converting elements of your funnel. This could include compelling headlines, strong CTAs, and visually appealing landing pages.

Example: If your email sequence has a high open rate but low click-through rate, focus on improving your email content and CTAs to drive more clicks.

Leverage Social Proof

Incorporate testimonials, case studies, and reviews to build trust and credibility. Social proof can significantly influence prospects’ decisions and increase conversion rates.

Example: Feature customer testimonials on your landing page and sales page to showcase the positive experiences of past clients.

Create a Sense of Urgency

Use limited-time offers and countdown timers to create a sense of urgency. This encourages prospects to take immediate action rather than delaying their decision.

Example: Implement a countdown timer on your sales page indicating the limited time left to take advantage of a special discount.

Optimize for Mobile

Ensure your funnel is fully optimized for mobile devices. With a growing number of users accessing content via smartphones, a mobile-friendly experience is crucial.

Example: Test your funnel on various mobile devices to ensure it loads quickly, is easy to navigate, and provides a seamless user experience.

Personalize Your Funnel

Personalize your funnel content based on user behavior and preferences. Tailored experiences can significantly improve engagement and conversion rates.

Example: Use dynamic content to display personalized product recommendations based on a user’s previous interactions with your site.

Turning Failures into Success

Funnels fail for various reasons, but with the right strategies, you can optimize them for success. By continuously testing and measuring, aligning your funnel with your audience, simplifying the process, focusing on high-converting elements, leveraging social proof, creating urgency, optimizing for mobile, and personalizing content, you can significantly improve your funnel’s performance.

Remember, the key to a successful funnel is not to throw in the towel at the first sign of failure but to identify the leaks, plug them, and iterate based on data-driven insights. By doing so, you’ll be able to create high-converting funnels that drive consistent results.

Optimizing your order page is crucial for maximizing sales and ensuring that your funnel is converting as effectively as possible. A well-designed order page can significantly increase your conversion rates, turning more visitors into paying customers. In this blog post, we’ll explore seven proven strategies to enhance your order page and drive more sales.

1. Include Testimonials

Testimonials are powerful tools for building trust and credibility. When potential customers are on your order page, they are often looking for reassurance that they are making the right decision. Including a couple of short, impactful testimonials can provide that reassurance.

Why Testimonials Work

Testimonials offer social proof, showing that others have successfully used and benefited from your product or service. This can alleviate doubts and increase confidence in the purchase decision.

Example: If you have testimonials from well-known figures or highly satisfied customers, feature them prominently on your order page. Even short snippets can be incredibly effective.

How to Use Testimonials

Keep It Short: Choose brief, powerful testimonials that can be quickly read and absorbed.

Highlight Notable Names: If you have endorsements from recognized individuals, make sure to feature these prominently.

Use Real Photos: Adding photos of the people giving testimonials can make them more believable and relatable.

2. Add Security Symbols

With increasing concerns about online security, many customers are hesitant to enter their credit card information on unfamiliar websites. Adding security symbols near your buy button can help ease these concerns.

The Role of Security Symbols

Security symbols indicate that your website is secure and that their payment information will be protected. This can be particularly important for first-time customers who are unfamiliar with your brand.

Example: Common security symbols include SSL certificates, trusted payment icons (like Visa, MasterCard, PayPal), and badges from security companies like Norton or McAfee.

How to Implement Security Symbols

Place Near the Buy Button: Ensure that security symbols are placed close to the buy button where they can be easily seen.

Use Recognizable Icons: Choose well-known and widely recognized security badges to maximize their impact.

3. Provide Visuals of the Offer

Visual representation of your product or service can make it feel more tangible and real to potential buyers. This can help bridge the gap between digital and physical products, making it easier for customers to understand what they are purchasing.

Why Visuals Are Important

Visuals help customers visualize what they are buying, which can increase their perceived value of the product. This is especially true for digital products, which can sometimes seem abstract.

Example: If you’re offering an online course, include images of the course interface, downloadable PDFs, video thumbnails, and any other materials that come with the course.

How to Use Visuals

Create a Mockup: Design a mockup of your product that includes all components of the offer.

Use High-Quality Images: Ensure that all visuals are high-resolution and professionally designed.

Showcase Key Features: Highlight the most important aspects of the product visually.

4. Include a Video

A short video can significantly enhance your order page by providing a personal touch and additional information about the product. Videos can engage visitors and provide a more comprehensive understanding of what they are purchasing.

The Impact of Videos

Videos can convey emotion, build a connection with the viewer, and explain complex concepts more effectively than text alone. They can also serve as a final push to convince hesitant buyers.

Example: Include a video of yourself explaining the benefits of the product, detailing what customers will receive, and sharing any relevant testimonials.

How to Use Videos

Keep It Short: Aim for a video that is 1-2 minutes long. Keep it concise and focused on the key benefits.

Be Personable: Show your face and speak directly to the camera to create a personal connection.

Include Testimonials: If possible, incorporate short video testimonials from satisfied customers.

5. List What They’re Getting

Providing a clear, concise list of what the customer will receive can help reinforce the value of the offer. Bullet points can be particularly effective for summarizing the key components and benefits of the product.

The Power of Bullet Points

Bullet points make information easy to scan and digest. They can quickly communicate the value of the offer and ensure that nothing important is overlooked.

Example: If you’re selling a software subscription, list features like “24/7 customer support,” “access to premium features,” and “regular updates.”

How to Use Bullet Points

Be Specific: Clearly outline what the customer will receive, avoiding vague or ambiguous language.

Highlight Key Benefits: Focus on the most important and attractive aspects of the offer.

Keep It Simple: Avoid overloading the list with too many items. Focus on the top 5-7 points.

