Events Wrap-up: White Christmas + Goodbye 2008! Hello 2009!

Hey party animals!

It was great to see you all at butter’s White Snow Christmas Party. Thanks for making the event such a great success. A special shout-out to the gorgeous Hong Kong models who’d stopped by and mingled with the crowd.

On Christmas Eve, butter was decorated like a sparkling winter wonderland. The dazzling crystals throughout the club were designed just the way we wanted. When it “snowed” at the stroke of midnight, the club looked like a fairytale. It was just beautiful.

Too bad our photographer had an emergency and couldn’t make it to the party. This explains why there aren’t many pictures in our Christmas album. If you’d snapped up some good shots that night, please share with us and upload them here.

Our New Years bash, aptly dubbed Goodbye 2008! Hello 2009!, was just crazy. One lucky guest entered our draw and won a grand prize of an all-expensed trip to dine with President-elect Obama at the Whitehouse.

Okay, seriously. Celebrating at butter was no less exciting. The party was one of Shenzhen’s highest grossing events. Hundreds of gorgeous people showed up in chic fashion. Once the DJ started spinning, our Hip Hop choreographer and award-winning guest performers joined the crowd and showed the party animals some insane body moves. butter’s in-house dancers hurried in and gave a sexy, impromptu dance routine that was undoubtedly the hottest moment of the night.

At the pinnacle point of the party, the butter crew randomly showered guests with bottles of champagnes and Godiva chocolates. Everyone got so excited. I’m not sure if it was the alcohol, the chocolate or the hotties that were passing out the goodies. But it’s definitely set in the mood for the wonderful 2009. While we’re on the topic, let me tell you a little secret -- our party lineups are going to blow the roof right off the building. Are you ready?

Showcase x It’s Real Party -- Fashion Event of the Year

The year 2008 is coming to an end, but it doesn't mean that things are slowing down at butter. In fact, we’ve continued to host historically fabulous events right up until the end. Our most recent blow out, ‘Showcase x It’s Real Party’, was a party of all parties with everything you'd ever want in an event. Fashion, music, top shelf drinks, bulb-snapping media, and even a few TV personalities helped made this event one butter’s best yet.

On November 21st and 22nd, butter’s ‘Showcase x It’s Real Party’ was the place to be. Everyone who’s anyone helped us torch the place down with music, dancing, fashion, and some good, old-fashioned celebrity.

People came early and stayed late to soak up every minute of this ravishing function. The night started with the ‘Showcase’ featuring fashions and new releases from global brands like Vans and Adidas to some Shenzhen originals like SixVision, Fat Tongues, and more. It was the ultimate fashion celebration for any fashion-forward party-goer.

People turned out in mass to celebrate these luxurious brands. Everyone was dressed to the nines in hip urban looks and up-to-the-minute styles. butter was proud to welcome Shenzhen’s rich and famous to the enchanting occasion. Various media organizations showed up too, to give the event the coverage it deserved.

And if the ‘Showcase’ wasn’t enough, there was plenty more to come. Our ‘It’s Real Party’ kept going all night long with graffiti performances and a dance floor packed with the trendiest Shenzhen clubbers. It was easy to see that no one wanted the night to end.

Not to worry. With 2009 around the corner, you can bet it'll be filled with tons of amazing events and more opportunities to see and be seen at butter.

We Got Elf'ed!

I received a tweet from Mark Hawker, the mastermind behind Facebook’s Friend Statistics, this morning which got me excited for Christmas. The elf has been viral for quite some time now but it's still very funny to see myself dancing atop the body of a dancing elf.

Fast-forward, I sent the link to Gary Cheung, butter’s beloved regular, and he elf’ed one of butter’s respected heads. Check out his fancy dancin' moves. It's elf-larious!

We noticed that aside from having a show-stopping butt, you all have something else in common. Sure, you like to party and you’re all hot. But most of all, every past-paced night at butter looks like a fashion show because you’ve got style. If partying is your first love, then fashion has to be a close second.

September 19, our Butter Fly Trendy Party was butter’s first fashion party and stylish it was. This high energy event was one of the flashiest, most fabulous nights at butter. We partnered with SixVision, one of Shenzhen’s young and hip fashion brands, and gave you a glamorous night of dancing, drinks, and delectable vogue.

