Oni Press just released details for their anthology Jam! Tales from the Derby Girls, due to be released this June. I drew the cover, and it was colored by Kimball Gray Davis.

MADAME XANADU original art

For those keeping track, Madame Xanadu #20 goes on sale this Wednesday, and we have also started posting the pencil artwork online. I don't have scans for every page yet, but we have most of #19 up now, and we'll post a good portion of #20 by the end of the week, once people have had a chance to read the issue.

Comic Art Fans gallery, complete with prices - note: all the pages are for sale, even if you don't see the scans yet. Drop a line if you don't see your favorite.

The pages were all drawn on DC art board at the regular 11" X 17" size. The pencils were then scanned and inked on blueline printout. This means I have all the original pencil art still intact, and this is what we will be selling. Hence, our reasons for posting them: so you can see what you're going to get.

TROUBLEMAKER in the NY TIMES

The New York Times just ran an article about Janet Evanovich bringing her material and the characters from the Barnaby books to Dark Horse. I am currently pencilling her book Troublemaker, co-written by Alex Evanovich. Read about it here.

What the Times fail to tell you that the art is inked by the wonderful Andy Owens and colored by the equally wonderful Dan Jackson.

The book will be out this summer.

The latest Diamond catalogue has the first volume of Spell Checkers by myself, Jamie S. Rich, and Nicolas Hitori de listed as a Featured Item.

Oni also put together a double-page spread highlighting the books Jamie and I did for them. Check it out.

Now is a good time to preorder the title.

Just a reminder, I will be attending Emerald City ComiCon on March 13th and 14th in Seattle. Full details here.

It's also likely that the full Spell Checkers team with attend Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo April 16 through 18. Then it's back to Portland for Stumptown the week after, April 24 & 25.

If any of these plans change, I'll post here right away.

Oh, and Madame Xanadu #19 is out as of yesterday. I hope to have a gallery of the pages soon. The pencilled pages are all still intact, as the originals were scanned and then the inking was done on blueline printouts. Very modern!

Hey, everyone. The Dr. Horrible comic book is out and has been getting good reviews. The most recent is from Erik Henriksen, who in addition to being a comics writer himself (anyone see his Warriors: Jailbreak comic last summer?), is an editor and writer at the Portland Mercury. It just so happens that the Merc is running a charity auction and they are auctioning off a packet of stuff from Dark Horse that includes the art for page 6 of the comic.

Check out the Dr. Horrible page 6 auction here! Though it says no shipping, they will send the items for an extra $25.

One of my other publishers, Oni Press, is also part of a package that includes every comic they'll publish in 2010, which one assumes will include Spell Checkers! Bid here.

Comic Book Resources has the early release of DC's January 2010 solicitations before the Diamond catalogue comes out in a week or two. This includes Madame Xanadu #19, the first of my two-month stint as penciller on the title.

Amy Reed Hadley and Richard Friend are doing the covers to keep continuity for the full story arc. #19 and #20 are an interlude back in time that reflects on the larger story.

Hey, all.

Busy times around here. Dr. Horrible is all done, and pencils for Madame Xanadu are well under way. Hence the lack of updates. It's all about the work these days.

In the meantime, Jamie has updated the side bar with more purchasing info. First, the art and commissions price list now includes all available pages for You Have Killed Me. Even the cover. [Edit: Never mind. The cover sold!]

We have also started a gallery at Comic Art Fans where you can look at the pages and see the prices. A bunch of pieces are already up, including pages from all the graphic novels and from the Popgun stories, same prices as they are in the sidebar pdf. Click on the link to the right, or just click here to see it. This gallery will primarily be used to display interior art, while the Etsy store will be more for single illustrations, etc.