6. Use a Countdown Timer

Adding a countdown timer to your order page can create a sense of urgency and encourage visitors to take immediate action. This can be particularly effective for limited-time offers or promotions.

Why Countdown Timers Work

Countdown timers tap into the psychological principle of scarcity. When people perceive that an opportunity is limited, they are more likely to act quickly to avoid missing out.

Example: Use a countdown timer to highlight a special discount that expires in a few hours or days.

How to Implement Countdown Timers

Make It Visible: Place the timer near the top of the page where it can’t be missed.

Tie It to a Specific Offer: Ensure that the timer is linked to a genuine limited-time offer.

Be Honest: Avoid using fake urgency. Only use countdown timers for actual time-sensitive offers.

7. Test Your Order Page

Finally, always test your order page to ensure everything is functioning correctly. Testing can help identify any issues that might be preventing conversions and ensure a smooth buying process for your customers.

The Importance of Testing

Regular testing can help you catch errors, optimize performance, and ensure that your page is user-friendly. It can also provide valuable insights into what works and what doesn’t.

Example: Test different elements of your page, such as headlines, images, and call-to-action buttons, to see what drives the highest conversion rates.

How to Test Your Order Page

Conduct A/B Testing: Create two versions of your order page and test them against each other to see which performs better.

Check for Errors: Ensure that all links, buttons, and forms are working correctly.

Optimize for Speed: Make sure your page loads quickly to avoid losing impatient visitors.

Test on Multiple Devices: Ensure that your page looks and functions well on both desktop and mobile devices.

Maximizing Conversions on Your Order Page

Improving your order page can have a significant impact on your overall conversion rates and sales. By incorporating testimonials, adding security symbols, providing visuals of the offer, including a video, listing what the customer will receive, using a countdown timer, and regularly testing your page, you can create a compelling and effective order page.

Remember, the goal is to make the buying process as smooth and reassuring as possible for your customers. When visitors feel confident and informed, they are more likely to complete their purchase.

7 Keys To Online Course Profits

Creating and selling an online course profits can be a highly profitable venture, but it requires careful planning and validation to ensure success. Without proper validation, you risk spending countless hours on course creation, only to find that there is no market for your product. In this blog post, we will explore the seven key steps to validating your online course offer, ensuring that you build a course that sells and provides value to your audience.

Why Validating Your Offer is Crucial

Before diving into the seven steps, it’s important to understand why validating your offer is crucial. Many people jump into course creation without considering whether there is a demand for their content. This approach is like throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping it sticks. By validating your offer, you can ensure that there is a market for your course, saving you time and resources in the long run.

The 7 Steps to Validate Your Online Course Offer

1. Is It Something You’re Knowledgeable About?

The first step in validating your course offer is to ensure that it is a topic you are knowledgeable about. Over the years, many have tried to create courses based on second-hand knowledge, often leading to less profitable outcomes. If you are creating a course on a subject that is second nature to you, your expertise will naturally shine through, making the content more valuable to your audience.

Action Tip: Reflect on your areas of expertise and consider topics that you are passionate about and knowledgeable in. Remember, your target audience is likely a few steps behind you and can greatly benefit from your experience.

2. What is Your Delivery Jam?

The second step involves identifying your “delivery jam,” or the method of content delivery that feels most natural to you. Whether it’s creating videos, writing, speaking on stage, or using slides, choose a delivery method that aligns with your strengths and preferences. This will make the content creation process more enjoyable and sustainable for you.

Action Tip: Experiment with different delivery methods to find the one that suits you best. Consider recording a few short videos, writing blog posts, or delivering a live presentation to see which method feels most comfortable.

3. Is It Leveraged?

Leverage is about maximizing your impact without increasing your time commitment. One-on-one coaching is valuable but limits the number of people you can help. Instead, consider group coaching, Q&A calls, or a course format that allows you to reach a larger audience without significantly increasing your workload.

Action Tip: Design your course in a way that allows for scalability. This could include group coaching sessions, pre-recorded content, or an online community where participants can support each other.

4. What Will People Pay For?

To ensure profitability, your course must address a problem that people are willing to pay to solve. Identify your target audience and understand their pain points and willingness to invest in a solution. Courses that provide a clear return on investment are more likely to be successful.

Action Tip: Conduct market research to understand what your target audience is struggling with and what solutions they are currently investing in. Tailor your course offer to meet these needs.

5. What is Your Audience’s Delivery Jam?

Understanding how your audience prefers to consume content is crucial for engagement and retention. Some may prefer video content, while others might favor audio or written formats. Consider the context in which your audience will engage with your course and tailor your content delivery accordingly.

Action Tip: Survey your audience or analyze feedback from previous content to determine their preferred learning methods. Adjust your course format to align with these preferences.

6. Is It Recession Proof?

In uncertain economic times, it’s important to ensure that your course is recession-proof. This means creating offers that are valuable regardless of the economic climate. Targeting audiences with disposable income or structuring your pricing in a way that feels affordable can help maintain course sales during economic downturns.

Action Tip: Consider offering flexible payment plans, financing options, or tiered pricing to make your course accessible to a wider audience, even during tough economic times.

7. Does It Solve a Problem?

The final and most important step is ensuring that your course solves a real problem for your audience. People are more likely to invest in a course that addresses a significant pain point or helps them achieve a specific goal. Clearly defining the problem and positioning your course as the solution will make it an irresistible offer.

Action Tip: Clearly articulate the problem your course solves and the outcomes participants can expect. Use testimonials, case studies, and real-world examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of your solution.

Practical Application: Putting the 7 Steps into Action

To illustrate how these steps can be applied, let’s consider a real-world example. Suppose you are an expert in digital marketing and want to create a course on social media strategies for small businesses.

Step 1: Expertise

You have years of experience in digital marketing and a proven track record of helping small businesses grow their online presence.

