Question - Can you tell anything about the 1971 war which strikes you interesting?
Answer- "I can tell you about an incident before the war started, i can't remember the date now - sometime in April or something like that. There was a cabinet meeting to which i was summoned. Smt Gandhi was terribly angry and terribly upset because refugees were pouring into West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura."

"Look at this - so many are coming in - there is a telegram from the chief minister of Assam, a telegram from....... what are doing about it?" She said to me.

I said, “Nothing, what has it got to do with me?"
She said, “Can’t you do something? Why can't you do something?"
"What do you want me to do?"
"I want you to march in"

I Said, “this means war" and she said," I don't mind if it is a war."
So I sat down and said, “have you read the bible?"

"In the first book, the first chapter, the first paragraph of bible, God said, “Let there be light and there was light"- so i feel that "let there be war and there is war. Are you ready? I certainly am not ready."
Then I Said, "I will tell you what is happening. it is now end of April. In a few days time, 15-20 days time, the monsoons will break, and in East Pakistan when it rains the rivers become like oceans. If you stand on one side you can't see the other, i would be confined to the roads. The air force would not be able to support me, and the Pakistanis would thrash me - that's one."

"Secondly my armored division in the Babina area; another division, i can't remember which, is a in Secundrabad area. We are now harvesting. I will require every vehicle, every truck, all the road space, all the railway space to move my soldiers and you will not be able to move your crops," and i turned to shree Fakruddin Ali Ahmed, the agriculture minister and said, "if there is a famine in India they will blame you. i won't be there to take the blame."

Then i turned around and said, "my armored division which is supposed to be my strike force has got 12 tanks which are operational out of the whole lot."
YB Chavan asked,"Sam, why only 12? "

i said, “sir, because you are the finance minister. i have been asking, pleading for the months. you said you have got no money, that’s why."

then i said, “prime minister, if in 1962, your father had asked me as the Army chief and not gen thapar, and now your father had said "throw the Chinese out", i would have turned around and told him "look, these are the problems." now i am telling you what the problems are. If you still want me to go ahead, prime minister, i guarantee you 200 per cent defeat. Now, you give me orders."

Then Jagjeevan ram said, “Sam maan jao na."

I said, "i have given my professional view now the government should take the decision."
The prime minister didn't said anything. she was red in face and said, "Acha cabinet char baje milenge." Everybody walked out and i was the last to leave and i smiled ant her. She said, "Chief, sit down."

So i said, “Prime minister, before you say anything, do you want me to send in my resignation on the grounds of mental health, or Physical?"

She said, "Oh, sit down sam. Everything you told me, is true?"
"Yes. Look, it’s my job to fight. it is my job to fight and win., Are you ready? i certainly am not ready. Have you internally got everything ready? Internationally have you got everything ready? i don't think so. i know what you want but i must do it in my own time and i guarantee you 100 percent success. But, i want to make it clear. There must be one commander. i don't mind. i will work under BSF, CRPF, under anybody you like. But i will not have a soviet telling me what to do and i will have one political master who will give me instructions. i don't want the refugee ministry, home ministry, defense ministry all telling me. Now, make up your mind."

She said, “All right sam, nobody will interfere, you will be commander."
"Thank you, i guarantee you accomplishment."

"So there is very thin line between becoming a Field Marshal and being dismissed! It could have happened! So that was one incident i can tell you about and you can put it in your words."

Corps of Engineers

The Corps of Engineers is one of the famous part of Indian army and further divided into three parts - Madras, Bengal and Mumbai. The first of all was Madras which was formed in 1780 and consisted of 3 companies and is now located at Bangalore. The second one (Bengal) comes in 1820 and now located in Roorkee since 1853. Bombay sappers raised in 1820 and now located in Pune.
In 1941 the three corps are redesigned into groups and called Royal Indian Engineers (RIE) . The title royal was dropped in 1950.

Madras Engineers Group

Madras Sappers Originated in 1780 and went into action that following year along with East Indian Company. Since 1947 Madras sappers were part of all the major military actions. There were there during the construction of road for tanks during Zoji La assault. Madras Sappers also participated in operations conducted by UN.

