Loyalty is an urban tale of love, lies, and betrayal. Loyal is the fiancée of Iras Taylor, son of Philadelphia’s Kingpin Eric Taylor. Loyal was raised by the streets. Her reality was every girl’s dream.

From the professional world to the mean streets of Philly, Loyal and Iras had it all on lock. That is until he is reunited with his ex-drug-addict mother, Monica, after 20 years. Raised by his father since the age of 2, Iras wanted nothing more than building a relationship with his biological mother.

Be careful what you ask for! Through jealousy, lies and deceit, Monica manipulates her son and turns him against everyone who is closest to him. Her motive: REVENGE! She will not let anyone step in the way of her future with her son, especially not his leading lady Loyal.

As Monica’s plot fall into place just as she planned, the past that Monica thought she escaped meets up with her present, unveiling her shocking secrets! Loyal is determined to expose the true side of Monica at any cost, maybe even love! Take a journey in the mind of new comer Tammy Capri as this page-turner is sure to keep you on edge!

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Loyalty?

Tammy Capri: I love to write! I used to mainly write songs and submit then to major record companies. In 2011, I had a bad experience with submitting songs and decided to change my category of writing.

I am a big fan of urban fiction books, so I gave it a shot. I started writing an Urban story titled HBIC (Head Bitch in Charge) and the book sort of took a life of it own. Halfway into the story, I felt the name wasn’t the right fit for the story line, so I changed it and Loyalty was born.

JP: What sets Loyalty apart from other books in the same genre?

TC: I created my characters based on who I am. I have worn many hats in my life (some that I am not proud of), so I am able to use that as fuel to write Loyalty. Personal experience plays a big part in writing. Readers can tell when a writer has no idea what they are talking about. I don’t knock anyone’s style of writing, but I prefer to start off with personal experience.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Loyalty getting out to the public?

TC: Dedication and hard work. I’m a new author and Loyalty was release on 3/23/12. I have already sold over 200 copies. To a more seasoned author, 200 is not a lot. To me, it shows me that my hard work is paying off.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Loyalty?

TC: I started writing Loyalty in august 2011. I took a break in November when my second son was born. By that time, I had already written 17 chapters. When I resumed writing after christmas, I changed a few things including the name of my book and was done by mid-January. So I would say it took me a little over 3 months to write it.

JP: What’s next for Tammy Capri?

TC: I have Loyalty 2: Unfinished Business scheduled to come out this fall, and I am working on releasing two new authors under my publishing company.

This book is about a Senior Prosecuting Attorney who is working a high-profile case involving a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge. Judge Henry Franklin suddenly finds himself the main suspect of his wife’s untimely death in Paris, France. Prosecuting Attorney, Nayla Smith, is on a mission to prove Judge Franklin was the mastermind behind the fatal accident and wants nothing more than to bring this man to justice.

Since Judge Franklin has status in the community and friends in high places, he feels he’s untouchable and maintains his alibi will be enough to prove his innocence. The more Nayla and her team of law enforcement agents dig into Judge Franklin’s past, she starts to unravel the Judge, causing him to take evasive action and start a personal counter attack on her.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Nayla’s Dilemma -The Ends of Justice?

Toye Lawson Brown: Nayla’s Dilemma is the conclusion to my first book, Obsessive/Obsession. The inspiration for the development of this story came from an actual investigation involving a few local judges and county commission officers.

Although, these individuals were not accused of killing their spouses or anyone, I decided to make it more interesting and put in my own spin. Also, I work in the legal field and have access to many brilliant brains to pick.

JP: What sets Nayla’s Dilemma-The Ends of Justice apart from other books in the same genre?

TLB: I set myself apart from other books in this genre by how I intertwined elements. I want readers to be able to place themselves as doing what one or more of the characters are doing. I want them to live the adventure and not just read about the adventure. I believe I accomplished that.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Nayla’s Dilemma-The Ends of Justice getting out to the public?

TLB: Self-promotion is hard and tedious. I hit the book fairs, did interviews. I had my family peddling my books to their friends. I gave away books as promotions to get myself noticed. Slowly, I started hearing people were reading this particular book and enjoying the storyline and asking when I would be writing more.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Nayla’s Dilemma-The Ends of Justice?

TLB: To start, I need a good idea. Working in the legal field, I have endless brains to pick. Also, talking with people gives me scenarios. It’s putting all those great ideas together to make it work that take patience.

