(Article) - Fashion Tips: Express Yourself With Colors

Mixing and matching is a personal choice, you create your very own style!

Well, let's get to understand and have fun with colors

White

A popular color in Fashion. Light and neutral, it goes well with any color.

Considered a summer color, a good choice for tops. Always have some in your wardrobe. It readily matches bottoms of any color; a pair of blue denim jeans, Khakis pants, a gray skirt, a bright colorful beach bermudas? You name it!

Associated with cleanliness and purity, innocence and gentleness., it gives you a feeling of freedom and uncluttered openness. Women just always look that lovely in their snowy white wedding gown, don't they?

Tips: add a little touch of white to brighten or lighten up your mood Eg. a white tank top with blue denim jean, white cotton jacket over a hot pink velour smocked baby doll dress or a simply all white for a simple breezy look

Black

A popular color in Fashion, always stylish and never out of trend

A good choice for bottoms. Directly opposite of white, it readily matches tops of any colors. Nonetheless, it is also a popular choice for tops, making the wearer appearing slimmer. A great complementary color for accessories like a pink sparkling evening bag, a diamond necklace.

A mysterious color, it gives you a feeling of perspective and depth. Symbolizing elegance and refinement, it is always regarded as a prestigious color.

Tips: pair up black with other dark colors for an attractive mature look Eg. a brown wool button front cardigan with black pinstripe bootcut pants, gray tweed cropped blazer with black stretch pintuck pencil skirt

Red

An expressive color extensively use in Fashion.

Most visible and lively of all colors, it creates attraction and excitement. The wearer naturally portraits an image of excitable, energetic, enthusiasm and confidence. Nonetheless, it also suggests an erotic feeling, a lady in red?

A physically inspiring color often associated with vitality and ambition, love & passion.

Tips: pair up red with colors within the red family itself for various moods Eg. a red retro style tee with maroon pleated skirt, hot pink cotton v-neck tank with red fleece collegiate mini skirt

Yellow

A color commonly use in Casual Fashion.

Similar to red, it creates attraction and excitement. However it suggests a more fun and sunshine mood. The wearer tends to bring about amusing cheeriness to the group. Usually liked by those who embrace changes.

The color of sunshine, often associated with joy, liveliness and optimism.

Tips: pair up yellow with dark or lucid cool colors for a striking youthful look Eg. a yellow ruched halter top with black wool full skirt, yellow roll edge t-shirt with turquoise polka dot tiered mini skirt

Blue

A popular color liked by most

Emotionally opposite of red & yellow, it brings about a very soothing & relaxing feel, pleasant to the eyes. Naturally refreshing in mood, it's a good choice for daytime wear.

The color of summer skies and the sea, often associated with calmness, affection, idealism and inspiration.

Tips: match blue with white for a refreshing and sporty look Eg. a bright blue cotton v-neck hoodie with white stretch cotton studded pants, white terry track jacket with pale blue faded jean

Pink

A feminine color for girls

Similar to blue, it's soothing and pleasant to the eyes. Naturally sweet in mood, it has a lasting girly appeal. Girls in pink tend to portrait a very sweet & pleasant image, always attractive to the guys.

The color of cotton candy, often associated with warm, everlasting affection & tender love

Tips: add a little pink to bring out the feminine touch Eg. matching your black satin strapless sash dress with a pink crocodile clutch, pink collar tee with black stretched cotton cropped pants

Well, there are simply too many colors if I were to go on. I believe you should now have a feel of how matching of colors can be of so much fun? In simple, just play by the color rules:

Stick to one color (all white, blue, red.)

Hot goes with cool (match yellow with green or blue not with red "it might be too hot!")

Use neutral colors to draw the looks together (white, gray, beige and black are good neutral colors)

Play around with color of the same family (pink with maroon, sky blue with navy blue.)

Remember, you create your very own style. Have fun!

(Article) - What To Wear With Ugg Boots?

The question of what to wear with ugg boots is a simple one to answer. This popular style of boot can be worn with just about anything. There are no fashion rules when it comes to wearing these boots. In fact, it seems that wearing this style of boot breaks almost every fashion-related rule.

