2011-04-01T17:45:00.000-07:00

Finally got around to posting this, as it is April Fifth and the post reads, "April First"...April Fools?? Nay, delayed gratification...Ha. Well, a summary of all thats happened:

MY BROTHER IS MARRIED!!! Alas, an incredible day watching it all happen here at home. So pumped for their life that has and is happening. My brother is something else. He is a lot of what goes on here & here. His wife is what makes it all happen as well. Love that girl.

Repossess transpired. It was incredible. So thankful to have been apart of it. Its been real.

Been loving my Hario V2! And the Aeropress! And...what brewer will be next?! Chemex, Vacuum?

Seasons are changing and the feeling that summer is drawing near has me day dreaming like it was going out of style.

Gonna be seeing & hearing some amazing music in the coming months and you can check a little out here by Fleet Foxes - Ocean Grown.

James Vincent McMorrow...Brooke Fraser...Fleet Foxes....Civil Wars...Adele...Carey Brothers...&more.

A SPECIAL MONTH :::

2011-03-01T17:45:00.000-08:00

This month is far and above special to me and my family because my bro is getting married!!! It's gonna be so GRAND! Its pretty unreal to think that it is finally happening, as in - someone in my family is getting married?!?!?! Woa, crazy for me...Dan is a fine man. I can trace many a good memory and experience back to this guy whom i've had the privilege to be brother to. Its wild how God sets up families...He knew that Dan & I needed to be bro's and that we needed each other - but really for me, I needed him. His character, his outlook, his ways...And now he is gonna share his life with another proper awesome human being - Elise! Man, he found a good one. I'm gonna have a sister-in-law?! This just keeps getting better....!!! I am in ultra typing shock with all this 'wild' jargon and exclamation points, but hey - I'm getting my point across I think and thats right I reckon. To my brother and his bride - I love you and am so full in my heart for your lives and journey that will continue now...Here we go.

It's been such a full month [january..] - and the things that transpired have been nothing short of hopeful, wonderful, & fun. I am learning to look back, even if it's for a short block of time, and to meditate on the things that happen - to see how truly incredible life is. I feel like I could spend the rest of the year just saying thank you to God for all the things He did for me and my family in January. Answered prayer, memories, vision, renewed hope. The reality of His promises and Word takes such a precedence when I find less of me and more of Him. Thats the hard bit, but the one by which all things good - are seen & heard. SEASONS are upon us all and I hope that your season doesn't seem to great a problem to fix or to small a victory to give praise. And all of us, no matter our season, can dwell on the greatest of all things. The paradox that we all share - His life for ours..how could that be? Thats what I walk from and into - Jesus Christ. Knowing Him and nothing else. Where To? STEWARDING THIS CITY, REPOSSESS ::: HOPE, & DISCIPLESHIP.

SOME OF THE SIGHTS//

TWENTY:::ELEVEN

2011-01-01T18:45:00.000-08:00

This year could be another calendar year. It could be. This year could be another year to survive and make it through. I realize - from a world view - that is sadly true. This year could bring fulfilled dreams and frightening tragedies. It's possible. This year might be looked forward to and it might be dreaded. I realize more than ever - perspective is going to make or break 2011; because things will get really bad - but they will get really good. Through all of this, this year for me is about one thing.

To resolve to know nothing but Christ.

The eleventh month has proven to be most excellent as holidays quickly approach!!! I am so stoked for Christmas and new years and thanksgiving and anything else we can stuff into those in between weeks and days...photo montage and a video to recap (plus a week) whats been happening:

Decorations started a bit earlier this year thanks to my wonderful wife who just can't resist a little pre-November Christmas decorating...Haha! We have everything pretty much done except for a tree and some lights...and its pretty hilarious to hear the whiners who can't comprehend an early Christmas...

Another record! But this is one for decade...There probably isn't a better piece of music made this decade that wouldn't be found on this album. I must thank you Jon for your thoughtfulness in the purveying of this fine piece of music. It has had many listens and many more will come...

My Love! She is the best thing!

We had a great time at seaside with so many other great people. We love times away and its so good to look back while looking forward and to see God at work in everything even in the times that are so painful or confusing. He really is Emmanuel.

A spinning table could only mean one thing...

Another update was due - so here I continue the photo/text version of whats been happening this past month in my life and some ideas of whats to come - cue month-in-review:::

I turned 24! It was such a good birthday (thanks love!) Enjoyed it to the max and I got a record player! And a couple more records (High Violet & Go Do)...Its a simple pleasure to listen to music this way and I am so happy to own one now...In rainbows, your next!

We had a great time in Boston. We had an incredible opportunity to come and share a piece of home with the community of Haverhill, Massachusetts for their conference call New England Youth Leaders Summit. We spent late nights developing/honing/crafting a new type of performance that as you can see involves people and arches and/or walls...Something good will come this.

It was the second time Torie and I got to travel away from home together and I can definitely say that it was one of the best destinations I've been...Boston is full of history and upon reading about many of the events that took place here, witnessing them firsthand only grew my curiosity and desire to learn about our foundations as a nation and the rich history that birthed our country. I anticipate the day where I will return and discover even more...Get to Boston in your lifetime!

