President Bola Tinubu revealed that he occasionally checks in on Mr, Muhammadu Buhari. He also commended Buhari for maintaining his vow not to interfere with his administration and visited his farm in Daura, Katsina State.

He made this known on Tuesday during the launch of Femi Adesina’s book “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023).”

President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that he has occasionally checked in on his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, following his departure from office in 2023.

Tinubu revealed that he contacts the former president to see whether he is still alive and well and working on his farm in Daura, Katsina State.

During his remarks, Tinubu also commended Buhari for maintaining his vow not to meddle or interfere with how he conducts his administration

He said; “When I call him (on the phone) to say, ‘Are you living? Are you going to the farm?’ you don’t hear from him (Buhari), either to nominate or intrude in the cabinet or complain about issues. Thank you for being who you are.”

He said Buhari separated himself from his administration on May 29, 2023, and returned to his hometown when he handed over authority.

According to President Tinubu: “After handing over, you (Buhari) said, ‘I will be far away in Daura but if you need me, contact me.’ I won’t intrude on whatever you are doing. I won’t interfere. I won’t breathe down your throat. We’ve partnered to make democracy flourish in Nigeria.”

NNPP and AAC are yet to upload their candidates’ details on nomination portal - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that the African Action Congress (AAC) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are yet to upload details of their candidates contesting for different political positions on the commission’s nomination portal.

INEC's national commissioner ‘Festus Okoye’ for information and voter education told newsmen that all political parties that conducted valid primaries are expected to upload their candidates’ details via its nomination portal from July 1 to July 15.

The Nigeria electoral commission has so far processed 6,995 nomination forms uploaded by 16 out of 18 political parties for the constituencies where they intend to sponsor candidates.

The statement read;

“However, two political parties, the African Action Congress (AAC) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), are yet to upload a single nomination to the portal.

“The Commission hereby reminds all political parties that they have three days left to upload their list of candidates to the ICNP. The deadline is Friday 15th July 2022. The portal will automatically shut down at 6.00pm on that date.

“Meanwhile, the Commission has continuously responded to requests for the issuance of Certified True Copies (CTCs) of documents mainly arising from the conduct of party congresses, primaries and nomination of candidates. The number of requests processed has now risen to one million, six hundred and sixty-two thousand, nine hundred and eighty seven (1,662,987) pages of documents.

“Sadly, in spite of the Commission’s effort, 147 out of 476 requests processed as at today involving 5,646 pages are yet to be collected by applicants. The Commission appeals to prospective litigants to come forward and collect the certified copies of the documents.”

Pastor and others arrested over 50 kidnapped children found in a church basement in Ondo (videos)

A pastor and some church members have been arrested after 50 kidnapped children were found in a church basement in the Valentino Area of Ondo town, Ondo State.

The children were rescued on Friday night, July 1.

A video shared online shows the children in a patrol vehicle of a police van before they were taken to the police station.

The victims, who were said to be 50 in number, were alleged to be victims of a kidnap syndicate.

A group, Ekimogun Youths Connect, in a statement issued by its president, Mr Famakinwa Lucaskakaki, said it worked together with the police and the Amotekun officers to rescue the victims.

The statement reads: "About 14:00hrs of yesterday, Friday 1st of July, 2022, I was reliably informed that a particular Church in Valentino, Ondo City, called ‘Ondo Church’, locked people up in the church for over six months, telling them that Jesus Christ will come and meet them by September this year.

"The National President of the Great Constitutional Rights and Justice Forum, in person of Comrade Omotayo Omolayo, was also briefed and we mobilized down to the venue and we met about 50 people locked up in the church.

"The church has rooms where the pastor locked his members. The process of rescuing these ones with the help of Police officers, Amotekun, Atariajanaku and vigilante group, caused a lot of pandemonium that the people under lock started beating us.

"The pastor, the church workers and the people under lock have been arrested and whisked to Akure."