Bengal Engineers Group

Bengal Sappers came into origin back in 1803. Some of their companies were also participated in uprising of 1857 hence those companies were then withdrawn. Bengal sappers are famous to built Bridges across impossible terrain as they did across river Chindwin, Burma and river Moro, Italy. They participated in all Indian wars after 1947 and they were the fist regiment to air lifted in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bombay sappers trace their origin to 1820. They were first located in Mumbai and then located to Kirkee, Pune. Bombay sappers have some specialized elements - Inland Water Transport (IWT) and Para Field company.

Do Active Backlog Create Problem in SSB Interview

There are a number of candidates who have this query whether or not subject backlogs create problem during SSB Interview or whether a candidate is eligible or not for SSB Interview if he/she has a backlog. The backlog may or may not create problem for a candidate which is purely depends upon the type of entry he/she is applying for.

Subject Backlog Vs SSB Interview

CDSE

You are eligible for CDSE can apply for the same even if you have backlogs. One can attend the SSB interview after clearing the CDSE written exam. But the backlogs must be clear as per the mentioned dates only when you get recommend. If your don’t have the final results or mark sheets for the final sem or backlog, you can carry an application mentioning the same through your college.

AFCAT

AFCAT do not allow an individual for AFSB interview if one is having an active backlog.

Navy Direct Entries

No active backlogs for Navy Direct Entries as they shortlist candidates based on their overall percentage. Navy always keep high cut off percentage and some of the times they even don’t allow candidates with backlogs history (including cleared backlogs).

TGC and SSC-tech

One can apply with active backlogs but you must be eligible with the TGC and SSC-tech cut off %.

Others:

Make sure to read the advertisement before applying any SSB interview. Try to submit all documents as per the mentioned dates in the advertisement.

Candidates who are unable to submit their original documents before joining training academy are considered on bond basis, they are given with some more time to submit their docs. Entry like CDSE supports this.

Conclusion

Backlogs can hamper your chances for SSB interview.
Active backlog may affect your personal interview.
Active backlog may create problem during submitting original documents in time.

Qualities of an Indian Army Officer

Joining Indian Army is a very respectable job. Every year a number of army officers are commissioned who are in charge of leading enlisted soldiers into battle and protecting them from unnecessary harm while taking on responsibility for completing the mission at hand. Intelligence

The Army expects its officers to be above average intelligence as they are going to handle a capital of responsibility in planning and executing missions. TO get eligible in the Army, it only requires a high school diploma or its equivalent; officers must have at least a bachelor's degree from a four-year university prior to earning their commission.

Self-Discipline

Self-discipline is a major aspect as it allows the officers to keep a cool head under drastic conditions and use a great deal of self-discipline in the face of danger. An officer who lacks in self-discipline may put his subordinates in danger and arouse panic in the ranks.

Confidence

The officers should have strong confidence level to make a good decision in flexible and often changing environments. It will enhance problem-solving skills and intelligence with the passage of time.

Physical Fitness

An Army officer should not only mentally fit but physically as well. The officers should be physically fit enough to overcome any tiredness or exhaustion.

Respect

Army always expects its leaders to respect their subordinates and to assure their well-being. Officers must have ability to earn the loyalty of their troops by showing them respect and willing to protect them from undue harm.

Territorial Army

Territorial Army provides a second line of defense with around 50,000 authorized personals. It was originated after the uprising of 1857, when Britishers feel the need of volunteers Army as second line of defense. In the beginning, it consisted of Europeans and Anglo Indians but after World War 1, it was opened for Indians too. Territorial force took an active part in Both World war 1 and 2.

Territorial army was raised in 1949 as a Voluntary force which any working personal can chose as a part time affair to serve the nation. They were called only in case of high Internal security or national disasters, in the mean time they use to carry weapon and tactics practices to keep them-self fit and ready.
Territorial army (TA) is further divided into 2 units - Infantry Units and Departmental units. The latter compromises engineer regiments, ONGC engineer units, IOC engineer units, army supply corps battalions, postal regiments, Waste land development force and general hospital TA battalions.
The TA battalions has participated in 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars as also with the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka and won many Gallantry Awards.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

Formed under the NCC act 1948 the national cadet corps with its motto - unity and discipline, has matured into a 50 years old organisation. It has a strenght of about 12 lakhs, of which girl cadets makes more than 10 percent. They are all voluntiers from more than  10,000 schools and colleges. The NCC has been instrumental in molding the character and inspiring a dynamic outlook.

