Google finally seems to be getting it. My biggest frustration is the lack of good cross platform messaging options. iMessage is great is everyone is on a apple device, but not everyone is (and my work machine is certinially not), google talk has some cross platform apps but the conversation can not be carried over to multiple devices, Whatsapp, Viber, et al limit a user to one device (lame). Facebook is the only platform that i have found where I can continue a conversation on any of my devices (iOS, andriod, windows, mac, and web). Personally, I am really starting to like and use Facebook Messanger as my primary messing platform, but I would like to see what Google is able to do here, as Google is my hub for most all my other conversations.

Yes, I’ve been using my phone a lot this morning (on a long call, the battery was 100% at 6am), and yes I think my phones battery runs down to quickly, but I don’t know what to do about it.

At least on the android platform you can see the apps and internal services that are using battery and make adjustments in usage as necessary. On iOS I’m stuck with guessing or hoping I can find an outlet soon.

I’ve been wearing my Basis band now for more than a month now. I’m still not sold on the device (as compared to a FitBit or UP band). The detail in the stats is amazing - when data is recorded.

This is a prime example from my run yesterday. My primary activity was from about 3:15 to 3:45. During that period the band (despite being on correctly) did not record a single heat rate measurement. I know the Basis is not meant to be a replacement for a proper HR monitor, but still, not one measurement during my entire workout. I love detail, but it needs to be correct detail.

I’m still wearing the device, but for how long we will see. The device is not that comfortable and doesn’t look that great, both things I am willing to sacrifice for good data, but all i’m seeing now is data porn which has yet to provide me with decent insight.

Interesting to see. Using the UP, FitBit, and Basis I still believe FitBit has gotten it right thus far in terms of apps, data available on the web, and integrating in weight, activity, and food. However, this purhcase and the open API from UP should hopefully be good for the industry as a whole.

My biggest complaint with the UP is the lack of a web based interface and export to see the granular detail as I can with a FitBit. This is one step in the right direction.

Jawbone also said today that it’s opening up its Up mobile software to ten different fitness-app makers, including RunKeeper, MyFitnessPal, LoseIt, Withings, Sleepio and IFTTT (for workout prompts). Jawbone Up users with iOS devices will now be able to share data to and from these partner apps with the Up app.

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter considering i have both devices. I find the Nexus 4 screen too wide and myself too locked into Apple. But it is a very good device.