Three Things To Expect From Naira Marley’s Album Dropping Next Week

If everything goes as planned, this time next week we will have Naira Marley’s album.

The album, called “God’s Timing’s The Best” will be Naira Marley’s debut album and his first project since 2019’s “Lord of Lamba” EP.

Well, fingers are crossed as to what the Marlian boss is bringing for us, but whatever it is, this is Naira Marley’s one chance to prove himself. Not that he needs to do a lot of proving anyway. Just that lately he’s been slipping up.

While setting our hopes for the release, here’s four things I think we can reasonably expect from “God’s Timing’s The Best.”

1. Not Much Rap

Naira Marley hasn’t really done a lot of rap recently. He’s been on his usual sing-rap vibe that he’s been doing for years now. Nothing hardcore.

So it’s probably reasonable to not expect that he goes beast mode on this one. The tracklist also suggests he’ll be doing a lot of singing this time too. Especially with the inclusion of his already released tracks like the recent collabo with Zinoleesky, “Odun.

2. Amapiano As Usual

One thing the Marlians would never get tired of is the amapiano sound. Whether it’s Naira Marley or Mohbad or Zino, it’s always going to be an amapiano fest.

There’s already “Kojosese,” “Coming,” “Odun,” and “First Time in America.” Well, best believe there’s going to be a lot of amapiano sounds on the album for sure.

3. Few Hits

I honestly don’t think that Naira Marley has it in him anymore. If there are going to be any hits, besides the ones he already has, it’s going to be few. Maybe one or two at the most.

This ain’t 2019. In 2019, Naira Marley could drop an EP and all the tracks will be hits from “Mafo” to “Tingasa.” But again, this ain’t 2019. He doesn’t have that pull anymore. So don’t expect him to be topping charts or anything.

For over a year, I have waited to see if Naira Marley would change, or at least evolve. But no, all he’s done is just more of the same things he’s always done.

I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t get any Album of the Year nod at all. I guess it’s just as well. Naira Marley isn’t really that guy that needs all of that validation.

It Is Practically Impossible For President Muhammadu Buhari To Pay Condolence Visits to States Affected By Insecurity – Minister of Police Affairs

A Source has it that the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, has said it is practically impossible for President Muhammadu Buhari to pay condolence visits to states and families affected by insecurity.

Recently, the president’s presence at a book launch hours after some passengers were burnt alive by bandits in Sokoto, triggered a backlash.

Although Buhari later dispatched a high-powered delegation to Sokoto and Katsina States, where troubling incidents happened, critics still faulted his absence.

Dingyadi said the incessant attacks and killings by the terrorists are too frequent to allow the president visit all the places.

But in an interview with BBC Hausa, the minister said it is not possible for Buhari, as a president to visit all the places due to nature of his job and the occurrences of the attacks.

“These attacks are happening almost on a daily basis and is not possible for the president to visit all the places for condolences. And if you send a delegation, it is as if you were there, is all the same,” he said.

The minister also said that the security operatives in the country are working tirelessly to checkmate the activities of bandits.

In his reaction, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Sabon Birni, Aminu Boza said sending delegation is not what they want from the president, rather they want action that will end activities of banditry in the state.

“Of course president Buhari’s entourage has come to meet us, but that is not what we want. What we want presently is action. In my local government area, hundreds of people have been killed but yet the federal government has not taken any action.”

Attahiru Bafarawa, a former governor of Sokoto, had alleged that the president did not visit the state because the peoples’ lives meant nothing to him.

South East Governor are now in Support of ESN flushing Out Bandit, Herdsmen in the Forest

Since South Eastern Governors have now listened and done the right thing, we should all ‘clap’ for them. It is now up to #ESN to rigorously enforce this law the same way Hisbah Police has been dutifully enforcing the Alcohol Prohibition Laws of 12 Sharia states of core Northern Nigeria, most notably in Kano.