It is ever expanding in horizon and its aims at development of character qualities and making them good leaders and useful for society. The qualities of Discipline, courage and confidence with secular outlook and embedded in them during their formative period as a hallmark of becoming good and useful citizens.

the program's consist of institutional training combined with adventure, sports and door activities. The camps consist of annual training camps, nau sanik camps, centrally organised camps and national integration camps. Community participation is provided through relief measures during national calamities. The cadets are attached to Indian Army, Navy and Airforce for a period of 14 to 28 days and various other training schools.

Under the youth exchange Programmes boys and girls have been to Canada, Singapor, Australia, UK, Bangladesh and Srilanka on a reciprocal basis. At the national level cadets has participated in the all India shooting competitions and other such events. The cadets are expected to prepare for CDSE conducted by the UPSC and are selected through the SSB Interview. In addition NCC officers receive training at courses conducted by the national civil defense college, Nagpur. 

The NCC officer training school at Kamptee and women officers training school at Gwalior are two institutes of National Cadet Corps.

Grenadiers

During east Indian company they usually have a Grenadiers unit of some well built men for close combat action during war. They do have a distinction of regiment and always walks on right hand side of Infantry unit during the Parade.

During world war 1, 102 grenadiers served in East Africa, Palestine and Persian gulf area. After their reconstruction after World war 1they were grouped together with 4th Bombay Grenadiers. After the transfer of Punjabi Muslims (Post 1947), the composition became 2:1:! of Ahirs, Jats, Dogras, Gujars and Hindustani Muslims.

Punjab Regiment

Punjab Regiment

1st Punjab and 2nd Punjab trace their origin to the middle of the 18th century when the east Indian company raised battalions to the south. As the area of operations widened to the northern areas - Punjab Muslmans, Hindus and Sikhs reduce the intake from South. This makers the origin of Punjab Regiment out of Madras Regiment. 

During the Reconstruction in 1922, senior regiments are merged to form Punjab Regiment. Due to the departure of Punjabi Muslmans after 1947, each battalion start having Sikhs and Dogras in equal compositions.

Punjab Regiment participated in all post 1947 wars. When the Brigade of the gaurds and parachute regiments were formed the senior battalions - 1 (para) Punjab became 1 Para and 2 Punjab became Guards.

Gallantry Awards in Indian Army

Soldiers been entitled for the Act of Bravery and Courage during Battles or in Peace Time. These Gallantry awards are awarded by the President Personally. The List of Gallantry awards in Indian Army is as

Param Vir Chakra (PVC)

This is the highest decoration for valour  awarded - for 'the most conspicuous bravery or some daring or per-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy whether on land, at sea or in the air.'

The decoration is made of bronze and is circular in shape. It has, on the obverse, four replicas of 'indra's vajra', embossed round the state emblem in the center. On the reverse, the words 'Param Vir Chakra' are embossed both in Hindi and in English with lotus flower in the middle. The medal is worn on the left breast with a plan purple colored ribbon. When only the ribbon is worn it has miniature replica of the 'Vajra' stitched on it.

The Award carries a monetary allowance of Rs.1500 per month and an equal amount per month for each bar.

Maha Vir Chakra (MVC)

This is second highest decoration and is awarded for 'an act of conspicuous gallantry in the presence of the enemy whether on land, in sea or in the air.'

It is made of Standard Silver and is circular in shape. Embossed on the obverse is a five pointed star with a domed centerpiece bearing the gilded state emblem in a circle in the center. On the reverse, the words , 'Mahavir Chakra' are embossed both in Hindi and in English with two lotus flowers in the middle. The medal is worn on the left breast with a half white and half saffron ribbon with the saffron stripe nearer to the left shoulder.

It carries a Monitory allowance of Rs.1200 per month and an equal amount per month for each bar.

