Hello All,

Woot is selling an Philips Touch Screen MP3 Player for $94.99 shipped to your door. It is basically an iPod Touch but running Android 2.3 instead of iOS 5. The one potentially negative big difference is that it does not have a camera at all. It does have an FM radio though as a positive difference over the iPod Touch. The unit has positive reviews, which you can see here and a negative main stream review which you can find here. The negative review seemed to be based mostly on price, which this deals price is about half of what it was when the unit was first released. This deal is about $40 cheaper than the same thing on Amazon.

Happy belated birthday Farrah, there were no good deals yesterday or you would have gotten a shout out on your actual birthday. Happy Groundhog Day to everyone. Right now is the best time to buy a HDTV and boy do I have a deal for you. Best Buy is selling a Sharp 42" 1080P LCD HDTV for $329.99. That is crazy low for a nice brand name TV. We have the same TV just about 2 years older and it was $450 on sale. These are very good basic TVs. They do not have all of the bells and whistles like netflix built in, or PIP, but I have never used PIP on the TV we have that has it and I have a Roku box hooked to the Sharp and that works great. Hello All,

I would like to start this post by wishing a Happy Birthday to my wife, Laura. Woot also decided to wish you a Happy Birthday by having good deals on HP TouchPad tablets. You can get the 32GB for $224.99, the 16GB sold out already. I picked up one of these when HP blew them out, and for the money they are totally worth it. WebOS is easy to use, and you can install Android on them if you really want to. I have not yet done that to mine as it works well enough with WebOS. More pluses, you can plug it into any computer and move content onto and off of it, the speakers are the best I have heard in a tablet device, and if it breaks because of your kid dropping it at least you are not out $500 for an iPad. The woot-off is still going, which is crazy. This is the longest woot-off I have ever seen. I predict the BOC will drop sometime mid afternoon, I am going to say 2:30pm Central time. On to the deal.

Costco is selling the E-PL1 with two lenses, a case, and a 4GB card for $379.99. This camera is a great micro 4/3rds camera and at a remarkable price. This camera would be great for someone looking to get into photography, someone who wants something about the size of a pocket camera - but with much better quality, or a serious photographer that is looking for a smaller and cheaper second camera to take with them places. I could go on and on about this camera, and the 4/3rds standard, but I will let pros speak for the camera. You can read more here, here, and here.

The woot-off is still going strong today on most of the woot sites. If you do not know about it, you can check it out here. In addition to that Sellout.woot is selling a Toshiba HD camcorder for $64.99 shipped to your door. This little HD camcorder is perfect for parents and children as it is cheap enough that you will not care if it breaks, it is waterproof to 6.5 feet, and it has a HDMI out so it is easy to hook up to a TV. You can find some reviews here, and here and you can view sample video here. One last thing, this camcorder is $65, do not expect mind blowing HD video, but in good light and in places where it might get wet or wreck a better camcorder, it will work really well.

We bought a Kodak PlaySport Zx3 before we had our daughter, and it is basically the same thing. It is waterproof to 10 feet, but outside of that they are very similar. We bought that model over the newer Zx5 as the Zx3 has an interchangeable battery. The Toshiba has that as well and is about $50 cheaper, so I would buy this if I were in the market.

Lastly, happy birthday to the not so little Andrew Kettner, man has this year flown by.

Hello All,

On Sunday night, December 11th, at 6pm central time. HP will be selling refurbished TouchPads for $99 for the 16GB and $149 for the 32GB. They will be doing this only from their ebay store, and only accept PayPal as a payment method. There is a limit of two per person and the units will have a 90 day warranty. HP will also be selling a $79 bundle including a case, Touchstone dock, and wireless keyboard. The dock allows you to charge the TouchPad wirelessly, you simply need to place it on the stand.

We scored one of the 32GB originally when they hit $149. It was DOA when we got it and it took about six weeks to get it back from HP. It is good for the money, but a first generation iPad is more responsive. If you look at it like a giant iPod Touch, then it is a good deal. For music playback, photo viewing, and light web browsing it works great. Lastly, there is an effort to port Andriod 4 to the TouchPad. If they get that working then you will have a very solid Andriod tablet for $99 or $149, and that is a great deal.

Today only, Sellout.woot is selling refurbished Roku N1000 boxes for $44.99, shipped to your door. These are similar to the AppleTV, but less money and with more content. We have one and we love the HBO Go channel, and the Amazon streaming channel. The units also have a lot of the big and popular channels such as NetFlix, Pandora, YouTube, and Hulu Plus.

If you are leery of the fact that is the prior generation technology, you can get the current, second generation, hardware for $49.99. You can find that here. The one advantage the refurbished unit has over the new unit is an ethernet port. The XS 2, on sale for $90, is a also a worth while upgrade. It gives you a USB port so you can play anything on a USB stick on the Roku.

One other issue to note. If you are running your own DNS as we are, the unit will likely fail to connect when you fire it up. After I changed the dhcp server to use external DNS servers the unit worked great. I am sure there is a way to fix this issue but I have not looked into it.

Hello All,

First off, Happy Birthday Mom! Now on to the deals. Tiger Direct managed to land some of the suddenly hot HP Touchpad's and will be selling them this afternoon. They are selling the 32Gb model with a bunch of accessories for $280. You can find this deal here.

I was able to snag one of these initially for $150 when they were first on clearance. It is not as good as an iPad, and anyone who paid full price, $500, for this over an iPad was a sucker, but for less than $300 it is a worthy addition and works well. You can overclock it, you can install android on it, and WebOS is a decent OS. Overall the web browser and the email client are not as good as the iPad and that is where it falls down. Couple that with the tiny app store compared to the iPad and it is pretty clear why the TouchPad failed. As a media player, flash player, photo viewer, and basic web browsing it works well and it has decent battery life.

The sale starts at 1:30 central time today, and I expect them to be sold out at about 2pm. Good luck.

This is not strictly a technology deal, but the technology in the units is amazing and works great, so I will let this in. Today only, woot is selling a refurbished Dyson DC14 for $184.99 shipped to your door. This is the cheapest price for a Dyson I have ever seen. We have a version of this vacuum, the pets version, that is seven years old and still going strong. I will buy another Dyson if ours ever fails. I really cannot recommend Dyson vacuum enough. You can use any other vacuum, then vacuum over the same spot with the Dyson and you will pick up more dirt. It is pretty crazy how well they work. I know a handful of people who have purchased refurbished Dyson vacuums and they are all very pleased with the purchases.