I start with my basic idea and work on character development. Since this book is part of a series (The Lofton Family Series), the main characters were there already. I had to throw in supporting characters to work with or against them that took most of my character development in this book.

Second, I work on atmosphere. Will the book be dark, humorous, enlightening, or have a message at the end? Once I decide that, I let my creativity flow. I don’t care for cliff-hangers, so I make my endings clear for the reader. I would hate for the reader to feel they wasted precious time by having to wait a year or more to find out what happened.

All the main character’s adventures are wrapped up accordingly and hopefully the reader is satisfied and will want to read more on this series when available. I believe it took me about five months to finish this book. I wanted to make sure the story flowed consistently before releasing it to the public.

H L Stampley, author of A Fragile Child’s Cry

A Fragile Child’s Cry is about child abuse and a broken down foster care system . It touches highs and lows of what happens to some children that enter the foster care system and also what happens when children come into the system that have been abused and neglected.

A Fragile Child’s Cry also talks about Shaken Baby Syndrome and the life long effects that it has on children that have been abused . It talks of the mental as well as the physical challenges that these children that has been abused have to face as well as challenges for the parents that have to love and care for these children .

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write A Fragile Child’s Cry?

H L Stampley: My son, whom I adopted and whom also was a victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome, inspired me to write this book.

JP: What sets A Fragile Child’s Cry apart from other books in the same genre?

HLS: I live the words on the pages. I had two biological siblings in my home and both were abused at the age of two months. Also, my wife and I fought the foster care system and the juvenile court system for nine years in order to save a life.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to A Fragile Child’s Cry getting out to the public?

HLS: An organization and individuals believing in me and my passion about this wonderful and compelling book that I have written.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish A Fragile Child’s Cry?

HLS: My writing process is simple: my memory and a tape recorder. A Fragile Child’s Cry took about a year to complete. The book first came out in 2008. It really didn’t emerge like I wanted it to, so I teamed up with an organization called Street Positive that believed in me and my cause about child abuse.

JP: What’s next for H L Stampley?

HLS: To continue to bring awareness to the forefront of America about the issues of child abuse and a broken foster care system.

Direct Sales for the Single Mom is a fictional and inspirational journey of how a single mom of two achieved success through direct sales and how it changed the course of her life.

This inspiring story will encourage you to reach your fullest possible potential. There are principles shared in this story that are applicable to both life and business. It provides a wealth of startup resources in addition to some interactive worksheets to help guide the reader to his or her purpose.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Direct Sales for the Single Mom?

Chiezda Washington: I’ve both directly and indirectly helped over 700+ people start their own home based businesses. As a single mom, I know there are a certain set of struggles we face as entrepreneurs and to assist others with balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship is where I found my inspiration.

JP: What sets Direct Sales for the Single Mom apart from other books in the same genre?

CW: First, I’ve researched many books on the market and while many of them focus on success principles, none of them are specifically targeting my audience of single moms. Moms, period, wear many hats. When you add to the equation a single woman raising kids, you double the number of hats she wears.

My target audience is who I wake up to being each and every day. God is using me as a vessel to assist others with both clarity and encouragement to balance their lives and pursue their dreams simultaneously.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Direct Sales for the Single Mom getting out to the public?

CW: A solid brand, exposure, my commitment to my audiences success in business, internet presence and a valued information product.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Direct Sales for the Single Mom?

CW: My process is from my heart, and it took me approximately three weeks to compose this book, cover to cover. The foreword was written by an author and friend, Mrs. Toni Coleman Brown, and the resources were gathered from my own personal arsenal of business building services.

JP: What’s next for Chiezda Washington?

CW: Next for me is the complete Single Mom to CEO Business Bootcamp to include webinar trainings, personal coaching, tour dates across the United States and a book deal with a major publishing company.

The book’s hero, John Smith, is a poverty-stricken and regrettably named young novelist searching for a publisher.

One fine day, his shabby North London house is invaded by two masked and armed gangsters. They rob him at gunpoint, stealing the one object in his life, which is truly important and close to him: his filthy, clapped-out and battered old PC.

So the question is: why? And the problem for John is that the novel he’s just completed is on the machine and he has no other copy of the book. So he has to get it back.

Nothing and Everywhere is the story of John’s quest to reclaim his baby. Despite fear of his guru’s disapproval, two handguns and a load of cash fall into his hands. Along the way, he teams up with a motley gang of helpers. The beautiful, enigmatic mathematical genius, Susie Bellavista, a Hungarian-born, ex-RAF Regiment sergeant called Biro, and the one-time political activist and fellow-failed writer, March Klossowski.