Step 2: Delivery Jam

You enjoy creating video content and feel confident speaking on camera. You decide to deliver your course through a series of video tutorials.

Step 3: Leverage

To reach a larger audience, you include weekly group coaching sessions and a private Facebook group where participants can ask questions and share their progress.

Step 4: Market Demand

Through market research, you find that small business owners are struggling with social media marketing and are willing to invest in learning effective strategies.

Step 5: Audience Preferences

You survey your audience and discover that they prefer video content they can watch in short, manageable segments. You structure your course accordingly.

Step 6: Recession Proofing

You offer flexible payment plans and a money-back guarantee to make your course accessible and reduce the perceived financial risk.

Step 7: Problem Solving

You clearly define the problem—small businesses struggling to build a strong social media presence—and position your course as the comprehensive solution.

The Path to Online Course Profits

Validating your online course profit offer through these seven steps is crucial for building a profitable and impactful course.
Welcome to another episode of the Phunnel Podcast with Jody Jelas. Today, we’re diving into a particular kind of funnel that can transform your webinar strategy: the 3-Sided Webinar Funnel on Steroids. This approach enhances traditional webinars by engaging audiences in multiple ways, ensuring they stay tuned in, and ultimately driving higher conversion rates. If you’ve ever struggled with webinars, this guide is for you.

Why Traditional Webinars May Not Work

Let’s start with an honest admission: many people, including myself, often find webinars long and difficult to sit through, especially with a short attention span. Despite this, webinars remain a popular and effective tool for many. For those who excel in webinars, like my friend Victoria Gibson, it’s a powerful revenue generator. However, for those of us who prefer different methods, the challenge is finding a way to make webinars work better.

Introducing the 3-Sided Webinar Funnel

The 3-Sided Webinar Funnel, also known as the Webinar on Steroids, is a method designed to address the common pitfalls of traditional webinars. This approach involves creating a high-engagement, multi-faceted funnel that caters to different content consumption preferences. Let’s break down the ten steps to building this powerful funnel.

Understanding Your Traffic Source

The first step is to know where your traffic is coming from. Whether it’s Facebook ads, Google ads, TikTok ads, organic social media, or your email list, understanding your traffic sources helps tailor your funnel to your audience’s needs. If your traffic is coming from cold ads, you’ll need to build a funnel that caters to people who don’t yet know you.

Action Tip: Analyze your traffic sources and segment your audience based on their familiarity with your brand. Tailor your funnel to meet the needs of both cold and warm audiences.

Optimizing the Webinar Content

It’s essential to design your webinar to fit your audience’s preferences. While 60-90 minute webinars are common, shorter 30-minute webinars can be just as effective. The key is to deliver content in a way that feels authentic and engaging.

Example: One client with a $12,000 offer used live demonstrations instead of slides, mimicking an in-person event. This approach led to high conversions because it felt genuine and interactive.

Action Tip: Choose a presentation style that aligns with your brand and resonates with your audience. Use a mix of slides, videos, and live demonstrations to keep the content dynamic.

Legitimate Scarcity and Urgency

Creating genuine scarcity and urgency can drive conversions. Whether it’s a limited number of spots available or a strict deadline for sign-ups, make sure these elements are real and enforceable.

Example: For our Course Machine.IO, we have a limited number of done-for-you spots available each month due to team capacity. This legitimate scarcity encourages timely sign-ups.

Action Tip: Clearly communicate the limited availability of your offer. Use countdown timers and reminders to reinforce the urgency.

The 48-Hour Replay Strategy

Offering a 48-hour replay for your webinar can boost engagement and conversions. However, it’s crucial to stick to this timeframe. If you promise a 48-hour replay, make sure it’s only available for that period.

Action Tip: Set up automated systems that track when a user first visits the replay page and redirect them once the 48-hour period ends. This maintains the integrity of your scarcity tactic.

Instant Access to Purchases

Ensure that your audience receives immediate access to the product or service they purchase from your webinar. If there is a delay, provide them with pre-work or immediate value to maintain their excitement and momentum.

Action Tip: Create an onboarding process that gives new customers instant access to valuable content or a community area where they can start engaging right away.

Leveraging Chat Bots

Chat bots can mirror your email sequences and provide a seamless, interactive experience for your audience. This reduces the need for phone calls and allows for real-time engagement.

Action Tip: Set up chat bots to handle common inquiries and guide users through the buying process. Ensure that the bot conversations align with your email campaigns for a cohesive experience.

Creating a Highlight Reel

Not everyone has the time to watch a full webinar. Create a 10-minute highlight reel that captures the most compelling parts of your webinar. This can entice those who missed the live event to check out the replay or directly visit the offer page.

Action Tip: Distribute the highlight reel through emails, chat bots, and social media ads. Include a strong call-to-action at the end directing viewers to your offer.

Providing Audio Versions

For those always on the go, offering an audio version of your webinar can be a game-changer. This caters to busy professionals who prefer listening over watching.

Action Tip: Convert your webinar into a podcast-style audio file. Promote it via email and chat bots, and include it in your webinar follow-up sequence.

Printable Guides

Surprisingly, printable guides are highly effective in driving conversions. They cater to individuals who prefer tangible materials that they can annotate and review at their own pace.

Action Tip: Create a comprehensive PDF guide summarizing your webinar content. Include it in your follow-up emails and make it easy to download from your website.

Multi-Modal Content Delivery

Delivering content in multiple modalities ensures that you meet the diverse preferences of your audience. Combining video, audio, and print not only increases engagement but also boosts conversion rates.

Action Tip: Use video for visual learners, audio for those on the move, and printable guides for those who like detailed notes. This comprehensive approach ensures no segment of your audience is left out.