Ugg boots are available in many different colors and styles and it is this enormous selection which makes the boots so versatile and desirable. The styles run the gamut from the casual look of the standard three quarter boot in a natural shade to the flamboyant and funky long haired pink boot. Whatever color you can think of, the sheep skin can be dyed to match.

People are wearing these popular boots to the office, on the dance floor, out to dinner, and while on vacation to the slopes or to the shores. Whatever look you are trying to achieve, you can achieve it with ugg boots. And these boots are not geared towards any one segment of society. Men, women, children and infants can all find a pair of ugg boots to match their size and their style.

Think wearing boots at the beach sounds crazy? Well, this is what surfers did back in the seventies. In fact, even though sheep skin boots had been around for quite some time, it was surfers who started the craze. Australia is a great place to surf, and since ugg boots are made from Australian sheep skin their existence was already well-known in the land down under. After emerging from Australia's cold ocean waters, surfers needed something which could quickly warm their feet. They found their answer in ugg boots. These boots became as essential a part of a surfer's gear as a surfboard. As Australian surfers traversed the globe in search of the perfect wave, they took their boots along and in no time at all, the popularity of the sheep skin boot exploded.

Ugg boots that are made from genuine sheep skin can be worn in all types of weather. When one thinks of boots, one tends to relate boots to cold weather. While it is true that these boots will keep feet warm in temperatures as low as 30ºF, the sheep skin encourages air circulation which helps to keep feet cool even as the ambient temperature climbs. The natural wicking action of the sheep skin draws perspiration and other sources of moisture away from the skin.

These boots are comfortable, too, fitting as snugly as a second skin. And because they are comfortable, people are wearing them everywhere with everything. The styles of ugg boots range from tall to short and everywhere in between. There are clog styles and slipper styles. Tie up laces, top-stitching, buckles and snaps are just some of the accessories that can be added to these boots to change the appearance. There are styles for achieving an ultra feminine look or the rugged mountain-man look. Ugg boots are available in black, brown, brown, blue, purple, red, natural, gray, off-white and more.

So break out of your fashion rule mentality and let your imagination go wild. Get yourself a pair of ugg boots and wear them with you jeans, wear them to work on casual Friday, or pair them up with your Sunday best. Wear these functional yet attractive boots in daily life and even while on vacation. If celebrities can wear them during breaks in filming and children can wear them to school, and if Aussies can wear them out in the sheep shearing sheds, then you can wear them too.

(Article) - Teen Fashion Trends

Fashion is looking used or worn, incorporating 'found' items or recycled 'treasures', such as patchworked pieces, unmatching grandmother's button box buttons, hand-assembled effects, pre-washed fabrics, and "collectible" embellishments. Pieces that look handcrafted [like those with embroidery] take on a new spin when worn with sleek dark denim trousers and a sophisticated boot and belt combo. A ruffle-bottom skirt is cute, too, especially when worn with a structured top. Many dresses feature a structured top with a gathered or draped skirt.

Jeans and peasant blouses are good together. Jackets and skirts in denim are still favourites and the trends point toward straight, skinny jeans. Handcrafted looks, peasant touches, and rugged outerwear - top the list of important trends for back-to-school teen fashion - all with denim. The glittery ones in your closet are no longer stylish, choose low-cut basics. Wear with pointy-toe, kitten-heel boots for fresh diva style; top with a romantic top for a stylish look [smocking, gathers, puffy sleeves and embroidery touches] - smart when paired with jeans and boots for fall.

Fabrics for winter 2002/03 are knits, jerseys, and tropical wools, as well as banner stripes, distressed leathers and silks. Military looks with a feminine touch, featuring navy blue, which hasn't been shown in years for fall, as well as Army greens. It's an elegant look - rather than a grungy army fatigue look - with epaulettes, gold buttons, double-breasted jackets, pieced together with feminine blouses. Wear a printed tee shirt, knit or blouse to tie a theme together. Animal prints are still 'in', but now with feathers and furs added.