Vir Chakra (VrC)

This is the third in the order of awards and is given for 'an act of gallantry in the presence of the enemy whether on land, at sea or in the air.' 

The medal is made of standard silver and is circular in shape. Embossed on the obverse is a five pointed star which has an 'Ashoka Chakra' in the center. Within this chakra is a domed centerpiece bearing the gilded state emblem. On the reverse, the Word 'Vir Chakra' are embossed in Hindi and in English with two Lotus Flowers in the middle. The Vir Chakra is Worn on the left breast with a half blue and half saffron ribbon, the saffron stripe being nearest to the left shoulder.  

It carries monitory allowance of Rs.850 per month and an equal amount per month for each bar.
All members of the armed forces and civilian serving regularly or temporarily under the direction or supervision of any of the services are eligible for any of the three awards.

Ashoka Chakra (AC)

This decoration is awarded for the 'most Conspicious bravery or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice on land, at sea or in air.'

The medal is made of gilt gold and is circular in shape. Embossed on the observe is a replica of the Ashoka Chakra surrounded by a wreath of lotuses. Along the edge of the pattern of the lotus leaves, flowers and buds. On the reverse the words 'Ashoka Chakra' are embossed in both Hindi and English with lotus Flower in the intervening space. It is worn on the left breast with a green colored silk ribbon divided into two equal parts by a saffron vertical line. 

It carries a monetary allowance of Rs.1400 per month and an equal amount per month for each bar.

Kirti Chakra (KC)

The decoration is awarded for 'an act of Conspicuous gallantry '

It is made of standard silver and is circular in shape. The obverse and reverse are exactly the same as in the case of the AC. On the reverse are embossed the words 'Kirti Chakra' both in Hindi and English. The Chakra is worn on the left breast with a green colored Silk ribbon and divided into three parts by two saffron vertical lines.

It carries a monetary allowance of Rs.1050 and an equal amount per month for each bar. 

Shaurya Chakra

This decoration is awarded for 'an act of gallantry'

It is exactly like the other two medals except that it is made up of bronze and the words 'Shaurya Chakra' are embossed on the reverse. The medal is worn on the left breast with a green colored ribbon divided into four parts by three saffron colored ribbons.

It carries a Monetary allowance of Rs. 750 per month and an equal amount per month for each bar.

All citizens of India are eligible for the award of AC, KC and SC.

Indian Army Air Defense

Air Defense was a part of Regiment of Artillery till 1993, then it was formed into a separate corps and named as Corps of Army Air defense (AAD). The primary function of AAD is to work with Indian air force to safeguard the Sky of nation, there task is to protect the air space from enemy infringement.

These units also work along with Mechanized unit to strengthen their position at front posts.AAD mainly use air defense guns, surface to surface missiles, radars, communication equipments and other hardware's. Medical Examination Procedure in Service Selection Board(SSB)

After getting recommended in SSB interviews, candidates need to go through Medical Examination Procedure. As a candidate if you are thinking that getting recommended is enough then you need to give it a second thought as medical decides your entry in Indian military.

A medical examination Procedure is held at nearby Military Hospital and continues to 5 days.

Day 1

At Day 1 of Medical Examination, candidates undergo

 Dear Candidate, 

1.    We are pleased to inform that you are nominated to attend SSB interview for joining the Indian Military Academy/Officers Training Academy/ National Defence Academy/Naval Academy. Please quote this reference along with your Roll No in all future correspondence.

 2.    You are requested to report at Selection Centre __________ or at the Movement Control Office (MCO), Railway Station, ________ at _______ on the dates given at Para 3 below. Our representative will receive you and arrange your conveyance to the Selection Centre. 

 3.    You are required to report as under :-

    For ease of management and better administration of test, it is advised that you avail of the opportunity with the regular batch utilising the primary choice. 6. Testing.

This will last for five days, in two stages excluding the day of arrival. The details are as under:-

     (a)    Stage I.    The Stage I testing shall commence at 0630AM on the first day and will

     comprise the following:-

        (i)    An Intelligence Test. 

        (ii)    A Picture Perception and Discussion Test. 

    (b)    In case of your rejection in Stage I, you shall be returned from the Centre by 1 PM that day. 