On the journey, John explores the power and wonder of numbers in an attempt to solve an imponderable, but real life mystery.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Nothing and Everywhere?

Nigel Lesmoir-Gordon: Life. I have been writing for film and TV for many years, but I have always wanted to write a novel. One night, the idea came to me in a dream.

JP: What sets Nothing and Everywhere apart from other books in the same genre?

NLG: It’s a unique combination of a thriller, a comedy and a romance. It’s wild, weird and wonderful. It’s a page-turner, but it also contains some extremely fascinating mathematics, physics and mysticism.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Nothing and Everywhere getting out to the public?

NLG: Determination, faith in the book and in my own creative powers.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Nothing and Everywhere?

NLG: First the seven Ps: Proper, Planning and Preparation Prevent Piss-Poor Performance. I write every day until I’m tired. It took me 12 weeks to write.

JP: What’s next for Nigel Lesmoir-Gordon?

NLG: I am working on the screenplay version of Nothing and Everywhere while I incubate the plot for the sequel, which I am calling A Glass of Two Milks. It will involve the same characters and will be set some 15 years in the future. This will allow me to some extent to create my own world.

Here are some reviews of Nothing and Everywhere, which have mostly been posted on Amazon UK and USA:

“You’ve heard of books you can’t put down, well I couldn’t close this book. Compulsive reading, thoroughly enjoyable.” David Russell Smith, Film Producer.

“A rip-roaring success.” Kate Archard.

“You are a very funny writer”‘ Kathy Harty, Producer.

“Nothing is as it seems and nothing is subject to the usual laws of reality in this book, peppered by snippets of advanced mathematics, deep spiritual truth and cosmic science, as well as a whole belly-full of hilarious action and real laughter.” Alastair McNeilage, Author.

“Nothing and Everywhere is thoroughly entertaining – humorous and tough by turns.” Will Shutes, Writer and Art Historian.

“I found this story gripping and very readable. Piers Jessop.” Film Director.

“Exquisite, enlightening prose!” Pasquale Falbo, US National Guard Fighter Pilot.

“There are so many pearls of wisdom contained in this book. I am going to have to read it again.” Jimmy Audrey, Author.

“I really enjoyed this book. It’s quirky and it captured my attention.” Samantha Mills, Yoga Teacher.

“Pacy and entertaining. It’s very engaging and leaves me wondering what will happen next.’ William Rood, Author and artist.

“It’s strong on dialogue with a sense of screenplay as befits a film-maker.” Mike Pitman, Author.

“Nothing and Everywhere is certainly an original work and I can well see it being picked out and celebrated as such.” Damien Enright, Author.

“I laughed at this book’s subtle irony.” Adrian Haggard, Writer and Comedian.

“A mystery, action-adventure tale that features a beautiful female character who can’t quit explaining the most esoteric aspect of mathematics quickly grabbed my attention. There’s something erotic about a lovely lass who smells of a meadow and, as a conversational gambit, opens with, “And what about pi, John?” Irresistible. Not limited to higher math, the love interest in this fast-paced novel, which often reminded me of John Buchan at his best, can also riff on Nicola Tesla and classical music. It’s no wonder that John Smith, our protagonist, is smitten within minutes of meeting Susie Bellavista. All the characters in this very cinematic quest to find a lost computer are intriguing, including the two handguns that take on philosophical importance. The Sig and Beretta are crucial and play an important role. Clearly, the author has a wide range of interests and experience that play out in the action, conversations, digressions, dreams and discussions that make Nothing and Everywhere: A Moral Tale a lively, entertaining read. I sped through it in a single sitting, which is the highest compliment I can bestow on a writer.” Randy Smith, Writer.

“Brilliant.” Clare Callan, Fashion Designer.

“The hero’s computer, containing his life’s work, is stolen somewhat violently from under his nose by two unusual thugs. In a desperate attempt to track down the computer from local skips, in the vicinity of his meagre lodgings, he draws in a motley crew to help. Thus begins an allegorical adventure, worthy of an epic western. When a strong and beautiful leading lady appears on the horizon and enters the fray, Nothing and Everywhere edges into question our place in nature and indeed the universe, through a mathematical vision. But this is no simple love story. The author does not shy away from the contradictions and insights of a drug fuelled philosophy, sown in from bygone days. The spiritual element, forming the backbone of the narrative, explores a hard-boiled 21st-century cocktail, of guns, money, fractals, wars and gurus! Nothing and Everywhere is a fast paced, cosmic romp that keeps you gripped till the end.” Matthew Scurfield, Author and Actor.

