Mass Effect Maverick Almost Done - New Steampunk Lanard X8

Yes, back on the computer where I can do a proper update..ok, proper for me anyways..hehe. Some of these will be familiar, but I got photos with the DSLR this time :) I'll be on vacation next week so I'm hoping to get a lot done and actually do some spring cleaning...in the fall. Yep. Hehe

Kind of Blase Runner inspired, but not after any particular gun. Borrowed the slide for the photo, but the final one will look more like the body..I think.. Lousy iP4 photo..come on 4S!!

Welcome back Folks! You're just in time for the photo avalanche!

Got a lot of stuff moved along enough to get some photos. I've also included a few that are just starting the trip, but thought you'd enjoy seeing them "before" and after :)

The Vulcan is probably my favorite for this week, but I'm really liking how the N7 Maverick is coming along. That should be done soon. Expect more photos soon, I kept a lot of stuff secret for now...ooh mysterious, right?

I think this one is Mars themed? I made it to test out doing chipping and ended up liking the different color scheme. This was kina what started all the red guns..plus I bought a lot of red paint. Waste not-want not! :)

Blue Halo-themed Scout with a lot of subtle color changes and whatnots..yes, I want the decal a bit (read: a lot) smaller, but the vinyl is very tough to separate when the pieces are any smaller

Proton and Praxis Obtained!

I hope you all are finding your own Vortex guns at the local stores, I know I'm seeing people posting on Facebook with their "early" finds. I managed to grab a Proton and Praxis after work and have spent part of the evening shooting my walls with little green frizbees :) I took a few photos of them in stock form so no shocking spy photos here, but I figured I better post a few just in case you haven't found better ones already online.

They shoot great and I think they'll make great props. Expect to see them worked into the schedule next week. Let the spring and screw losing being!

So I really like the packaging on the new guns. I expect more from the dart guns now. I do not want to be able to touch the gun before I open the box! :)

The Praxis - the cocking mechanism seems to delay shooting the next round for just a fraction of a second, but maybe I'm just imagining things...still love the gun and it's design. For the price I kinda expected some scope that would compliment the gun. Ah well...just gotta buy the big daddy for that bit of kit :)

The Proton - It's small, but it's awesome in my opinion. using the little side levers to load the disk makes me smile for some weird reason. I'm going to have fun with this one for sure :)

Custom NERF Vigilon gets some paint and Jayne’s Vera gets some character!

Sorry for a short post tonight, but I wanted to get a few photos up before heading out. I painted the rear part of the Vigilon to get a sense of the color-scheme (military/HALO-ish) and from that I think the gun will look pretty cool when it's all done. I also started breaking up the canvas that is my NERF version of Vera from the TV show Firefly. That's one heck of a detailed prop and so I'm doing my best to replicate the different surfaces. I'm certain it will look good when it's done, but I'm shooting for great so we'll see how the next week goes!

Let the Nerf Vigilon customization begin!

Thanks to a generous gift in the mail today , I started work on a custom painted Nerf Vigilon from the upcoming Vortex series. It was stamped with a few odd phrases...DO. NOT. SELL. :) I didn't pay a dime, so I'm going to assume I won't have my doors kicked in any time soon! I posted some photos below of the gun out of the box as well as into the sanding phase. It's got putty drying right now, but tomorrow I should be ready to base coat and then get after masking this weekend. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it comes out, because I have no idea what I'm going to do with it at the moment :)

Warhammer 40k Long Las inspired Nerf Longstrike

Insanely hot day today, but I was busy cleaning up the shop and finishing up a few things (guns mebbe?). Wanted to share a few pictures, but they'll get the final photos as soon as the decals arrive.

First gun is a modified Nerf Longstrike. I added the barrels to the front for a buddy who needed a Long Las style gun for his WH group. I'm hoping he'll be happy with how it comes out. The decals are in bright gold so they should look really cool withthe dark background. This was a really fun gun to build, so I may just have to do more body mods in the future...maybe on a Vera gun..hmm. :)

This next photo is one you'll think you've seen before, but this is a twin of the red N7 Stampede I posted not too long ago. I did change up the weathering a bit, to make it unique hopefully. Just needs those dang decals. Hurry up USPS!

Recon/Longstrike Hybrid project is coming along!

Hey everyone, I didn't have a lot of time this weekend for snapping photos, but those will be here very soon. I'm currently waiting on the decals for a few guns and just waiting for the other few things to dry out completely.

I'm going to be adding another tab to the site soon, it will have some pretty cool resin replicas that people have asked about. Some of these include Master Chief's Pisol from HALO, Han Solo's Blaster, Mal's Revolver from Firefly, and about 50+ additional models that I'll add as I see a need. The kit's are made by ArsenalModels.com and you can request a PDF catalog by emailing Ed at arsenalmodels@aol.com. Let him know you heard about their site here, I'd appreciate it :) Once you have the list, let me know what you need and we'll get them ordered!

