Search Engine Optimization Pt. 3

This post is perhaps my most important yet. This post concerns the Overture keyword selector tool, which can be found here and how to get your blog posts on the first page of Google through Search Engine Optimization or SEO. This is probably the most popular way to optimize your blog post for search engines and only one technique for doing so. If you really want to optimize your blog post for search engines, you should use all means at your disposal including techniques like backlinking to other people's articles, submitting articles to blog carnivals and articles and submitting your blog to social bookmarking sites and search engines. The following list consist the steps you need to take in order to optimize your blog post for search engines.

1) The first thing you need to do is to decide what you would like to write about.
2) Use the Overture keyword selector tool to choose which keywords you want to use, depending on the topic of your blog post. I would suggest that you bookmark this page.
3) When you are looking for keywords that you think you might want to use, do not start at the top of the page. The higher the keywords are ranked (how many hits they have), the more difficult it will be to get your post on the first page of Google when someone types in those keywords. So, look further down the page.
4) The next thing you should do, after you have chosen the keywords you think you might want to use is to go to Google and input the keywords you want to use for your blog posts. Check out the sites in order to see how often the keywords or variants of the keywords come up in the header and within the body of the article. This is a very important step because this will determine how often you use your chosen keywords and variants of those chosen keywords to end up on top of the sites you have viewed through Google.
5) All you have to do now is to write you blog post.

Note: It should be noted that even after you do all this you may still not end up on the first page of Google depending on how optimized the other sites are for the search engine optimization keywords you chose, especially if those sites have a much higher page ranking than yours, but ending up on the second page is not bad either. Also, it might take as long as a week for your post to show up on Google, so be patient. The end result is still the same--free traffic to your blog.

Hey, guys. Last night, I found something I think all of you can appreciate. I finally figured out how to add a page element to the blogger header so that you can add your pay-per-click programs to your page without having to scroll or anything like that. You can also learn a lot of other cool things like adding a graphic to your header and more.

Hey, guys. I found something I think will peek your interest. I came across this site called snap.com. The really cool thing about snap is that once you download and install it, you will be able to preview sites without clicking on them. For example, if you are doing a Google search and are looking for a particular website or blog or whatever all you have to do is to put your cursor over the Google result and you will be able to preview the result (website, blog, etc.).

Hey, guys. This is the second installment to the post "What is RSS?" In order to syndicate your feed to the masses, you must sign up the feedburner. Once there, all you have to do is the regular sign up stuff and give them the name of the feed you want to use. It gives you a lot of cool stats and stuff related to your feed like how many people have clicked on it and what stuff they have clicked on. Then, you will be able to publize (add the widget code) to your blog. Also, Once you get enough traffic and stuff and meet feedburner's requirements, you also have the opportunity to monetize your feed by contacting the publishers.

Hey, guys. I have received several comments about having a way for people to contact me. Well, now you can! Over the past couple of months that I have had this blog, I have noticed that a lot of people have a contact form on their blogs. The problem was that they were using word press and not blogger. Until recently, I was not sure if blogger even had a similar function to word press, but on the site contactify.com, you can now add a contact form into a page element, without reviewing your actual e-mail address. Once you sign up, they will send you an e-mail to activate your contactify link. You will then be able to add the widget to your page. What is a blog roll?

A blog roll or link list as blogger calls it, is a list of links usually on the side bar. A blog roll is not necessary, but when you see one on someone's blog it basically says "These are my friends." The blogs listed usually share a common theme. Once you add a site to your blog roll, it is a good idea to ask the site listed on yours to add you on there blog. This can be a useful and free way of getting traffic. However, if you link to a high quality site, your blog should meet the same quality standard.

This is one of the most misunderstood topics I have come across. According to Wikipedia, RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel", contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text.