Implementing the 3-Sided Webinar Funnel

To illustrate how these steps can be applied, let’s consider a practical example. Suppose you are an expert in digital marketing and want to create a 3-Sided Webinar Funnel for your course on social media strategies for small businesses.

Traffic Sources

Use Facebook and Google ads to attract cold traffic.
Leverage your email list for warm traffic.

Webinar Content

Create a 60-minute webinar with live demonstrations and engaging slides.

Scarcity and Urgency

Offer a limited number of spots for one-on-one coaching sessions.

48-Hour Replay

Set up an automated system to ensure the replay is only available for 48 hours.

Instant Access

Provide immediate access to a resource library upon purchase.

Chat Bots

Use chat bots to answer common questions and guide users through the buying process.

Highlight Reel

Create a 10-minute highlight reel of the most impactful moments from your webinar.

Audio Version

Offer an audio version of your webinar for users to listen to on the go.

Printable Guide

Develop a detailed PDF guide summarizing your webinar content.

Multi-Modal Delivery

Promote your content through various channels, ensuring wide reach and engagement.

Supercharging Your Webinar Funnel

The 3-Sided Webinar Funnel on Steroids is a powerful strategy that combines pre-webinar engagement, a compelling live webinar experience, and effective post-webinar follow-up to maximize conversions and revenue. By implementing these strategies and continuously optimizing your funnel, you can create a seamless and effective customer journey that drives results.

Welcome to episode three of the Phunnel Podcast with Jody Jelas. Today, we’re diving into the true cost of DIY (Do It Yourself) projects, especially in business. While the allure of saving money by handling tasks yourself is strong, it often comes with hidden costs that can drain your time, energy, and finances. In this blog post, we’ll explore these hidden cost of DIY and why hiring professionals might be a more cost-effective and efficient choice.

The Allure and Reality of DIY

Many entrepreneurs, particularly those just starting out, choose the DIY route to save money. They believe that handling everything themselves, from building sales funnels to marketing and administrative tasks, is the best way to manage a tight budget. I completely understand this approach; it’s how I started my business when I was 21. However, over the years, I learned that the apparent savings of DIY can come at a significant cost.

The Hidden Cost of DIY

Time Investment

One of the most significant hidden costs of DIY is the time it consumes. Tasks that fall outside your natural flow or expertise can drain your energy and productivity. For example, if you’re a creative person forced to handle detailed coding, it can feel like your soul is being sucked out. This diversion from your strengths can make you less productive in areas where you excel.

Example: When I first started building websites, I did everything myself—coding, design, marketing, sales. While I could handle it, the detailed work drained my energy. Once I hired others to handle those tasks, I found I was far more productive and energetic, as if I had gained an extra 20 hours a week.

Energy Drain

Tasks that you don’t enjoy or aren’t good at can significantly drain your energy. This energy drain can make you feel like you dislike your business, leading to burnout and decreased productivity.

Example: I once worked long hours on tasks I didn’t enjoy, to the point where my water broke at my desk while I was pregnant. I stayed at my desk to finish websites for clients, sacrificing my well-being. This experience taught me the importance of focusing on tasks that energize me and delegating those that don’t.

The ADD Method: Automate, Delegate, Delete

To manage your time and energy effectively, I developed the ADD method: Automate, Delegate, Delete. Here’s how it works:

Automate: Use tools and software to automate repetitive tasks.

Delegate: Hire contractors or team members to handle tasks outside your expertise.

Delete: Eliminate tasks that don’t add value or move your business forward.

Action Tip: Track your tasks for a week. Categorize them into tasks you love and tasks you hate. Focus on automating, delegating, or deleting the tasks you dislike.

The Financial Cost of DIY

While DIY may seem cheaper upfront, it often leads to hidden financial costs. Consider the example of building a sales funnel for a $1,000 course. If it takes you six weeks to build the funnel, that’s six weeks of potential sales lost. At ten sales a week, you’re losing $60,000 in potential revenue.

Example: Hiring professionals like us at Phunnel Builders can reduce this time to two weeks. Even if we charge $10,000, you’re still making $40,000 more than if you did it yourself. This calculation shows the financial benefit of outsourcing to experts.

The Cost of Trust Issues

Some people DIY because they’ve been burned by outsourcing before. They worry about trust and quality. To address this, we at Phunnel Builders offer safeguards like providing a detailed strategy and funnel map before starting a project. This builds trust and ensures we’re aligned with our clients’ goals.

Action Tip: When hiring professionals, ensure they provide a clear strategy and demonstrate their expertise. Look for companies with a track record and positive client feedback.

Practical Application: Implementing the ADD Method

To illustrate how these steps can be applied, let’s consider a real-world example. Suppose you are an expert in digital marketing and want to create a 3-Sided Webinar Funnel for your course on social media strategies for small businesses.

Automate: Use tools to automate email sequences and social media posts.

Delegate: Hire a VA to handle customer inquiries and support.

Delete: Eliminate tasks that don’t add value, like spending time on less effective social media platforms.

The True Cost of DIY

While DIY projects can offer cost savings and personal satisfaction, it’s important to be aware of the hidden costs and potential drawbacks. Time investment, lack of expertise, cost of tools and materials, quality of work, and safety risks can all add up, making DIY more expensive than initially anticipated.

By carefully considering the complexity of the project, your own skills, time availability, and budget, you can make an informed decision about whether to tackle a project yourself or hire a professional. In many cases, investing in professional services can save time, money, and stress in the long run.

Welcome to episode two of the Phunnel Podcast with Jody Jelas. Today, we’re diving into a fascinating topic on how to create a real book with AI in just 24 hours. This might seem like a daunting task, but with the right tools and strategies, it’s entirely possible. Before we delve into the steps, let’s explore why creating a book can be a powerful marketing tool and how it enhances your funnel strategy.