Colours go from various shades of black to light sandblast. [Medium-range tints won't be as stylish]. Worn looks continue: whiskers, faded knees and bums, frayed hems keep the vintage trend alive. Gone are the glitter and studs of seasons past; instead, look for leather laceups and embroidery around the leg area, seams and cuffs.

For something different, striped jeans [as in engineer styles] or replace jeans with cords. If worn with a fitted black top, the look is striking - or a low-slung fringe belt. You can go for a distressed brown leather style or a sleeker macramé version and still achieve the same funky look. Worn low on the hips and with lots of attitude. Also, to keep the prairie floral or gauzy tops looking smart, pair with dirty denim or suede. Other groovy looks include crochet, suede, and beads. And don't forget the turquoise just yet. The always-in-style pieces like fitted denim jackets, chinos [khaki trousers], and oxfords are key pieces that can be worn with any trendy look to avoid going overboard.

Check out plaids, tweeds, and argyles in fresh patterns, and keep an eye out for fitted cable-knit sweaters, low-button polo tops, and monograms. Keep the look new by mixing it up - wear a rugby style top with a big suede belt; pair the plaid skirt with an athletic hood but keep it colour- coordinated, wear khakis with a funky little peasant top and kitten heels.

In America blues are important in various shades as seen in the sky and water to give comfort during a difficult economic period. Metallic colours, including silver and gold, are often worn with white.

Ethnic groups are represented in fashion, such as Choctaw, Chippewa and Iroquois and leather fringe trim on boots.

For dress-up: fur in bibs and trim, along with handsome fox wraps. Plenty of hot colors, such as crystal-embroidered brick jackets and turquoise-flared minis over beautiful Inuit-style, hand-sewn ankle boots with fringes.

Some models appeared in the latest fashion show dressed as citified Inuit in their high red heels, bobby sox, a tight skirt under a draped strapless silk bustier. Also, actually wearable was a short brown shearling jacket with furry stripes, worn over a multicolored elastic hip girth and colourful chiffon skirt.

The whole theme is primitive. A lot of the outfits have an unfinished look - it's a casual line with a lot of bleaching and sandblasting.

(Article) - The 'I hate to shop' guide to updating your work wardrobe

Love to look great but hate shopping? You're not alone. Urged on by the back-to-school nip in the air, many women feel they need something new. Especially if last year's "old standbys" feel like this year's "only if everything else is at the dry cleaner." Fortunately, it is possible to update your closet without overhauling your wardrobe, making a dent in your finances, or getting crazy about it-just follow these four steps.

Step 1:

Go through your clothes and discard anything you know you won't wear again. It can be tough to part with old favorites, but your rule of thumb should be if you didn't wear it last year, you're not going to wear it this year.

Donate your discards to a charity such as Dress for Success (www.dressforsuccess.org), The Salvation Army, or a local house of worship. Or, to earn some extra cash for your shopping spree, sell your clothes to a consignment shop or secondhand clothing store.

Step 2:

Look at what's left and notice what's missing. What do you usually wear to work? Make a list of what you need to shop for-blouses, sweaters, slacks, skirts, dresses, shoes-and set a budget.

Step 3:

Check out the new fall fashions by looking at magazines, seeing what friends and coworkers are wearing, and, of course, visiting us here at www.alight.com. Keep an eye toward what would flatter your shape and coloring.

Step 4:

Think basic and neutral when you're shopping. Choose a palette that flatters your coloring-brown, gray, navy, tan, khaki, red-and build on that so you can mix and match. Then personalize your look with some cool accessories-a big flower pinned at the shoulder, a luxurious wrap, or a great handbag.

alight.com - Steals & Deals
Shop by category, designer and price at alight.com. Visit our Steals & Deals section for surprising sales.

(Article) - Stacy London's Six Steps to Seasonal Clothing Care - By TLC's "What Not To Wear" Host Stacy London

(ARA) - Doesn't it seem like we were just hauling summer clothes out of storage and burrowing for our bathing suits? What happened? Summer faded faster than a fashion fad. Now with winter setting in, it's time to switch Capri's for cardigans and prepare our wardrobes for winter. But before you simply dump your best summer clothes in storage boxes and break out your winter wardrobe, plan ahead. An extra 30 minutes now could protect your clothes year round.

