Hur svårt ska det vara att vara konsekvent!

Enligt mer eller mindre alla guider och tips jag hittade på nätet så stämde inte nån med min telefon.

Första tipset var att hålla ner vänster och höger knapp (under skärmen) samtidigt som man startar telefonen. Fungerade inte speciellt bra, det var inte ens en soft reset, jag hamnade i något slags felsäkert läge och alla mina konton, inställningar och appar var kvar.

Tips nummer två jag hittade var att gå in under SD-kort och telefonlagring för att hitta valet Återställ standardinställning, och där har jag för övrigt tidigare hittat inställningen på andra Android-telefoner. Men på den här telefonen fanns alltså inte något sådant alternativ alls.

Men till slut... när jag försökte ta bort mitt Google-konto manuellt och telefonen sa ifrån eftersom jag var tvungen att återställa min telefon för att få bort kontot. Då "tipsades" jag samtidigt om att jag kunde hitta inställningen under Sekretess och Återställ standardinställning... Och där var det ju!

Globalization - svårt att komma ihåg

Att det ska vara så svårt att komma ihåg! Jag har stött på problemet flera gånger, ändå krävs det en hel del letande och Googlande för att hitta felet.

Problemet var Encoding och Decoding av parameter input via URL från en ASP.NET site till en vanlig enkel .asp sida. Jag testade en hel del varianter med charsets och coding hit och dit innan jag hittade den självklara lösningen.

Efter detta i web.config så fungerade URLerna med hämtande av parameter via request() i .asp precis som det var tänkt ;) Annars defaultas request och responseEncoding till UTF-8, och det var ju det jag inte vill ha!

Orphaned users in MSSQL

After a restore of database the users often is orphaned.

To solv this I usually run the following two queries:

1. sp_change_users_login Report - query to find the users
2. sp_change_users_login auto_fix, <orphaned_user_name> - query to fix the orphaned user

Hitta .NET-tema i javascript?

Jag ville lägga till en bild dynamiskt beroende på vilket tema som var valt på en site. Letade lite men hittade inget smidigt sätt att direkt från javascript hitta rätt theme sökväg.

Ett sätt att lösa problemet var att hitta vilket aktivt tema genom att helt enkelt inte lägga javascriptet i en .js-fil utan istället lägga scriptet i en .aspx och genom <%= Page.Theme %> generera rätt sökväg till bilden direkt i javascriptet.

Någon som har något annat smidigt sätt att komma åt vilken App_Themes-katalog bilden ska hämtas ifrån?

Great!

No big deal setting up a samplesite on Windows 7. Some small things had to be made to get the installation through.

Windows funktioner:
* Microsoft .NET Framework
* Internet Information Services with ASP.NET
(Since I was on a swedish machine I hade to copy the directory 'sv' to a duplicate named 'EN' c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\SQL\, guess there still are some bugs in the EPi-installer)

In SQL Server 2008 Express:
* Enable Named Pipes and TCP/IP protocol
* Set automatic start of SQL Server Browser service

I installed the SQL Server 2008 with Microsoft Web Platform Installer.

Now the site is up, let's see how developing works out.

Alter sort order in EPiServer

Just a quick one. To programatically alter or set the sort order of a page in EPiServer you can do like this:

PageData pageClone = page.CreateWritableClone();

pageClone["PageChildOrderRule"] = EPiServer.Filters.FilterSortOrder.Alphabetical;

Alfresco - setup a test environment

Alfresco is not that easy to configure! There are lots of settings in a whole bunch of direcotories and files! So how do I set up this to use AD login?

So I thought I'd share with you a quick way to set up a test environment. This is probably not the best solution for a permanent setup. Anyway, here are the steps to follow:

Install Win 2003 and connect it to your domain.

Download and install the free Alfresco-Communit-2.3-Full-Setup from http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Download_Community_Edition.

Change in file C:\Alfresco\tomcat\shared\classes\alfresco-global-properties

Change from authentication.chain=alfrescoNtlm1:alfrescoNtlm to authentication.chain=alfrescoNtlm1:alfrescoNtlm,passthru1:passthru

Change in file C:\Alfresco\tomcat\webapps\alfresco\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\subsystems\Authentication\passthru\passthru-authentication-context.properties

Set passthru.authentication.useLocalServer to true.
Set passthru.authentication.domain to your domain.

Change in file C:\Alfresco\tomcat\webapps\alfresco\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\subsystems\Authentication\passthru\ntlm-filter.properties

Set ntlm.authentication.sso.enabled to false.

Finally start Alfresco Server through the start menu and enter http://hostname:8080/alfresco after the Tomcat console window has printed the text Server startup in xxxxxx ms.

Upgrade EPiServer from 4.61 tol 4.62

Now it's time to try to upgrade our EPiServer site! First bringing it up to 4.62 and after that to CMS 5.

First step went on with just a tiny problem "Failed to register ASP.NET client scripts on this site" that was quickly solved after following these instructions. In short: temporary rename the v3.0 and v3.5 folders in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework.

Now stepping on to the next greater level! Move to EPiServer CMS 5!

Upgrade Ubuntu distribution without graphical interface

I've just installed a base Ubuntu machine now, JEOS, really great thing when setting up a system in VMware. But anyway, what I thought of right now is how simple it was to update to next dist! I installed jeos-8.04-1 which was a Hardy dist which is a bit old. So I made a try to upgrade it. So here is a short list of the steps I took. (As root)

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
apt-get install joe (just to have a nice editor)
Open and edit /etc/apt/sources.list
Replace all hardy with intrepid everywhere
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
reboot

Then do the same thing if you want to upgrade to jaunty! Parhaps it works jumping right into jaunty, but I took it step by step.

Howto make an if statement in a job step in MSSQL

I ran into a little problem where I wanted to check a flag in a table to see if the sql job should be run or not.

I'm not sure if it's the right way or the nicest way to do this, but it works.

In the first step do:

if (SELECT count(*) FROM update WHERE ) = 0
begin
RAISERROR( 'Not ready to update.' , 16, 1 )
end

Set the On success to Goto next step (as default) to proceed with following job steps. You could set the On failure to Quit with success to avoid the errors in the history since it's an expected error that is raised.
