We have celebrated 4 birthdays since October...can't believe how much my babies have grown! My love and I celebrated our 14th anniversary. We started a soap business, in where we sell all natural soap, laundry soap, and hot/cold rice bags. Started selling at the farmers market. That's all I can think of that would be "big". We have so much coming our way that we are excited about. I'll try really hard to keep you all up to date! We don't have the internet anymore except on my phone...so that is my only way of sharing, unless I make it to the library, which I don't get to do very often.

This is the first year I didn't get caught up in the commercial side of "Easter". This is what I've wanted to do for years, just not having it in me to follow through. I did get them each a small gift to go along with the understanding that we like to give good gifts and they like to receive them, just like our heavenly father gave his son as a gift and we get to receive Him! I think for the first time some of the little ones got it. It's so rewarding to see your children get something!
My home has been filled with such peace and joy this weekend...I know celebrating the way we did for our family brought such blessings.
Today we got to celebrate with a breakfast and service with our church family. Probably one of the best gospel messages I've ever heard. Some points surrounding the death and resurrection I've never considered! I have been truly blessed.
There are many reasons why we are doing these. Some I'll share. We want to not just be consumers, but to do our part! We see this as part of our calling at the beginning of creation. We want our children to grow up with the knowledge of all of what we are doing (physically and spiritually). Ya just never know what's coming down the road, we would like to be free of "the system", we would like to owe no man anything except to love, we desire to have the peace of God not the "peace of this world, and one last one I'll share we would like to be in tuned with nature and our bodies which we believe would give us a more simple blessed life.
As we are doing these things I am realizing my weaknesses and my lack of discipline. I'm having to rely on and seek God for my priorities. I'm becoming more aware of the need to be MORE organized. I'm realizing how much we take for granted and waste! So He is my strength and my Shepard.

I hope you enjoy this new revamped blog as much as I enjoy sharing. We hope in the near future to attain some acreage, lots more farm animals, an old farm house, and to open up a small store...selling off our farm of course, but with the items listed on our site! We have so many dreams and goals...as God sees and blesses us we will fill you in!

One of my goals in life is to not take what we have in life for granted. You know like water, heat, air, food...resources. We are working toward that slowly. So with all these thoughts the Lord has been speaking to me about my children's lack of self denial. Gee great topic for "children" right...they're just doing what comes natural you say. Well that's what we as the parents get to "train" out of them! So I thought how interesting it is that we are moving our life towards these goals and the Almighty is simultaneously speaking about the condition of our hearts on the same matter. God is so good to us to teach us spiritually through the physical. So the first thing we started with was the break down of what "self denial" is. Talking is always a good thing to start with! Then we brought in scripture and prayer. Well the kids did good with this part...the easy part, right? Well now comes the fun part...the acting upon and putting into practice what we know! For an example washing dishes by hand...when we have a dish washer. It's been two weeks and they are still going strong! Or here's a toughy...playing with something, you set it down and someone else gets it. "but I had it first" well nows a good time to practice "self denial".
It's been good and challenging around here for the past couple of weeks. I could go on and on with examples. He has of course used ALL of this to work in my heart as well. So how about you, how are you working on not taking what you have for granted? I welcome comments or questions. I'll try to respond or answer as soon as I can!

Part 1 (I hope)

I've been struggling with motivation lately. So trying to figure out what's wrong with me has actually helped me draw closer to God. I've been trying to lay some things down. Mainly dreams and expectations. Not realizing holding on to my "dream" for our life has become an idol. I've been making decisions and living in discontentment due to thinking this "dream" IS going to happen. It has robbed me of my life in the "now". It has made me a disgruntled person. It has made me frustrated almost on a daily basis. It has contributed to my anger. In short it really has made me not enjoy life.

So

I am giving this up, laying it down. It's kind of weird, because now I'm actually having to rethink my days. I've spent so much brain power on this with out even realizing it. I feel more free in the last couple of days than I have in a long time. For a long time I haven't lived in the here and now so to speak. I think I'm enjoying this new thought. It's hard and it's a work in progress, but slowly He is teaching me. I enjoyed today and the thought, that I don't have to do anything except that, has brought me gladness.