There are six basic steps to winterizing your wardrobe and getting organized:

Weed Your Wardrobe

Before you drag everything you own off their hangers and switch them for winter, isn't this the perfect time to weed your wardrobe? Cast aside items that didn't make the grade all summer -- no point in storing unwise impulse buys and fashion faux pas; 12 months in the basement or garage will only make them look worse next summer.

Some people will tell you to donate any winter item you didn't wear last year, but you can be ruthless without being rash. Cover the classics: every winter wardrobe needs a good woolen overcoat and a quality turtleneck, and a versatile pair of wool pants can be a lifesaver. If you're going to update anything with a few new buys, focus on footwear: fashion moves fast where feet are concerned, and an outdated boot cut or heel can date a look in an instant.

Clean and Freshen

Make sure your clothes are clean before they're packed or racked. You've been working hard in them all summer: planting flowers, running errands, grilling in the backyard. Even with regular cleaning, odors and oils that you just can't see can get trapped in fibers. Make sure, before you even think of storing them, that they're thoroughly cleaned. Products that are fragrance-based will make your clothes smell good for a quick fix but won't get them clean. A trip to the drycleaner seems like the only answer, but what most people don't realize is that you can sidestep dry-cleaning. Check a label: if it says "Dry Clean" instead of "Dry Clean Only," you can use a mild soap and warm water to hand-wash the garment. It's faster and less expensive.

There also are a ton of new home gadgets on the market that can help you clean better, faster and less expensively, not just when you're packing or unpacking seasonal clothes but year-round too. The Maytag Neptune Drying Center -- a multi-functional dryer -- can refresh delicate woolens, suits and other difficult-to-clean clothes. It combines a large capacity dryer big enough for any bulky bedspreads and heavy clothing loads with a clever upper drying cabinet where you can hang- or flat-dry sweaters and other delicates in a fraction of the time it takes to air-dry around your house. The upper drying cabinet uses steam to clean and refresh clothes, minimizes shrinkage and also gets rid of wrinkles.

As the weather becomes cooler and you pull your winter wardrobe out of hiding, it's also great for refreshing your sweaters, jackets and wool pants that have been cooped up for the last six months, making them ready for the first crisp day of the season.

Store Smart

A box isn't just a box. What you store your clothes in can affect their shape and quality, and how long they last. Even new cardboard boxes will degrade over seasons in a dark attic or humid basement and attract bugs that will go to work on the fabric of your clothes. An old suitcase, properly vacuumed and wiped clean, makes the best storage option. Line the case with acid-free tissue -- or an old pillow case -- and store them in a cool, dark and, most important, dry place. Mildew and moths thrive in humid or damp environments.

Hang and Stack

You'll save space if you pack correctly. Sweaters and other knit items should never be hung in the back of a closet or in a basement storage area. Long-term hanging can damage fibers and leave your favorite sweater misshapen. Whatever you hang, you should use the garment's extra hanging loops to protect the shape. Fold knit items carefully and stack them, heavy to light and top to bottom, in a cool, dry place.

Give Your Clothes a Breath of Fresh Air

Don't bundle delicate seasonal clothes in bags. Plastic doesn't allow a fabric to breathe and can even cause lighter garments to discolor over long periods. Wrap your clothes in a breathable fabric or invest in cotton garment bags. Sheets and pillowcases work well and will protect your clothes from dust and bugs.

It's also a good idea to take your clothes out of storage and air them a little before putting them back into service when the appropriate time comes.

Label

I'm a big believer in labeling. Divide, conquer and label. Store clothes by family member or in logical groups -- skirts and dresses, pants and suits -- and label what you have. Seems obvious, but it's so easy to store your clothes in a hurry and worry about them when the heat is on next summer. Take time now and you'll be glad you did.

Seasonal clothing care isn't a joy, but it shouldn't be a chore either. Follow these simple steps and both you and your best outfits will breeze through winter.

(Article) - Men's Fashion Tips

Mens dress shirts can do wonders for the man. With the best fit it can definitely flatter the man's build and frame. And with the right play of colors and patterns it can give radiance to your face as well as rejuvenate any of your dull colored suit.

