I used to ride my Powerwheels Jeep down the street to the house of a family friend, where our friend Mike taught me the finer points of Oreo consumption. Here, I learned the proper way to eat this magical cookie: dunked in milk.

The lessons I learned from Mike started me on a life of dunking and dipping. I am a big fan of ketchup for fries, bbq sauce for sausages, salsa, spicy mustard, dip, dunk, sink, submerge.

There are even different kinds of Oreos! Mint Oreos, double stuffed Oreos, strawberry Oreos, chocolate Oreos, and my obsession for the last few years… Golden Oreos.

In the spirit of the day, my good friend Lainna Fader shared this bit of trivia with me:

      If every Oreo cookie ever made were stacked on top of each other (more than 345 billion…), the pile would reach to the moon and back more than five times. Then again, if placed side-by-side, they would encircle the earth 381 times at the equator. Holy crap.

In celebration of the special day, I will be partaking in one of my favorite snacks–Oreos and penutbutter.

Now that I’m in law school, I have a specific direction and no longer feel like I’m just aimlessly floating along. In fact, the first year of law school is a little like being in an out of control roller coaster –  fluctuating between intense anticipation and vertigo inducing speed. Oddly enough, being back in school helps remind me of who I am, what I want, and where I’m going.

With my life finally stabilizing, I’ve found myself thinking about how I would observe Lent this year. My life is pretty sparse, but one thing came to mind: Netflix. I don’t have a lot of time in the day, but I usually put a movie or tv show on while I’m cooking meals, taking study breaks, or the rare occasion I actually stop working before I go to sleep. I’m choosing to sacrifice this in order to spend my time more fruitfully. If I’m taking a study break, I’ll clean something or play my guitar; if I’m cooking I’ll put on a record or an audio book; if I’m calling it quits for the night I’ll actually go to sleep when I say I’m going to sleep. With this I’ll make better use of the time I do have, so I can worry less about the time I don’t have.

Unrelated: My friend Matt and I were talking about this band today. Please, enjoy the best part of 2002.

The preparation of finals involved me growing a beard of shame.

The beard of shame has now transformed into the mustache of power. Many powerful men have worn this style of mustache.

My new mustache gives me the power of a viking warrior.

Since the advent of the Amazon Wishlist, it’s been a little easier. If I see something while browsing around on the internet, I just add it to my wishlist and direct people there. To help simply things a bit more, I’ll just post a few things here.

• MONEY: I’m a law student. I’m broke. But beyond that, there are some things I want to do that require me saving up a bit. (1) Buy art for my apartment, (2) print some of my photographs on canvas for my apartment, (3) begin saving for a new camera.
• A record player: Not a goofy dj turntable, not a dorky usb thing, not a weird little console, just a simple belt driven turntable available at Best Buy or Circuit City(online).
• Chet Baker Sings: I bought a very expensive original copy of this record for my ex, and I’m pretty sure she never listened to it. What a waste (on multiple levels.) But anyways, I’d love a vinyl copy of this California Jazz classic.
• Power strips: For a gift giver on a budget, I always need power strips. My apartment building is from the 20s and there aren’t a lot of power outlets.
• This hoodie.
