In a few days, Norma and I will fly to Costa Rica for nine days of preaching, teaching, mentoring and encouragement among our many Christian pastors and friends there.

As always, we can only carry out these plans with God’s miraculous provision, which He has ALWAYS faithfully provided, year after year, through our many supporting Christian partners. Please send us a generous donation today to make this next venture possible.

This will be our 19th mission adventure to Costa Rica since our first CR4C (Costa Rica for Christ) trip 16 years ago in 2008. We are not taking a team this time; it will just be Norma and me.

Praise God that two years after Norma’s multiple myeloma (bone cancer) diagnosis and her stem-cell transplant, Norma remains in complete remission! And praise God that my health is also doing well. It is our hope and intention to have many more years of productive ministry — in the U.S., Costa Rica, and India — before we go to join the Master.

Ambitious Plans

We have some ambitious plans for this Costa Rica trip:

• Friday, July 12: A full-day Discipleship University class, especially for pastors and church leaders but open to all. This class is one of my favorites in the Disc Univ series. End-times Bible prophecy: “What The Future Holds” — the Rapture, Tribulation, Antichrist, Second Coming, Messianic Kingdom, Judgment, and the New Earth.

• Saturday, July 13: “Family Reunion.” We work with 10 churches in CR. We will bring their pastors, leaders and members together in San José for a full day of preaching, worship, and fellowship. We will rent buses and send them out in all directions so these precious believers can attend. This event typically draws more than 150 church members from throughout CR.

• Sunday , July 14: Norma and I will worship with the Christian church in San Miguel, and I will do some preaching. Just earlier this year our CR4C mission team helped complete this new church building and the congregation recently began holding services there. We can’t wait to join them for worship in their new church home!

• Monday-Wednesday, July 15-17: Norma & I, Francisco Lopez, and Jovanny & Leticia Baez will travel together to CR’s Nicoya Peninsula. This is new territory for us; Norma and I have never been there before. We will travel for several hours — in a rented van and by ferry boat — to get there.

Thank you to the many who donated earlier this year to help Francisco bring his residency status up-to-date. For the last year, Francisco has been cultivating a new church work in the town of Cóbano on CR’s western peninsula. Francisco has asked for our help to cover the cost of his transportation back and forth to Cóbano. So we are traveling there to see Cóbano and to meet the core group Francisco has assembled, asking God to show us if this is something He wants us to help with.

What Will It Cost?

Yes, we have a lot to do this month in Costa Rica. And it will cost a lot. I have calculated a budget of $10,600:

• $1500 for Discipleship University: 30-page notebooks for 30 people; breakfast and lunch for 30 people; dinner and hotel rooms for 8 pastors and their wives who have traveled from a distance so they can stay for the Reunion the next day.

• $4300 for the Family Reunion: 7 buses to bring believers in from all over the country; soccer field rental and tables and chairs rental; breakfast, lunch, and coffee for 160 people.

• $1400 for the trip to Cóbano: vehicle rental for 3 days, and gas and ferry; three hotel rooms for two nights; meals for the 5 of us for three days.

• $3400 for additional expenses: including Norma’s and my flights, hotel, meals, travel insurance, taxis.

Brief Description of Joshua One

Joshua One is the ministry of Terry and Norma Hull and a large group of fellow believers who are working together to spread the message of Jesus and encourage and assist fellow Christians in other nations.

The life-changing message of Jesus

Jesus Christ is the greatest teacher the world has ever known. What other prophet, philosopher or priest has had such an influence on the world as Jesus has had?

Jesus taught radical, never-before-heard teachings about love, humility, forgiveness, helping people in need, and befriending sinners.

Jesus taught: Love your enemies. Treat people the way you would be treated. Be a servant to all. Turn the other cheek. Let him who is without sin throw the first stone. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Ask and you will receive it. Seek God’s kingdom first. Those teachings are just as radical in the 21^st century as they were when Jesus first taught them.

Jesus’ influence in the fields of religion, ethics, philosophy, history, politics, culture, and literature is extraordinary and unparalleled. Jesus is the most important person of all human history.

Jesus made many outrageous claims about Himself. He called Himself the only begotten Son of God. He said that the only way to find God is through Him, God’s Son. He said that apart from Him, we can do nothing. He said that He is the bread of life, and that He will cause living water to flow from within us. He said that whoever believes in Him will live forever.

We believe Jesus is exactly who He said He is: the living Son of God, the Creator, the Savior, the Lord, the Source of eternal life. We believe Jesus will do exactly what He said He would do for those who choose to follow Him. Joshua One exists to spread that life-changing message.