More often than not, there are men who have a preset view that every single mens dress shirt is the same or about the same. Such men will not pay attention on the details on them. So they will never know what they are going to buy is of good quality with an impressive style.

Remember that mens dress shirts do not need to be homogenous and monotonous in shape, style, and design. Every shirt can be different through subtle detailing of the fabric, pattern, collar, buttons, placket, and cuffs.

Knowing about detailing on dress shirts will empower you to make the right decision when buying both off-rack or bespoke shirts. In tailored-made shirts, you can play around with various detailing to create your own style and even a different style for every shirt you tailor.

An interesting feature about a man's shirt worn by any two men is that it can still bring about a different feel and style for each man. This is because of the difference in the men's body frame, personality, as well as the combination with other apparels like suits.

The proper pairing of shirts with the right suiting or pants is important in bringing out every man's individual fashion styling.

With the correct mix and match as well as balancing the patterns and solid colors between your shirts, suits, and ties, we can prevent anything too loud (like a clown's suit) or overly understated.

Remember that fundamentally, any man will always look good in a clean and well pressed shirt. It provides a refreshing feel that signals also a sense of responsibility in the man.

A crisp, well-stitched shirt with firm construction over a soft fabric tells a lot about a man's attitude and status especially in the corporate world.

It definitely pays to learn about caring for your shirt since it is the fundamental to make it look lasting. You can easily imagine how others perceive men wearing a tired and worn out shirt.

Furthermore, developing good habits on proper care for dress shirts help to reduce the need to replace with new ones, unless of course fashion trend has taken its toll on it.

So it is good to update yourself about the fashion trends directions once a while just to keep your choice of shirts up to date.

If you like swimwear, could there have be a better place to be? Whether you like fashion shows or not, or whether you just appreciate looking for a sexy bikini, the 19th annual Ujena Bikini Jam in Cancun had all the sexy swimwear, bikinis, models and fun that anyone could take in.

Bikini modeling and photography is a passion of mine, and this event brought them together with awesome fashion and people from all over the world. Models and photographers alike got discovered, the new line of Swimwear was introduced, and the beaches were packed. It was truly a party.

Here's the cool part. If you are a model or a photographer, you can enter the competition for a chance to become the Ujena Model of the year or Photographer of the year. There are qualifying events in various locations, and if you want more information about that, feel free to e-mail me. Oh yeah, there was also a talent show and a costume party to boot.

So 5 days in Cancun, around 80 competing models and photographers, photo shoots, judging, nightclubs, sexy bikinis, over $4000 in cash prizes, margaritas in the sun, need I say more?

How do I fit in to all this? Well I have a tough job. I have to look at bikinis all day. The new KlickCommerce system has been developed in order to provide the world with the most beautiful swim suits, bikinis, and beachwear available. I help bring these gorgeous catalogs to your computer screen. Next years event, the 20th annual Ujena Bikini Jam, is September 1-5, 2005 in Cabo San Lucas and I have been asked to be a judge. Are you kidding? I am there!

But that's not all. KlickCommerce is planning to partake in this year's event by sponsoring a model and sending her on the trip with paid competition entry, air fare, hotel accommodations and more. It is our goal to hold a "mini-Bikini Jam" in order to help create awareness and offer one select model a chance of a lifetime.

About KlickCommerce and the Web Bikini Stores:

KlickCommerce has been developed as a network of secure online e-commerce sites bringing you the latest fashions in women's beachwear, casual clothing, fitness apparel, swimwear, sexy dresses and bikinis.
(Article) - Lasting Permanent Men's Fashion

Many men have been approaching me for advice on what they can wear to appear professional or what they should wear so that they do not look outdated but overtly trendy. So I would greatly suggest understanding the basics of men's fashion and put this knowledge into a permanent mens fashion style. There would not be anymore worry about following trends but perpetually looking stylish.

The basics of men's fashion boil down to knowing what each piece of apparel is made up of. The fabrics used determine a lot on the quality of the apparel. Good fabrics allow the apparel to withstand wear and tear. If any men's clothing or accessories that wear out fast would naturally make it look old and badly cared. This does not reflect well of the men wearing it and easily put most men out of style just by looking shaggy.