It stands to reason that Governors of the East do not have any law enforcement unit capable of policing killer herdsmen except #ESN. Therefore it will be in their best interest to support the efforts of #ESN to ensure this very LAW they made is legally and robustly enforced.

The best option for Fulani killer herdsmen is for them to vacate the forests and bushes of the East, head into the nearest town to rent an accommodation as other ethnic groups are doing in Fulani controlled core Arewa north, or face the wrath of #ESN .

These controls allow you to restrict the kind of content that your kids see online. It also allows you to rest easy while your kids enjoy the internet over such devices and services, knowing that there is a lesser chance of exposure to inappropriate content.

Keep a Keen eye
Even with parental control algorithms, some slip-ups happen from time to time. Most times, malicious content creators can spoof the algorithm to get around, thereby exposing your children to inappropriate content.
It is advisable to have a general computer in a visible part of the home where you can keep an eye on what your kids are doing online. Likewise, check through their internet history frequently to ensure they are not being exposed to poor content.

Have a Conversation
Discuss the merits and demerits of the internet with them to know what they are up against. Being upfront and open with them this way also opens up a channel of communication. They get to trust you better and can bring issues to you as soon as they happen.
That way, you can stay on top of situations better. That beats just forcing them to adhere to specific internet rules without knowing why.

Install Security Software
Children are not sophisticated enough to spot adware, malicious messages, poor WIFI connection, etc. Even adults fall victim to this, so we cannot blame them.

Download antivirus software to help keep your kid’s device away from malicious software. Another effective and easy-to-use security software is a VPN. It prevents online predators from tracking down a child’s location with their IP address. Consider downloading a VPN app to increase protection for your child.

Set Strong Passwords
Set strong passwords on your kids’ devices, and let them know never to share those passwords with others. For better safety, change these passwords frequently till they are old enough to remember and set their passwords.

Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo, 30, was pictured with a mystery female training partner as he carried out some exercise routine in a public park in Cheshire.

According to The Sun, the Nigerian international was pictured at a local Cheshire park training with the mystery woman ahead of the top flight's potential return on June 1.

At one point, the former Watford striker was spotted signing an autograph for a fan who passed him a note pad and pen to have his signature, while abiding by the strict social distancing rules.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Ighalo's permanent move to Manchester United is now in doubt with his parent club, Shanghai Shenhua expecting him back in time for the start of the new Chinese Super League season, which is scheduled to begin in July.

Shanghai Shenhua will only allow Ighalo to remain at Old Trafford if it is on a permanent deal for £20m and not an extension for a loan as Manchester United are requesting.

Ighalo recently admitted that he was willing to finish the current season with Manchester United.

'I would like to finish the season if it's possible. I was in good form, good shape, scoring goals and now we've stopped for over a month. I've given it my best and hopefully we'll come back to play. The team had a good momentum before the pandemic started. At the moment I'm on loan, and this will cut short my time at the club.'

Ighalo's current contract expires in December 2022, but Shanghai wants to keep him until at least December 2024 in a deal worth £400,000 a week.

Jonathan’s Former Aide, Okupe, Wife Recover From COVID-19

A former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, says he and his wife, Aduralere, have just been discharged after spending about two weeks in an isolation ward in Sagamu, Ogun State, for Covid-19 treatment.

Okupe said this in a Facebook post on Tuesday. He wrote:

“On April 23, my wife Aduralere and I tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. That same day we were moved to the isolation ward facilities in Sagamu. Glory be to God Almighty Jehovah and His Son Jesus Christ through whose blood that was shed for us at Calvary and by whose stripes we became healed and tested negative twice for the Covid-19 Virus. We were discharged from the isolation centre, in the early hours of today.”

The former Presidential aide thanked Ogun state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who sent him prayers very regularly, in spite of his busy schedule as chief executive.

“I thank the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, who was a flower girl at my wedding in 1977. I also thank the health workers under the leadership of Dr Olaitan and Dr Ayeni.
“It is incredible what dangerous and sometimes sacrifices they paid, including very long hours of work stretching for a week at a time, all to ensure that we, the patients under their care live. My wife and I are grateful to you all,” he said.