Repossess 2010: Part Two was breathtaking. Seeing it happen again, through different mediums and expressions, continued its affect on my heart and spirit. Seeing God disarm people with love and unite an expression of worship through the church in our community is something that is unforgettable each time. It is a simple way to revel in Jesus Christ - of whom there is no match or better. He is beauty and truth; and He is Saviour.

I look forward to this next season of life...holidays, families gathering, study...I am looking forward to learning and allowing myself the room to express that learning. It is with ease that I say I am blessed and it is with hope that I would continue to find ways to plant that in others all the while resting in Christ.

Summer Updates - Much Ado & Plenty To Be Thankful For...Stoked For The Fall Though! Here Are Some Things That Have Been Happening:

Repossess rehearsals have been underway for a month and its been a joy creating with my friends...Lots of fun! Lots of ease! Lots of work! Excited about some of the songs that have some true arrangements. Stoked to share...

Thursdays at Ben Moore's - Some really fun jazz happening on these nights. I just recently heard these guys play and it was a reality check to hear this stuff in Olympia...So blessed to take part in music like this, even if its ears only for now.

How good is our city? Love the heights and depths that our city displays...The parks, the water, the alleys, the buildings, the fields, it goes on...And the people - so many great people here. Love that my friends are here and I'm discovering new ones by the week it seems.

I got a promotion at work! And this is my face...

Another record! Discovered Sean Carey via Justin Vernon and wow, what a great thing to find. Absolutely incredible music, massively inspiring, and yes, thank you Sean.

More Updates - Happenings To And Fro...Its Been A Wonderful Couple Months And I Look So Forward To Rest Of This Year And The Uncharted Roads It Holds...One For The Money, Two For The Show...

During June, I was pleasantly surprised by my wife with another incredible album - The National ::: BOXER ::: And I now feel as though I have a collection // Can you call three records a collection?? I reckon I have vinyl gold in my house and I couldn't be happier with what I have awaiting my ears...Still searching for the apparatus to play such beauties.

June was a wonderful month! Torie and I celebrated our first year married in Seattle and had an all-time weekend. I love my wife so much...What a treasure she is. She is the best part of our household and a vastly improved volleyball player...What A Lucky Guy...

Jon returned from Haiti! He was a part of some incredible stuff (teaching a trade,etc.)and I am pretty stoked to learn more about this via his stories and experiences...but overall its good to have him back.

July brought vacation, anniversary celebration (s), road trips, international travel, and a grip of new memories...We were so stoked and privileged to share much of it with the Beesons. We traveled over 2,000 miles on land and 2,000 miles by way of sea. Thats one fifth of the globe!

Repossess 2010: Part Two...It has been underway for quite some time and I am now feeling the momentum quicken...which is always a good thing! Some serious changes have gone into this and it hasn't been void of disappointment, but the difficulties hardly outweigh the things that we know to be evident...God is moving in our community, in our nation, and we get to join together in it ::: sharing with our neighbours, with our friends, with our churches - the hope we resonate.

This Is Going To Become More Frequent...I Can Promise That...But In the Meantime...Here Are Some More Updates Over The Last Month Or Week...

Bought my second vinyl from John Mark Mcmillan, himself. Got to meet him in Portland on Memorial Day before his show at Backspace Cafe. Very nice guy...was so kind and matter-a-fact about the whole thing. Really looking forward to giving this some playtime.

World Cup 2010!!! Starting this Friday! So stoked to watch it take place from a very special country to me...SOUTH AFRICA! Last time the world cup was happening, I was at Hillsong College...and wow, was that a month of late nights...Shout Out To Clayton Schult & Dean Simpson!

Last month, I recorded several tracks for Christina Mulkey's upcoming worship album at Fastback Studios. Its been six months of work shopping songs and writing which has brought both a learning curve and a enjoyment as I've worked with some of my best friends...I'm thankful.

I decided to let the lesser parts of the hair on my skull grow a bit and I must say, I cannot rightly conclude the true colour of my facial hair. Somewhere between Irishman, Mountain man, and Con Artist...I'll let my peers decide.

Mumford & Sons + The Middle East = A Completely Exciting And Capturing Show From Start To Finish...What an exciting and powerful show...people shouting the songs back...the bands giving a whirlwind performance...great memories and great times shared with my wife...

Its Gonna Be On Here Alot//And This Is A Big Issue I Reckon...Cause Everyone Deals With It.

Loneliness

Mother Teresa said, "Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat."

Loneliness is more than a feeling or an emotion… it’s isolation, it’s emptiness. It isn’t just wanting company… it’s feeling disconnected and alone.

It’s not the type of thing that you can list a few statistics to understand, but it is something we all would have experienced at some time.

It can be found in big cities, where people feel anonymous and cut off… lost in the crowd… without a community to attach to and identify with.

Yahweh Is Doing This

2009-10-27T20:10:00.000-07:00

“ The sun shall no longer be your light by day,
Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;
But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light,
And your God your glory.
Your sun shall no longer go down,
Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;
For the LORD will be your everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning shall be ended.
Also your people shall all be righteous;
They shall inherit the land forever,
The branch of My planting,
The work of My hands,
That I may be glorified.
A little one shall become a thousand,
And a small one a strong nation.
I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.”

[Isaiah 60:19-22]
