Orava on päättänyt pesiä pöntössä toistamiseen tänä kesänä. Poikaset ovat nyt noin parin päivän ikäisiä eivätkä liiku vielä paljoa. Seuraa toki poikasten kasvamista ja emon puuhia uudesta livestreamista youtubessa tai tähän päivitykseen liitetystä soittimesta.

Hydra

For a friends birthday he wished to get a nice hydra so i decided to paint him my hydra from Reaper Bones Miniatures and put it ona nice swampy base.

First i started with wondering how how to make the base so i got some cork and wonderered about how to put it on my selfmade base.

When i was satisfied with the result i glued it and painted it.
Then i added more stuff on the base like skulls, swords, dead trees and reed.
Also some sand for the shallow shores.

Then i started painting the hydra in a green with yellow back fin.

After i finished the hydra i added the still water from vallejo on the base and as it was dry ofc the hydra.

Orjatar näki tälläisen maaliruiskun puhdistusastian youtubessa ja halusi sellaisen maaliruiskulleen. Hän kysyi minulta jos pystyn tekemään hänelle sellaisen, joten keksin tavan tehdä sellaisen helposti. Materiaalit ovat käytännössä ilmaiset. Toki vastaavan voi ostaa myös 15-20 eurolla, mutta alkuun tälläinen käy ihan loistavasti. Rakentaminen otti aikaa noin 15 minuuttia.

Mitä tarvitset?

Tarvittavat esineet. Metallilangan pätkä ja kangaspala puuttuvat kuvasta.

Lasipurkki
Kindermunan sisus tai tyhjä muovipullo
Kangaspala tai vanulappu.
Pätkä tavallista- tai rautalankaa.
Tarvittaessa liimaa tai epoksia.

Työkalut:

Kolme työkalua.

Askarteluveitsi/sakset/puukko
Sivuleikkurit
Pieni ruuvimeisseli.

Vaihe 1

Aloita avaamalla kinder munan sisus ja leikkaa puolikkaat irti toisistaan valitsemallasi leikkuuvälineellä. Tarvitset vain isomman puoliskon, joten pienemmän voi heittää roskiin tai säästää tulevaisuuden projekteihin.

Puolikkaat eroteltuna

Vaihtoehtoisesti voit leikata pään irti tyhjästä muovipullosta ja poistaa toisen sivun.

Vaihe 2

Töki reikiä kindermunan puolikkaaseen ruuvarilla, satunnaisia reikiä satunnaisesti joka puolelle.

Terävä ruuvari menee helposti läpi pehmeästä muovista.

Tai mikäli käytät pulloa, töki reikiä korkkiin. Ekalla kerralla tiiviste yleensä lentää pois ja voit heittää sen roskiin.

Vaihe 3

Laita reijitetty puolikas kannen päälle reunaan, noin 5-10mm reunasta huomioiden lasipurkin reunan. Piirrä ympyrä kanteen tussilla tai naarmuta se ruuvarilla.


Ympyrän ei tarvitse olla mitenkään täydellinen.

Jos käytät pulloa, käytä pullon suuaukkoa ilman korkkia ympyrän piirtämiseen.

Vaihe 4

Töki ympyrän viivaa myöten reikiä ruuvarilla. Koeta pitää reikien ulkoreuna viivan sisäreunan kanssa tasan.

Tökitään lisää reikiä.

Kun kaikki reijät on tehty, kannen tulisi näyttää jotakuinkin tältä.

Vaihe 5

Leikkaa reikien väliin jäänyt metalli sivuleikkureilla irroittaaksesi keskipalan. Pihtien terävyydestä ja koosta riippuen saatat joutua auttamaan irroitusta ruuvarilla.

Vaihe 6

Nyt on aika laittaa kinderin puolikas kannesta läpi. Vain se reunus joka muuten tulisi pienemmän puolikkaan sisään menee kannesta läpi. Riippuen kuinka reijän teko onnistui, saatat joutua taivuttamaan reunoja sisäänpäin pihdeillä tai viilaamaan niitä, mikäli villa on käytettävissä. Kun puolikas on läpi kannesta saatat joutua käyttämään liimaa tai epoksia rakojen täyttämiseen.

Vaihtoehtoisesti käytä pullon suun kierteitä ruuvataksesi se kanteen.

Poista loputkin sinetistä ja ruuvaa korkki tiukasti paikalleen.

Vaihe 7.

Estääksemme maalihuurujen leviämisen laitamme filtterikankaan tai vanulapun kinderin puolikkaan sisään.

Vanulappu


Survottuna kinderin puolikkaaseen

Vanulappu pullossa. Sopi niin tiukasti, ettei se tarvinnut metallilankaa pitämään sitä paikallaan.

Kinderinpuolikkaaseen saatat joutua kiinnittämään filtterimateriaalin langan tai rautalangan avulla. Tökkäät langan läpi kankaan alapuolelta ja teet solmun tai kierrät langan päät yhteen.

Vaihe 8

Jälleen käytä ruuvaria tökkimään reikiä. Nyt reikä tehdään vastakkaiselle puolelle kinderin puolikasta tai pullonkorkkia. Reijän pitää olla sopiva jotta maaliruiskun pää mahtuu siitä läpi. Tein 4 reikää neliön muotoon ja poistin keskeltä metallin sivuleikkureilla.

Viimeiset reijät tähän.