    (c)    Stage II.    The Stage II test comprises the following for the next four days:- 

        (i)    Psychological Test. 

        (ii)    Group Test I and II for two days (In case of excess no. of Candidates, GTO Test

        may be conducted in one day) 

        (iii)    Interview.

 Free boarding and lodging will be provided to you for the period of your stay at the Selection Centre. 

    Joining instruction for your guidance and compliance are enclosed. 

    Please bring this letter with you and deposit the same at the Centre on arrival. 

    You are entitled to get traveling allowance in case you are coming to SSB for the first time for this entry. 

    Please note that no lunch will be provided by the Selection Centre on the day you report to the Selection Centre.

12. Medical Examination

    (a)    You should be physically fit and free from ailment or any health problem which may 

    hamper your performance in the physical test/interview. 

    (b)    In case you qualify in the Stage-II testing, you shall be required to undergo a Special                 Medical Board (SMB) over the next four to six days. In exceptional and                     unavoidable     circumstances, it may take up to eight days.   

    (c)    In your own interest you are advised to undergo a preliminary medical check-up for wax

    in ears, refractory error of eyes, fungal infections of skin, eosinophilia, knock knee and flat foot     or any other disease before reporting for SSB interview. 

Note :-

    In case you are found unfit in the SMB, you are eligible for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) within 42 days from the date of approval of the SMB. In case you are found unfit even in the AMB, a final appeal i.e. Review Medical Board (RMB) application has to be submitted within 24 hours of approval of the AMB. Grant of RMB is at the discretion of the Medical Authorities. For AMB candidates are required to prepare  a MRO of Rs 40/-. The original MRO receipt is required to be retained by the candidates to be submitted at the time of medical board at the requested Command Hospital. The duplicate copy of MRO along with copy of request for AMB is to be forwarded to Rtg Dte within 7 days. 

 13.    Candidates will adhere to laid down timings strictly. 

14.    Candidate will not visit testing areas after testing hours. 

15.    The conduct of the candidates both in the Selection Centre as well as when visiting outside areas should be correct and gentleman like. 

16.    Any contravention of above orders or any act of indiscipline will invite immediate cancellation of candidature on disciplinary grounds. 

17.    Cases of serious breach of discipline and conduct will be handed over to civil police and FIR registered accordingly. 

18.    Candidates are not permitted to use mobile phones during the conduct of tests.

2.    Cash and Valuables.   

A maximum of Rupees One thousand over and above what is required for travelling expense may be carried. No valuables should be carried. Safe custody of cash and valuables will be the responsibility of the candidate.

3.    Documents.   

Please bring the following certificates/documents at the time of reporting at this centre and adhere to instructions in regard to documentation given below :-

    (i)    Original Matric/Higher Secondary or equivalent certificate along with one     attested copy there of in support of your age. In case you fail to bring these     certificates in ORIGINAL, please note that you WILL NOT be allowed to appear for     SSB interview and NO REIMBURSEMENT of rail/bus fares/reservation-cum-sleeper     charges will be permitted. Please note that statement of Marks in lieu of original     ertificates or any other date of birth certificate is not acceptable. 

    (ii)    Original/Provisional degree from the University/Institution and marks sheet of     all the years/semesters along with a photocopy of each. 

    (iii)    Proof of identity with photograph such as voter ID (or ) PAN card (or)     driving license (or) passport (or) UPSC admit card. In case of candidates of     NDA/10+2 TES, they are required to bring certificate with photo issued by principal as proof of identity.   

     (iv)    In case the result of final year/semester is awaited, then the candidate will submit a certificate from the principal, stating that the result of final year will be     declared by ……………….. all these documents will be verified by selection     centre.( Appx ‘A’ )

    (v)    For final year students only- if you are studying in final year of degree     course, then please bring a certificate from the principal of your College/Institution stating that you are in final year of degree course and going to appear the final     examination during………….failing which you will not be interviewed by SSB     (Appx ‘B’).

    (vi)    Candidates who have submitted their certificates and marksheets in     college or institution for pursuing higher studies.         Please bring a bonafide     certificate along with certified true copy of those documents as per specimen attached     at (Appx ‘C’).