Norma and I are traveling to Kochi, India, on Oct. 14-22, 2019, if the Lord is willing. We have been asked to come preach, teach and provide encouragement to India Christian Bible College and surrounding churches.

We invite our many Christian friends to come be a part of this adventure. We will:

• interact with the 55 Bible college students and 12 faculty and staff
• Participate in ICBC’s daily chapel services
• Participate in evening worship services at two or three nearby churches
• Do minor construction and repair projects on the campus
• Offer a medical clinic and a dental clinic
• Take a houseboat tour of the beautiful backwaters of the state of Kerala.

India Christian College was founded in 1984 by my friend and classmate, Dr. John Philipose. John is a native of India who came to Okla City in the 1970s to study theology. He earned his bachelor’s at Midwest Christian College and went on to earn master’s and doctorate degrees in ministry.

John and I were classmates at Midwest. I have admired John’s phenomenal work for the Kingdom ever since. John has asked Norma and me to come to Kerala to encourage his students and faculty. We consider it a great privilege to accept, and we would love to share this privilege and opportunity with you.

Pedro & Anais

This will be our 12th missions trip to Costa Rica. It will be our third trip to the remote rural region of Pérez Zeledón, in south Costa Rica in the valley of the Talamanca Mountains.

We are returning to PZ to continue our work with evangelist and church planter Pedro Ramirez Calvo, who has started three new churches in that area in the last three years. Pedro and his wife, Anais, are wonderful people. It is a great privilege that God has called us to partner with them, and we are really looking forward to seeing them again next month.

Great News: Left Eye is Working Great!

I apologize for the short notice about this trip, although the circumstances have mostly been beyond my control. 2018 has been an unusual year for me.

In July I went blind in my right eye due to a retinal detachment. That led to two surgeries, in July and again in September. The second surgery is so far a success; my retina is still attached after three months. But my vision is still very weak in my right eye.

Praise God for giving us two of almost everything we need to get by! I am thankful to report that my left eye is working great and I am still able to function normally.

I wasnâ€t sure until recently if I was going to be able to travel in January, but — better late than never — this trip is on!

What Can You Do?

We need some volunteers to come with us! Are you any good with tools? Do you have any medical training? Can you fetch and carry on our construction team? Can you take vital signs or sort pharmaceuticals at our health clinics? Do you know Spanish? Do you enjoy working with children? Can you sing? Can you pray and be a positive presence?

There are many, many ways for you to be a blessing to our fellow Christians in Costa Rica and their unreached neighbors. Please think very seriously about coming with us.

We need volunteers for our construction projects, our health clinics, our childrenâ€s ministries, and our day-long discipleship training class for church leaders. We also need volunteers to participate (teaching? singing?) in the worship services we attend on Wednesday and Sunday.

• If you are worried about the cost, please donâ€t be! We will help you raise the funds. We encourage team members to not pay your own way. There are many generous believers who would love to help send you. Accepting their support gives them the opportunity to be involved in what we are doing.

• If you are anxious about traveling to a foreign country, please donâ€t be! Costa Rica is in nearby Central America, straight south of Florida. Ticos (Costa Ricans) are warm, wonderful people who are very friendly to Americans. On 11 previous trips, with groups totaling 155 people, we have never experienced any danger, not a single serious injury, and only one serious illness.

Returning to Tierra Prometida (neighborhood) —
in San Isidro (city) — in Perez Zeledón (province) — in Costa Rica (Central America)

We are excited to be returning to San Isidro in south Costa Rica, where we had such an outstanding experience last year. San Isidro is about a three-hour mountain drive south of San Jose to the state of Perez Zeledón.

Last year, we partnered with a church there called Cuerpo de Cristo (Body of Christ) in Tierra Prometida, one of the poorest neighborhoods of CR. We expanded that churchâ€s worship center and had a childrenâ€s ministry in the park across the street from the church, with 88 children showing up.

This year, Pedro and Anais Ramirez, the leaders of that church, have handed over leadership to another couple and have launched a new church in the next village.

On this trip we will work with both congregations doing construction projects, health clinics and childrenâ€s ministries.

On Saturday, Terry will teach the third day-long class of Discipleship University. We had 78 pastors, elders and teachers for our last class on July 1. Costa Rica abounds with false teachers, religious ritualism, superstition, paganism, and cult groups. These Christian leaders have such a hunger to receive sound training in the essential doctrines of the Christian faith. We are incredibly privileged to be able to provide it.