“Just finished this lovely novel – I found I was eking it out at the end, as I always do with books I love and don’t want to end. Lots of love, laughter and enlightenment within the pages of this book in palatable bite-size chapters. It is well researched and brilliantly written. I felt uplifted and pulled along by its feel-good factor. Thoroughly recommend.” Daisy Graham. Film and Video Producer.

“This novel was my first encounter with the author’s work and I’m so impressed that, although I’ve read thousands of books, I am writing my first review. Nothing and Everywhere is innovative, imaginative, and thoroughly gripping reading, taking the reader on a wild journey through the British Isles. A brilliant female mathematician is a bonus heroine, teamed with an unpredictable, unpublished author who violated the first rule of electronic media: backup your work!!! I now find myself searching for other things that he has done (and finding an extremely varied portfolio).” Carol A Weiss, Mathematician.

“I read this at one sitting. A fantastic eclectic mix, of not only a ripping yarn, with a nod to Chandler, (He reminded me of an ingrown toenail. He was sort of bent in on himself and somewhat discoloured), and John Buchan, amongst others, but with wonderful nuggets of philosophy, mysticism, mathematics and physics. It is not often one can find a book that is at one and the same time an entertaining romantic thriller, with allusions ranging from the lyrics of Dylan to Wallander’s dog, but also with real insights into the eternal imponderables of Life. It was an unexpected bonus to now have a much better grasp of fractals.”‘ Alistair Findlay, Actor.

“Wow what a great book! I had to read it all without putting it down, full of adventure and suspense, I like how this book Nothing & Everywhere captured my imagination. It felt like I was almost there amongst the adventurous gang, well written and thought out, must have taken a while to research. A great read well done Nigel a big thumbs up. The book would make a great movie.” Steve Call, Film Maker and Script Writer.

“A great holiday read – the story is contemporary and original moving along at a cracking pace with good dialogue and engaging characters. There are fascinating references to consciousness, mathematics and philosophy so that the page is never humdrum. This entertaining first novel begs for a sequel.” Shelagh Bocking.

5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Katherine McCaughan, author of Natasha Lands Down Under
(High-Pitched Hum Publishing)

Natasha’s Russian family flees the Communist Revolution in China for a new beginning in Sydney, Australia. Unable to speak English, Natasha longs for her old life in Shanghai.

The problems of life under Japanese occupation and the following civil war seem tame compared to facing her new school with its inexplicable customs, different clothes and hairstyles. Having lost everything to communism, Natasha’s family, by virtue of being Russian, is now accused of being communist.

As Natasha begins to settle into Australia, a huge gap opens between the Russian ways at home and life in the outside community. Can she fit in at school and still be Russian at home with Mama, Papa and Babushka? Money is scarce and the family struggles with choices that have to be made.

Natasha clashes with her aunt and cousins and falls out with a popular girl at school. The first turbulent year in Australia strains even strong-willed Natasha’s confidence, but a catastrophic event makes her realize her own strength and her ability to make her new life a success.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Natasha Lands Down Under?

Katherine McCaughan: Like my heroine, Natasha, I was born in Shanghai, China, to Russian parents. We left China and moved to Australia after the Communist takeover.

China had been occupied by the Japanese from 1937 right through the years of the Second World War, and this was followed by a civil war between the Nationalists under Chiang Kai Shek and the Communists under Mao Tse Tung. My family lived through all of this and, of course, there were several chilling events (my father was almost executed, an uncle was ‘displaced’) that my father talked about when I was small.

I wanted my own children to know what my family had endured, so I wrote down my family’s stories. I used this situation and these stories as the basis for the book about Natasha and her first year in Australia.

JP: What sets Natasha Lands Down Under apart from other books in the same genre?

KM: The setting of China and Australia in the 1940′s and 1950′s is unusual. Also, the family in the book is actually speaking Russian and living with Russian customs in the middle of, at that time, a very white, very Anglo-Saxon Australia. Even though there are many differences between Natasha and her life and the life of an American middle school child today, the common human problems of family and relationships shine through.

I think kids learn a lot about the world outside the U.S. from this book. Adults have really enjoyed it, too, as they are taken back to a time they might remember and they gain an insight into the migrant experience.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Natasha Lands Down Under getting out to the public?