Why Create a Book?

Books are a tangible asset that can significantly boost your credibility and help build relationships with your audience. When you offer a book through your funnel, it not only provides valuable content but also creates a psychological connection with your audience. The act of holding a physical book builds trust and makes your audience more likely to engage with your other offerings.

Example: Imagine telling a potential client that you’ll send them a book, and all they have to do is pay for shipping. When the book arrives at their door, along with a well-crafted email sequence, they already feel a stronger connection to you and your brand.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Create a Real Book with AI

Now, let’s walk through the steps to create a real book with AI, from start to finish. This process is not only efficient but also ensures that you produce high-quality content that resonates with your audience.

Step 1: Choose Your Topic and Title

The first step is to select a topic that aligns with your business and resonates with your audience. This involves some research to understand what your audience needs and what problems you can solve for them.

Action Tip: Use tools like Google Analytics, Google Keyword Research, or other keyword research tools to identify popular topics and trigger words in your industry. These insights will help you choose a compelling topic and title for your book.

Example: For my dad’s book, I researched keywords related to personal growth and coaching, which are relevant to his work as a Proctor Gallagher coach.

Step 2: Generate Book Titles with AI

Once you have your topic, use AI to generate potential book titles. Tools like ChatGPT can help you brainstorm and refine titles based on your keywords.

Action Tip: Prompt ChatGPT to give you 10 book titles and subtitles related to your topic. Review the suggestions, select your favorites, and ask for variations if needed. This process will help you land on a title that stands out and attracts your target audience.

Example: For my dad’s book, we combined elements from different AI-generated titles to create a compelling and relevant title that resonated with his audience.

Step 3: Repurpose Existing Content

Creating a book doesn’t always mean starting from scratch. Repurposing existing content can save time and ensure quality. This could include video transcripts, email sequences, blog posts, or any other content you’ve already created.

Action Tip: Gather all relevant content and organize it. For video content, use transcription services like Rev.com to convert your videos into text. For email sequences, extract the most valuable messages.

Example: My dad had over 500 pre-written emails, which we used to create his book. We selected the best 300 emails, removed any call-to-action links, and organized them into daily inspirational messages.

Step 4: Edit and Polish Your Content

Quality is key when creating a book. Use tools like Grammarly to check for grammar and plagiarism, ensuring your content is polished and original. This step is crucial to maintain credibility and avoid any issues with publishing platforms like Amazon.

Action Tip: Have someone else review your content for a fresh perspective. An editor can help refine your content, making sure it flows well and is error-free.

Example: We ran my dad’s emails through Grammarly and made minor tweaks to ensure they were ready for publication. This included removing call-to-actions and adjusting the text to fit the book format.

Step 5: Design Your Book Cover

A captivating cover is essential for attracting readers. Use tools like Canva or MidJourney to create a unique and professional-looking cover. Make sure your design follows the guidelines provided by your chosen publishing platform.

Action Tip: Use AI tools like MidJourney to create unique graphics. Combine these with your design skills in Canva or Photoshop to produce a cover that stands out.

Example: I used MidJourney to create a brain graphic representing the subconscious and conscious mind. I then refined the design in Photoshop to ensure it met Amazon’s specifications.

Step 6: Layout and Formatting

Proper formatting is crucial for both print and digital versions of your book. Use templates and guidelines provided by publishing platforms like Amazon to ensure your book looks professional.

Action Tip: If you’re short on time, consider hiring a professional on platforms like Fiverr to format your book. This ensures a polished final product and saves you the hassle of learning complex formatting rules.

Example: I hired someone on Fiverr to format my dad’s book, ensuring it was ready for print. This cost about $400 due to the tight deadline but was worth the investment for a high-quality result.

Step 7: Self-Publish Your Book

Once your book is formatted and ready, it’s time to publish. Platforms like Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) make it easy to self-publish your book and reach a global audience. They also provide ISBN numbers and handle distribution.

Action Tip: Follow Amazon’s guidelines for uploading and publishing your book. Make sure to set up your book’s metadata correctly to enhance discoverability.

Example: We published my dad’s book on Amazon, which provided the ISBN number and handled the printing and distribution. The process was quick, and the quality matched that of a local printer.

The Importance of a Strong Funnel Strategy

A book is more than just a standalone product; it’s an integral part of your marketing funnel. It serves as a glorified business card that people don’t throw away. To maximize its impact, integrate your book into a well-crafted funnel.

Action Tip: Include call-to-actions in your book that lead readers to additional resources, quizzes, or consultations. This helps build your email list and deepens the relationship with your audience.

Example: My dad’s book includes multiple call-to-actions that direct readers to his website for additional resources and quizzes. This not only enhances engagement but also funnels readers into his coaching programs.

The Power of AI in Book Creation

Understanding on how to create a real book with AI is not only feasible but also highly efficient. By following these steps, you can produce a high-quality book that enhances your credibility, builds relationships, and integrates seamlessly into your marketing funnel.

Traffic: Lifeblood of Your Funnel

Metrics: Your True North

The Delivery Jam: Aligning Your Style with Success

Your unique style sets the tone for success. Crafting your business around your lifestyle and sharing your genius in a way that resonates with your audience is crucial. Are you a performer at heart, or a visual storyteller? Tailor your delivery to match your audience’s preferences and ignite action.

Example: I have a friend who thrives on stage. She feels in her element performing in front of a live audience. For her, creating an online course meant recording her sessions on stage, staying in her flow, and delivering her content in the most natural way possible. On the other hand, I prefer delivering content via video, where I can control the environment and speak directly to the camera. Your delivery method should feel natural and energize you rather than drain you.