Valmis

Ja purkki on valmis käyttöön. Ei näytä välttämättä parhaalta mahdolliselta, mutta pitäisi toimia juuri kuten kaupallisenkin tuotteen. Käytin askarteluveitsen vartta simuloidakseni maaliruiskua.

Shooting: CalibrGun Cricket 5.5mm / .22cal

And shooting continues. Same target as last time No.11 Air rifle target. Airgun is CalibrGun Cricket in 5.5mm / .22cal. Distance is again 10 meters and pellet used on all shots is Daystate Rangemaster 14.3gr/0.93g lead pellet.

First group of five shots got grouped nicely in the middle. Sadly time from last shooting has worn of some of the skill and the hurry i had when i was shooting did not give me so good results. I'm not totally happy about the sizes of the group since you can get 5 pellets into nearly same hole when you concentrate enough. Best group i've gotten with 5 pellets is around 8mm. (using 5.5mm pellets)

Shots again aimed at the center and to the six above. Totally nicely on the other sides of the center line. Size of the group is ok.

Later one bit smaller. I bet the scope would work so much better with longer distance.

To the sheet metal Cricket does nice dents. Lead pellets are too soft to penetrate.

Dents on the metal on both sides. At some point i will get steel tipped GAMO rocket style pellets for this caliber too and try sooting the metal again.

I also took video to compare the sounds of GAMO Hunter 1250 and CalibrGun Cricket. Sadly the sound loudness is not so apparent on the video as it would be in real world but you can still hear the difference. Camera is around 50cm from the side of the camera.

Next week we'll shoot with the big guns. SamYang Dragon Claw at 12.7mm / .50cal.

Ja ammunnat jatkuvat. Sama taulu kuin viimeksi No.11 Ilmakivääritaulu ja aseena CalibrGun Cricket 5.5mm kaliiperillä. Matkalta 10 metriä ja luotina kaikissa Daystate Rangemaster 14.3gr/0.93g lyijyluoti.

Ensimmäisen viiden sarjan laukaukset osuivat hyvään ryppääseen keskelle, valitettavasti edellisestä ammunnasta kulunut aika on vähän ruostuttanut tarkkuutta, sekä tein ammunnat aika kiireessä. Täysin tyytyväinen en ryppäiden kokoon ole, sillä viisi luotia saa menemään lähes samasta reijästä 10 metrin matkalta kun jaksaa keskittyä, pienin rypäs taitaa itsellä olla noin 8mm. (5.5mm luodilla)

Laukaukset jälleen tähdättynä keskelle ja ylä kutoseen. Hienosti menivät eri puolille taulun keskilinjaa. Ryppään koko on kuitenkin ihan siedettävä.

Jälkimmäinen vielä vähän pienempi. Kiikari varmasti toimisi vielä paremmin vähän pidemmältä matkalta.

Peltiin Cricketti teeke aika hyvän oloisia klommoja. Lyijyluodit vaan ovat liian pehmeitä mennäkseen läpi.

Klommot pellin kummaltakin puolen. Jossain vaiheessa hankin jotain teräskärkisiä GAMO rocket tyyppisiä luoteja tällekin kaliiperille ja koetan samaan materiaaliin uudestaan.

Kuvasinpa jatkoksi vielä videon tuosta laukauksien äänen erosta GAMO Hunter 1250:n ja CalibrGun Cricketin välillä. Vaikka äänen voimakkuutta on vaikeampi videolta havaita kuin luonnossa se tulee kyllä ilmi. Kamera on noin 50cm päässä aseen vieressä.

Ensi viikolla ammutaankin sitten järeällä kalustolla. Vuorossa 12.7mm SamYang Dragon Claw!

Cheap and fast airbrush cleaning pot.

Orjatar saw device like this on youtube video and wanted one for her new airbrush. She asked me if i can make one and tell her how to make on too so i figured a way to do it. It's simple and basically free. You can buy one for around 15-20€ but for starters this does just well. Whole build took me around 15 minutess or less.

What you need.

Required parts. Missing Cloth and piece of wire.

Glass Jar
Kinder egg toy cover or empty bottle
piece of cloth / cotton swab
piece of wire or string
Glue/Epoxy (Optional)

Tools required.

Tools.

Cutter/scissors/knife
Side cutting pliers
Small screwdriver

Step 1

Take the kinder egg toy cove. Open it and cut the halves together with your tool of choice. We are only going to use the bigger piece so you can throw the smaller piece away or put it waiting for future projects.

Alternatively empty bottle cut the head off and then remove other side of the bottle.

Step 2

Take the screwdriver and start poking holes to the bigger piece. Random holes randomly all around the thing.

Sharp screwdriver goes through the soft plastic easily.

Or poke holes to the cap. First time you go through also the seal usually fly away, you don't need it

Step 3

Put the half you just poked full of holes on top of the glass jar lid pretty close to the edge (5-10mm off from the edge) and draw a circle around it. You can use the screwdriver to scratch the surface of the lid or pen.


Doesn't need to be too perfect.

On bottle method you want to use the mouth of the bottle, cap removed.

Step 4

Using the screwdriver, poke holes around the inside of the circle you just made. Trying to keep the inner edge of holes on the line.

Time to poke more holes.

And you should end up having holes in circle when you are done.

Step 5

Take the cutting pliers and cut off between all the holes so you can free the piece in the middle. Depending how small and sharp your cutters are you can cut it straight away or you might need to help with screwdriver bending upwards later.

We have a hole.

