Salad Vinegred

A couple of weeks ago, while driving, I was listening to a radio station. They talked about Top Shef and interviewed some famous food blogger. And she was talking about this trend "Mommy Bloggers", that these "mommy bloggers" blog out of depression, to basically escape it. And I thought to myself: "I cant believe it, I am a mommy blogger, I should totally stop, people will think bad of me blah, blah, blah..." (that was my usual thinking). I believe there is some truth to what they were saying.
Now that I have this stereotype, about myself (in a bad way), I will just live up to its name (in a good way). Something awesome might just come out of this "Mommy Blogging".

Vinegred is a Russian salad. Its full of vitamins and super easy, basically, boil some veggies cut them up and toss with some oil. Lets get to it:
Ingredients:
2 medium beets
2 medium potatoes
1/2 can any white beans
3 dill pickles
Sliced onions to taste, marinaded in water with 1tbs sugar and 1tbs vinegar.
4-5 tbs oil (i used sunflower)
Salt and pepper to taste

How to Prepare:
Marinade onions. Boil potatoes and beets until fork tender, but separately. When they are ready drain water and let potatoes and beets cool. Chop them up into small cubes. Chop or slice dill pickles. Drain the beans. Combine potatoes, beets, beans, pickles, onions, drizzle oil over and give those veggies a good toss. Sometimes I find this salad to be dry, just add more oil, you could use Extra virgin olive oil, its probably even healthier.

Пару недель назад, я слушала в машине радио. Интервью брали в успешной блогерши. Речь шла о тренде "Мама блогер" и о том что мамы занимаются блогерством чтобы избежать депрессию. Почему такое отношение к мамам блогер? Да потому что их полно полным и они назойливые. Надоедают рецептами всякими, фотками детей и еще потому что делается это все очень непрофессионально. И тут меня накрыла волна эмоций а я думаю: "Так что получается, я мама блогер? Фуу.. Да какое же отношение ко мне будет. Надо бросать это позорное дело бла, бла, бла..." (я постоянно переживаю что люди подумают. Такие мысли постоянно меня угнетают).

Так как ярлык я на себя уже повесила, можно смело делать что считаю правильно. Может что-то хорошее и получится.

Винегред. Салат полон витамин.

2 средней свеклы

2 картофеля

1 ст. белой фасоли

3 квашеного огурца

Маринованного лука по вкусу (1ст. воды, 1ст. л. уксуса, 1цт. л. сахара)
4-5 ст. л. растительного масла
соль, перец по вкусу

Заготовить лук. Картофель и свеклу помыть и отварить в подсоленной воде. Овощи остудить,почистить и порезать небольшими кубиками, огурцы мелко порезать, добавить вместе в салатницу и заправить салат растительным маслом.

I have one very strong memory from my childhood associated with this dish.

My aunt, whom we got to see very rarely, came over that evening. Our mom prepared us beforehand with her plans at what she'll prepare. We gathered around the counter top with anticipation of the special dish we never ate before. I soaked up every move she made, and after we enjoyed the wonderful dinner. Later that night we all went to walk her to the train station. It was snowing, I think for the first time that winter. While waiting for the train, Me and my sister kept ourselves busy by running up and down the train station platform. That's all I remember.

Its hard to understand the reason for that evening being so special but everything about it seemed very magical.

Crepes:
1 cup milk
1/2 cup lukewarm water
3 eggs
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup all purpose flour
pinch of salt
Mix the wet ingredients well with a whisk, while whisking, add dry ingredients.

Filling:
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 onion
3 mushrooms
2 hard boiled eggs
salt, pepper to taste
Saute beef on the skillet, after its been cooked, saute onions with mushrooms. Set aside. Mix eggs, beef and onions with mushrooms in a food processor. set aside.

Mix the wet ingredients well with a whisk, while whisking add dry ingredients.

Ассоциации с этим блюдом только приятные и те которые запомнились на всю жизнь.