Action Tip: Determine your delivery jam by identifying how you best express your ideas and knowledge. Whether it’s through writing, videos, live performances, or another medium, choose what aligns with your strengths and stick to it.

Dive into Their Psychology: Understanding Your Audience

Understanding your audience’s psychology is paramount. Get inside their heads and understand their decision-making process. Craft your funnel to lead them from pain to pleasure, trigger emotions, and make your offer an irresistible no-brainer.

Example: If your audience consists of busy parents, they might prefer consuming content through audio while driving or through short, digestible video clips. Knowing this, you can tailor your content delivery to fit their lifestyle, making it easier for them to engage with your material.

Action Tip: Develop a detailed avatar of your ideal customer. Understand their pain points, desires, and decision-making processes. Use this knowledge to craft your messaging and offers in a way that resonates deeply with them.

High Converting Funnels: Simplicity and Mastery

Less is more when it comes to high converting funnels. Mastering two carefully crafted funnels ensures they flow seamlessly like a well-oiled machine. Metrics are your compass on this journey of continuous improvement.

Example: Instead of creating multiple funnels simultaneously, focus on perfecting one or two funnels. Test and optimize them until they perform at their best. Once these funnels are running smoothly, consider expanding to additional funnels.

Action Tip: Start with a simple lead magnet funnel and a sales funnel. Focus on driving traffic, measuring performance, and making iterative improvements. Keep things simple and scalable.

Traffic: Lifeblood of Your Funnel

Funnel success demands eyeballs! Explore Google, Facebook, or even TikTok ads to flood your masterpiece with eager eyes. Focus on conquering one or two social media platforms and consider referrals and joint ventures for added impact.

Example: If you’re new to paid advertising, start with Facebook ads to drive traffic to your funnel. As you gain more experience and data, you can expand to other platforms like Google Ads or TikTok.

Action Tip: Identify the best platforms to reach your target audience. Invest in learning and mastering these platforms to drive quality traffic to your funnels. Additionally, build relationships with other businesses for joint ventures and referral partnerships.

Metrics: Your True North

Imagine your funnel as a slot machine—tracking metrics is the key to unlocking continuous success. These numbers are your treasure map to untapped riches.

Example: Track metrics such as conversion rates, click-through rates, and average order value. Use this data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. Regularly reviewing these metrics helps you make informed decisions and optimize your funnel performance.

Action Tip: Set up a comprehensive tracking system for your funnel metrics. Use tools like Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and CRM software to gather and analyze data. Make data-driven decisions to continually improve your funnel’s effectiveness.

Practical Application: Building Your High Converting Funnel

Let’s put these pillars into practice with a real-world example. Suppose you are an expert in digital marketing and want to create a high-converting funnel for your course on social media strategies for small businesses.

Step 1: The Delivery Jam

Choose video as your primary content delivery method, as it aligns with your strength in visual storytelling.

Step 2: Dive into Their Psychology

Develop an avatar for busy small business owners who need efficient and practical marketing strategies. Tailor your messaging to address their pain points and aspirations.

Step 3: Simplicity and Mastery

Start with a lead magnet funnel offering a free eBook on social media tips. Follow up with a sales funnel promoting your comprehensive course.

Step 4: Traffic

Use Facebook ads to drive traffic to your lead magnet funnel. Leverage your email list and social media channels for additional traffic sources.

Step 5: Metrics

Track key metrics such as email opt-in rates, webinar attendance rates, and course purchase conversion rates. Use this data to optimize each stage of your funnel.

Mastering the Art of High Converting Funnels

The five pillars of high converting funnels—Delivery Jam, Audience Psychology, Simplicity and Mastery, Traffic, and Metrics—are timeless strategies that can transform your funnel performance. By understanding and implementing these principles, you can create funnels that not only attract and engage your audience but also drive consistent and significant conversions.

Remember, the foundation of a successful funnel lies in aligning your delivery with your strengths, deeply understanding your audience, keeping your funnels simple yet effective, driving targeted traffic, and constantly monitoring and optimizing your metrics. These pillars have stood the test of time and continue to be relevant in today’s ever-evolving digital landscape.

Creating video content can be a powerful tool for engaging with your audience, building your brand, and driving conversions. However, the process of scripting, filming, and editing videos can be time-consuming and inefficient if not approached strategically. In this post, I’ll share insights on how to streamline your video content creation by understanding and leveraging your different working modes. This approach will help you produce high-quality videos more efficiently, allowing you to focus on what you do best.

The Importance of Understanding Your Working Modes

All of us have different modes that we work best in. For me, I’m creative and I struggle with detail-oriented tasks. If I have to switch from a detailed task to a creative one, it disrupts my flow and productivity. Similarly, if I’m in creative mode and then need to switch to a detailed task, it won’t work seamlessly. Therefore, one way to be extremely time-efficient when filming your video blogs or any type of video is to not mix your modes.

The Different Modes in Video Content Creation

Scripting Mode: The Creative Phase

When you’re in scripting mode and writing the content you want to include in your blog videos, you’re in a creative phase. This is when you brainstorm content ideas, structure your script, and craft your message. It’s a time to let your creativity flow without being bogged down by technical details or setup concerns.

Action Tip: Dedicate a day solely to creating and refining your scripts. This focused time will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the creative process and produce more compelling content.

Example: I usually take a full day to write and refine my scripts. I find that sleeping on my ideas helps solidify them in my subconscious, making the delivery smoother when I film the next day.

Filming Mode: The Performance Phase

Once your script is ready, the next mode is filming. This is a performance phase where you deliver the content you’ve scripted. Filming requires energy, focus, and presence. Trying to manage technical details while filming can dilute your performance and reduce the quality of your delivery.

Action Tip: Separate your filming day from your scripting day. Focus solely on delivering your content naturally on camera without worrying about technical setup.