Step 6

Now it's time to put the kinder egg half partially through the lid, only the part that would go inside the other half. Depending how your hole is it might be bit tight so you might need to bend the edges inside using the side of pliers or if you have a file you can file the edges smoother. When you get it in place it should look something like this. If you have gaps along the edge now you can use some glue or epoxy to fill those in.

Remove rest of the sealing ring from the cap and screw it in place tightly.

Step 7

Now we need to make the filter to stop most of the paint vapor flying around. Take your piece of cloth or cotton swab and shove it inside the kinder half.

Cloth in the bottle Was tight enough for not needing the securing thread.

And then you need to secure the cloth so it doesn't fall so easy. Put piece of wire/string through the egg half under the cloth and make a knot/twist on the outside.

Step 8

Using the screwdriver poke more holes to match the size of the tip of your airbrush. I made square formation of 4 holes and removed the piece with pliers.

Here comes the hole.

Finished

Now you are done with the airbrush cleaning jar. Doesn't look the best but it should work just well. I used my crafts cutter to simulate the airbrush since i don't have mine here.

Now go and have fun.

Shooting: Gamo Hunter 1250 .177cal

Following previous weeks airgun introductions are followed by shooting. As targets i have No11 air rifle targets and distance about 10m. I would like to shoot also longer distances like 25-, 50-and 100-meters but sadly this is not possible because of the limitations of space. First we'll use GAMO Hunter 1250 .177cal / 4.5mm air rifle.

Haven't shot with gamo for a long time, Scope needed some adjustment.

First group of five shots aimed in the middle. Scope shows bit too much up and left. I raised it up by three clicks. Size of group is smaller than 20mm.

Next five shots i shot more up, around the six on the target so the holes doesn't mix up. Scope would require bit more adjusting but i did not want to spend the rest of the evening with that. the group size is still less than 20mm.

Aiming points and hits on the target. Two holes on up right are my failed tries to take high speed video at 480fps and 240fps. On the left there are couple holes from pellet fragments.

Next target is more interresting. 0.75mm sheet metal piece i cut to fit the size for the target holder. I will use same piece for all the air rifles so thats why there are the lines. Two shots with each pellet. Pro magnum, rocket and lethal.

First two shots with Pro magnum lead pellets. They won't go through the sheet metal but make a good dent on it.

Next two shots with Gamo Rocket pellets. They go through the metal with not much struggle.

Last two shots with Gamo Lethal and they have no problem going through.

Closer inspection of the holes from the pellet travel direction.

From the other side it's visible that how much easier fast lethal pellets went through the metal.

Like mentioned on the introduction Hunter 1250 is not the most accurate air rifle. There is alot of power and with proper pellets alot of penetration. Gamo Lethal pellets are accurate and lead free so good choice for the Eco-person.

Next air rifle will be CalibrGun Cricket and last will be SamYang Dragon Claw. (because it will destroy the metal piece for good.

Edellisten viikkojen ilmakivääriesittelyjä seuraa ammunnat. Tauluna on No11 ilmakivääritaulu ja matkana kaikilla noin 10m. Haluaisin myös ampua pidemmiltä matkoilta esim 25- ,50- ja 100-metriä mutta valitettavasti tilanpuutteesta johtuen tämä ei onnistu. Ensimmäisenä ammuntavuorossa on GAMO Hunter 1250 4.5mm ilmakivääri.

Pitkään aikaan ei Gamolla olekkaan tullut ammuttua ja kiikari kaipaisi vähän kohdistusta.

Ensimmäinen viiden laukauksen grouppi tähdättynä keskelle. Vähän näyttää liian ylös ja vasemmalle. Säädin tähtäintä kolme naksua ylöspäin. Groupin koko alle 20mm.

Seuraavat viisi laukausta ja tähtäys nyt kutosen kohdalle ylemmäs tauluun, jottei reijät mene sekasin. Edelleen vaatisi säätöä, mutta en sen enempää jaksanut alkaa nysväämään.Groupin koko edelleen alle 20mm.

Tähtäyspisteet ja osumat tauluun. Kaksi reikää ylhäällä oikealla ovat yrityksistä kuvata high speed videota 480fps ja 240fps, mutta ne epäonnistuivat valonpuutteen takia, vasemmalla on muutama pienempi reikä jotka ovat tulleet roiskeista kun luodit osuivat taulutelineen takaseinään.

Seuraavana kiinostavampi kohde. 0.75mm paksu pelti. Leikkasin palan jotta se sopii tuohon taulutelineeseen ja aijon käyttää samaa palaa myös myöhemmin muille ilmakoille. Tästä syystä pelti on jaettu kolmeen osaan. Kaksi laukausta jokaisella luodilla. Pro magnum, rocket ja lethal.

Ensimmäiset kaksi laukausta Pro magnum lyijyluodeilla. Ei läpäise peltiä. Tekee kyllä hyvän kokoisen klommon.

Toiset kaksi laukausta. Gamo Rocket luodilla. Kummatkin menivät heittämällä pellistä läpi.

Viimeiset kaksi laukausta Gamo Lethaleilla ja heittämällä läpi pellistä.

Lähempi tarkastelu reijille luotien menosuunnasta.

Toiselta puolelta peltiä näkyy miten paljon helpommin nopeat Lethalit menivät pellistä läpi.

Reijät sekä eri luodit toka siitä kohdasta meni läpi.