KM: Natasha Lands Down Under won a gold medal in the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards for Young Adult, Historical/Cultural Fiction. This was a great honor and a terrific validation. The gold sticker on the front helps sell the book for me.

I have made presentations at quite a few schools and several book groups as well as a Newcomer group. Of course, I also do book signings in local bookstores which I enjoy a great deal. Right now, I am using social media as much as I can to get the word out.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Natasha Lands Down Under?

KM: I wrote the book while I was living in Hong Kong where I had a fabulous writers’ group. This group would critique a half chapter for me when we met every two weeks. I would do the same for the other members. This motivated me to get the rest of the chapter completed. I highly recommend a group of one’s peers to keep a writer on track and motivated.

As I did not work on the book fulltime, it took me five to six years to complete the writing. I could still be editing it if I had not finally said, “Enough!”

JP: What’s next for Katherine McCaughan?

KM: At the moment, I spend more time editing for friends than actually writing. As I have been asked many times for a sequel to Natasha Lands Down Under, I have a notebook in which I jot down ideas as they come to me. The marketing part that comes after the book is written has taken me by surprise. I really did not realize everything that was involved.

On my book page on amazon.com, there is a wonderful review from a woman I have never met. I hope people might take the time to read it. The award plus reviews like this one, make me feel that there is something in the book that speaks to people of all ages. It would be great to find a literary agent who could move the book up to the next level in terms of exposure.

5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Richard S Jaffe, author of Quest for Justice:Defending the Damned
(New Horizon Press)

Quest for Justice is a true account of stories of people who faced the death penalty and the criminal justice system and lived to tell about it!

Thirty-eight people have been wrongfully convicted landing them on death row. Quest features the Author/lawyer’s succesful exoneration of 3 of them and his representation of Eric Rudolph, the Olympic bomber.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Quest for Justice: Defending the Damned?

Richard S Jaffe: I wrote Quest after 36 years of representing over 60 people who faced the death penalty and after defending 100′s of people in jury trials for their freedom and their lives.

JP: What sets Quest for Justice: Defending the Damned apart from other books in the same genre?

RSJ: No other book about true crime puts the reader in the courtroom and exposes the criminal justice system with such suspense… No other book tells the inside story of the real justice system in America.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Quest for Justice: Defending the Damned getting out to the public?

RSJ: Quest tells real stories but it reads like a mystery novel. Those who have read it could not put it down.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Quest for Justice: Defending the Damned?

RSJ: I wrote Quest over an 8 year period due to a daunting trial schedule, but the story needed to be told honestly.

JP: What’s next for Richard S Jaffe?

RSJ: Another book involving more real stories of people facing death in a flawed system.

Makasha Dorsey, author of My Best Friend’s Brother
(Dorsey Publications)

My Best Friend’s Brother (MyBFB) is about the dynamics of friendship when lifestyle choices don’t agree. Mikayla, a devout Christian who believes homosexuality is a sin, becomes best friends with Stacy Ann, a lesbian. She ends up leaving her church to join another during the process. The relationship changes when Mikayla starts dating Samuel, Stacy Ann’s twin brother.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write My Best Friend’s Brother?

Makasha Dorsey: The inspiration to write MyBFB came from several places. I believe that there are various sins but also believe that you should hate the sin and not the sinner. There are also situations where we pass judgment without all of the facts and there are certain facts we may never know or force ourselves to understand. The inspiration for Stacy Ann and Samuel come from a few people I’ve met throughout my life.

JP: What sets My Best Friend’s Brother apart from other books in the same genre?

MD: My perception and reasoning is a little different from some Christian writers. I force myself to look at all perspectives in comparison to my own hermeneutics in relation to life and the bible. I constantly remind myself that Jesus taught in love and force myself to practice the same in my writing. I tend to be more critical of Christians than non-Christians. And, I like to believe that I express a unique voice in my writing.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to My Best Friend’s Brother getting out to the public?

MD: Relationships. My relationships have helped me to become a better writer. I participate in writing groups on and offline. Other writers critique my work, which is sometimes painful but enlightening. And, from those writing groups I’ve also learned about the resources necessary to become a successful writer—editors, writing programs, training, promotion opportunities, etc. These same relationships have been instrumental in helping me to get the word out about my book.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish My Best Friend’s Brother?