    (vii)    Risk Certificate Applicable to NDA and TES Candidates.    You will bring Risk     Certificate as per specimen attached as (Appx ‘D’).

    (viii)    Original NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Army/Navy/Airforce Wing) with one attested     copy, if competing against reserved vacancies for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders.

    (ix)    Bring certified copy duly authenticated/signed by the competent     authority of     every achievement you have obtained in the field of NCC, Games, sports and other extra curricular activities.

    (x)    Candidates declared successful in the SSB interview are required to     submit at the earliest a photocopy duly attested by Class-I Gazetted Officer of all     such provisional degree/degree certificate, acquired after the SSB     interview to : Addl Dte Gen Rtg, IHQ MoD (Army) West Block-III, R K Puram, New Delhi-110066.

    (xi)    Candidates are further advised that documents already verified at     Selection     Centre, need not be submitted again to IHQ MoD (Army). In case of loss of such     documents the onus will entirely rest with the     candidate.

    (xii)    Photographs – Please bring twenty copies of the latest passport size     photographs, unattested along with the negative in white shirt (not in coat)

4.    Travelling Allowance (TA).
    (a)    TA is admissible for the shortest route only.

     (b)    AC 3 Tier fare (including reservation-cum-sleeper charges) by main route from 

    home station to Allahabad/Bangalore/Bhopal and bus fare from home to the nearest 

    railway station (if not connected by rail) will be paid as per government rates on 

    production of tickets. 

    (c)    No re-imbursement of rail/bus fares/ reservation-cum-sleeper charges will be permitted 

    in the absence of original travel documents. 

    (d)    You are entitled to TA when you attend the interview for a commission for the first time. 

    Such allowance is not admissible for second or subsequent attempts for the same type of     commission.

Caution

   You are liable to forfeit travelling allowance if you fail to :-

     (a)    Meet the eligibility criteria and educational qualifications as required.

     (b)    Produce the original documents as given in the instructions.

     (c)    Produce ID proof as mentioned at Para 8 above.

 5.    Change of address
change of address, if any, after submission of application will be intimated to Additional Directorate General of Recruiting (Rtg-6), Adjutant General’s Branch, IHQ of MoD Army Headquarters, West Block-III, R.K.Puram, New Delhi-900108, C/o 56 APO and this centre. (Appx ‘E’)

6.    Warning 
A candidate should withhold his move if he is a resident of Bangalore/Bhopal/ Allahabad, his permanent address is Bangalore/Bhopal/Allahabad or has a relative/friend serving in the selection centre or his unit is located in Bangalore/Bhopal/Allahabad (Serving candidates only) and intimate this centre immediately the particulars of the person concerned and await further instructions. Any attempts made by candidates, their relatives or friends to influence the members of Services Selection Board in their favour either verbally or in writing will result in his name being removed from the list of candidates. In all matters of discipline, the Centre Commandant will be the final authority and no appeal against his decision will be entertained.

 7.  Compensation 
Government  is not responsible for any compensation to the candidates or to their guardians/heirs for injuries sustained by them during the period of testing. However, facilities exist to attend to the candidates falling sick or sustaining injuries during their stay at the Centre.

8.    Correspondence   
 In all correspondence please quote this letter No and date, UPSC Roll No/Name of the Entry/registration number and full postal address. Email + Contact Number.

9.    Service personnel only 
 In case you are already serving in the Army/Navy/Air Force, this letter will be put up to your Officer Commanding and your move in connection with this interview will be treated as temporary duty under the provision of TR-192 (f) (ii). As such you will bring return journey railway warrant for your journey. You are required to bring one set of uniform.

 10.    For information of Officer Commanding Unit.
     (a)    In case the candidate has been posted out of your Unit please forward this letter to his 

    present unit immediately, under intimation to his Centre. 

    (b)    Copies of movement order and DO Part II will not be endorsed to this Centre, Separate 

    movement order will be issued to every individual required to report to this Centre.   

     (c)    In case the individual cannot present himself for interview, this Centre should be 

    informed immediately. 

    (d)    No Arms and Ammunition will be carried by the candidate. 