Kuten mainittu esittelypostauksessa, Hunter 1250 ei ole tarkin ilmakko, tehoa siinä kyllä on ja läpäisyvoimaa oikeilla luodeilla. Lethalit ovat tarkkoja sekä lyijyttömiä eli eko-ihmisen unelma.

Seuraavana on vuorossa CalibrGun Cricket ja viimeisenä Lohikäärmeen kynsi, eli SamYang Dragon Claw. (nimittäin se tulee tuhoamaan pellin lopullisesti.)

Elämää linnunpöntössä / Life in the birdhouse.

Ensimmäiset asunnonetsijät ovat jo käyneet kurkistamassa miltä kameralla varustetun linnunpöntön sisällä näyttää, mutta vakiasukasta ei vielä ole ilmaantunut. Toistaiseksi orava ja talitiaiset ovat sitä käyneet kurkkimassa. Katsotaan kuka pönttöön muuttaa. Uppailen videoita visiiteistä Youtubeen sitä mukaan kun pöntössä käydään. Ilmakivääri KalibrGun Cricket Bullpup 5.5mm / .22cal

KalibrGun Cricket Bullpup ilmakivääri on kolmas ja uusin hankintani. Ase on kaliiperiltaan 5.5mm tai .22. Ase on paineilmatoiminen, eli aseen paineilmasäiliöön pumpataan paine, jonka jälkeen ase on käyttövalmis. Painetta Crickettiin voi pumpata 300bar asti, mutta oma pumppuni ei valitettavasti kykene kuin 250barin. Ase on reguloitu, eli jokainen laukaus lähtee haluttua vauhtia siitä huolimatta oliko säiliössä 200 vai 300 bar painetta. Yhdellä täytöllä ampuu helposti kahdeksan rullaa tyhjäksi. Yhden rullan koko on 14 luotia, joten tämä tarkoittaa yli 112 laukausta per täyttö.

Rullat ja luodit

Airgun KalibrGun Cricket Bullpup 5.5mm / .22cal

KalibrGun Cricket Bullpup my third and newest purchased airgun. It's 5.5mm or .22 cal. It works with air pressure meaning you pump the air cylinder full and then you are ready to shoot. You can pump up to 300bar into this gun, sadly my pump is only capalbe reaching about 250bar. Air pressure in the gun is regulated meaning that all shots leave the barrel at the same speed even if the pressure varies. With one filling you can shoot 8 "magazines" empty. Size of one magazine is 14 pellets so this means over 112 shots per filling.

Specs of the gun. Made in Czech republic. Caliber and maximum pressure also mentioned. One pellet magazine in the picture on the left.

Charging handle on the top and magazine locking mechanism under it. There is place for 4 magazines on the stock.

Gun without the bipod which i had to make hole for strap knob that required drilling. Bipod is harris style and i got it from Ebay.

Scope

Scope is Vector Optics Pacer 3-9x40 that i got with the Samyang dragon claw. It is incredibly accurate.

Magazines and pellets.

One magazine holds 14 pellets and there is no rate of fire limit as long as you are fast.

I have gotten some different pellets that are all solid lead. Not much difference other than the shaping.

Air rifle Sam Yang Dragon Claw 12.7mm / .50cal

Sam YangDragon Claw. Second airgun i've purchased and my first PCP-gun.(PCP = Pre Charged Pneumatic) Because who would always want to shoot small .177/.22cal bullets when you can just as well shoot some .50cal bullets. And it's true. Really half inch or 12.7mm diameter bullets, leaving from the barrel of an air rifle over 200m/s or 680fps doing over 300 joules of force at the barrel. This is comparable to .22 rimfire rifles, though they have smaller bullet size with same force they have better penetration.

These Big Bore airrifles have smallish userbase since bullets are not cheap, 0.5-1€ each and the airgun itself is nearly 900€ in finland. In finland they are used mostly for plinking and shooting siluets 25, 50, 75 and 100m/yard of distance. On Youtube you can find videos of such siluet shooting. Outside finland they are used also for hunting for example wild boars. In finland you need a permission to purchase / own the airgun.

There is more than enough kick in the gun and the sound of it is comparable to hunting rifle, so it's totally not a backyard gun. Also backstop material must be strong so the bullets won't go through it and destroy something from behind. For example 50mm/1 inch concrete tile broke after around 25 shots. For myself i made backstop out of 8mm thick I-beam. With custom made steel bullets rifle still makes big dent into the steel that can be felt on the both sides of the steel.

Finishing on the gun is totally nice, silky smooth wooden stock and engraving on the metal parts looks great.

Made in Korea. Not in the china.

Charging handle on the left side of the gun. Two choices for the power half and full. With full power and full air cylinder you get 7 shots.

Sam YangDragon Claw. Toinen hankkimani ilma-ase ja ensimmäinen PCP-aseeni. (PCP = Pre Charged Pneumatic, Esitäytettävä paineilma.) Koska kukapa haluaisi aina ampua pieniä 4.5/5.5mm luoteja kun voi hyvin pistää tauluun myös isoja 12.7mm reikiä. Kyllä yli sentin halkaisijan lyijyluoteja ilmakivääristä reilun 200m/s lähtönopeudella luoden piipnsuulta yli 300 joulen iskuvoiman. Tämä vastaa pienoiskiväärin tehoa. (Pienoiskiväärillä pienempi luoti jossa samalla iskuvoimalla myös parempi läpäisevyys.)