MD: My writing process changes with each project. However, I do use the 8-Point Arc and am a tool/application junky. I’m an organized, deliberate writer. For MyBFB, I had a dream, got up, and wrote the story. It was shelved for a few months and then I revisited the story when I wanted to submit it to an anthology. From conception to the first time it was printed in the anthology, I worked on it on and off for about 5 months. However, it took more than 5 years for me to publish the novelette on my own.

JP: What’s next for Makasha Dorsey?

MD: I know it sounds cliché, but I have several irons in the fire. My main project is my communications firm where I handle public relations for people and brands. However, I am working on a re-release of The Church House, my first novel, and I am working on a project to pitch to a few editors as I pursue becoming a traditionally published author.

In Waterbury, Connecticut, twenty-seven-year-old Claude Porter is released after serving a ten-year prison sentence. He steps back into society with the intention of living a legal life. Jerome “Rocks” Watt’s attempts to lure him back into his former criminal lifestyle.

After becoming gainfully employed, Claude gets fired for falsifying his information on the job application. Growing tired of penning applications in a gridlocked system not designed for ex-convicts, he embarks on a mission, alongside Rocks, to capture the American Dream by any means necessary.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write A Small World?

Derek Jordan: I got the inspiration to write A Small World from writing poetry, reading books of many genres and trying my own hand at it.

JP: What sets A Small World apart from other books in the same genre?

DJ: I believe it’s my style of writing, flow and the level of suspense that A Small World carries.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to A Small World getting out to the public?

DJ: The main keys to my success on getting A Small World out to the public is the ability to embrace the process, overcome boredom, and the application of a high level of persistence and faith.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish A Small World?

DJ: I always start with pen or pencil on white paper. That is my first draft. When I type it into my laptop, that’s the second draft. Then I go over it, which is the third and final edit before professional editing takes place.

JP: What’s next for Derek Jordan?

DJ: I am currently penning my next novel, Next of Kin: A Small World 2 should be ready in 2014. Many more will come year after year. A poetry book is always in the works.

Mike Jefferies, author of A Life For A Life

Drako, after being released from serving nearly a 10-year bid, is finally reunited with his friend, Wiz. Wiz is now the CEO of a very lucrative and infamous record label, Red Rum Records.

Now seeing millions of dollars thrown around and being tossed back into a world of temptations, Drako is faced with a decision to wait on his the legit way or exploit the temptations he mastered back in federal prison.

This fast-paced, cut-throat tale is filled with glitz, glamour and mayhem. Both friendships and allegiances will be tested in a way that can only lead to a bloody and ultimate reality.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write A Life For A Life?

Mike Jefferies: Because of my love for Hip-Hop culture, inspiration to write this book came easily. I always wanted to pen a great story that took place in the heart of Hip-Hop. It just felt natural.

JP: What sets A Life For A Life apart from other books in the same genre?

MJ: I’ve never read a book with the main character so close to the industry. Also the incorporation of the white collar crimes along with the Hip-Hop scandals takes the reader to a different place while staying Urban at the same time.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to A Life For A Life getting out to the public?

MJ: Passion over everything! I stay true to my craft and genre. The first thing to do is write a good book! I don’t try to tackle fantasy, vampire books or murder mysteries because they make money. I write what I know: Urban Fiction. I focus on making easy-to-follow relatable plots my readers can’t put down.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish A Life For A Life?

MJ: I think of what topics are hot, then I visualize what characters would propel a good story. After settling on a good concept, I usually write out the first chapter and the last. Then, I go back and bridge the gap in between. I structure as much as I can along the way.

You’ll always get to use your intuitive gifts to color and dialogue as you go. By the time you reach the climax again, you’ll tweak it into the explosion you’d always hoped for. It took me about three months to finish A Life for a Life. If I have the full concept and stay at it until I chase the story out of my head, I have been known to pen a complete draft in as little as 26 days.

JP: What’s next for Mike Jefferies?

MJ: The sequel to A Life For A Life, subtitled The Ultimate Reality, is up next. It’s by far one of my favorite writes. Not only does the vicious and ongoing waxwar threaten to spill out of the booths and into the streets, but here you also get the full meaning of the title. It’s an unforgettable climax you won’t believe!

I have several other completed novels to follow. I don’t want to drop my hot title names just yet, but there’s a lot more drama and an epic erotic thriller that’s sure to be a banger!

I’m a constant work-in-progress and as long as my readers are feeling me and hitting me with reviews and fan mail, Ima’ keep puttin’ out. I want to be the author you can always depend on for relevant and hot new releases. Thanks for your support and reviews.