Today I actually felt relaxed. I enjoyed my children. I didn't feel all frustrated with time constraints. I'm sure I've done this many times, but today it felt different. My mind has been feed up. I hope and pray it continues to get better. I know I'm on the healing end of this.

Pray for me!

I rolled over in bed the other morning and said what seems to me few words for such a big statement in my heart. "I need you Lord, I really really need you". And so my "new" year began! God has been wonderful and been showing up in wonderful ways. He has been showing me the condition of my heart and my sin. Probably seems strange that a person would want to talk about their sin, but it really is a relief to know He is still working on me and He doesn't ever let me go. Him showing me the sin in my life means He loves me and He is showing me how much by showing me my sin. Plus I get to change (for the better).....which remember I love!

So what did I realize? Well I realized that I have been discontent. Discontent with the way my God has provided for me. So now I'm trying to be grateful and find the positive, giving thanks (verbally) for what I have. Something else....I way didn't realize is how I've made my circumstances "gods" in my life. Like for example...where I live, getting out of debt, my wardrobe, simply what I have or don't have. When I say "gods" I mean I was putting caring for these things before Him. Like my husband says "when my relationship with him is not so good everything else seems blown out of proportion, and when it is good everything seems put in their place. Which brings me to another thing I realized. My lack of faithfulness to Him. Good thing he's faithful regardless. It really doesn't take much to love Him in ways of reading (knowing Him) and praying (conversing with Him). Probably the one biggest things I allow to be stolen away from my life.

Sharing these things is great for me. It causes me to understand my weakness and His strength. He is a good God and I am most of all grateful to have him in my life as my God! These things I mentioned are some of the goals God has lead me to work on in the new year. I acknowledge the need to repent of my sin....which is a process and I lean on His strength to change me.

My heart is His.
He is the potter, I am the clay.

We let stuff creep into your house with out realizing it. Before you know it it's time to clean out the house, maybe for a yard sale! But today I'm thinking about my pantry/refrigerator. We eat pretty healthy for the most part, but like all things, bad (easy) food creeps in and before I know it we are eating junk food or spending money needlessly on food we don't really need. I usually stick to the basics of food and that makes it easy. Easy on our bodies and easy on our wallet! So I thought I would encourage readers to look at the basics. If you are way beyond this, you can start slow. Every little bit helps.

I like to think about our bodies like cooking. When you are cooking you have to be pretty careful what you put in your food. If you put one small rotten piece of food in the whole thing is ruined. If you are using spices or salt, you have to be careful not to "stub your toe" like my mother used to say when she over did it. The right ingredients are important to make a good dish. Sooooo let's look at what we put into our bodies. Pay attention to even the smallest piece of food you are eating. It does something to you weather you are realizing it or not. How can it not, your body is constantly working. Is what you are eating going to help or hinder your body? Also don't forget the amount of what you eat.

For my family we started eating the way we eat due to finances, but slowly we recognized what we were eating was really making us feel bad, tired, grumpy, sick. We even noticed a difference in our health. We were getting sick way less and had quicker recoveries when we did get sick. It just makes sense. So here are the basics

meat- cow, goat, sheep, wild game(deer, squirrel, turkey, fish)
real milk, butter, and cheese (either processed at home or organic from the store)
eggs
fruits
vegetables
grains
olive oil

We do eat other things like popcorn, nuts, honey, but for the most of it this is it. Be creative and find good recipes using good food. I hear a lot of people say "we can't afford to eat healthy. But what you quickly realize is you can't afford to eat healthy AND unhealthy. If all you are buying is healthy you save, not only on groceries, but on the DOC. You are also eating out less due to "eating right".

I love taking care of my family and this is one of the biggest areas that I can be a good Steward over. Not to say we never eat out or eat junk. But trying to follow the rule not the exception this is a good way of life.

Good eating AND saving money!$!

I think the one of best parts of curriculum is reading REAL books. They are so full of information that becomes alive to you as you read. For my older children they get the pleasure of reading these books for themselves. As for my younger children I get that pleasure. One of the biggest things I am concentrating on this year is reading to my little ones.