A married nursery worker who had sex with a 13-year-old boy and had his baby, has been exposed.

20-year-old Leah Cordice from Windsor, who was studying child care while working at the local nursery drunkenly walked into the boy’s bedroom where he was playing computer games and pulled down his trousers before having sex with him, the court heard.

It was also claimed that she continued having unprotected intercourse with the child twice a month for a year, even while she was pregnant and after she gave birth to a girl.

Her husband believed the child was his but a later DNA test showed that the schoolboy was actually the father, Reading Crown Court heard.

Prosecutors told how the boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had later said to police in interview: ‘You are supposed to have sex and, like, love each other. It was just like, she just wanted to do it. Now I feel like she did not really care about me.’

The jury also heard how the woman went to the boy’s house drunk in January 2017 and pulled his trousers down while he was playing computer games. She was 17 at that time.

Matters only came to the attention of the local authority, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council, in the course of family proceedings in relation to Ms Cordice’s child.

A DNA testing revealed that her child is the complainant’s biological daughter.’

Cordice and the boy continued having unprotected sex roughly twice a month until the start of 2018, the court heard, a few weeks before the boy, who had turned 14, was interviewed by police.

Ms Ong, speaking of the police interview, told the jury: ‘The boy said that he and Ms Cordice started having sexual intercourse when he was 13 years old.

‘The defendant, Ms Cordice, was drunk, she went around to his address, she went into his bedroom and at first, they talked normally and he continued playing on his Xbox and watching YouTube.

‘Ms Cordice then sat on his bed and started to hug him and kiss him and it carried on.

‘He said, “I could not really say no. She would have kept asking and asking me to have sex”. Afterwards, he felt that it was a bit weird and that she did not say anything to him afterwards.’

The court also heard that the boy was the first person Cordice told that she was pregnant. The mother of one also showed him an app on her phone which disclosed the date she had conceived was the first time they had had sex.

Even after Cordice got married to her long-term partner, she continued having sex with the boy.

An ex-military officer, Silvanus Kwange has been left in shock after finding out that his son-in-law Christopher Chori. impregnated his second wife, Priscilla Kwange.

According to The Sun, Mr Kwange, a native of Tiv from Taraba State, has been married to Priscilla for about 10 years without a child. He married her after the demise of his first wife.

Mr Kwange was advised to send Priscilla packing but Christopher, his son-in-law married to his daughter Faith, advised him against this.

Faith and Christopher who have been married for over four years welcomed their first child in May 2019 but their joy was shortlived as she died a week after from complications from the caesarian section she underwent.

Priscilla was told to leave their home in Taraba and move in with Christopher to nurse the baby. One thing led to another and they began having sex and she became pregnant for him.

Mr Kwange speaking on this said;” I know the importance of her coming to stay in Lafia for some period of time, to take care of the new born baby whose mother is late. I thought it was my own responsibility to help my son-in-law and the new baby of my late daughter. So, I allowed my own wife to come and help. Is that an offence?”

Omoyele Sowore has shared a story about a Nigerian man who was allegedly detained for 10 weeks for using a phone line previously used and abandoned by President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan.

According to a friend of the man that arrested, the man named Anthony Chude Okolie reportedly bought the new sim card from a shop without knowing who the previous owner was. He was shocked when DSS allegedly arrived at his friend's home in Asaba to arrest him and detained him for months.

Sowore, convener of the Revolution Now movement, shared the story on his Twitter handle "A Nigerian, Anthony Okolia, was detained for 10 weeks by the DSS for using an MTN phone line previously used and abandoned by President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan!"

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has warned that if Christians are provoked into taking up arms, the country will burn.

The former minister gave this warning while reacting to the statement of Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar that Muslims in the country won’t be provoked into carrying arms.