Наша тетя, с которой мы редко виделись, намерилась поужинать с нами. Мама рассказала что мы приготовим блины с мясом, которые мы прежде не пробовали. Счастью нашему не было предела. Мы окружили маму кругом стола, наблюдая за каждым ее движением, а после все вместе наслаждались новым для нас блюдом. В тот вечер впервые за всю зиму выпал снег. Мы все вместе собрались проводить тетю на ЖД станцию. Чтоб убить время, мы с сестрой носились по платформе ожидания. Это все, что осталось в моей памяти.

Мне совсем не понятно из-за чего тот вечер был таким особенным, но все о нем было сказочно. Мечтаю о том, чтоб у моих детей было побольше таких воспоминаний, когда мир кажется сказкой и любовь льется рекой.

Блины:

1 ст. молока
1/2 ст. комнатной температуры воды
3 яичка
2 ст. ложки топленного сливочного масла
1 ст. муки
щепочка соли

Взбить миксером сначала мокрые ингредиенты а после медленно добавлять сухие.

Начинка:
150г мяса
пол луковицы
3 грибочка
2 вареных яйца
соль, перец по вкусу

Since I shared my clothing shopping list, I decided to also share a makeup one too because in my understanding, it has a category of its own.

The thing with makeup is, that it can never react or work the same on every skin type. Something that would work for an oily skin will not work at all for dry skin. That's why all of the items above were picked with attentions to my skin type,which is, normal/oily. I always check reviews on all makeup I buy at makeupalley.

1.Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua: a very light coverage foundation. Meaning, if you have fairly good skin and don't like that felling that you're wearing any makeup, this is the one for you. I actually tried couple of samples already and I plan on purchasing it in the near future.
2. Benefit Porefessional: a primer to make your foundation stay in place and reduce pores. It basically fills in your pores and foundation looks more softer.
3.Loreal million lashes: mascara, because my current one dried out.
4.Chanel Soleil Tan: basically its a cream bronzer, but this bronzer is special because it is especially for light skin tones and it will not make me look orange, like some bronzers do.

На прошлой неделе делилась с вами моим списком одежды, на этой же, поделюсь списком косметики, так как для меня, это совсем отдельная категория которой я уделяю особое внимание.

Особенность выбранной косметики в том что она подобрана для моего типа кожи, жирная/нормальная. Прежде чем чем я делаю покупку, я всегда читаю отзывы той или иной косметики на makeupalley.

Spring Shopping List

I am beginning to approach dressing myself differently.

Instead of going shopping just for fun or sale shopping, I will make a plan of what to buy, ahead of time. That way I don't spend money on something I don't need and not have anything to wear.

The things above are not the exact things i want to buy, but, more of an inspiration (although the boots and watch are the exact ones)

Последним временем я начала пересматривать мои взгляды на то скупляюсь.

Раньше, дело выглядело так: иду в магазин потому что нечего одеть, покупаю то что на скидке, прихожу домой и все равно нечего одеть. Сейчас же, попробую так: Складываю список чего мне нужно, ищу, покупаю и одеваю. Просто, не так ли?

Плащ должен быть у каждой женщины (у нас всю зиму дождливая погода). Сапоги, которые намереваюсь купить лет так 5 уже. Часы, без которых я не могу прожить и дня (а вообще то наверноe могу, уже 3 месяца без них). А сумка так, просто красивая.

I'm sitting here in front of the computer with a box of tissues, still in my pajamas, (its 11:30am) blowing my brains out.
The sickness came upon me unexpectedly. A sneeze here, a sneeze there and viola! I am sick.
So is the rest of my younger generation in the house.

Sickness put aside, I've went through my phone pictures and I have to say, about 99% of it consists of our kids.
Well, that was the case, up until I visited IKEA..

Подступила болезнь незаметно. Чихнула здесь,чихнула там и вот, уже больна.
Так же как и наши дети.

Нa днях пересматривала все фотки на моем телефоне, и могу сказать что, примерно 99% из них это фотки наших детей.
Это было так, пока я не посетила IKEA...