All of Shenzhen’s chic and stylish party-goers were there, crammed into the 15,000 square foot floor. People danced, carrying tasty drinks in sparkling stemware, wearing the season’s hottest designs. The cordially invited, national award-winning dancers didn’t fail to impress. You were literally blown away by their flashy dance routines, and by midnight, butter was wall-to-wall with trendy party-goers with no intention of heading home.
Needless to say, our first style party was an overwhelming hit. So we thought it’s high time for our second, and much grander, style party, since the regulars at butter definitely have a passion for fashion.

Come join us at “Showcase x It’s Real Party!” this Friday and Saturday (November 21 and 22) to get a taste of an exuberant blend of style, music, and pop culture. “Showcase” will announce news releases of international celebrated brands like Adidas and Van’s, and feature the finest, trendiest duds from up-and-coming local designs as well as renowned fashion brands. It’s an unprecedented event where cutting-edge fashion steps out of the malls and onto the most stylish urbanites in Shenzhen. Halloween’s Not Just for Kids at butter ... It's for Ghosts Too

When we were kids, Halloween was a fun holiday for dress up and candy. But now that we’re all grown up, Halloween just keeps getting better. This Halloween was the best one yet for all those that turned out for butter’s Halloween bash. It was a night of fearless debauchery for everyone involved.

As always, everyone was decked out in their Halloween best. Some were scary. Some were sexy. Some were just downright fabulous. Either way, everyone was ready to take the cake with their Halloween costume creations. Scary and sexy costumes alike made up such an array of flashy fashions that butter almost didn’t need to decorate. Oh, but we did.

butter was drenched from top to bottom in Halloween fun. Ghoulish decorations and scary scenery made butter look like the devil’s living room -- if the devil had fabulous taste. The atmosphere was complete with devilish dancers to get the party going and vampire magicians brought a little intrigue into the mix.

If we’re known for anything, it’s for taking the party scenario way past the norm. For Halloween, butter pulled out all the stops. Our already-costumed attendees got to be kids all over again with sexy face painting complete with a complimentary drink special. And the ‘King of Hell’ and ‘Queen of Sin’ costume contest kept everyone competing for the scariest, sexiest costume.

And to think that with all this, there was still time for dancing? You bet there was dancing happening. In fact, the dance floor was probably more packed than it’s ever been. Considering that butter was pretty much wall to wall with costumed party-goers, you'd say that this was the place to go on Halloween in Shenzhen. And it stayed packed until AT LEAST 4 am. If we were being modest, you’d say that butter’s Halloween bash was a hit.

So what are you going to do next year for Halloween? No, it’s not too early to start planning. And we already know where you’ll be. Next year’s Halloween bash will be even better.

Party All Night: VJ Man Paris Asia Tour @ butter

Whoever said that parties have to start after midnight and end before morning really limited the party potential. The VJ Man Paris Asia Tour got started at butter at 10 pm on September 14 and didn’t stop until 6 am the next day. During the 8-hour party that never slowed down, the best of Shenzhen’s night life came out to dance, party, and have a wonderful time.

Everyone looked magnificent and chic in their up-to-the-minute fashions. And even after a whole lot of dancing, no one wanted it to end. The bar served remarkable, top-shelf cocktails, the music was hot, and butter’s patrons showed off their party stamina.

VJ Man, Belgium’s video dj and radio host extraordinaire, didn't fail to impress. He kept up with the relentless party-goers, spinning out the hottest mixes and beats that kept people dancing all night. He showed off his vast selection of hip hop and experience. We’re just glad he’s not keeping his talents to himself.

After this much fun, we’d assume that our butter regulars would need a little time off from partying. But we know better than that. We know we’ll be seeing you back again soon and looking as fabulous as ever.

A Night at the Beach: Aloha! Hawaiian Beach Party Blow-out at butter

Work hard. Party hard. We know how it is. Sometimes you just need a vacation. A Hawaiian vacation. Ugh, but you have to be back at work on Monday. What’s a young, hard working professional to do?

At butter, we know all about it, which is why our Aloha! Hawaiian Beach Party was a raging hit. You can’t always get to Hawaii, so we brought Hawaii to you. We couldn’t actually fit the sun and miles of white sand beach on the dance floor, but we got pretty darn close. We brought you the best of Hawaii and you completed the picture by dressing the part.

On August 29, our Hawaiian-themed shin-dig was complete with the most chic and fashionable Shenzhen party-goers. Models need a break every once in a while, too. It was clearly the place to be that night because the dance floor overflowed and the bar was lined with thirsty dancers. butter featured our usual fare in top-shelf liquors and spectacular bartending but with a tropical twist and hip, dance-worthy music that our patrons expect to hear.