Näillä Bir Bore ilmakivääreillä on pienehkö käyttäjäkunta sillä ampuminen ei ole mitenkään halpaa, luodit ovat 0.5-1€ kappale eikä asekkaan 900€ hinnalla ole halpa. Näillä ammutaan esimerkiksi siluettiammuntaa 25, 50,75 ja 100m matkalta. Esimerkkiä siluettiammunnasta löytyy Youtubesta. Ulkomailla kyseistä asetta käytetään myös esimerkiksi villisian metsästykseen. Kyseinen ase on Suomessa nykyään luvanvarainen hankittava.

Potkua aseesta löytyy vaikka muille jakaa ja laukaistessa ääni vastaa melkein metsästyskivääriä, joten takapiha-ammuntaan tänä ei sovellu. Myöskin taustan pitää olla kestävää materiaalia, jottei luodit mene siitä läpi ja tuhoa mitään takanaan. Esimerkiksi 50mm paksu betonilaatta hajosi jo alta 25 laukauksen. Tein itselleni 8mm paksusta I-Palkista taustan ja taulupidikkeen jotta varmasti kestää. Custom teräsluodeilla tähänkin 8mm teräkseen tulee hyvän kokoinen klommo joka on havaittavissa kummaltakin puolelta.

Aseen viimeistely on nättiä, silkin hieno puinen tukki sekä metalliosien kaiverrukset ovat silmiä hivelevää katsottavaa.

Gamo hunter 1250 or hunter by short is my first self purchased airgun. It's one of the most powerfull spring powered air rifles on the market. 4.5mm(or .177cal) bullet leaves the barrel at 1250fps and it will break the sound barrier while fyling causing loud bang even after the suppressor in front of the barrel. With hevier bullet you can reduce and even get rid of the sonic boom.

At the front of the barrel with GAMO PRO MAGNUM Penetration-pellets (0.49g / 7.56gr) rifle generates 35.57joules of force. With lighter pellets like for example GAMO LETHAL pellets you get lower force but better penetration.

Accuracy of the rifle is not the best possible because of the recoil created by the strong spring in it. Good example of the recoil is that when my friend shot this rifle and he hold scope too close to his eye scope hit his eye and it made a good mark on him. You will hit your target when you get used to it and have your scope properly set. There is enough speed and power for anybody. Because the sonic boom it doesn't really work as backyard gun.

Scope is cheap 3-9x40 i purchased from DealExtreme for 35€ way back. Even tho the scope is cheap and chinese it's still fairly accurate. It has light on the reticle and you can choose colors for the reticle from two and there is 5 brightness levels for both. Scope can now be purcased for even cheaper from Ebay.

Pellets

I mostly use GAMO PRO MAGNUM Penetration-pellets because they are good on price/quality/amount ratio. I have also gotten some GAMO Rocket and GAMO Lethal pellets.

Gamo hunter 1250 tai tuttavallisemmin Huntteri on ensimmäinen itse ostamani ilma-ase. Ase on yksi markkinoiden tehokkaimmista jousitoimisista ilmakivääreistä. 4.5mm luoti lähtee piipusta 380m/s ja rikkoo äänivallin lentäessään aiheuttaen kovan pamauksen piipun äänenvaimentimesta huolimatta. Painavammillla luodeilla tämän yliäänipamauksen saa vältettyä.

Piipunsuulta GAMO PRO MAGNUM Penetration-luodeilla (0.49g / 7.56gr) ase tuottaa 35.57joulen iskuvoiman. Kevyemmillä luodeilla esim GAMO LETHAL luodeilla iskuvoima on pienempi, mutta läpäisykyky on parempi.

HD Birdhouse.

Spring comes. And birds and in finland we got this challenge to make one milion birdsnes during 2016 so i decided to make my own.

I had previously bought 720P ip-camera for this purpose, so i decided now it's good time for this. Birdhouse is made for bigger bird or for a squirel. Inner dimensions are 20x20x50cm. There is chance that small owl, jackdaw or squirel will live in it.

I started by getting some 22x150mm lumber from K-rauta.

From these i sawed pieces for all the walls. 50cm front wall, side walls starting from 50cm and going up 5-degree slop for the roof and last back wall that is around 52cm tall)

After all sawing was done i took the router and made step on the planks i joined together to make sure wind doesn't blow in so easy. I also put some wood glue in between there and also support woods to the top and bottom of the walls.

I first made the roof the same way from two pieces of lumber where i fit the camera. In the end i ended up making the roof with water resistant plywood.

For the camera i got the housing again from Biltema. 110x110x70mm by size. Camera, block of wood for attaching and all cables and stuff fit inside well.

Wood i attached with super glue after sanding the inside of plastic rough. Camera i attached to wood with couple of screws in its correct spot. Some electical tape around the connectors to make sure they don't get deattached.

Gap between plastic box and the roof i filled with silicone and i also put some on all the seams of the wood to make sure wind and rain doesn't get in. Around the cables i put some electrical tape so they are protected and kept together.

Birdhouse to the wood around 4 meters high. Steel cable around the tree and webbing on the bottom to make sure it stays up and upright without moving in the wind. Cables down on the side of the wood and inside the house. 10M cable was just right lenght and i had 20cm reaching inside. 15M network cable was plentiful.

Connect the cables, Turn on the camera. Make the configurations and we have a picture! Now we can see what is happening inside the birdhouse from the computer.

I also made the software to take pics every hour so i can make timelapse later. When something happens inside i will put pictures/videos/updates to the blog.

HD Pönttökomera.