Pride and Prejudice

It just so happens that I have another book to recommend to you.
This one is a romantic novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin.
I am sure most of you are familiar with the movie, Pride and Prejudice, but books are way more interesting.

The book is a bit hard to read, but should get easier once I get through a couple more pages.

Hello to all!
I am a strong believer that a person should be as beautiful on the inside as the outside. We often concentrate on the outer, buy expensive clothing, put makeup on, and watch what we eat but forget about our inner person. That person is way more important because that's what we are and that's the person we spend most time with.
I started reading all kinds of books on personal growth and the last book I read was just beyond beautiful, it made me think about things I never though. I read this book within 2 days, and I must say I was in awe from it. I don't want to give away too much that's why I will just say that this book is about wisdom and being free to do whatever you set your mind to. Its about love that doesn't destroy.
OK, enough blabbing, the book is called: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
I really hope you get a chance to read it. (I, personally plan to read it one more time)

Я верю в то что человек должен заботится не только о своем внешнем но и о внутреннем человеке. Зачастую мы покупаем дорогую одежду, наводим макияж следим за диетой а совсем забываем о там что у нас внутри.
Наша душа/дух намного важнее нашего тела так как с собой мы проводим большое количество времени.
По выше сказанной причине я начала читать книги о внутреннем росте. Мне просто крышу снесло от последней книги. Она навела меня на очень хорошые мысли.
Не хотелось бы выдавать многое но скажу что книга о мудрости, любви и внутренней свободе.
Хорош болтать, ближе к делу. Так вот книга Алхимик автор Пауло Коэльо.
Надеюсь вы сможете найти ее на Русском. (Лично я, собираюсь ее еще разок прочитать).

Ukraine was HOT!!! Why not cool down with some Kvas by the lake? SURE, Sign me up!!

We were surprised with how clean this lake beach was. Maybe because it was a paid lake? People were relaxing with a beer, some snacks, a game of cards or just sun bathing.

Yes, it was weird/awkward seeing old and out-of-shape men in briefs (you know, speedo briefs that only professional swimmers wear? not old, out-of shape men).

Yes, it was also awkward seeing old, out-of-shape add with cellulite, women wearing thong bathing suits (YES!!!! like strings!) I mean its OKAY when a young girl who wants to attract attention to get a guy, wears it, but not an average aged woman. I actually really wanted to get a picture, but I didnt want to look like a desperate one trying to embarass the poor ladies. So, I will let you imagination do the work!

And finally, NO, I would not change the experience for anything else. It was great being with people similar in the spirit, the atmosphere felt sooo..... close to me.

На Украине ОЧЕНь жарко. Почему бы не съездить на озеро и позагорать?? Именно этим мы и занялись!!

Мы были приятно удивлены чистотой пляжа и классной музыкой на пляже. Чем наши люди занимаются на пляже? Конечно играют в карты, пьют квас/пиво и просто загорают.

Да, было очень странно видеть старых дядек в купальных плавках. Здесь в штатах, все одевают купальные шорты, А плавки одевают, только профессионалы по плаванью. Hепривычно видеть так много оголенной кожи.

И опять ДА, странно видеть женщин в купальных стрингах. Ну ладно там с стрингами и оголенной кожей, но с (пардон за слово) мягким местом и целлюлитом я не соглашусь!! Это было странно и резало глаза. Я конечно хотела сфоткать, но как-то застеснялась даже смотреть в ту сторону больше чем на 2 секунды.

И на конец, НЕТ, я бы не променяла наше время на родине ни на что другое. Было приятно находится с людьми близкими по духу.

Baby Shower

Last week our family threw me a surprise Baby Shower. Well, i guess you can call it half a surprise, because i had an idea it would be that day but not where.

The time spent there was very relaxing with lots of good food and pretty decorations. I would like to thank everyone who attended and for the gifts. Special Thanks to our nieces Yana and Jannet who did the decor, which was very glamorous. Take a look:

На прошлой неделе наша семья устроила мне Бейби Шовер (праздник для всех знакомых, где будущего ребенка обсыпают подарками). Я догадывалась что будет именно в тот день, но сюрприз состоял в том где он проходил.