By midnight, butter was packed with party-goers that looked like they’d stepped right off the cruise ship, the celebrity cruise ship. Grass skirts never looked so fabulous. Everyone was dressed for a day at the beach in bikinis, board shorts, and sunglasses. Hula guys and girls sported their sexy bikini bods for photo ops and dancing. Before we knew it, this night at the beach was a morning at the beach.

It’s hard to say whether our sexy, over-worked, success driven attendees got the rest and relaxation a trip to Hawaii can afford. But it’s amazing what a night of all-night dancing and partying can do. Our Aloha! Hawaiian Beach Party was just what Shenzhen needed. Hope you’re good and rested, can’t wait to see where we’re going next.

butter-licious! Highlights from 'butter-butt' T-Back Party

Since we held our first pre-launch party on July 25, 2008, we can't help but noticed that our patrons all had a similar affliction, that of a show-stopping butt.

That’s right, I said butt. And I said it more than once on August 15, the night of butter’s 'butter-butt’ T-Back Party: a night of no shame, just pride for all of the fantastic behinds in Shenzhen.

Why theme a party around a slightly taboo bodily region? Because playing it safe is boring. And our patrons, YOU, like living on the edge.

This was quite apparent -- and won’t soon be forgotten -- at around midnight. It was standing room only at butter and the city’s sexiest butts were present and accounted for. Who knew people got so excited about butts? They clearly do because this party was in full swing: dancing, bar tricks, and the glitterati were standing in line for vodka shots. No, really; there was a line. You’d think that vodka had youth-preserving properties. Men and women carried tasty treats like Pink Panties and Wonder Bras. Lingerie is best when served in stemware.

Everybody in the room was dressed to the nines -- but with as little clothing as possible. T-back tops, butt briefs, see-through tops, lingerie, it was all there (or not there). But who’s complaining? In a room populated with models, fashionistas, and the most fabulous people in Shenzhen, less is more. Attendees that showcased their derrières had a chance to win a luxurious prize of lingerie, champagne, and free stuff at butter. Thanks everybody for going all out with our butter-licious theme. I hope to see all of your sexy butts back again soon.

Happy Birthday, Tinnie!

While you were witnessing the openings of Beijing Olympics last night, the entire crew at butter was celebrating Tinnie’s birthday and witnessing the openings of a bottle too many whiskeys at table 15.

Tinnie is one of butter’s directors, who prior to the party, announced that if anyone had the guts to put more than 25 candles on her birthday cake, no one would walk out of butter live.

Now, if you know Tinnie, you know this lady means business. Her assassins aplenty and they do it from behind. We were afraid, very afraid.

Fear aside, many “happy birthday’s” and countless rounds of “cheers!” later, even the shyest dude decided he’d conquer the dance floor. Everyone was just dancing as if no one was watching. Oh, I promise you, A LOT of people were watching indeed.

The music stopped right at the stroke of midnight. As the butter crew wheeled out a large birthday cake with ‘Happy Birthday’ scrawled all over its creamy surface, eight servers marched in single file carrying eight champagnes decorated with sparks and fireworks. The huge screens behind the stages flashed birthday greetings and the DJ hollered sassy wishes amid the booming music.

Tinnie’s jaw dropped. We were screaming, shaking booties, and popping champagnes. Guests at the other tables soon joined in the fun. The laughter was contagious!

And if you’re wondering how many candles were on the cake – exactly one.

butter ‘Bears’ it All

I checked butter’s Facebook page today and spotted an unsolicited testimonial written by one of our customers, Frank H:

"Yeah, I went on Saturday. It was unreal … I met a really cute bear there and danced with her (him?). Can't recommend butter enough! and all the other clubs in SZ ... well ... can't believe they're not butter!"

Whoa. Frank, you just made my day.

If I remembered correctly, people started coming in at around 11pm that night. Sam -- our image director/social ninja -- and I spotted several tables of new faces. We introduced ourselves to the first-time customers and made sure our services were prompt.

Some shots and a bottle of champagne later, those fun-loving souls were all over the dance floor. Others soon joined them. They literally took the entire party scene to the climax.

Time to get some feedback, I thought. And straight I went to one of the guys Sam and I met earlier.

“Hey Peter, having a good time?”

He nodded, thumbs up, “I’m having a great time! It’s a fantastic place and it’s jam-packed tonight!”

I was about to carry on the conversation but a human-sized teddy bear swept in out of no where and interfered our chat.

Darn, Peter was cute.

In hindsight, I think the bear was trying to run away from the crowd. Everyone was chasing it. They just WANTED a piece of the club mascot.
