Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Qld, I’m a very proud Gold Coaster.
A Southport State School athletics age champion & Gold Coast Discus Champion, I’ve danced all her life so I am ecstatic to take part in this once in a lifetime event. As a kid I trained in Ballet and Jazz and at age 13 started competing in Ballroom and Latin dancing holding many State and Australian titles including
Australasian Exhibition Champion with my dance partner Roger Smekel.
21 years as a fitness instructor, choreographing 2 school musicals, and embracing Argentine Tango for the past 7 years, this opportunity to present my home to the world  (through interpretive dance – as they say) is so exciting…

John’s piece ‘See Life’ is a star attraction at Swell Sculpture Festival 2015. The work stands 2.2 meters high and has 510 individual LED lights programmed to produce a story of environmental care and wonder.

It is one of 55 works by local, national and international artists on display at Currumbin Beach until 20 September. ‘See Life’ lights up from 5pm – 7am each night so is entertaining visitors 24 hours a day. Be sure to get down to the beach to enjoy this wonderful event.

Below is a photo of John & I in front of the original JC Leyendecker painting ‘The Dancers’, painted for a 1930’s Arrow Collars advertisement. John has owned a print of this since he was in his 20’s and had it framed for me for my 50th birthday party – the dance party of the 1/2 century! I got a little teary standing in front of the original. Also pictured is John & I with our gracious host Laurence Cutler (standing in front of a Maxfield Parrish) and us walking the Cliff Walk in the snow.

The works are selected from all Year 12 students studying Art on the Gold Coast. The exhibition covers a broad spectrum of mediums and provides a snapshot of the current social, emotional and global views held by young people on the Gold Coast. Ethan’s piece is a video work entitled ‘Transitions’.