Tuli kevät. Tuli muuttolinnut ja miljoonan pöntön haaste joten joten päätin kantaa oman korteni kekoon.

Hankin jo aikaisemmin 720P IP-kameran joka oli tarkoitus laittaa linnunpönttöön ja nyt olikin sopiva aika tähän. Pönttö on isommalle linnulle tai oravalle sisämitat 20x20x50cm. Pönttöön saattaa pesiä helmipöllö, naakka, uuttukyyhky tai orava.

Aloitin hakemalla 22x150mm lautaa K-raudasta.

Näistä sitten alettiin sakaamaan kappaleita seiniksi. 50cm etuseinä, sivuseinät alkaen 50cm ja katolle 5-asteen kulma ja lopuksi noin 52cm takaseinä.

Kun kaikki puut seiniä varten oli sahattu, niiden liitoskohtiin tehtiin yläjyrsimellä "porrastus" jotta tuuli ei heti puhalla läpi. Väliin laitoin myös puuliimaa ja ala sekä yläreunaan tukirimat.'

Alkuun tein katon myös samalla tavalla kahdesta puusta johon sovitin kameran, päädyin kuitenkin vaihtamaan kattomateriaalin vesivaneriin.

Kameralle hankin lootan jälleen Biltemasta. 110x110x70 kokoa. Kamera, kiinnityspuu ja johdot liittimineen mahtuivat sisälle hyvin.

Puun kiinnitin pikaliimalla laatikkoon kun olin hionut pinnan ensin karkeaksi. Kamera ruuveilla kiinni puuhun oikealle kohdalleen. Hieman sähköteippiä liittimille varmistaakseen etteivät ne missään nimessä irtoa.

Kamera katsoo läpi reijästä, Linssinsuoja kuvassa piaikallaan.

Muovilootan ja katon reunan tiivistin silikonilla ja kaikki saumat vielä ulkopuolelta. Johtojen ympärille vedin sähköteipin pitääkseen ne suojattuna ja yhdessä.

Testataan kamera. Johtojen sisäänvedon suojasin myös silikonilla.

Kamera puuhun, noin 4 metrin korkeuteen. Vaijeri puun ympärille ja kuormaliina alareunaan varmistaakseen ettei se vaan missään nimessä liiku ja heilu. Johdot alas puuta pitkin ja sisälle. 10M sähköjohdosta jäi 20cm sisälle, eli johto ei ollut yhtään liian pitkä. Verkkojohto oli 15M joten se riitti oikein hyvin.

Johdot kiinni, Kamera päälle ja konfiguraatiot kuntoon ja johan näkee koneelta mitä pöntössä tapahtuu.

Pistin sovelluksen ottamaan kuvan keran tunnissa, joten voin näistä myöhemmin tehdä timelapsen. Kunhan joku käy kurkkimassa pönttöä niin laitan videoita/kuvia/päivitystä blogiin.

Metal rose.

What does Do It Yourself man give to his better half as present? Flowers? Sure but not any ordinary but something you can see how much effort was put into it. Something that never dries or dies even if you forget to water it. Whats that kind of magic flower? It's a rose made of metal.

Making the rose is pretty easy. You only need some basic tools, sheet metal and metal rod. Welding equipment are awesome but you can also solder it together. Best part is, it's pretty much impossible to fail.

Föower and the leaves are made out of 0.7mm sheet metal that you can buy from hardware store. Stem is made out of 5mm metal rod i dig out from my scrap bin. Recycled stuff. Metal rod can also be purchased from the hardware store and it can also be replaced with M5 or M6 threaded rod to assemble flower with nuts. It also creates nice texture on the stem.

Tools needed are hammer, sheet metal cutters, socket wrench set, bench vice, bench grinder and blowtorch.

Start by printing the parts of the flower. Found by google and downloadable here.

Cut the pieces with scissors.

And then use the cut pieces to copy flower pieces to the sheet metal. I used some scrap pieces.

Cut the parts of flower with sheet metal cutters. Use safety glasses so you don't end up having piece of metal in your eye.

When flower parts are cut it's time to sand the edges and drill holes that matches the stem rod in the middle of the pieces. (I did it the hard way and drilled later, this is why there is no holes in following pics.)

Then give shape to the flowers. The bottom leaf piece on the bench vise and hit in the middle of the leaves with hammer or flathead screwdriver.

Next we give shape to the petals. This is where you need the socket wrench set or suitable piece of pipe.

Place the petal layer on the socket and hit it gently with hammer. Do this to all layers except the leaf layer.

(I drilled holes at this point. It's much easier to do that before hammering.

Then it's time to start to building the flower. Leaf layer on bottom and all layers of petals on top of those from biggest to smallest.

Small piece of pipe or long socket can be used to help while doing this.

After assembling the flower i welded some metal to keep it from moving.

Then it's time for the blowtorch. Heat the topmost layer till it glows a bit red and bend the petals up towards the center. Do this to all layers. Leaf layer tips are bent downwards.

Then we are lacking the leaves still. They are made by the same way as the petals. Picture of the leaves is again from google. For example this will work really well. Print and transfer to sheet metal.

Petioles are made with hammer and flathead screwdriver.

Some texture to the edges of the flowers can be made with file, metal cutters or bench grinder.

Attach the leaves to the stem and then connect the stems together. Blowtorch is used to heat up the flowers and bent the tips downwards to follow the gravity.