This past week has been very family-centered. We celebrated my birthday and had lots of grilling going on.

Also, I had a major craving late at night for Snickers. So, being the wonderful wife that I am, I tortured my lovely husband until he went and bought Snickers for me. He made sure I had plenty Snickers Ice Cream and Snickers bar. Thank you, husband.

На днях, поздно вечером, меня так потянуло на Сникерс. Так как я, ну прям такая хорошая жена, взяла и замучила моего мужа до смерти чтоб он поехал и купил мне его. Он конечно позаботился о том чтоб мне сникерса хватило и купил мне сникерс шоколадку и мороженое. мммм... Спасибо тебе муж.

Cuticle care

I've started caring for my nails.Before I did anything with them I did some research on good products/tools. I first stumbled upon a good cuticle oil: Solar Oil by CND but they didn't have it at the store so I bought Avoplex cuticle oil by OPI instead. It seems to get the job done well, plus, it smells awesome. I use it every night before bed. Its good to be persistent with it, because if I don't use it everyday, cuticles get dry and i start seeing hangnails within 4-5 days.

Next purchase was Mehaz 777 4" Cuticle Nipper, these were priced a little high at $35, but they are the best of the best. Since I like to do my own nails, I figured it was a good investment. It took me some practice to get to used to them. The clippers are so tiny, they get into every crack between the nails.

Я приняла решение следить за своим маникюром и не в коем случае не по пускать. Сначала посмотрела на интернете какие инструменты качественнее.
Первое что я купила это масло для кутикулы от фирмы OPI Avoplex. Ее нужно наносить на кутикулы 1-2 раза в день в обязательном порядке, а то через дней так 4, кутикулы будут опять сухими.

Следующее, щипцы Немецкой фирмы Mehaz777. Они конечно дорогие ($35), но зато качественнее уже не придумаеш: нержавейка, их даже можно подтачивать. К ним вначале надо привыкнуть, я только на 3 раз смогла аккуратно и быстро очистить ногти. Еще один плюс, они очень маленькие, можно даже самую маленькую занозу ими выщупать.

Putyla, Chernivtsi

We went to Putyla for an annual Yarmarka (food/music festival). The festival is actually done before or when the sheep are taken out to the pasture. Its a festival where you can really get the feel for authentic Hutsul food and customs. The Hutsuls are an ethno-cultural group of Ukrainian highlanders who for centuries have inhabited the Carpathian mountains.

How we got there is really interesting, because not only were we late, (actually we got there when everyone was leaving), but the weather got really rainy, so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the festival or the food. And let me tell you, when you're pregnant and craving food, and you dont get any, you're mad, like really mad. anyways, it was a bummer since we drove there for 4 hours.

The Carpathians are very whimsical, I wish to see the region in the winter time.

В Путилу мы ездили на ярмарку/фестиваль «Полонинская ватра». В этот день пастухи собирают отары и отправляются в верховья гор, где они пробудут до осени. Все желающие могут попробовать блюда гуцульской кухни: бануш, кулешу, гуслянку и брынзу.

Конечно как мы попали туда, отдельная история, расскажу вкратце. Узнали мы про ярмарку, утром в 9, а она в 9 и начинается, пока мы собрали наших детей, то конечно опоздали, точнее приехали когда все уже разъезжались, а местные, пьяные в доску (что же им остается делать, они уже отпраздновали). Получилось что не отведали мы ни бануша ни кулеши, а мне то беременной так хотелось вкуснятинки такой.

Сам посёлок находится в пригорьях Карпат, все очень очень красиво, хотелось бы посмотреть на местность зимой. Наверное сказочно красиво.

Hello my dear readers!!

When one has the choice of 2 good reading materials, which one does one go with???

I was so anxious to receive my book: "Eternal call" by Anatoli Stepanovich Ivanov, and by the end of the day i was so tired, that i ended up reading Allure magazine.