Example: I never script and film on the same day. By giving myself time to sleep on the script, I find my delivery more natural and confident.

Setup Mode: The Technical Phase

Setting up your filming gear—lighting, sound, and camera—is a detailed, technical task. It requires a different mindset than scripting or filming. Mixing this mode with others can be overwhelming and counterproductive.

Action Tip: If possible, delegate the setup to someone else. This allows you to concentrate on delivering your content without distraction.

Example: When I film, I have a team of four people handling the setup. They manage the technical aspects, keeping the energy in the room positive and allowing me to focus entirely on my delivery.

Benefits of Not Mixing Modes

By dedicating specific days to each mode—scripting, filming, and setup—you can enhance the quality of your video content and streamline your production process. This approach not only makes the process more efficient but also ensures that each phase receives the attention it needs.

Tools and Strategies to Enhance Efficiency

Automate and Delegate

After 20 years in coaching and online strategy, I’ve found that using the right tools can significantly enhance efficiency. Kartra, for instance, is the best program I’ve used in my career. After six years with ClickFunnels and InfusionSoft, I made the switch and haven’t looked back. Kartra’s all-in-one platform allows for seamless integration of various tasks, from email marketing to sales funnel creation.

Action Tip: Utilize tools that streamline your workflow and consider delegating tasks that fall outside your core strengths. This will free up your time to focus on content creation and delivery.

Example: In my program, The Video Code, we provide numerous tips and an entire strategy for building your audience online and converting them into buyers. By leveraging automation and delegation, you can achieve more with less effort.

Real-World Application: The Video Code Program

In my program, The Video Code, we delve deep into strategies for creating efficient and effective video content. The program includes tips like the ones shared here, along with a comprehensive strategy to build your online audience and convert them into loyal customers.

Example: We offer free training on how to profit from video blogging, covering everything from content creation to audience engagement. You can find this training here.

Embrace Your Modes for Greater Efficiency

Understanding and embracing your different working modes can transform your video content creation process. By separating scripting, filming, and setup tasks, you can enhance your productivity, reduce stress, and produce higher-quality videos. This approach allows you to focus on your strengths, deliver compelling content, and connect more effectively with your audience.

How To Build An Audience

Learn how to build an audience from scratch can seem daunting, especially when you don’t have an offer or freebies to entice people. However, video content is a powerful tool that can help you grow your audience organically. Here’s how you can leverage video to build a strong, engaged following even if you’re starting with zero followers.

Why Video Works

Video content is one of the most engaging forms of media. It allows you to connect with your audience on a personal level, demonstrating your expertise, personality, and passion. Even if you don’t have an existing audience, uploading videos to platforms like Facebook can kickstart your growth. Here’s why:

Personal Connection: Video lets people see and hear you, building a more personal connection.

High Engagement: Videos tend to get more engagement than text or image posts.

Better Reach: Platforms like Facebook prioritize video content, giving it more visibility.

Starting from Zero

If your Facebook page is brand new with no followers, you can still start building your audience with videos. Here’s how:

Upload Consistently: Consistency is key. Even if you can only manage one video a week, make sure you post it at the same time each week. This builds a habit for your audience to expect and look forward to your content.

Use Facebook Ads: Even with no audience, Facebook Ads can help you reach people who might be interested in your content. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Create Your Video Content: Focus on topics relevant to your niche. Make sure your videos are engaging and informative.

Upload to Facebook: Post your videos on your Facebook page.

Track Engagement: In your Facebook Ads account, you can track how much of your videos people are watching. Look for those who watch at least 10 seconds, or better yet, 25%, 50%, or even 75% of your videos.

Retarget Engaged Viewers: Facebook Ads allows you to create custom audiences based on video engagement. This means you can retarget people who have watched a significant portion of your videos. These viewers are already interested in your content, making them more likely to engage with your future offers.

Creating Effective Video Content To Build An Audience

To maximize engagement, your videos should be:

Informative: Provide value by sharing tips, insights, or tutorials related to your niche.

Entertaining: Keep your audience entertained to hold their attention.

Consistent: Upload regularly to build anticipation and reliability.

Building Towards Offers and Freebies To Build An Audience

As you build your audience through consistent video content, you’ll be laying the groundwork for future offers. When you do have a freebie or product to offer, your engaged audience will be more likely to respond positively. Here’s how to transition to offers:

Create Relevant Offers: Based on the topics that get the most engagement, create offers that align with your audience’s interests.

Use Retargeting Ads: Once you have an offer, use Facebook Ads to retarget viewers who have engaged with your videos. Create ads specifically for people who have watched more than 25% of your videos. These are your warm leads who are more likely to convert.

Multiple Touch Points: Understand that it might take several interactions before a viewer takes action. They may need to watch a few videos before they feel ready to click through to your offer.

Consistency is Key

The golden rule for building an audience with video is consistency. Here’s how to stay consistent:

Set a Schedule: Pick a day and time to upload your videos and stick to it.

Plan Your Content: Have a content plan to ensure you always have something to share.

Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments and messages to build a community around your content.

Building an audience from scratch using video is entirely possible, even if you’re starting with no followers and no offers. By creating consistent, engaging video content and leveraging Facebook Ads to reach and retarget interested viewers, you can gradually build a loyal audience. Once you have that engaged following, introducing offers and freebies will be much more successful. Start today, be consistent, and watch your audience grow.

Video content has become an indispensable tool for businesses looking to increase sales and engage with their audience. Recently, Russell Brunson, the creator of ClickFunnels, posed an intriguing question to his Two Comma Club members—individuals who have made at least $1,000,000 from a funnel: “If you lost everything, what would you do for 30 days to try and get back to where you were?” For many successful entrepreneurs, the answer was clear: video, video, video. In this blog post, we’ll explore five powerful reasons why video is the most cost-effective and efficient way to market your business, regardless of your starting point.