And the rose is ready. It can be painted so it looks real or just left as metal color. I suggest that atleast layer of clearcoat is added to prevent rusting.

Mitä tee-se-itse-mies antaa lahjaksi paremmalle puoliskolleen? Kukkia? Toki, mutta ei tavallisia vaan jotain missä vaivannäkö näkyy. Jotain mikä ei lakastu koskaan. Jotain joka ei kuole vaikka sen unohtaisi kastella? Mikä se tälläinen ihmekukka oikein on? Ruusu, valmistettuna metallista.

Ruusun valmistus on varsin helppoa. Tarvitaan vain muutamia perus työkaluja, peltiä ja metallitankoa. Hitsausvehkeet ovat loistava apu, mutta kaikki liitokset voi tehdä myös juottamalla. Hienoa tässä projektissa on myös se, että mitään on vaikea tehdä pieleen.

Kukka ja lehdet ovat tehty 0.7mm pellistä jota saa ostettua esimerkiksi vaikka Biltemasta. Varsi on 5mm tankoa, jonka kaivoin romulootasta. Kierrätyskamaa. Vastaavaa tankoa saa ostettua rautakaupasta. Halutessa varren voi tehdä myös M5 tai M6 kierretangosta, jolloin kukan pystyy kasaamaan muttereilla. Se myös luo kivan tekstuurin varteen.

Työkaluina vasara, peltisakset, hylsyavainsarja, ruuvipenkki (tai pätkä kulmarautaa), hiomakone sekä kaasupoltin.

Aloitetaan tulostamalla kukan osat. Valmis pohja löytyi googlella ja sen voi ladata tästä.

Leikataan osat saksilla paperista.

Ja piirretään ulkoreunoja myöten pellille, Itse käytin hukkapaloja kukan valmistukseen.

Kukan osat leikataan irti peltisaksilla. Hommassa on hyvä käyttää suojalaseja. Ethän halua menettää näköäsi silmaan lentäneen metallinpalan takia?

Kukan osat leikattu pellistä. Seuraavaksi hiotaan reunat ja kaikkien keskelle porataan reikä joka vastaa rungoksi tulevan tangon paksuutta. (Itse tein vaikeimman kautta eri järjestyksessä, joten kuvissa ei porattuje reikiä ole.)

Sitten aletaan antamaan muotoa kukille. Pohjimmainen kappale ruuvipenkkiin ja vasaralla / talttapäisellä ruuvarilla lyödään sakaroiden keskeltä.

Seuraavaksi muotoja terälehdille. Tähän tarvitset hylsyavainsarjaa, tai jotain vastaavaa esim putken pätkää.

Laitetaan kukan terälehtikerros hylsyn päälle ja napautetaan vasaralla. Tehdään tämä kaikille kerroksille paitsi pohjalehdille.

(Itse porasin reijät vasta tässä vaiheessa. Paljon helpompi porata ne ennen vasarointia.)

Seuraavana kasataan kukka. Pohjalehdet alimmaiseksi ja kaikki terälehtikerrokset näiden päälle.

Tässä voi käyttää apuna esimerkiksi pätkää putkea tai pitkää hylsyä, mikäli varsi on tiukka.

Kukka kasattuna, hitsasin möykyn metallia tuohon päähän.

Ja sitten onkin aika ottaa kaasupoltin käyttöön. Lämmitetään ylintä terälehtikerrosta, kunnes se hohtaa hieman punaisena ja taivutetaan terälehdet sisäänpäin. Tämä toistetaan kaikille kerroksille. Lehtikerros kukan alla taivutetaan kärjistä alaspäin.

Tässä vaiheessa kukasta puuttuu vielä lehdet. Ne tehdään samalla tavalla kuin terälehdet. Kuvan voi etsiä vaikka googesta. Vaikka tämä toimii loistavasti. Tulostetaan, leikataan ja siirretään pellille.

Lehtiin tehdään vähän lehtiruoteja vasralla ja tallapäisellä ruuvarilla:

Tekstuuria lehtien reunalle voi tehdä viilalla, peltisaksilla tai penkkihiomakoneella.

Lehdet kiinnitetään varteen ja lopuksi varret liitetään yhteen. Kaasupolttimella lämmitetään lehtiä ja annetaan niille hieman muotoja, taivutetaan kärkiä alaspäin jotta ne noudattavat painovoiman lakeja.

Ja kukka on valmis. Kukan voi maalata spraymaaleilla näyttämään luonnolliselta, tai jättää sen täysin metallinväriseksi. Suosittelen sumuttamaan hieman kirkaslakkaa ruusun pinnoille estääkseen ruostumisen.

Alloy wheel painting with rubber paint.

My car wheels were "a bit" scratched from the last owner and required some renovation, so when i noticed that Biltema has brought rubber paint to their selections for 13€ a can i thought its a good time to test the paint and make wheels look bit better. Also some rat stole my center caps from my front yard some time ago i thought dark color might also hide the shape a bit.

So i got can of the paint and started with cleaning the rims. There was dirt from last summer too. I cleaned them with Turtle wax rim wheel cleaner and cool water.

After washing they alreadly look better, but can't get rid of the scratches without sanding.

So i covered the tire by putting wide painters tape between the tire and wheel lip to make sure no paint goes to the rubber. Plan was to paint the rim, not the tire. After first layer of paint the surface starts to look much better. Paint requires 4-5 layers to form the rubber like layer.

Paint to other wheels too. I had to go and buy another can of the stuff since one was not quite enough. Two cans will be good for big selection of rims.