Yes, yes I choose the one that at the end will make me spend like $100 more dollars on things that I already have (nail polishes, moisturizers and more nail polishes)

And I am still debating on weather or not i should get the 2 year subscription. lol

Anyways, my next post will be either about beauty (caring for your nails) or more pictures from Ukraine.
I'm off to do some cleaning!!!

Я так долго ждала мою книгу: "Вечный Зов" Анатолия Степановича Иванова, но к концу дня, я так устала, что закончила тем что читала журнал Allure.

Да, да я выбрала тот материал, который приведет меня к растрате лишних 100$ на те вещи которые у меня имеются (лаки для ногтей, увлажняющие кремы и больше лаков для ногтей).
Такого давно не случалось, чтоб я выбрала журнал а не книжку.

И я все еще колеблюсь насчет 2х летней подписки на этот журнал.

Короче, мой следующий пост будет про красоту (забота о ногтях) или еще фотки с Украины.

Ну все пака, я пошла прибраться в доме.

Italian Soda

oh my!! how much my whole family loves this drink for the summer. For some reason its super refreshing and it quenches my thirst right away. Here's what you'll need:

syrup
club soda
ice
half and half or whipping cream

Сода по Итальянски. Один из наших любимых напитков, особенно летом. Он очень освежает и утоляет жажду, также как и домашний квас. Вам понадобится:

лёд

газированная вода

сироп

сливок

Step 1: get a large glass put ice in it and fill with syrup 1/4 of the way
Наполните стакан льдом, налейте сиропа 1/4 к вверху

Add club soda almost to the top as you see on the picture
газировки налейте почти к вверху

add a splash of half and half and mix REALLY well.
TIP: make sure you mix ingredients in the order mentioned above otherwise you'll end up with a drink you'll not want to drink.
добавьте 1 ст. ложку сливок, и взболтайте хорошенько
Совет: Добавляйте ингредиенты по такой же очередности как и я, иначе они просто не размешаются и выйдет непонятная каша, которую вы не захотите пробовать. Как-то у меня так и получилось, пришлось вылить в раковину.

Pelmeni

A couple days ago I made home-made pelmeni. It took me like 2 hours!! There's plenty of them at the local Russian food store, but there's a special ingredient they don't put in them: love. My husband can always tell if I haven't put any Love in my cooking, so I made sure to put LOTS of it!!
Dough:

2 sticks of butter melted
2 cups warm milk
a pinch of salt
1 egg
5 cups flour

I mix the wet ingredients into dry ingredients, and work the dough with hand for about 5 min. or until the dough has no lumps. You will need to keep this dough warm since it dries up really fast, put it in a bowl over a pot of warm water and cover with plastic wrap. Now, this will make you lots of dough, I haven't tried freezing it, instead I use all of it at once for pelmeni then freeze them.
Meat:

2 pounds of ground meat (i used beef)
2 large onions pureed
2 tsp. pepper
salt to taste
1 tbsp fresh dill
1 tsp. ground corriander
1 or 2 chicken bullion cubes
1 egg

You can add any other ingredients to your taste just make sure the meat has lots of flavor because you will need to make up for the dough which has no flavor. Mix all of the ingredients well.
Step 1: roll a thin layer of dough onto a pelmeni maker (i got this one in Ukraine, ebay has some nice prices too, search for pelmeni maker)
Step 2: add meat onto each pelmeni hole

Step 3: cover with another layer of thin dough

Step4: roll over with dough roller for the 2 layers to stick together

step5: take the pelmeni out and freeze them with flour so they wont stick together

step5: cook pelmeni in salted boiling water for about 5 min, check when the meat is cooked ans Enjoy!
Oh yeah, this sauce that you see is simply sauteed onions with garlic and carrots, then I added whipping cream with butter and fresh dill.

Ukrainian mountains

Our first trip or adventure happened to be really memorable. We drove 4 hours to this village, 2 of which were in the mountains, on a dirt road. After we got to the top of the mountain, we had BBQ. Enjoy the pictures!

