Always pays to “pay forward” Lisa and her family came to me from Ottawa this weekend for a family portrait in Queenston. With all my family portraits you get two additional sittings to share with anyone you want, it is a great way to give to other people and make sure families have great portraits hanging in their homes. Sister of a family I photographed back in the fall last year Lisa decide that this weekend would be good to do a family portrait. Taking time from their vacation the kids were great and I hope you all had fun in the splash pad after our very warm photo shoot.

Baby Bumps

I haven’t had the chance to photograph many baby bumps lately and it is something women don’t do enough of. My wife Renée when she was pregnant with Madelaine, she didn’t complain when I asked her once a week to pose for me for, or as time went on she was always more than willing to have her photo taken. We were talking about her pregnancy not long ago so I just wanted to re-post some of the amazing shots we had over the 9 months and to let women know that it is truly a beautiful time in your life. This amazing process takes place and at the end you have such a wonderful gift of life.

Villella Family Session

Tonight I had a great time at the park with the Villella family. I met Amanda and Morris at a mom 2 mom sale last year where they won a family portrait package which includes a full year of photography for their little guy. Today was the 2nd session of the package and we were talking about booking the 1 year SMASH the Cake session with them for his 1st birthday portrait. I am so glad I met up with the two this family they are so much fun and I can’t wait till the fall when I get to chase their son around once again.

Children Portraits

So people on here might think I just like to post photos of my kids around the internet, there is a reason I use my children a lot in my portfolio:

1) I don’t need a model release to show them in my work

2) I don’t need to pay them, unless I am giving them suckers

3) I have to say they are pretty cute!

Today Steve and I thought it would be fun to take Missy up the street to a side of a local store and try out some new lights and things. Here is just one of the great shots we got from the day, more to come for sure!

This session took less than 20 mins to do and like with your family you would get some amazing and unique portraits.

Dog Days of Summer- August 29th, 2010

Joelsmithphotography.ca and e11even11.com have day that is dedicated to all our furry friends of the K9 world. Steve and myself both have dogs that e love. Just as we love our cats, we know you LOVE your dogs. So,Dog Days of Summer was created to help out this great new building for the LCHS 4th ave location.

Not only are we doing this for you, but we are also doing this for the LCHS. We want to give something back to them, so for each $50 session we will donate $30 to the LCHS and you then also get a photo credit of $20 dollars towards a printed portrait of your furry friend that day, we have teamed up with Digital Sorts Photography Barry Springle, who has donated his time and supplies to this great event. After your personal session with Steve or myself you will be able to view your photos on site and spend you $20 to get a great portrait of you puppy.

Diesel & Shelbee back Steve & I into a corner to get the lowest prices for these unique sessions and then went to town on Barry’s ankles and have really took a bite out of the reprint prices.

We should tell you that this will not be your typical Studio dog portrait day Nope, we are planning to create the best image of your dog showing his or her personality. Sometimes we will get it in the first few frames, sometimes we may have to take 20, whatever it takes. We will be focusing on your dog and not so much as the backgrounds, props and colors. As you can see by our samples your attention is drawn directly to the dog, and you know what that dog is like just by looking at them

Sessions are approximately 20 minutes long, like we said earlier sometimes we can get those magic captures in the first 5 minutes, plus, your dogs might stress out, breathe heavy, tongues hanging out (which isn’t a bad thing) so we found 20 minutes is more than enough time.

Here are the prices that Diesel squeezed out of us for this Dog Days of Summer Photo Sessions

Here is a few things you should know about our dog days of Summer photos

Images will be B&W (this focuses your attention on your dog, especially the eyes, facial features and personality.)

Images will be captured on our high-key white background (for the same above reasons).

Images will be of the dog (or dogs) alone. This is Dog Day, not Dog & Owner Day (So please don’t ask)

A You will receive a tax receipt from the LCHS

Please bring chew toys, squeaker toys or any other “vice” you use to bribe your K9 to smile. Want to dress up your dog? Go for it.

If the parking lot is wet , please carry your dog inside.

You know when your dog has to go and if he or she happens to go in the studio………..so be it. Dogs do that. Don’t cry.

Please give us 48 hours notice of any cancellation so that we can rebook your spot

There are only 40 openings so you need to call and book your slots.

Dog Days of Summer

As I posted a week ago I was looking for a spokes dog for the Dog days of Summer Fundraiser our studio is putting on in August. After all the submissions and some great ones, Diesel was chosen. Here is his dog days photo shoot, although only 12 weeks old Diesel held it together wasn’t over demanding during the shoot which was so nice to work with, because you get some dogs that want it all! A trailer top of the line food and water from the Swiss alps only.

It was great to work with Diesel and I will have all the information about the Dog Days this Friday.

The Lincoln County Humane Society joelsmithphotography.ca, e11even11 photography have joined forces to help raise money for the L.C.H.S. brand new Spay and Neuter Clinic they are starting to build later this year. Bronwyn & Keith’s 365° Wedding

Bronwyn & Keith are my first wedding couple to take on the 365° wedding. They decided after I talked they already booked with me to upgrade to this package because they thought it was such a great idea and wanted to be the first couple to have this done ever. Connection session done last October, bridal party BBQ shot a few months ago tonight was bridesmaid dresses. This album will be full of images from our travels together and it is going to be amazing!!