The next important point we need to note are the details found in every apparel and accessories. Details can be subtle but it creates a very big impact in the eventual outlook of the styling. So before we start playing with details, the knowledge of each detail's responsibility and how it helps in holding up the item or even gives significance to it in style can assist us in choosing the best men's clothing.

Learning how to coordinate is another tough thing for many men. It does not need to be if they just understand about the various concepts of coordination. Starting from differentiating the type skin complexion they belong to would be the most basic knowledge to acquire. Then they just need to put on the right color clothing against their complexion that perks up their facial skin tone and brings the attention to their face.

After that, coordinating colors between the various men's clothing is another method. There are various ways to match different and similar or same hues as well as the shades of hues to achieve the nicest blend of colors. If they are adventurous, then there are more that they can create that puts two very contrasting colors and yet a harmonious fusion of such colors without looking weird or clownish.

Putting patterns against each other is another challenging task in mens fashion. It is through the play of patterns that can make many men look very trendy and stylish. If not properly done, those clashing patterns would be a very trying and poorly executed attempt. It boils down in knowing the types of patterns and their scale before choosing how to put them together. Men can go for two to four similar or different patterns coordination without even looking overdoing the matching. It is fundamental to keep the flow of patterns as natural as possible and create a relaxing look from the combination.

It is good to have an idea of how to put all these mens clothing and accessories together. >From there we can develop a permanent styling and never have to worry about the next trend or whether it is unprofessional. All aspects of men's fashion would be touched on and if you are daring enough it is always possible to transform it into fashionable styling.

(Article) - Save those clothes!

Runs in Hose

When you buy your hose make sure it is the correct size. Hose that is too small is more easily ruined.

Before you wear your hose hand wash them and allow to drip dry. Then mix 2 1/2 cups of salt and one gallon of water and soak your hose for 4 hours. Rinse thoroughly and drip dry.

Carry clear polish to stop any runs immediately. It is possible the run is in a place that does not show and you may still be able to wear this pair, at least with slacks. Where your less that perfect hose with slacks, and save new and unblemished hose for skirts and dresses.

Ink Stains

Ink on your favorite shirt? Here is the solution.

An ink pen just leaked all over your favorite shirt, or worse, your husband left one in his pocket and it exploded in the dryer all over the whole load.

What do you do? Is there any way to get out the ink?

Pick up some inexpensive aerosol hair spray and use it liberally all over the stain to break up the ink. The sooner you catch the stain the easier it is to get it out. So try to keep some on hand for future accidents.

Chewing gum, a sticky situation!

Some people qualify gum chewing as a bad habit, I don't know if I would go that far. But I do know that leaving your already chewed gum in places others inadvertantly come into contact with is thoughtless and inconsiderate.

Since I doubt we will rehabilitate the world on their gum disposal at anytime soon, or if ever, we will still from time to time get caught in other people's sticky situations.

If it happens to be your clothes that get caught, and it doesn't easily come off, try putting the item in the freezer and chipping off the gum when it is frozen.

(Article) - Hat Tips for Women

Hats should be fun! But - here's what the fashion experts say:

Petite women should wear small brimmed, small crowned hats.

If you want to look taller, go for a little higher crown with a slope crease.

Tall women should wear wider brimmed, shorter crowned hats.

Full figured women should avoid high crowns and go with curled brims and dramatic creases.

If you have a long face, put a big curl in your brim and keep away from narrow brims.

If you have a round face, go with a higher crown, but stay away from round brims.

If you have a triangular face, go with a small brim with a big roll and a high crown.

If you have a square face, try a peaked crown and a curled brim, and wear your hat at an angle.

If you have an oval face, you've got the perfect face for any hat you want to wear.

Whatever way you go, never wear your hat on the back of your head. Tilt it, pull it down, or wear it straight.

(Article) - Choosing Pearl Jewelry

When choosing pearls there are a number of things to consider besides just the quality of the pearls. While there is no right or wrong way to chose pearls, here are a few tips you should consider.