Наша первая поездка или приключение, были незабываемы. Мы ехали 4 часа к этой деревни, 2 из которых были в горах по грунтовой дороге. После как мы поднялись на вершину, жарили шашлыки. Приятного просмотра!

This is Romania, which is part of the European union. We were surprised to see people's homes so European and more rich I would say.
Это Румыния, она смотрится гораздо богаче Украины, наверное из за того что она в Евросоюзе. Мы были очень уделены разницей уровня жизни.

Wild boars. The locals cought a couple in the mountains and keep them just for the heck of it.

Дикие кабаны. Местные их поймали в лесу и просто держат их себе.

HURRAY!!! So, our time in Ukraine is coming to an end. We're flying back in 10 days!! (so soon, cant wait). To tell you the truth I have not made many pictures, simply because I hate carrying a bulky camera and all the junk with me.
So, I will try to set aside a day for photographing only. I plan to make a few posts: Fashion, clothing/food bazaar and the city of Chernivtsi (I heard it being named little Paris. Cozy little streets, cafes, architecture of the past, tiled roads, all this would remind one of Europe). I wrote this all here, with hopes that if I let you guys know my plans, at the end I will HAVE to do all this photographing. So keep your fingers crossed! ;-)

УРА!!!!!! Наше пребывание на Украине подходит к концу . Через 10 дней мы летим обратно!! (так скоро, не дождусь). Если честно, я мало фоткала, по одной простой причине: лень таскать тяжелый фотик с кучей прибамбасов.
Итак, я попытаюсь отложить день сугубо для фотографии. Я планирую сделать несколько отдельных постов: Мода, вещевой рынок, продуктовый рынок и сам город Черновцы (кстати его называют маленьким Парижом. Архитектура прошлых веков, маленькие улочки выложены брусчаткой, магазинчики, забегаловки, все это напоминает кокой нибудь городок Европы)
Ну вот, наобещала, а теперь придется все это исполнять. Так что ждите!! ;-)

Sour cherries

Don't these sour cherries look good?

I am sitting here, in our living room. The water is heating up on the stove for my next HAND washing. I also just came from a small garden where there are 3 fruit trees: 2 sour cherries and 1 cherry, picked about a cup of sour cherries. The weather is perfect, warm with a breeze. The birds are signing, kids chatting. Life is in its full bloom. And I'm thinking to myself: life is good.

P.S.I was jumping up and down from excitement after this image uploaded!!!

Вкусные вишни, не правда ли?

Я сижу здесь в нашей гостиной. Вода нагревается на плите для моей следующей Ручной стирки. Только недавно вернулась из небольшого сада, где есть 3 плодовых дерева: 2 кислых вишни и 1 черешня Cобрали мы с дочкой 1 стакан кислой вишни, можно сказать, первый урожай кислых вишен . Погода просто прекрасная, на улице тепло с ветерком. Птицы подпевают, дети болтают. Жизнь в полном разгаре. И про себя думаю: жизнь хороша!!

What I miss

Ukraine is awesome!
I can totally go without running water, a toilet, a fridge or even a washing machine. BUT!!! I cant go without some good food, to be more exact different varieties of foods.
Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoy eating all the things that I loved when i was a child, fresh strawberries, homemade jelly, fresh cherries right off the tree, young potatoes with dill from the garden etc... I just miss other kinds of foods like the ones below.

P.S. Okay, just don't lick the screen. lol

На Украине очень классно!

Я могу запросто обойтись без воды в кране, туалета, холодильника или даже стиральной машины. НО!!! Я абсолютно не могу обойтись без хорошей еды , точнее без разнообразности пищи.
Поймите меня правильно, я действительно люблю кушать все то, что я любила, когда я была ребенком,свежей земляникой, самодельным вареньем, вишен прямо с дерева, молодой картошки с укропом и т.д... Только мне хочется чего-то вроде этого!!

P.S. Только не облизывайте экран. хи хи.
