Sorry for the delay, as mentioned in a previous post I'm in the midst of "peak" season and have been busy playing catch up on client projects till yesterday evening.

Forums are back online. Think I got all the recent forum posts updated but, if you've asked a question or posted a response to another members question within the last week or so and, don't see it.. Please repost.

I'm afraid I'll be scarce here over the next week or so as I'm taking a long overdue hiatus from work to play catch-up in the real world (family, friends, home rennovation). I'll check in daily (mostly to make sure the forums don't crash again) but can't promise I'll be able to respond timely to PM's or questions in the forums if you've an urgent matter.

When I'm back on a regular basis folks should see (hopefully) an accelerated project path amongst a few new announcements regarding mojoblog, a8e and joomlify.

Thanks for using (and supporting) mojoblog.

Seems like it’s almost a bi-annual thing, every six months or so our forums/support section urps and corrupts our db so unimaginably bad we can’t even reload from recent backups reliably.

It’s always inconvenient, this time it’s even more so as I’m in the midst of client projects, release of mojoblog 0.17 and refactoring our downstairs bathroom, all of which are higher priorities than re-cobbling together the mojoblog forums.

I’ll try to get things straightened out over the weekend, until then.. If you’ve got questions about mojoblog or, need information on our components and modules, read our FAQ and search our FILES area for solutions.

Thanks in part to our due diligence (but mostly to our intrepid alpha beta-testers) we’ve corralled a long suspect bit of .js which has been causing many folks issues with image management, drag and drop placement and insertion into posts.

That was the good news. The “not so good news” is; we’ve decided to NOT rewrite the offending .js. Instead we’re pulling a milestone from 1.0+ and working on integrating mojoblog a bit deeper into the joomla!/a8e framework.

Yeah, so what does that mean? It means we’re working on a new bit of mojo that will allow mojobloggers to use the same wysiwyg editors they use elsewhere in joomla! while retaining basic Wordpress RTF compatibility.

Ok, how long till mojoblog 0.17? Dunno but, we’ll keep you posted..

In between emptying pots full of storm water, ringing out drenched family pets, contemplating the new pond where once our backyard stood and generally recuperating from 22″+ inches of tropical deluge *(formally known as TS Faye), I’ve been able to focus a bit of unexpected free time towards working through the latest iteration of mojoblog and finishing up on our “official” mojoblog news blog.

Hopefully, over the next week or so I’ll tighten up the 0.17 version enough to release our pRC (pre Release Candidate) to the few hardy beta-testers willing to try it out. Those beta-folk wishing to bug-squash 0.17 feel free to PM me via the joomlify.com forums and I’ll send a copy for your perusal.

Initially, 0.17 was to be mostly a bug-fix of issues found in 0.16 but, as mentioned above.. Being home-bound for over a week and not being able to work on the house left me a bit more time than anticipated to plunder core code and browse my mojo road-map and features list.

I’ll add a more in-depth disclosure of improvements, fixes and new features found in 0.17 over at our “official” mojoblog.info blog later this week.

Thanks for all the fish..

While the evolution of mojoBlog from a buggy-beta slowly metamorph’s into a stable blog-component alternative for legacy joomla 1.0.15 and a8e-dev users we want to thank all our joomlify.com members who’ve contributed in our mojoblog development forums, asking questions, posting bugs and offering solutions.

With your participation and support we’re all the more committed to push mojoblog through buggy into stable (0.20) beta by 3rd quarter of 2008.

mojoBlog turns 0.17 soon..

Though seemingly quiet around the mojoBlog camp the last few weeks, we’ve have been steadily working through the current 0.16 bug-list (with the help of Lorenz Meyer, David Camp, Toole Bouche and many other folks who’ve graciously donated their time and effort) and adding features (multi-language capabilities, themelettes, etc..), enhancements (mojo-meta plugin, etc.) to the collective mojo.

We hope to release our latest, mojoBlog 0.17 around the third week of July, yes.. 2008!

mojo flip floppin’..

I mentioned back in May that we were going to -only- push mojoBlog release announcements and news through this channel but, as it happens, we’ve changed our mind, again.

As our user-base grows so have our server resources. Currently, as of July 2008 joomlify.com consumes an average of 6-10 gigabytes of bandwidth each month. In the scheme of things, this isn’t a major issue but, we don’t see traffic declining so we’re shifting bits and making room as we continue to grow.

Joomlify.com will continue to be ground-zero for all things mojo (forums, faqs, files) but we’re creating a new demo site specifically for folks to view mojoBlog in the wild which will be found at: mojoblog.info . We should have mojoblog.info live over the next week or two, I’ll post another announcement here when we launch.

From mojoBlog 0.17 and on, we’ll be serving all dashboard feeds and feedburner RSS from there, leaving our blog here a little more open for topical posts and other joomlify related news and articles.

Support Contribute Thanks

Finally, we’d like to thank those of you who’ve donated a buck or three to our development and hosting costs (formally known as our buy a beer for the kitties fund). Light-hearted encouragement that’s truly helped offset our server rental and associated development costs over the last year.