Necklace Length - You can buy pearl necklaces in a number of different lengths. Generally speaking, shorter necklaces flatter long necks, while long necklaces are nice for smaller necks. The lengths and names are as follows.

Collar - 12-13"
Choker - 14-16"
Princess - 17-19"
Matinee - 20-25"
Opera - 26-36"
Rope - 37" or longer

The most popular is the Princess length since it is a good length for both long and smaller necks.

Pearl Color - The pearl color does not affect the value of the pearl, instead it is completely in the eye of the beholder. Most people buy pearls that best match their skin tone. People with light skin usually buy white or pink pearls while people with darker skin tones tend to buy black or lavender pearls. In America, white pearls are the most popular, while in Asia, silver are the most sought after.

Pearl Sets - When buying pearl jewelry you should consider if you want an entire set, or just a certain piece. If for instance, you buy the necklace, and then later decide to buy the bracelet / earrings they may not match as well as if you had bought a set. Even if you buy the same size, and color, the style may not be the same. Some stores will allow you to buy the individual pieces of a set. So if you want to buy the other pieces at a later time, they will still match.

About the Author:

StrictlyPearls.com specialized in pearl jewelry. You will find great necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and sets. You will also find information on pearl quality, types of pearls, and pearl care.

(Article) - Blame It On Rio: U.S. Men's Retailer Makes a Splash with Swimwear from Brazil

Washington, D.C. (June 10, 2002)...When most of us think of Brazil, we think of beautiful beaches with scantily-clad tanned bodies. And for aficionados of the sport, perhaps the name also conjures up soccer balls, Pele and yellow jerseys-especially now in the midst of World Cup fever. But for one retailer in particular, Brazil has become something new: an amazing source of new trends in swimwear.

Universal Gear, a young men's fashion retailer headquartered in Washington, DC traveled to Rio de Janeiro this past winter in search of the latest summer styles. "Our interest developed a few years ago when a friend came back from a family vacation in Brazil with amazing bathing suits," states David Franco, President and co-founder of the 4-store chain. "We finally decided it was time for us to explore that opportunity further." Keith Clark, the company's Vice President adds, "What really appealed to us was the combination of great fabrics, amazing new designs and great wholesale prices."

Though the suits have only recently arrived to officially kick off the summer season, the company has found the customer responses to be extremely positive so far. According to Director of Marketing, Ricardo Zapata, "Our customers tend to be fashion-forward, early adopters of fashion, so they're always on the look-out for new cuts or designs, so this collection really appeals to them." Perhaps the most interesting twist of the collection is a swimsuit called the Army Cut-which is wider on the sides than your average bikini, though not quite a squarecut-a style that has become the most popular cut in Brazil for men of all ages. The suits are also meant to be worn lower on the hips for a sexier fit, highlighting the lower abdominals, elongating the torso and accentuating the customer's backside.

Another key thread that runs throughout the collection is the occurrence of tie-dye in bright color-ways. Though tie-dye made a fierce comeback into fashion last Spring (that has continued throughout this season's collection), this extension into swimwear is at once daring and sexy.

The company-which targets young men by offering fashionable casualwear, underwear and accessories from top designer names like G-Star, Energie, Diesel, DKNY, Kenneth Cole, French Connection, Lucky Brand, Adidas, 2(x)ist and others-hopes to continue looking South for new lines that stand out.

About the Author:

Universal Gear
Universal Gear carries men's clothing, swimwear, underwear and accessories from top designers like Diesel, G-Star, Energie, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, 2(x)ist, Levi's, Adidas and more. Great selection, secure checkout and fast shipping.

Universal Gear currently operates three retail locations in Washington, D.C. (1601 17th St., NW 202/319.0136), Chicago, Illinois (3153 N. Broadway 773/296.1090) and New York City (140 8th Avenue 212/206.9119) as well as an online store (www.universalgear.com) which is now in its third year of operation. Through these outlets, Universal Gear has established a solid reputation as a high-quality provider of clothing and accessories for the fashion-conscious man. The company has also signed an intent to lease agreement in Atlanta's trendy Midtown neighborhood-the second step in the company's expansion plan of opening 5 new stores by 2005.