5 layers of paint on all rims and waiting for 4h for the paint to dry. Painting with amateur skills succeeded well and the paint turned out to have nice good even layer. While removing the tape i managed to rip the paint from the edges a bit so i had to paint those edges a bit. Wheels have been now on the car for a week and the paint is staying well on the surface. I will write more updates as time passes and how they survive washes and use.

For now i can recommend the paint. Good quality for the price. Thick stuff too that covers scratches pretty well. Also seems to be durable.

Aluvanteiden uudistaminen kumimaalilla.

Autoni vanteet olivat "vähän" naarmuiset edellisen omistajan jäljiltä ja muutenkin vaativat siistimistä joten kun huomasin, että Biltema on tuonut valikoimaansa kumimaalia 13€ purkki ajattelin, että nythän on hyvä vaihtoehto testata tuota maalia ja saada vähän uutta näköä vanteille sekä tehdä niistä siistimmät. Lisäksi joku rotta varasti keskisuojat kotipihassa, niin ajattelin että tumma maali piillottaa vielä vähän muotoja.

Ostin purkin tuota kumimaalia ja aloitin putsaamalla vanteet. Likaa oli kertyneenä jo viime kesältä. Pesin ne Turtlen vannepesuaineella ja viileällä vedellä.

Pesun jälkeen vanteet näyttivätkin jo paremmalta. Naarmuja nyt ei hiomatta pois saa.

Laitoin leveää maalarinteippiä kumin ja vanteen väliin suojatakseni kumin maalilta. Kuitenkin tarkoituksena on vain maalata vanne, ei kumia. Ekan maalikerroksen jälkeen näyttää oikein hyvältä. Maali vaatii 4-5 kerrosta muodostaakseen paksun kumimaisen kerroksen.

Maalia lopuillekkin vanteille. Jouduin hakemaan toisenkin purkin tuota maalia, sillä yksi purkki ei aivan riittänyt. 2 purkkia riittää hyvin suurimmalle osalle vanteista.

Kaikille vanteille 5 kerrosta maalia ja sitten odotetaan 4h maalin kuivumista. Maalaaminen amatöörin taidoin onnistui oikein hyvin, maalipinnasta tuli tasainen ja siisti. Teippiä irroittaessani maali repeytyi hieman reunasta, joten jouduin paikkamaalaamaan reunoja hieman. Pyörät ovat olleet nyt auton alla viikon ja maali on pysynyt oikein hyvin pinnassa. Kirjoittelen päivitystä miten maali kestää pesut ja käytön.

Näin alkuun voin hyvin suositella tuota maalia. Hyvä hinta-laatusuhde. Paksua kamaa joka peittää aika hyvin vielä naarmut. Vaikuttaa myös kestävältä.

Ich habe 3 Schubladen und 2 Schränke in meinem Schreibtisch. In einem der Schränken ist meine Sortierbox von Rubbermaid. Um sicher zu sein, dass die Sortierbox nicht rausfällt, musste ich sie auf beiden Seiten mit Schrauben befestigen. Dies ist nicht sehr optimal, da der Schrank 60cm lang ist und die Sortierbox nur 20cm also ist hinter der Sortierbox 40cm verschwendeter Patz.

Für den Anfang die Sortierbox in dem Schrank. Die Schranktür ist schließbar und die Sortierbox ist fest an ihrem Platz. Alles war gut erreichbar, einzig der verschwendete Platz dahinter störte mich.

Entferne die Schrauben und die Sortierbox.

Ich habe Schubladenschienen bei Biltema gefunden die mit 40kg pro Paar belastbar sind. Die Schienen waren einen halben Meter lang, vollausgezogen 1 Meter. Optimal wären Schienen gewesen die 60cm lang gewesen wären und vollausgezogen 1,20 Meter. (viel Mist unterm Tisch^^)

Ich habe 18mm Brettschichtholz aus Fichte für den Boden, Vorder- und Rückseite von Bauahus gekauft sowie 9mm Sperrholz für die Seitenwand. Nachdem ich alles gemessen habe machte ich die Schublade.

Nur der Boden angebracht.

Fertig gebaute Schublade bereit eingepasst zu werden.

Schublade auf den Schienen und die Sortierbox daran befestigt.

Ich musste die Sortierbox oben und unten etwas kleiner machen damit sie reinpasste. Gut, dass es nur dekoratives Plastik war, sodass ich es ohne Probleme mit dem Dremel entfernen konnte.
Fertiggestellt sieht das gut aus und funktioniert sehr gut. Das einzige Problem ist, dass das Sofa neben dem Tisch die Tür stoppt, sodass die Schublade nicht komplett ausziehbar ist.

Und was tut man nun in eine versteckte Schublade? Alkohol vielleicht? Versteckt ihn sicher vor unangekündigten Besuchern! ;)

Fifth and last part of building the ammo box power supply building. Put the stuff inside and test.

First pic of the fan. I'm happy there is no BRVSHES inside.

Put all the insides in and attach them

Transformer at the bottom. Controller on top. Awesome mess of wires. Ratsnest.

Fan attached. I just put it on with some metal wire since it will be enough to keep it in place.

View from the front all assembled.

Power it on and all works and looks good. Test and everything still works. Now just alot of use.

Tuuletin paikallaan. päädyin kiinnittämään sen vain rautalangalla, sillä se riittää hyvin kiinnittämiseen.