Ok, on to the photos...there are precious few tonight, sorry!

Here's Nerf Recon body that I used in addition to a Longstrike front barrel (shortened the barrel a bit) and a Raider stock. The scope was not available for the quick photo op, unfortunately. This photo shows the gun as it sits now, it's just needing the detailing and weathering and it's all done. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Let me know if you can use it or something similar.

The small gun in the photo is a Sharpshot and it was just there because the colorschemes were the same! :)

New Lanard X8 projects starting – Mass Effect Stampedes almost done!

Hey Folks! Spent a good part of the day getting things packed up and almost finished up the Stampedes and Long Las rifle. It was still humid as all hell, but I got a lot done inside where it was still pretty dry. It will get better and the month moves along, which will be a great thing for paint drying! I did another one of these Otter Boxes for a photographer friend on DeviantArt.com. I did it for almost cost, mainly because they'll be able to tell me how well the finish puts up with daily use. I hope it does well so I can offer some other colors.

Recently I did a little Buck Rogers-styled squirt gun for my Dad. For my Brother I decided to do something along the same lines, but this time around I went with a tiny cap gun revolver. I guess I just think the little guns are cool to display without taking up much room. I'm sure they appreciate that aspect of the gifts :)

Stampede Akimbo action! These are almost done, just waiting for the PO to deliver the custom decals.

The first one of these Lanard X8s that I did got a lot of attention, probably due to the rarity of the gun. These are tough to find in stores, especially in states that don't have the chains where they're sold. You can find them online, but they're usually marked up 2-300% (retail is about 9-10.00). This is also the same for the Lanard X6. Here's some WIP photos showing the removal of the rear hammer guard. It takes a bit of patience to get them shaved off without a lot of rough edges, but if you take your time it can come out looking pretty cool.

Before and after - next comes the filler for those huge holes!

Sanded and then filled in the recess where "Made in China" was stamped. I also filled the mold dimples. After all this is sanded and made stock looking I will take the guns apart to paint the trigger, barrel, and also the cocking mechanism under the handle. That should be tomorrow if the filler has dried completely.

REVIEW TIME!! Max Force "Terrornator" by Jakks Pacific

Ok, you all have probably heard about the new line of guns, by now, but have you had a chance to see one? They are very nice and sturdy, not sloppy like a lot of the lower priced brands.

So you want to know more about it, eh? I'll do my best to convey in words my thoughts on these new takes on the "tagger" gun concept. This particular model is called the "Terrornator". It's a cool name, that Strong Bad would be proud of. :)

Yep, when I got the email I almost deleted it when I saw what looked like a canned promo. Luckily the promo interested me so I read on. I then got a bit excited when the sender asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of the guns...and I got to have a gun. Yes. I would like that kinda a lot.

So I got the gun the other day and had to wait a bit for some sun to shine for the photos. The photos below are ones I took, if you didn't recognize the gravel pattern from other gun photos ;)

So the gun comes with:

Some sporty glasses. Wear em or something else. I'll explain later.
A huge honkin gun with a detachable stock.
A belt to hold de bullets.
A functional scope. No glass, but because the gun is pretty accurate, it's helpful.
100 pellet bullets
Holder for said bullets

I don't know the price-point, but it's a pretty good bundle. I think I'm going to end up with a lot of glasses laying about the shop.. Not sure how much the ammo is, but I can tell you it's not reuseable. Hopefully they're affordable. Hopefully they make different colors like paintballs so you can see who shot whom.

The gun itself is about 2 1/2 feet long by my scientific estimations (I forgot to measure it..) It's similar to a Longshot from the other guys, but it's more slender and tactical feeling. I mentioned earlier, it's sturdy and the plastic looks good. I wonder if it will hold paint well..hmm. ;)

Purdy, eh? The other guns in the line look even better. I like it and think it will look pretty cool once I have some paint on it. It'll pop up on the site eventually, promise!

So how does it shoot? Well, first of all let's discuss the ammo itself. They're compressed paper and when you load the ammo, you do it dry. Once it's in the belt, you then dunk it in water for 10 seconds to absorb the H2O into the pellets. This also creates a nice seal. So now you know what you're shooting and you know why these are not going back into the holder. They're giant spitballs, people!! WIN!

The gun shoots very smoothly and there is no trigger to pull. the pellet is shot as you pump the gun and because its so smooth, you can shoot them pretty fast. Reloads, not so fast, but you have a lot of rounds and Im sure they will sell the belts seperately. Distances were pretty accurate at 100 feet. I will say it's equal to a lot of modified tagger dart guns out there and this thing will not break every round or blow a seal. :)

Vash the Stampede's Long Colt 45 from TriGun

All done with the Long Colt 45! Wanted to share it before bed! :) This is a lower-quality cast, probably made from a nicer original. I did my best with fixing the imperfections, but at a certain point, the time spent starts to not make sense. Regardless, I think it came out pretty nice.