1. Video is the Next Best Thing to Being In-Person

The Power of Personal Connection

Video allows you to create a personal connection with your audience, much like a face-to-face interaction. Through video, viewers can see your facial expressions, body language, and hear your voice, which helps convey authenticity and build trust. This level of engagement is difficult to achieve through text or static images alone.

Example: Consider a welcome video on your website. By introducing yourself and your business through a video, you can immediately make a more personal and memorable impression on visitors.

Enhancing Engagement

The dynamic nature of video keeps viewers engaged longer than other forms of content. People are more likely to watch a video than read a long article or look at static images. This higher engagement rate often translates into better conversion rates.

Example: Product demonstration videos can effectively showcase the features and benefits of your product, providing a more comprehensive understanding than written descriptions alone.

2. YouTube: The Second Largest Search Engine – Increase Sales

Massive Audience Reach

With 1.9 billion people logging into YouTube every month, the platform offers an enormous audience for your content. Many users prefer watching videos over traditional television, making YouTube an ideal place to reach potential customers.

Example: By creating informative and entertaining YouTube videos related to your industry, you can attract a large audience and drive traffic to your website or product pages.

Leveraging YouTube’s Search Engine

YouTube is the second largest search engine after Google. Optimizing your videos with relevant keywords can help your content rank higher in search results, increasing visibility and attracting more viewers.

Example: A fitness coach could create workout videos optimized with keywords like “beginner workouts,” “home exercises,” and “weight loss tips” to attract viewers searching for these topics.

3. The Dominance of Video Content to Increase Sales

The Rise of Video Consumption

It’s projected that by 2022, 83% of all internet content will be video. This trend underscores the growing preference for video content among consumers. People spend more time watching videos than consuming any other type of content, and this trend is only expected to continue.

Example: Brands that adapt to this trend by prioritizing video content in their marketing strategies are likely to see higher engagement and better results.

Staying Ahead of the Curve

By investing in video content now, you position your business ahead of competitors who may be slower to adopt this powerful medium. Embracing video content early can help you build a loyal audience and establish your brand as a leader in your industry.

Example: A tech company could create a series of educational videos about emerging technologies, positioning itself as a thought leader and go-to resource in the industry.

4. Cost-Effective Advertising with Video

Lower Cost Per View

Video ads, particularly on platforms like Facebook, are often more cost-effective than image ads. Video ads typically have a lower cost per view, meaning you can reach more people for less money.

Example: Running video ads on Facebook can sometimes result in views costing as little as half a cent. This affordability makes video ads an attractive option for businesses of all sizes.

Higher Engagement Rates

Video ads tend to generate higher engagement rates compared to image ads. Viewers are more likely to watch, comment, like, and share video content, which can amplify your reach and impact.

Example: A beauty brand might use video ads to demonstrate makeup tutorials, which are more engaging and shareable than static images of products.

5. Versatility and Repurposing of Video Content

Multiple Uses for One Video

One of the biggest advantages of video content is its versatility. A single video can be repurposed in numerous ways, maximizing its value and reach. Transcriptions can be turned into blog posts, ebooks, or PDFs, and audio can be used for podcasts.

Example: A marketing agency could record a webinar and then repurpose the content into various formats, including blog posts, infographics, and podcast episodes, to reach different audience segments.

Reaching Diverse Audiences – Increase Sales

Different people prefer consuming content in different ways. By repurposing your video content, you can cater to various preferences and increase the likelihood of reaching a broader audience.

Example: Offering a video, an audio version, and a written summary of the same content ensures that visual learners, auditory learners, and readers can all engage with your material.

Practical Tips for Creating Effective Video Content

Plan Your Content

Before hitting the record button, plan your video content carefully. Outline the key points you want to cover and create a script if necessary. This preparation helps ensure your video is focused and informative.

Example: If you’re creating a tutorial video, list out the steps clearly and rehearse them to ensure a smooth delivery.

Keep It Short and Sweet

Attention spans are short, so aim to keep your videos concise and to the point. Deliver your message within the first few seconds to capture attention and avoid lengthy introductions.

Example: A product demo video should quickly highlight the main features and benefits, ideally keeping the total length under two minutes.

Optimize for SEO

To increase the visibility of your videos, optimize them for search engines. Use relevant keywords in your video titles, descriptions, and tags. Additionally, provide a transcript to improve accessibility and SEO.

Example: An online retailer could use keywords like “best summer dresses 2023” in the title and description of a fashion haul video to attract search traffic.

Use High-Quality Visuals and Audio

Invest in good quality equipment to ensure your videos look and sound professional. Poor video or audio quality can detract from your message and reduce viewer engagement.

Example: Use a high-resolution camera and a good microphone to record your videos. Ensure proper lighting and a clean background to enhance visual appeal.

Engage with Your Audience

Encourage viewers to engage with your content by asking questions, prompting comments, and inviting them to share your videos. Responding to comments can also help build a community around your brand.

Example: At the end of a video, ask viewers to leave their thoughts in the comments and subscribe for more content. Reply to comments to foster interaction and show that you value their feedback.

Embracing the Power of Video for Increase Sales

Video content is a powerful tool for increasing sales and building a strong online presence. By leveraging video’s ability to create personal connections, reach massive audiences on platforms like YouTube, capitalize on the growing dominance of video content, benefit from cost-effective advertising, and repurpose content across multiple formats, you can maximize your marketing efforts and drive significant growth for your business.

If you’re ready to harness the power of video for your business, start by planning your content, keeping it concise, optimizing for SEO, ensuring high-quality production, and engaging with your audience. By incorporating these strategies, you’ll be well on your way to increasing sales and achieving your business goals.