    (e)    Please advice the candidate to bring two passport size photographs. 

    (f)    Candidates will be in possession of free return railway warrant and Identity Card. 

    (g)    Apprise Selection Centre immediately in case you are at a local unit.

11.    Physical conditioning
Candidates who qualify the SSB interview and medical examination are advised to follow the under mentioned regimen daily in order to keep themselves in good physical condition at the time of reporting at the Academy.- 

    (a)    Running 2.4 Kms in 15 Minutes 

    (b)    Sit ups-25 

    (c)    Push ups-13 

    (d)    Chin ups (minimum 06) 

    (e)    Rope Climbing (3 to 4 Meters)

12.    Candidate reporting for their SSB should take care of the following medical points failing which he/she is liable for rejection :-

     (a)    Ideal Age, Height and Weight (Male) :- It should be within permissible limits i.e. 10% 

    of the ideal weight given in the table. In recording fraction lower than 0.5 Kg will be noted and 

    0.5Kg, above will be recorded as 1 Kg. a correlation table between age, height and average

INS Chakra2 - Nuclear Submarine of India

On 4 April 2012, Nuclear submarine INS Chkra (Nerpa) joined Indian Navy. After the gap of 20 years India became 6th nation to have a Nuclear Submarine in its Fleet; other 5 nations are US, Russia, China, France and England. A welcome party was organized at Visakhapatnam with Defense minister A.K.Antony as Chief guest. 

Indian Navy is now eagerly waiting for India  made INS Arihant to join the team of Nuclear Submarines.

A full fleet of Indian Navy officers has been trained to command INS Chakra2 at a undisclosed base in Saint-Peters burg.

How to Join territorial Army

Age - 18 to 42 years

Qualification - Graduation

Joining Territorial army is a wonderful opportunity to join Indian army for already working men.  Working community from Private and Public sector or self employees can apply for Territorial army. The most important document required is No Objection certificate from the related company.

After submitting the form, candidates need to go through a written test.

Written exam following two sections: 

A. Section 1 comprise two parts on subjects dealing with nation/international issues 

            1.  PART 1         will consist essay in English.

            2.  PART 2          will consist short answers in English.

B.   section 2 will consists of objective type question in current affairs and all subjects.

Important Tips:

Candidates would bring their own writing material.

Result of written exam showing successful candidate will be declared at Territorial Army group headquarters (building no 750, sector- 8B, Chandigarh) on Feb. 2012 at 0900 hrs. the successful candidate of written examination would be require to appear for the interview at 0800 hours onward on 14 Feb. to 16 Feb. 2012 at this headquarters.

Your application has been provisionally accepted. All original certificate including matriculation, +2, bachelor’s degree mentioned in the advertisement should be produced by the candidate at the time of interview along with following document.

(a) Attested graduation certificate/mark sheet of part 1 part 2 and part 3.

(b) Attested copies of metric certificate (for verification of father name and date of birth).

(c) Self employed candidate or having own business are require to submit an affidavit on non- judicial stamp paper value of Rs 10/- duly attested by deputy commissioner of the district/gazette officer/commissioned officer stating nature of self employment and income earned annually with attested photocopy of the latest income tax return field in case field by the applicant along with photocopy of the PAN cad, if available.

(d) No objection certificate from employer.

(e) Copies of income tax (IT) return in case the candidate exceeds Rs 1.60 lack along with attested photocopy of PAN card.

(f) An affidavit from notary public in case the NOK is other than father mother, brother, sister, wife and children.

(g) Medical fitness cert duly signed by register MBBS doctor.

(h) Three coloured recent pass port size photographs.

(i) In case of variation in name /date of birth affidavit duly attested by executive magistrate / notary and copies of advertisement in newspaper.

Proof of latest residence / domicile certificate/ identity.No TA/DA will be admissible. Candidate will make their own arrangement for journey and stay.

Candidates recommended by preliminary interview board (PIB) will receive their call letter from army headquarters giving details of the date and time to appear before the service selection board at various centers.

