so, apparently it's been about five years since I've posted here.

I'm surprised I haven't been kicked off the platform for inactivity.
Things have been good, I've been writing a bit more than drawing, and drawing a lot more than painting lately.
I haven't been exhibiting or working on any sort of publicity in the last several years, but was recently invited to a summer group exhibition. The opening reception was nice and I received several compliments on my work, which made me realize I've been (artistically) isolated and hoarding my work lately. Little by little I'm emerging from the shadows. Updating resumes and statements, digitizing drawings.
I signed up for an Instagram account and will be adding art on a regular basis -check it out and follow me if you're on there...

After years of people approaching me and asking if I have a card - to which I would reply, "no actually I don't, but if you google "John Otter" you should be able to find me online." - I've finally created some business cards.

I suppose this is inline with my efforts to frame work, exhibit it and sell it, which I haven't been that interested in in the past few years. I'd really rather be creating work than marketing it, so I doubt there'll be an all out publicity campaign on my part (at least not anytime soon) - but I've realized small efforts go along way.

goodbye old home, hello new one!
After years of the same place to call home I was sent a notice to vacate. The reasoning behind it is still a bit shady but I'm looking past that now - especially since I moved over the weekend and now have a new place to live, which I may like even better than the old place.

This coming work week looks busy
and most likely stressful,
lots of paperwork & deadlines,
cat herding & run around.

Having three jobs isn't as bad as I thought it'd be,
but it's still exhausting,
especially when trying to move.

I just received a letter telling me I have to move out of my house by September 1st...
September is a terrible time to try to find housing in a college town, mid August is bad also - so I'll most likely be trying to move by the end of this month.
I've enjoyed my house and don't really want to move.
It might be time for me to start looking for a different job,
I guess I'll ask for a large raise before I begin looking into other employment.