A few months ago we were fortunate enough to find (and get accepted by) BuySellAds “an advertising marketplace for small to medium sized website owners/publishers.” whos advertisers have generously offset our current expenses in exchange for some rather prominent realestate, top of each page here on joomlify.com.

If you need brilliant, w3c compliant xhtml work created from your photoshop’d joomla layouts, we highly recommend either of our advertisers, they’re both fast, reliable and exceptionally easy to deal with. Oh, and we’ve got one slot available here on joomlify until they’re all sold out.

mojoblog goes international, now with support for localized language support.

As I work steadily towards a more complete understanding of the plethora of options regarding pretty URLS and mojo (with joomla, joomla sef, joomlaSEF, openSEF, 404SEF, etc.,) It’s been good to see a few of our more adventurous forum members have taken the liberty of offering up their own prettyURL workarounds.

mojo goes international kinda…

A month or so back we’d mentioned the upcoming support for internationalization *(native language options) with mojoBlog. Planned release of mojoBlog ML (multilingual) was scheduled for beta version 0.20 but, thanks to forum member Lorenz Meyer and his hard work integrating wordpress language files (.mo) into not only front-end blog but also the greater majority of the admin/dashboard too!

Currently, you can find mojoBlog ML 0.16 over on Lorenz’s website , Hopefully, within the next week or so we’ll add the “official mojoBlog ML” here on joomlify as well as newer, language enabled modules (currently, Lorenz has added support to the default mojoBlog sidebar module).

support forums go international, moderators needed..

With the upcoming release of multi-lingual mojo it’s readily apparent we’ll need new forums to cover and localize other, country/region specific languages and translation packages (mo’s) for mojoBlog as they become available. We’ve got English moderators covered pretty well :-) but are actively seeking folks who have the time and opportunity to help others (non-English speaking) with both existing mojoBlog forum questions and, translation/language packages. If you’ve got the mojo, send a pm to me via the forums outlining which language(s) you’d like to moderate.

When is a blog not a blog? When it’s a pushed stream of information that’s force fed to a growing number of mojoBlog users directly to their mojoBlog dashboard.

The “developers news feed” idea has been around since the early days of Mambo (remember when your admin page would take forever to load, waiting for mamboserver to come back online?). WordPress still uses it to display not only their own agenda but, recent snippets from favored WP gurus, plugin and theme developers and an occasional rant or two from the related blogosphere.

Until recently I’ve been sending users of mojoBlog all the pablum fit to post but, with very little content about mojoBlog as this “feed” has been pulled from the main blog on joomlify.com.

That’s gonna change. We’ve created a new, dedicated category on our blog called OMBD (official mojo developers blog) and all future releases of mojoBlog will push -only- this category’s posts to our users. From here on out you’ll see mojoBlog mentioned at least three times per post, whether it’s relevant or not. No more whining about bad hosting, bad administration (me) or bad people trying to hack our website. No bad, just good relevant info on the latest mojoBlog status, latest files, upcoming point releases. All mojo, all the time.

Sorry about the frustrating absence yesterday. Seems our ever vigilant tech-folks at site5 decided to pursue a resident spammalar on a neighboring server and wound up blocking our IPs’ unintentionally in the heat of the chase.

The support ticket dialog between us and “tech” over the last 24 hours reads more like an Abbott and Costello episode *(Who’s on first?) but, amidst the English as an elective-language discourse we were graciously thrown a technical bone towards the end.

“Sorry for the delay, the IP had been nullrouted by the datacenter due to a fraud site located at the IP, this has been dealt with and the datacenter should be removing the nullroute shortly.”

I’m not sure if the exhausted, overworked/underpaid blade-tech Colombo at our rack-farm got his/her hands rulered for the error but I did learn from our ever polite support-center that the weather in Downtown Nepal yesterday was just a bit warmer than Hell in Springtime.

New File download area on Joomlify.com

We’ve opened our new files archives a bit early as we’ve had numerous requests for a few or our new releases and updated modules. Though the downloads section is still a bit spartan (we’ve not added our new/upcoming components or descriptions) our mojoBlog files area is almost up to date.

New Mojo Forums

We’ll also be launching our new, improved support forums over the weekend. The shift from fireboard to SMF has been tedious to say the least and, unless we get our hacked "export" fireboard topics functioning soon, we’ll most likely be starting the forums over from scratch. We will be incorporating as many of our older mojoBlog forum posts as possible into our new FAQ and Tutorials sections but it might take a bit for published work appears on either.

New is Good…

On top of the major shifts around joomlify, the upcoming additions of our new components *(mojoSEF, mojoMarket and mojoStock) we’re also excited to announce that we’re taking up the standard passed down to us from current lead dev Duvien Trang over at our sister site a8ejoomla.com. We plan to transition the existing a8ejoomla.com site over to our new server on site5 within the next week or so, expect launch announcements soon thereafter.