In addition to the above candidate employed in central govt. / semi govt. are requested to bring salary certificate and NO objection certificate duly signed by the head of department. Candidates employed in private sector are requested to bring registration number of company, salary slip and No objection certificate. Self employed are requested to bring affidavit on ten rupee stamp paper duly signed by Executive magistrate / Tehsildar regarding proof of income and nature of employment.

If the candidate pass in written exam and fails to provide necessary documents regarding his employment as mentioned above, his candidature will treated as null.

2. In Allahabad a group of boys visited a mall and planned to buy movie tickets, they were all finished their interview and wearing formal dresses with ties.

3. During Ground tasks a candidate was struggling in command task, the GTO was getting frustrated.

    Candidate after many attempts: Please tell me sir where to place this plank?

4. A guy was very confident that he will be the best dressed person during Conference .

Indian army will soon invite candidates for SSB interviews . Most of you  must have started the preparations, this post will help those candidates who will get Bhopal as their SSB center.

Bhopal

Bhopal, the city of lakes, is capital of MadhyaPardesh. M.P. is the most important middle Indian state, most of its area is plateau hence farming is not that popular. Major tourist attractions of Bhopal are; Sanchi, Ujjain and Kanha.

But for SSB candidates easy in reach places are Taj Udal mosque, Upper lake and lower lake.

How to reach Bhopal SSB Center

By Air

Bhopal is connected to all major cities by Air, Airlines which provide services in Bhopal are:

SSB Schedule In Bhopal

Reporting Day, Day 0

Candidates need to gather at Bhopal Railway station around 2 pm outside the junction no.1. But the army buses always arrive late. Actually those are not army buses but hired local travel buses. The Bhopal SSB center is a treat to eyes, it is undoubtedly the best SSB center in architecture. 

Candidates keep their belongings into a room and gather for document Check. There is no document Checking in Allahabad but Bhopal is different. They will demand following Documents:

10th mark sheet and passing certificate
12th mark sheet and passing certificate
All graduation mark sheets and Degree certificate.
If you have not got the degree certificate from college then show your Provisional mark sheet.
Interview call letter or admit card

If a candidate fails to present all above certificates then he asked to leave center at that evening only (No matter from which part of country you came, you have to leave the center).

Then comes the Personal Inquiry Form which candidates need to fill by best of their knowledge as most of your Interview Questions depends upon this Form.

Screening Test, Day1

The test actually begins this day and candidates are subdivided into the groups of 15 each. Candidates then go through a easy Aptitude test. Aptitude tests are usually easy but never take it lightly. Aptitude test then followed by a Picture Perception and Discussion test. 

Here you will be shown a hazy picture and asked to write a short story after deciding the main characters. The group then discuss the story after individually narrating it.

They usually take around 40 students out of the bunch so if you are the lucky one then you have a good percentage to succeed. 

Psychological Test, Day2

Also called the longest day of SSB as candidates undergo a long series of tests. The tests are so designed (by DRDO experts) that they fetch the real personality of you. You ultimately write everything about you with your own hands, Expert Psychologists analyze these tests and mark your character accordingly.

These Tests Consist of 
12 Picture perception tests (12th is a blank one)
60 Word Association Tests
60 Situation Reaction Tests
5 Self Describing Paragraphs 

When day ends you hardly get time to go out but you can enjoy other facilities inside like Canteen, War museum and sports room.

Physical Test, Day3

Third day is for Physical Activities and all candidates join their GTO's in grounds. White T shits, P.T. Shoes and While Nikkas are expected to wear and ultimately leaves a fair expression. Candidates undergo these following tasks.

Individual Obstacle

Half Group task
Final Group task
Command task

The day ends with GTO's word and candidates return to take rest. During Day 2 and 3 some of the candidates got interviewed by President and Depute President. 

Interviews, Day4

Interview day for remaining candidates to represent their candidature for the one last time. Please read important Tips for SSB interview and Common SSB Interview Questions for better preparation.

Conference, Day5

Last day of SSB know as Conference day as all individual officers associated with SSB interview gather to discuss about each candidate. Candidates are called for one last time in front of whole board. Candidates are advised to wear their best attires that day. 

Around 3 pm the results came out with a speech of Deputy President and successful candidates are asked to  stay while others move out with much determination and new Dreams.