I get amazed to see the younger ones picking up so much. I was planning on starting some preschool lessons with Malachi and Makayla, but soon decided that I didn't think I was going to have time for that. We have done lessons for a week and didn't hear a word out of them about what they wanted to do until this morning. They were begging me do do their "school jobs" (their words). Soooo here we go. Lessons for preschoolers. I guess they are ready sometimes before we are!

So back to the table of evaluation and changing my routine that I am trying to find! I'VE GOT IT! I say, Little ones in the morning, older ones in the afternoon! It all works! Thank you God!

A new week, a new plan. It's all good!

We have to be willing to change things in our lives, especially if we are homeschooling many children. It has taken me about 6 years to get here and I look forward to more change and evaluation.

Someone told me to look at our lives as fluid instead of being flexible. If your flexible you can still break but fluid just flows. It may go through different things, take different routes, but it is still flowing. It's going to get where it's going it just might not be a straight shot. That's how I need to look at teaching my children day in and day out.

Homeschooling is so worth it. To get to see your children flourish before your very eyes is a wonderful thing. How rewarding. To get to see them take on life and make good decisions. How rewarding. To see them mature year after year. How rewarding.

As most people are sending their blessings away I get to welcome mine into my living room every morning for a day full of adventure!

Love unfailing, overtaking my heart, you take me in finding peace again, fear is lost in all you are

and I would give the world to tell your story cause I know that you've called me I kow that you've called me I've lost myself for good within your promise and I won't hide it, I won't hide it

We started the baking today. It's a tradition in our home to make homemade gifts for our family. This year we decided to bake for our homemade gifts. I put together gift baskets with a few small items and some baked goodies. The homemade gifts are usually done by the whole family, but this year Jeremy and I did them. The children just watched and picked. It's taken years but we now work together pretty well. Probably unusual to see a man in the kitchen, but I must say I have a pretty great and unusual man! I would not be the woman I am today without him. God has enabled me to trust him with my whole heart. We make a pretty good team and have fun doing it.

The apron I'm wearing came from my great grandmother. I have several, but this one's one of my favorites.

Here's where it all begins!

So we started off making fudge, using the recipe on the back of the marshmellow cream jar.

Next we made chocolate no-bake cookies.

1/4 cup baking cocoa 1/4 cup peanut butter
2 cup sugar 2 cups quick oats
1/2 cup butter 1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup milk
In a large sauce pan add first four ingredients, bring to a boil over med-hi heat for 2 min. Take off heat and add remaining ingredients. Drop on waxed paper. Let cool.

Then we made sugar cookies and sprinkled powdered sugar on for the topping. They are sitting on a old christmas tray I picked up at a thrift store for about 50 cents!

While were talking about projects. I thought I would share some things we've been doing in December. We've been studying the names or titles of Jesus. Along studying we have done many craft projects. I have learned so much. I never realized how many different things Jesus is called or calls himself. I feel closer to knowing Him. I think every year I come to recognize something new about this season and the birth of Jesus. This year I would have to say the realization of the conditions of where he was born was not so hot. It's funny when you read the bible how you just lump the accounts of things as "stories". We put in our mind how great things were, or looked, almost like a fantasy. When if you really think about the true story and how things probably were, they usually weren't at all pleasant or fictitious. Anyway, so I was just thinking about the stable, and how dirty and smelly it must have been. For sure no place we would want to have our baby. But once again God is bigger than us and so are His plans. So here are a few pictures of some of what we've done.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace!

Jesus is the Lamb of God!

Jesus is the Unspeakable Gift!

For this project we wraped a box and cut a slit in the top. We have a stack of paper beside the box, and everyday we all put one thing we're thankful for inside it. Then on Christmas Eve we'll read all the thanks.

When the kids were done making the projects we just incorporated them in our Christmas decor.

Well my Malachi turned 4 on December 15. He is my fourth blessing. He thinks he such a big boy. He can do anything until it's time to do chores or sit still during devotions. Then he says "I'm just little". His greatest asperation is to be tall. You can ask him is he is big or strong, he say's no "I'm tall". He has such a personality. He love's to sing and color. He has great expectations to start lessons soon. I guess you can't tell someone that they are to little for some things, then in the same breath tell them they can help, their big enough. I suppose if we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, it counts no matter your size!
